I have no clue why people are against you here. You can be angry at both for different reasons.
As a brit, you yank's tipping culture is ludicrous. Why should you have to rely on the extra kindness of strangers rather than a fulfilling contract with your boss, who uses your labour to increase their own value?
Maybe its cause even in the UK, a dying empire, hell bent on holding onto its past, we try to treat our employees with a modicum of dignity, one that's not even offered to Americans for their server's slave wages.
Could not agree more. The UK is undoubtedly pretty shit, but at least it has a health care system, workers' rights, and a basic living wage. The US tipping system is simply outrageous.
Yanks will generally disagree with you as it is ingrained in their culture. Tipping is part of their way of life. As you say, they need to be paid a solid basic wage by their boss and not a pittance and then blame the customer. Madness.
Yeah, we all think it sucks, but the restaurant owners aren't going to lobby to pay their employees fairly. We're stuck trying to not screw over our servers while also not bleeding ourselves dry.
Yep, I understand. I seen a video somewhere where a guy was in a food court getting his own fruit & veg and when he paid at the touchscreen it asked if he wanted to leave a tip. WTF?!?!
It USED to be a way to influence good service. Servers worked hard to boost their tipping percentage and service was, on average, better than what you'd recieve in Europe. Now it's expected regardless of service level and critical for servers to get by. The system went awry.
Actually, that's a modern corruption of American culture.
Originally, the very idea of paying for better service was deemed "un-american". God knows how they lost their way so badly, but here we are.
Did you mean how those that work in a warehouses or other jobs where they break backs get minimum wage and those that sit behind a desk at HR for example make 2x as much? Not as bad as the U.S but not much better. And don't get me started on 0 hour contracts..
Exactly, i have no issue tipping at a restaurant, hotel, or i get a pizza delivery if the person was chill and gave good service.
But workers shouldn't be demanding tips, and companies should be paying a standard living wage from the get go with tips being a little bonus to compliment great work
Concept: Boundary-pushing sitcom where an Atheist college student shares a dorm with a Protestant fundamentalist, a TradCath, a diehard Zionist Orthodox Jew and a Jihadist Muslim. The Atheist plays the straight man and mediator to this eccentric cast, and every episode ends with all four of them getting enraged at the former in choir-perfect unison.
It they were capable of reading, they’d know their precious book speaks directly against what they’re doing.
Matthew 6:1 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
Or they'll say it's a mental illness, while they are doing this shit. Look at that woman in red with 'blood line' on the shirt. You can't convince me that is normal behaviour.
This stuff enrages me as a Christian. Like if you want to sing and shake sace that for your raucous church or whatever. They look like they're all crazy, and tbh I feel like if it wasn't Christianity it would just be something else to justify their attention seeking. Throwing a strop if something's wrong with their meal comes to mind.
Thankfully in all my life with the church, not once has any form of "mass hysteria" like this happened. The most religious woman I know prayed once before her meal at a restaurant and that was embarrassing enough! Or maybe being a Brit keeps this extroversion away
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Like all religious texts, the bible is full of enough ambiguity and contradictions that people can cherry pick anything to justify any action they're making. Especially cherry picking between Old Testament or New Testament.
Heck, some supposed Christians will gladly justify some horrible behaviour with "An eye for an eye" despite famously the New Testament in Matthew 5:38 having Jesus explicitly going against it.
So my gf is religious and has an important test today. she wanted to read in the bible with me yesterday. We red literally a passage that said that only bigots pray loud in public and that you should only pray silently in your room.
It also very literally contradicts the Bible, and not even the old testament stuff like Leviticus. Mathew 6:5 very clearly states that making a big show of praying is sinful.
"No sir, we don't use money to pay our bill. We are owners of our own currency: 'Christ Coins'. What we invest in this life, carries over into the next. Now... Are you ready to own your afterlife?"
I mean probably. I’ve known quite a few addicts who were “saved” and became essentially addicted to religion to the point where it’s unhealthy like these folks.
I'm a Christian and boy do Christian's get on my nerves. The Bible literally says Matthew 6:5-8 NIV
[5] “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
[6] But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
[7] And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
[8] Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
https://matthew.bible/matthew-6-5
If you're gonna claim to be a Christian please act like one. This is not right.
I went with a friend to one of these evangelical churches a couple times. I was young and open to new experiences and was trying to find some spirituality. I went with an open mind. After all was done I was honestly freaked the fuck out. For a couple decades I have been living around these people and didnt even know it. Basically Christian extremists on a slippery slope.
The last time I went, afterwards me and my friend went to a small mom pops burger place. Some of the workers were in the back having a smoke break (we had to drive around to park). We walk in and my friend tells the hostess "I just want you to know you have some black guys hanging in the back of your restaurant". Basically telling her they might be criminals. I was like god damn, we just went to be all holy and loving just minutes ago and now you are full blown hateful racist. I looked at the hostess with my own shock and told her I am so sorry. I was pissed the F off and that totally confirmed it for me that these people have mental problems. My friend was on some kind of righteous trip, thinks he speaks to Jesus directly and can tell the future, and thinks I will burn in hell for not believing in him. We no longer speak.
Before I concluded I was atheist, I went with my ex to his church one day because I figured if it was important to him, why not? The whole sermon was about how you need to tithe and give most of your money to the church. Sure, doing works and donating to charity is fine, but most of that should be saved for your church.
My ex at least had the good sense to be embarrassed about that one, but it did nothing to really sway his opinions. Mine kinda became set, tho.
Oh God I hate this. Back in the old days this was necessary because the local church was like the neighborhood insurance policy. If your house burned down, the church would keep you fed and clothed and people would help you build a new house. Now? People at the church might offer to help you but the church itself probably isn't paying anything. They absolutely do not need most of people's income.
This is mental issues. Not just for the mindless cult behavior, but also for not understanding that this behavior is not acceptable in a public setting.
I would run in the middle chanting something latin in a demonic voice. Karen and her besties would be out faster than you could say "church brunch on a sunday"
Didn't Jesus say something about not being one of these ostentatious assholes worshipping/praying in public but to pray in private where no one sees you?
If I was the manger I would have definitely kicked them out. I don’t care what religion you adhere to, or if it wasn’t religious at all, that level of noise is unacceptable in a restaurant.
Applicable side story. I had a manger once that told some people who were being rude they needed to leave the restaurant and they pulled “I’m never coming back here and I’m telling all my friends not to come here” without missing a beat he said “Do you promise?”
Best restaurant manager ever!
I feel like they went in there thinking they were “spreading their faith” or whatever… but in reality they just made a room full of people agnostic/atheist.
Have any of yal watched Loudermilk? You know when they're having the meeting in the cafe and New Guy is talking about preforming sexual acts on men for Drugs. That is less awkward than this.
I'm a recovering addict and these women look like the women in knew in rehab that got caught up in the born again churches and switched one obsession for another.
Do they not see this video and think, “man I was behaving seriously strange here. Maybe I should change up the way I act” ? Obviously no they don’t but wth. If I was in a group and they start acting like this in a public scenario, it’d be my last time in that group. So embarrassing and rude. And I believe they should be able to do this at home or in their church but if you go out tin public, you need to respect others around you. Jesus’s main teaching was to treat others with respect.
I can’t stand the people who pretend to be possessed by the “ spirit” like lady with the bandana. The outside matches the inside. They wed mental evaluations or at the very least to read their Bible. You aren’t supposed to pray in public. It’s anti- Christian to do so.
Awesome, they are playing the famous pentecostal game of "Who can out religious who?" This is when they fake being able to speak in tongues and have fake seizures to make everyone believe they are special. Then sit down and bad mouth everyone in the restaurant and gossip about people at the church who have sinned so much they shouldn't be allowed to come to church even though that's literally what they say church is for. I fucking hate organized religion.
I bet they always mention to others, "I'm okay with gays as long as they're not in my face and pushing it on to me". Replace "gays" with any minority group for the same statement for any other time in history.
Now if a group of trans people stood up and expressed their happiness about living their true selves these same people would be screaming about forcing their beliefs on them.
As a Christian I’ll encourage others to find a relationship with God, but this is a bad result of teaching a congregation with the use of emotional responses like bethel churches, and isn’t biblical. The teachings of God are meant for each individual’s spiritual growth, but nature of man has perverted it into a bad organized religion.
This happened by me at olive garden one time so I stood up and granted Satan permission to invade their homes and lives. The manager actually told them if he has to make me pray in secret, then they will too. I know this sounds like r/thathappened but it's actually true
That is a gaggle of uneducated mentally ill people. I wonder what their Venn diagram of church to MLM to Trump support looks like, probably very close to a circle

I bet they didn't leave a tip either

You are not slaving for them, you are slaving for the guy who hired you. Ask him for money to eat food
I have no clue why people are against you here. You can be angry at both for different reasons. As a brit, you yank's tipping culture is ludicrous. Oh we have a Healthcare system... some of the best health care money can buy
If paying staff an actual fair wage bleeds your business dry, then you shouldn't be in business
Welcome to unchecked Capitalism. By your logic, the entire *country* should go out of business.
Yep, I understand. I seen a video somewhere where a guy was in a food court getting his own fruit & veg and when he paid at the touchscreen it asked if he wanted to leave a tip. WTF?!?!
We don’t disagree. We just know that it’s currently a federal law and very unlikely to change anytime soon.
Because you would have to change US labor law to make this happen.
Did you mean how those that work in a warehouses or other jobs where they break backs get minimum wage and those that sit behind a desk at HR for example make 2x as much? Not as bad as the U.S but not much better. And don't get me started on 0 hour contracts..
I’d meet them in the parking lot to hand it back to them.
They don't feed you at work?
[удалено]
I dj at a place where they give us all a free staff meal every shift which is nice
Tips don’t even exist in most places of the world so tipping is kinda stupid anyway
And so are these annoying broads 😅
In most places tips do exist, but they are given for exemplary service. Not by default, and it is always up to the customer to make that decision.
Exactly, i have no issue tipping at a restaurant, hotel, or i get a pizza delivery if the person was chill and gave good service. But workers shouldn't be demanding tips, and companies should be paying a standard living wage from the get go with tips being a little bonus to compliment great work
They're just trash. They use their religion as an excuse to treat other people poorly. Extremely common religious trash.
Religious people are the worst. Any religion I'll put that on my headstone
Thank God you're an atheist.
Thank Atheism, you're a God.
Nah, you only become a god if you get into super deluxe Mormon heaven.
How much does that cost?
10% of your pre tax income/year for life
I'll thank psychedelics for that
Sounds like a good name for a comedy show

I feel like there’s got to be a Buddhist neighbor who just pops in from time to time and ends up a fan favorite.
It they were capable of reading, they’d know their precious book speaks directly against what they’re doing. Matthew 6:1 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
The only way to identify a Christian is when they tell you.
These women are assholes at worst mentally ill at best.
I’m going for “I told you I was ill.”
bro was so proud of this headstone line he made a post asking about other peoples’ headstone lines lmao he replied me and blocked me
Hahahahahah that’s sad Reddit gold
A lot of mental issues right there.
A real: “I don’t mind ‘the gays’ I just wish they kept it in the bedroom and weren’t all in our faces about it” energy
Or they'll say it's a mental illness, while they are doing this shit. Look at that woman in red with 'blood line' on the shirt. You can't convince me that is normal behaviour.
Right?! Shes fucking annoying.
Ha ha! nailed it.

If everybody would realize religion is a personal thing, and not something you constantly need to express, the world would be a much nicer place.
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. It's amazing how many people who follow the Bible in fact do not follow the Bible lol.

As a Christian I feel like a flash bang would improve the atmosphere of this restaurant.
These sorts of theatrics are tied to the Evangelical Church which is quite prominent in the US but almost nonexistent everywhere else.
It also very literally contradicts the Bible, and not even the old testament stuff like Leviticus. Mathew 6:5 very clearly states that making a big show of praying is sinful.
This type of christian doesn't care what Jesus said to do, only what saying "Jesus" will let them get away with doing.
I wait tables. Praying at the table before a meal is semi normal. Most people don't, but some do.
Christ specifically forbade this behavior. No public prayer. No doing this to be seen by others. Don’t do as the hypocrites do…..
Do you think they actually KNOW anything about Christ?
A large aspect of the foundation of Christianity is ignorance, and identifying with illusions of separation. They don't even know themselves.
And ya know, Christianity kinda preaches being considerate for your neighbors…. Which this presentation is in direct violation of
I don’t know why but they put out this energy of being in deep into MLMs.
"No sir, we don't use money to pay our bill. We are owners of our own currency: 'Christ Coins'. What we invest in this life, carries over into the next. Now... Are you ready to own your afterlife?"
Great just what the world needs. Another fucking useless shitcoin
Religion is MLM, tax free.
Underrated comment
That shaky girl needs to chill, she's not even on beat.
tweaker energy

Needs the toilet!
Yeah, at first it looked like she was wafting away a fart.
Me too. Without sounds that can be the only explanation.
“Don’t shove your sexuality in my face” *gay couple existing*. Meanwhile Christians:
I would have called the cops and reported a cult disturbing the public.
Summoning dang ole Tiamat right here in the dad burn Golden Corral.
You just made my day.
I would have reached out to the manager 1st. If I could not eat my meal in peace, there are going to be problems.
You just know there are no spices in those households and their blowjobs are teethy.
That’s oddly specific and somehow likely accurate.

They should take that crap where it belongs....Walmart
This is why I stopped being a server. Large church groups are the worst customers. They leave a huge mess and do not tip.
![gif](giphy|4Zd2flP7zRI7QYQD4E|downsized) Sit the fuck down...please.
I wish I could do impressions well enough to have this guy show up as a villain at my DND table.
Can you um, do your cult chanting in private?
America. So many broken liars and clowns. I feel so sorry for the regular folks.
We ran out of regular folk years ago. Normal is the new outlier.
Are they trying to summon a demon?
Nah that would actually be kinda cool.
Demons don't want to come to this lame party.
Nah but the demon gets summoned anyway
To tell them to shut up.

Not a single one has read the book of Mathew.
I’d pull the fucking fire alarm.
Go do that at your church, leave the rest of us alone
every single one of them is fucking unhinged

I'd pray he set them on fire. Then we could all sit around and toast marshmellows.

Is that lady wafting her fart?
Didn't Jesus say something about not being one of these ostentatious assholes worshipping/praying in public but to pray in private where no one sees you?
Looks the first woman wearing grandma’s curtains, is waving a fart away! Or maybe it’s just the stinky holy spirit. 😂
I think one is having a seizure
If you're ever in this situation, call the manager over and ask for your food to be refunded.
Mental illness and delusion

Collective insanity.

Weirdos
From an atheist’s perspective they look mentally unwell.
Fucking nutcases.
Woman in white looks like she is constantly fanning her farts around the room.
Nope
This shit is so fucking weird
Love it when people force their religion onto others
What the fuuuuuck.... thats some cult shit right there.

Nothing like forcing beliefs on others. but I am sure if they were drag queens the good church people would be totally cool with it.
The women in the lace getup cutting farts?
This is simply mental illness. Lock them up in a psychiatric ward.
Mental illness is the biggest pandemic
I bet they always mention to others, "I'm okay with gays as long as they're not in my face and pushing it on to me". Replace "gays" with any minority group for the same statement for any other time in history.
Mmmmm yeah cult vibes, every one of the look like they need mental health help

This happened by me at olive garden one time so I stood up and granted Satan permission to invade their homes and lives. The manager actually told them if he has to make me pray in secret, then they will too. I know this sounds like r/thathappened but it's actually true
It has to feel amazing to be crazy
Horrible..
That is a gaggle of uneducated mentally ill people. I wonder what their Venn diagram of church to MLM to Trump support looks like, probably very close to a circle
So disrespectful to the other patrons. I hate this type of shit. Fucking Pharisees...
Anyone know what state this is in?
Jesus freaks in the wild 🤮
I love how the lady in white nearest the camera keeps spinning around to see if they’re getting attention.
