When my sister first moved for college to a new state some my dad visited her and took her out for dinner. Some drunk guy grabbed her steak with his hand and luckily a good patron bounced the guy out of the restaurant and the owner gave them a new steak and didn’t charge a dollar for the meal.
Good way to get arrested and charged with more than self defense. If they are on the ground and you are above them, any attack that can kill someone is no longer self defense.
I'd claim self defense heat of the moment fear of being in danger because my first reaction was grab them by the neck and smash their face into the corner of the counter

No Arizona jury will convict you for defending yourself. It’s very much a part of Arizona’s Wild West culture. The threat needs to be real and apparent but anyone that tries to enter your home or vehicle or brandishes a weapon at you in a manner a reasonable person would determine to be menacing you can defend yourself with deadly force with little to no chance of any DA prosecuting. Just don’t be the aggressor and don’t go looking for it and you will not be charged
They are defenseless on the ground. It is no longer self defense. Its now aggravated assault or 3rd degree murder. Essentially you are shooting someone who is on the ground unarmed if you curb stomp someone. And shooting someone in the back is almost a 100% conviction of wrongful use of firearms
The self defence laws in some parts of the US are one of the most based things about the country IMO. Too many countries put law abiding citizens on the back foot and end up endangering them.

There isn’t always a satisfying outcome, unfortunately. At least the guy trying to eat his Taco Bell didn’t end up lying in a pool of his own blood — best case his bathroom break later will be more intense than his encounter with this guy.
I always try to face entrances and exits in restaurants just instinctively now and while it doesn’t stop crazy at least maybe you’ll have a few more seconds to react.
Sometimes I wonder if anyone knows where the originals are to so much of the nonsense reposted across social media every day
The thieves in this case stole from Taco Bell, so I’m a bit ambivalent. Whoever recorded the security footage and posted it also stole it. But maybe TB is making money from the original so they should copyright strike it

The thief, now defeated, slinks off to rob another day. The victor watches hesitantly and resumes grazing.
Personal safety is top priority. If the guy is gonna leave you alone, that’s the best option. Call the cops after, show them the video and let them handle it.
Local grocery store in my home town. A guy was getting lotto tickets when a thug came in and tried to steal his wallet / phone that was in his cart next to him. The guy was able to grab the thugs hoodie and yank him to the ground, but instead of holding him there for the cops to come, he let the thug go back out the door.
5 minutes later the thug waltz back in with a pistol and shot the guy, took his wallet and phone anyway and left. Police did end up catching the thug but only after he shot at 3 other people. Unfortunately the guy passed away but nobody else was hurt. It was big news for a quiet town.
So if I'm ever in this situation you bet I'll sit on that dude until cops show up, cause I ain't gonna let him go get a weapon, or backup, or hurt anyone else.
Robbery is a felony almost always. In my state, you can make a citizen's arrest when you witness a felony. White shirt could have held him there until the cops arrived, and would most definitely not face any legal consequences.

Coulda choked him out on camera in self-defence and then called the authorities. Repeat step 1 as needed to keep him from escaping.
