He's experienced a traumatic childhood, found success in a job, was remarkably well adjusted, could find the good in people and tell the bad guys from the good, was a bit scared of love at first and finally took the step (Convo with Lydia about Eric toward the end), lost the love of his life and while he never fully recovered he didn't turn bitter and hateful, just kept trucking forward. He took care of everyone around him including Gracie. He was loyal, kind, and could shut shit down when needed. He was the most normal. Gay straight bi asexual - doesn't matter.
