You’ve been missing out on military discount for years.

I_Am_Just_Gil

I was with Sprint originally. I had the discount while I was in and had to prove I was still in using my military email address. I lost it once I got out. So with this one it appears that all they need is a DD-214 to prove I was in and is available to vets as well as active. When Sprint first merged with T-Mobile they told me there is nothing better than Unlimited Freedom. Unless they were full of it I thought I was getting the best deal at the time. Going to reach out to them to see what will change specifically.

StP_Scar

They were definitely incorrect. Military plans were available for vets on Sprint too

kerochan88

Depends how long ago he asked. I know back in the day, you did have to be Active.

mrrickyg

Only have to be a veteran now. We switched plan from mine into father in laws to get the discount

kerochan88

Yes, which is why I said “back in the day you had to be active.” As in, not anymore. Hasn’t been for a while. Just confirming that it used to be Active only.

mrrickyg

And I was just confirming your confirming

So many customers are misinformed about their plan being “the best plan” or it’s “grandfathered” so it’s a good plan… I have some customers who have Everything Data Share and pay $200 for 4 lines and will not switch to GO5G plus or even any other legacy TMO plan that can either be the same price with better phone promos, perks, and experience. Some of the plans we mention can even save them money but because someone told them a few years ago “you’re on the best plan, never change it!”, they do not trust what you have to say… I have seen some simple choice plans that never got the free unlimited upgrade and pay more than someone who is on T-Mobile One or Magenta plan yet get worst promos for upgrades but still hesitant to change… Always every few years check your plan, compare, and see if it makes sense to stay with what you have or move onto a new plan that might benefit you or your family!

jweaver0312

Here’s some things you may not be factoring in. A fundamental part of some of these legacy Sprint plans is Hulu, as in some customers will make this a sticking point that if they don’t keep Hulu, they will reject any plan change offer you attempt to make for that reason solely. In an instance like that, it won’t be worth it offering a customer another plan, unless you can get them on Go5G Next for the same price or cheaper. You should really do extra due diligence with some of these legacy Sprint plans, by not just looking at the plan and cost but also some of the extra feature codes that may be present.

TradeLegal4301

I worked for sprint and when we saw unlimited freedom and everything data share we would move them away from that plan to unlimited basic at the time pre merger… Hulu is no longer benefit and many have not used it that I came across and they will get Netflix which has content that most consumers watch or like. Go5G Next is for a very small fraction of customers… yes next will get 1,000 during off season but during holidays or phone launches GO5G plus has always obtained the same offers as Next. I appreciate the insight but I am very knowledgeable with both legacy sprint plans and legacy t-mobile plans vs our new plans. Not every customer is switched to GO 5G plans as sometimes magenta plan meets the requirements they need good promos with AAL with trade without raising their bill a whole lot. High rev plans will always be an option for the future or when the customer plans to upgrade 3 or more devices or when they’re in going into a segmented plan and the cost difference is not so much.

jweaver0312

> I worked for sprint and when we saw unlimited freedom and everything data share we would move them away from that plan to unlimited basic at the time pre merger… I hope you made the customer aware unlimited basic is a downgrade compared to their prior everything data or certain unlimited freedom plans, otherwise that makes you a very shady employee at best. > Hulu is no longer benefit 100% incorrect > Netflix which has content that most consumers watch or like. Not everyone shares in that opinion. Some still prefer Hulu over Netflix.

ShiggDiggler420

Hmm, on Magenta Max I get the ad-tier Netflix, Hulu-with commercials, AppleTV+ and MLB.TV. I actually switched over to Go5G+ just yesterday. 4 lines, with 1, insider discount along with AutoPay brings my bill to $148/month. I also have TMHI, so that's another $35/month. That'll bring my total to $183/month for 4 lines and TMHI. If I want to add a phone line, it'd be $28/month with the Insider Discount and Auto-Pay. That, along with the "free" streaming services seems like a solid deal to me. I'm not waiting for the DRM to get situated tho I'd love to add all my ĺocals to my PlexServer. Hulu-Free Netflix-Free Prime Video-Courtesy of my sis Peacock-$2.18/month Starz-$3.33/Month Disney+$2/month Philo-$25/month--makes the wife happy. Along with all the free ones like Tubi, Pluto, RokuTV, FreeVee I get *ALL* of those channels for the grand total of $32.51/month. Way more than enough for our Fam to watch at any given time. My local cable company has a "deal" where you get ONLY the OTA channels. The last time I checked they wanted somewhere between $20-$30/month for frigging OTA channels. THAT'S absolutely ridiculous!!!!

TradeLegal4301

All options are presented and you have to understand it’s not your perception… I am talking about the average consumer I have dealt with in both Sprint and T-Mobile… The average consumer did not utilize everything they had with everything data share so putting them on Unlimited Basic and offering them more for their money made them happy… Some consumers want to save money as some may had a hardship. I had some consumers wanted to switch to the 4 lines for $100 after being on Magenta Max for a few years and don’t care about upgrading often. In this business as a frontline employee you present all the options that the consumer wants or needs. There are times where there is upselling solutions based on the information obtained from the customer where we make recommendations and present why these device or plan would be beneficial. The company makes it simple to provide options and be able to upsell based on certain promotions, perks, and features of all the various rate plans!

jweaver0312

Definitely a shady sales person, I can tell that much already. Did you inform the customer their Everything Data 50 GB hotspot does down to 500 MB? Did you inform the customer their streaming quality would be impacted? I won’t even mention the 50 GB priority question, as it varies from case by case. In the broadest sense, did you inform the customer on what they give up by making the change? Based on your responses, I can already assume the answers to the question I have posed above, are no. You just heard lower bill and didn’t ask questions after that. You should be more fortunate that customers haven’t come back in screaming over you not disclosing something you should’ve disclosed. >I am talking about the average consumer I have dealt with in both Sprint and T-Mobile… The average consumer did not utilize everything they had with everything data share so putting them on Unlimited Basic and offering them **more for their money** made them happy… lol, you didn’t offer them *more for their money* at all. If I’m being given more for my money, that means **I’m getting more**, while either spending the same or less. Nothing about changing to unlimited basic is *more for their money,* it is just a lower bill and nothing else. Just because your average customer didn’t utilize it, doesn’t mean you don’t walkthrough every impact of changes anyhow, some customers may frankly not know that their plan offered something. That’s called taking advantage of the uninformed. >Some consumers want to save money as some may had a hardship. Everyone wants to save money. That just sounds like an excuse for you not to mention plan change impacts, that don’t revolve around money and take advantage of the uninformed customers that don’t know exactly what their current plan gives them. Agree to disagree ![gif](giphy|ZEfk5gTMUHSykAuQHY)

makichan_

Ikr I swapped to magenta max military asap after joining

turok_dino_hunter

You’re bamboozling yourself.

jweaver0312

I would do a full feature comparison before making changes.

I_Am_Just_Gil

For sure, I was looking on the site to see if there was a way to do this. I might just go to my local T-Mobile location and/or call customer care.

matthewmspace

That's the best idea. The website is known to lie. Make sure it's a corporate store.

Im-God__

How many lines, watches, tablets etc. How many paid how many free. Any promotions, any discounts.

I_Am_Just_Gil

5 lines, nothing else. All devices are paid for I buy them upfront from manufacture. I have the 5 dollar pay discount on each device and a 10 dollar legacy T-Mobile perk. So 35 bucks off. I pay around 205 a month after discounts.

JMikey01

5 lines on Go5G military is $135 with auto pay just fyi

workntohard

I am 210 with magenta military for 5 lines, could be lower with direct pay but don’t want to pay by debit.

DustyDaniel404

You may want to consider the T-Mobile Money account. They'll give you a debit card issued by BMTX Money. You can transfer money in from another account or add cash. You can add the card to your T-Mo account and then only add what the bill is each money. Even if you load cash at $5 per load you'll still come out ahead vs not having auto pay. This is what I personally do. I don't trust T-Mo with my debit card or ACH information so I use the T-Mo Money account and then only add what the bill amount is each money.

MrMs_Stevens

It's not a trick. Like I tell so many other people scared to change, the numbers don't lie. You will be saving money and having access to more premium data. Don't be fooled into paying more and getting less.

septlefty96

I switched to go5g military from the magenta military and Ive seen better coverage

gullzway

I'm still on the Sprint Military One plan with 6 lines for $110/month, tax included. My Unlimited on Us line transferred over when TMobile took over. Sprint introduced the Military One plan around 2020 I think. 4 lines for $100, $10 for lines 5 and 6, $20 for lines 7-9.

iWilhelm

I would call customer care instead of using Reddit. I recently switched to the Go5G Military standard plan from Magenta Military. The website only lists prices for up to 5 lines and I have more than that. So I called customer care to find out if my rate would change as it seemed most benefits would stay the same except for hotspot data gets boosted. I made the jump since T-Mobile raised prices I might as well get something for it. Turns out my rate will not go up. Increased mobile hotspot for all lines seems a bit fair for the amount the plan went up.

aztects17

I have Go5G Next Military and love it, my bill is around $700 a month with 9 phone lines / 2 home Internets / 2 watch lines / with paying a little extra for Netflix Premium. Though I do pay around $100 for device financing payments which is part of the $700.

Ill-Hovercraft-8957

That's more than my car note, yikes
