sorry to say but nps is not where events are really hosted anymore, but there are a bunch of places that had events. i was at the q107 canada day event in woodbine park for like 7 hours today lol i think the mayor was somewhere on danforth for a parade.

NightDisastrous2510

The city doesn’t have resources for it. Too busy renaming a square nobody gives a shit about lol

bubbaturk

That's because just down the street from Nathan Phillips Square at Queen's Park there was a Canada Day party. https://www.ola.org/en/media-centre/ontarios-legislative-building-queens-park-open-tours-canada-day Do some research first before you show up and get disappointed then run online to complain.

beef-supreme

Olivia Chow found 5 different Canada Day celebrations and yes even a parade today all in Toronto. Did you see these in your searches? https://x.com/MayorOliviaChow/status/1807960046904696870

terminese

Yawn. Looks like the type of event, a smalll town would throw together. That would be awesome in Dundalk,Ontario, I just think Toronto could organize a better celebration.

dianaprince76

If they put it together into one then sure, but then people would have complained about having to travel and how busy it was. Event organizers cannot win. Everyone will complain no matter what you do. Like in this case, you’re complaining but didn’t even attend any of the actual events

okaybutnothing

Sounds like you should offer your superior party planning skills to the city and jump on a planning committee for next year! Can’t wait to see the extravaganza you pull off!

Katlo1985

Downsview park - had a big beer garden, live music, food trucks , kids zone with inflatable rides, and 20 minutes of fireworks. Amesbury park - sales, games, food. Smaller community but still nice. Weston Lions park - fireworks, great food, swimming pool adjacent, small market, beer garden and live music. You just have to do some research and look up venues. You could post this to complain so you could have Googled Canada day events.

terminese

And literally nothing in downtown Toronto.

Katlo1985

Have you heard of the TTC? If you don't like the free options, then have your own party.

Sciencebang

Thats because all the fun people (pride celebrators) had JUST finished a 3 day celebration. Then they entered a sleep state to conserve energy on canada day.

joe__hop

Stan Wardlow park and the East York parade were really good.

mixedbag3000

They do celebrate. you have to check out the fireworks, and gangs of teenagers throwing fireworks at each other between the buildings, in the tower apartment neighborhoods across the city. The fun goes on until after midnight

Quiet-neighbour

Girl our fuckass country is failing. The vibe is downtrodden and sick. Nobody is happy. You want a happy Canada day? Do it at your house.

KayRay1994

this is what a lack of a cultural identity does to a nation

Quiet-neighbour

Our current cultural identity is desperation and strife lmfao.

yimmy51

[Don't forget poorly built condos no one can afford or would even want if they could!](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/throw-away-buildings-toronto-s-glass-condos-1.1073319)

hey_you_too_buckaroo

I thought Mississauga was pretty good. Multiple parties around the city.

Pella1968

Nobody gives a shit about Canada . Why should anyone else? Most people in this province aren't even Canadian.

Creapingvine

Lmao "most"? Bro you gotta do more research on your statistics. Ontario has a population of roughly 15 million Canadians. According to statistics Canada, in 2023 there were about a million and a half non-permanent residents. Take your racism somewhere else. We get it, you're butthurt over the people from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh coming to live here. Are you first nations? If not, you're not native from here, either. 🤷‍♀️

Pella1968

When your friends or people at work answer you that they are Italian, Portuguese, etc, talk about "back home" all the freaking time. Even if they have been in Canada for 50 plus years, that is not a proud Canadian. When you can live here and not have to speak a lick of English or French- our two official languages that is not assimilating. That is not being a proud Canadian.

Creapingvine

By that logic anyone who's proud of their heritage is not a Canadian to you? I'm third generation Scottish and I love my heritage, however I *also* love being Canadian and I love this country. The very fact that people can live here and still be accepted from all over the world and maintain a part of their culture is what makes Canada *Canada*. Your Boomer elitist attitude is what is disgraceful and makes us look bad, honestly. Maybe you should move to America to be with those who are like-minded and racist.

Pella1968

I wish I could move to America, trust me. If you still claim your Scottish after three generations, you're part of the problem and missed my point entirely. Ask the next person you see regardless of age or gender what do they consider themselves. I guarantee that Canadian is not what you will hear. There is nothing wrong being proud to come from so and so but not when you don't give credit to the country your in. If that is racist or being elite then I am proudly.

Creapingvine

Alright Grandma, time to go to bed. You're allowed to be proud of your heritage, and identify as both Canadian and whatever country you're actually native to. I'm not going to waste any more breath talking to a racist dinosaur. Hope you have a good one and that you die sooner rather than later and can make way for more educated and less ignorant folks.

cp1976

>If that is racist or being elite then I am proudly. Disgusting take. But go off.

cp1976

Ya ummmm.....I would delete this if I were you. Like now. You sound a little over pretentious, very racist and quite assuming.

faintrottingbreeze

How long have you been living Toronto? Have you ever tried going to Canada’s capital for Canada Day? Since you’re looking for festivities, why not go to Ottawa? A normally sleepy city turns into a huge street party for one night. I was born and raised in Ottawa and was quite disappointed myself when I moved to Toronto only to find out Canada Day wasn’t a big deal here. I’ve brought friends to Ottawa for Canada Day so they could experience it, there’s nothing like it.

forestly

richmond hill holds a party and 20min long fireworks on canada day

water2wine

Why is that some people think there must be a parade for everything, I don’t get it - Maybe people where enjoying a statutory holiday at home, eating some nice foods with their friends or family eh?

KayRay1994

sure, if this were family day or victoria day

ewixy750

Lot of countries do parades/march/something during similar days Not just 3 fireworks

cp1976

>and African dresses. Your racism is showing. >nothing says Canada Day like Brazilian drum beats. So underwhelming. Well looky here.....it's showing again here too.

terminese

So quick to play the race card, go away.

Lessllama

You played it first all because you fucked up and didn't do any research to see where the celebrations were being held

terminese

No, I had a look: https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/festivals-events/canada-day/ Just fucken underwhelming, I’ll stick to that assessment.

Lessllama

Yet you went to places not listed. Odd

deevidebyzero

Masses to mayor: we want more bread and circuses

justavg1

Toronto’s festivities are really boring, always a disappointment.

seyedalijavid

Canada has left the building. Did you not get the 📝
