Hi, r/torontotheatre! I'm a theatre nerd living in Chicago and had never been Toronto before this trip, had a great time. :)
I originally came just for Rosencrantz & Guildenstern since the dates lined up with my birthday, and everything else fell into place! Didn't know Great Comet was playing until a few days before I left and nearly wept when I found out, I never thought I'd get to see this show! And then Mirvish sent out an email for discounted Six orch tickets and I hopped on that day-of. It was nice to be out and about exploring all day and then settling in for a night of theatre after.
Loved everything that I saw, but wow was R&G something special. I didn't remember until I got there that I'd booked front row center (I was travelling when tickets went on sale and I panic-bought, ha), which was hella intimidating, but I did my best to play it cool. Great Comet was everything that I'd hoped for, just so much fun and beautiful; in spite of the drama, I still had a big dumb smile on my face the whole time. Did my best to be present and mindful and take everything in! Six, I've gotten lucky to see a couple of times back home, but it's always a fun time and different casts keep me coming back; the cast was all great and the audience around me was respectfully boisterous and having a blast. Wish I had the time and funds to see everything all over again! I really enjoyed my little jaunt to Toronto and can't wait to come back!
Glad to hear you had a great time & looking forward to coming back! Toronto theatre has definitely made a big come-back after the lockdowns and I'm super pleased to see it. Hoping my future trip to Chicago will as successful as your experience here :)
Fantastic! I was just wondering last week about theatre tourism in Toronto, and if theatre needs from elsewhere do come to Toronto for the shows, do I really appreciate your post. It is great to hear that you came and enjoyed! I certainly would like to get to Chicago someday too and check out the theatre scene there.
For sure! I think we get a lot of overlapping tours, but doing something unique like this version of R&G or Great Comet is such a great way of driving interest. Mirvish announcing Great Comet's return next year already has me trying to figure out how to get back haha. Hope you're able to make it to Chicago! Our cities are really similar, felt right at home!

I love Great Comet so much, I just wish there was a UK production so I could see it in person.
Hope a production finds its way there someday for you!! It was really worth the wait, totally lived up to my expectations.
Thank you so much for sharing your trip!!!! Seriously AWESOME shows you went and saw!!!!
Thank you!! I had such a fun time!
Super jealous! I would love to see R&G but it’s so far and I’ve already done a NY trip this year.
