Oh yeah, I just recently found out it's much more common in the UK. Here in the US it's not common at all.

Tortoises can dig and climb so it might have gotten in recently. He looks reasonably healthy except for a little bit of pyramiding which to me suggests he’s a somewhat recent escapee.
