I mean, tbf, it's a Warhammer Fantasy Forge World supplement that hasn't been in print in 15 years, detailing content that isn't sold anymore, for a setting that didn't exist anymore.
The novels are often considered to be secondary canon compared to the army/rule books, and as such do suffer occasionally from wonky lore due to GW editorial not double checking them like you think they should.
If you read the Valkia book she's a demon, which she wasn't, Skarsnik is born 40k Ork style despite that never being established before as a thing for WFB Greenskins and may well be retconned back as Half-Orcs have been mentioned for the Old World, Space Wolf scouts work like every other chapter ignoring that whole Blood Claw thing, and Titans can be comically short compared to their actual much more impressive heights established with the models.
Add to that pretty much anything written by Matt Ward or Gav Thorpe and you can see why people don't bother with many of the books outside of the actually known to be good ones.
Elspeth's "book" is the Forgeworld supplement that she was originally released in. The only other lore we have about her comes from the 4th edition of the RPG. As far as I'm aware there's no actual novel featuring her.
That she does not lead the Amethyst Order, as she is a Magisterix, i.e. a regular graduate, instead of the Matriarch, and that she does not participate in the politics of the Colleges of Magic were both established in her lore blurb that preceded her stats and special rules.
I couldn't remember if there was a novel for her either, so made what was meant to be more of a general comment about the novels in general which could explain if there were differences like that compared to her proper Forgeworld supplement established backstory where she was no longer involved with the college.
Gelt is Patriarch of the Gold Order, and Supreme Patriarch of all Colleges. The Patriarch of the Amethyst Order would be Viggo Hexensohn. Eslpeth was a Magisterix, but she counts more as in exile. She does not cooperate with the Magical Colleges, and tries to be independent and solitary. She does however cozy up to the political powers of Nuln, which gives her some leverage/protection against eager Witchhunters, or other authorities. The old Supreme Patriarch Thyrus Ghormann kept a watchful eye on her, so she would not do something to either harm the Empire or tarnish the reputation of Wizards further (since apparently her bloodline is cursed). I guess when Gelt took the position, he also had agents watching her activities. Ready to intervene if she steps out of line.
That makes me wish that instead of JUST colors, faction colors would be "material settings" instead. So instead of yellow, the units of Balthasar's faction would have a metallic sheen too. Just proper gold.
Would also reinforce the fact that they have more armor.
I know you're being downvoted, but I agree. There is a mod that makes purple the primary and yellow the secondary, and it looks fantastic. Purple is still a gold color too (look up colloidal gold).
I've got some bad news my friend:

I tried working on a recolor for the 3 where huntsmarshals had more greens to blend into the jungle with, and the cult of sigmar had whites for a 'church feel' but never got the mod working
You're gonna get the Balthasar Belt for this one.
Come back to me when his boys have solid gold armor
Thats a really bad bet to make with Gelt
That's one of the worst set of armor.
Heavy and malleable. What could go wrong?
The enemy gets leadership bombed by your unfathomable drip
Your post battle loot is through the roof from looting your own dead!
They shall never move again?
Lumalee! Lumabold! I’m transmuting your dick into solid gold!
You must be from Holland.
[Lumalee! Lumabun! Noteblock, give us a shotgun.](https://youtu.be/OX2gVbKfPtg?si=9M75OAAVBxGStQBM&start=418)
[Yup Holland](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu10DfWp4ss)
That province has been split in North and South centuries ago.
That needs to be an official voice line lol, damn.
I actually like the yellow... but maybe we didn't need it 3 times.
Empire needs to quit drinking the water downstream from Festus
we have a saying in this town. If its Yellow let it Mellow. If its Brown Drink it down and if its Black send it back.
Thats not the downstream water. Thats stirland pisswater.
Nuln's colours are black & red so it should buck the trend.
And black and red would fit nicely for Elspeth.
Nuln's color is OIL, you mean
![gif](giphy|agwRgmVDJceZO|downsized)
It could also be purple and black if she leads like the college of death like how gelt leads the golden order
Elspeth does not lead the Amethyst Order, she specifically does not enjoy or participate in College politics.
\-Elspeth fans read her book challenge

What if Half-Orcs happen when a pregnant mother inhales greenskin spores 🤔
Then she'll die from fungi lung infection
Books are for the terminally short.
Ah, musta been written by a dwarf.

>Viggo Hexensohn >named "Witchson" >is wizard Well certainly on brand for himself innit
*Smartest Warhammer fan:*
If your piss is that colour, drink more water. Lots of it.
Purple and gold is a great colour combo, you're crazy
It’s a good combo it’s just not utilized well with the troops.
I agree with you. Purple and gold is my go to. With pink or cyan highlights.
Ita only on the shield though. I don't see much purple on the troops.
Sure, for Slaanesh when you want to commit visual violation in vulgar violet. And yellow.
Odd that Gelt has it though and not, you know, the literal Emperor
That makes me wish that instead of JUST colors, faction colors would be "material settings" instead. So instead of yellow, the units of Balthasar's faction would have a metallic sheen too. Just proper gold. Would also reinforce the fact that they have more armor.
It's not even that purple
I don't see no purple

The. Throng. Is. Mustard.
But what about Red, with piss yellow heraldry?
Consult a doctor
Best I can give you is Black, piss yellow.
Everyone knows piss is red
Khorne cares not from where the blood flows
Hmm, need a doctor for that
Y'all need to drink more water.
I expect some Carmine and black for Elspeth von Draken.
CA: “You know what? We’re going to make stuff even more yellow. Playing this game is going to be like entering Mexico in the movies.”
I quite like that piss yellow color
I mean piss-yellow would be pretty on-brand for a Nurgle-themed DLC.
I dunno man, The Hunts Marshal Expedition heraldry is kinda fire, stands out for me.
I like that one, I wish purple was the primary for gelt and that Volky had a different color scheme to differentiate themselves.
Facts.
Honorable mention to Order of Loremasters with their horrendous Yellow/Orange that doesn’t match their faction banner or their LL.
I've got some bad news my friend: [https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammerfb/images/f/f0/Nuln\_Banner.PNG/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/237?cb=20141219065547](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammerfb/images/f/f0/Nuln_Banner.PNG/revision/latest?cb=20141219065547)
Thats the *Banner* But Nulns actual *uniform-Colours* have always been Black-Red.
By Sigmar the heresy. How dare you speak such insolence against our great golden boi
Whack opinion
I assume it will either be Nuln or based on Nuln, so probably red and black
[Toddy](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/58/91/bb/5891bbb441533962ed3a9bb5123ea0a7.png) can change things for blue.
Drink some water that is not the colour of piss
HOW DARE YOU!?
The chances of a Nurgle DLC to lower the piss are... not great.
I’ll never understand why the cult didn’t get a green and yellow. Like the sigmars sons colour but for a whole faction.
They really leaned into the twin tailed commet skaven rocket from warhammer 2.
Yes. Except gelt
the good, the bad and the ugly.
I think the golden order colors would look better if the troops were mostly purple with some yellow/gold outlines.
I tried working on a recolor for the 3 where huntsmarshals had more greens to blend into the jungle with, and the cult of sigmar had whites for a 'church feel' but never got the mod working
Ib4 the DLC lord is Marius Lieghtdorf lmao
You forgot The Mustard Throng
Yellow is a great colour you’re just mad
I fail to see anything wrong with this aesthetic.
What about [this](https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2947594987)?
The Huntsmarshal's Expedition's heraldry looks like plankton from Spongebob wearing a weird hat. Golden Order's heraldry is fine though.
I hoped that Balthasar would have white-gold as his colours.
I could care less about Warhammer III. I only care for Pharaoh.
Why did I have to laugh so hard hahahah
