every time i create an account on a site i suspect will bother me with spam i create a new mail alias under my domain name. they start pouring into my main email, but if they start to annoy me i simply redirect them to my almost-never-checked bottomless pit account lmao
Because the emails are stored on servers and the more emails you have, the more space is "consumed" on those servers, which means that they will need more energy to be upheld.
But if it's a server hosted by a person, then wouldn't it only ever use more energy when they add more physical storage? Data storage doesn't consume energy, only the hardware used to do it, which is independent of the amount of data stored.
Storage media, HDD or SSD, consumes minuscule amounts of energy and the consumption does not change depending on if the disk is full or not.
An HDD will need to spin up its motor when information is read from it and will spin down when it is idle. An HDD will consume energy only when writing or reading from memory cells as well. The difference is not that great however. About 6W for an HDD and 2W for an SSD when active and less than 1W when idle.
To put it in perspective, a filament light bulb will consume 60W, an electric kettle 1200W, a microwave 1200W, and an electric stove 2300W.
If your emails are stored on a provider's server, they'll be stored alongside billions of other emails in a very efficient manner. Companies like Google even move "cold" data (not accessed often) to storage that's designed to be as energy efficient as possible to cut down on costs and emissions.
TL;DR: Get LED light bulbs and take the bus/train, it's exponentially more efficient than deleting your emails.
Yeah, it’s from Snapcube’s Sonic Adventure dub.
Those two things are from the same episode actually.
Go check out the Dark Story lol, but maybe watch the Hero Story first, it’s just better watching Alfred really make the character go off the deep end when you see him play Eggs with a semblance of sanity.
Can you get charged with fraud if you sign up for something free on many e-mails?
Should be their problem, not the consumers, for using an authentification service that can be recreated in 5 seconds instead of a photoID/driver's license
It depends on what you do with them. If you make one for games, one for social media, one for private etc there wont be an issue but if you make 20 to exploit free trials or something you might get investigated for suspicious activity.
NewPipe already does both (as in playing the video directly, and a popup on screen if you want).
if the issue is whitelisting certain channels to show ads though, idk as much... open an [Issue](https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/issues) in the public repository or something, someone sooner or later might try to do stuff (even you can join and build stuff if you're interested someday) :3
They're tweaking the base Youtube app, so it's closed source as youtube itself is closed source. I don't think they could afford the lawyers if they released the official app's source code
Apple users chose to have a closed ecosystem so it's on them when they don't have access to content
Vanced is available through [the official Vanced website](https://vancedapp.com/), you download the manager once and then you don't ever have to deal with manually installing APKs for Vanced apps, so no risk of ever getting pirated (unless the official website itself is hacked but that's an issue with anything installed on your phone really)
Ah okay that makes sense but nevertheless it's a closed source apk I'm installing and I can't be safe if there is some hidden code (not that I could be with FOSS as I can't check it myself but with F-Droid I get more safety).
Not every apple user choses and apple has some advantages. For example a children/adolescent who can't decide on their own. And maybe apks aren't just worth to give up apples advantages.
Or proxying the site local or already installed malicious apps that don't have as much power as possible with a fresh apk but can move and delete files.
And you have to find the official website and trust it and there is a risk of getting to the wrong site.
That was how most of mine started, then I recycled them all to make burner accounts for the purpose of spreading psychological terror across right wing social media during the Gropenfuhrer years.
This may or may not also be why all of my devices have been perma-banned from Twitter until the end of time.
That sounds incredible, but my main issue is untangling the mess of subscriptions and accounts from the web of inboxes.
It will be so much work to move everything over, and I want to settle on my chosen name before I start that process.
Then I may recommend you SimpleLogin. (30$/year, free of you go school/uni or similar)
You can create Aliases (not connected directly with your e-mail) and name them after anything (mostly after the service you sign up for) and all the emails you get there to the email you selected. But you can always change that.
There is a thing for gmail where you can enter for example "spamsite-(youremail)@gmail.com.
Then, "youremail" recieves it but with a thing telling you it is leaked from that place. I believe you can then block anything incoming with "spamsite-..." as its email adress
I think the character you enter is - but IDK.
This does not help if your old e-mail has your deadname, but if it has your true name and you need aliases for spam there's no need to pay some fuckers for it (unless you have other benifits)
Just the two. Only issue is that one is super childish because I made it at 11 and have too much stuff on it to get rid of it amd the other I nedd to change in the future for personal reasons.
I also have the email from when I was 11 which will certainly never leave me because of the probably hundreds of things it’s tied to.
Thankfully mine is based on a gender neutral nickname I had so I could just change my name in google for that one.
You ever forget the password to the recovery email for the email you forgot the password to which is the email you need to access to reset your vitally important account password?
It happened to this man.
Let that be a warning to all of us.
Either get a password manager or embrace the inevitable and use the same password for everything; making each data breach like a spark in a gunpowder factory.
my main (my parents made)
my second (made bc creating an account with my main email was messing up so i made another account with a.new email, which my parents know about)
one for yt (never posted but it exists, parents dont know about)
my gay one (the one i use for anything amd everything lgbtq+ related, parents dont know about)
lastly, my school email (deleted when i became homeschooled)
7
One I made as a kid
One I made for spam and subscription stuff
One I made for secret accounts (mom checked my email)
One made for naughtys
One for work
One for my high school
One for my university
I have two for each my deadname and my real name, one for gaming/unofficial stuff, and one for official things like school. I also have a dedicated one for registering to nsfw websites 😏
Many, I don't know the exact number. I still use my old Hotmail now Outlook address because I am too lazy to update online accounts, etc., and I want to keep the stuff in my folders. I have emails for different uses and there are some that I have abandoned lol.
4 inboxes on my iPad right now. Which receive emails from … 9 emails? With about 9212 unread emails.
Plus maybe like four more that I don‘t check anymore.
Just with gmail
If you add a "." it looks like a new account to all the pages
and if you use "+" it looks like a new one but isn't
Examples
"[email protected]" and "[email protected]" are the same mail but you can get different facebook account or similars and all the notifications go to the same mail
same with "[email protected]" you can add whatever you want after the "+"
So now I use just one mail to everything
I did not anticipate this level of solidarity over email clusterfucks.
I didn’t even mention the joys of having to manually unsubscribe or edit any newsletter that deadnames me. I’ve just been taking it lying down for now.
5-6. Some get used for public stuff like GitHub, while others are only used for private stuff. I specifically also made another Gmail account with my preferred name, since all of my other ones have my deadname on them
I have 7, but only actively use 4. Slowly transitioning over to my email without my deadname, but it's sadly gonna have to take some time since I'm closeted outside of my family.
I do not know lol. I’ve had like three main ones in my life, plus other ones, some of which closed from inactivity. I don’t really know why I switched some of my accounts. In retrospect it seems weird.
2, a personal account I use for all the stuff I am out for, and one I use for all of my professional stuff and for communicating with people I am not out to.
4
1 old one that I barely use anymore, another that I made as a hotmail with the same name, 1 for stuff like youtube and google fourms and stuff, another with the same name as my normal email just a hotmail
I have so many that I just abandoned with thousands of emails in the inbox lol sometimes I use them just to sign up to websites I will only use once such as Quora
I've got four.
* One account that uses my real name that I use for irl and more professional stuff.
* One account that's my main online account. Pretty much everything gets attached to that.
* An older main account that I keep around because a bunch of random stuff is signed up through or attached to that account.
* A throwaway account I use to sign up for stuff that's likely to be spammy or I otherwise don't want attached to my main online presence.
I made too many over the years and it's a struggle to cut back on them especially when a few have important things I don't want to lose like one of my old Gmail's has Google app purchases.
Solid 3.
Plus three Pinterest accounts. One for school (I'm taking art.) One that's my old one and uses He/Him pronouns. And one that is newer, I use more regularly and uses my preferred pronouns of She/Her.
I have 4.
• one I use for professional things and things that would send emails to my mail and I can notice.
• one I use for apps, games and websites that seem kind of sketchy and don’t have any of important things done with it.
• one I made for a new account on an old app, I use that as I do with the email above
• one I use with some important things because I simply can’t change the email everywhere, and this one has my preferred name
I used to have 4, which were all something along the lines of [email protected], [email protected], etc, but 2 got stolen a while ago so now there's a big gap in my addresses :/
7 or something, I’m in the process of deleting a lot of unnecessary and old accounts. Including old social media accounts because ✨i hate seeing my old pictures online✨
2 for work and family stuff
3 for horsin around, have a lot of unnecessary accounts because I tried to sign into instagram one too many times and the sign up process alwasy got messed up.
I have two primary ones, but I’ve created at least six or seven. I have my regular/professional one and the Gmail account I made for a new PSN/XBL account and my gaming stuff in general.
I actually kinda chose my name because my primary email address has my initials and I didn’t really want to change it.
Four I actively use.
Old standard email
One for more official purposes
New standard one that doesn't deadname me
New one for official purposes that doesn't deadname me
rn only two, the one with my deadname forever attached to it that I plan to yeet into the sun moment I fully come out, and the one I use for gaming stuff, which I don't want linked to my irl stuff. I haven't made an irl one under my true name yet because I still haven't conclusively decided whose last name I'm taking but it's probably going to be my mother's given that my father's most recent girlfriend is a monster and she has way too much influence over him
Two for my current (and probs permanent name) now (a main and throwaway), one for my old, and like four for my deadname. I still have accounts on all of them and semi regularly use each one, it’s an absolute mess…
Three (technically seven, but four of those are obsolete, so three):
One email for work and professional stuff
One email for personal stuff with friends or social media accounts
And a yahoo inbox full of spam
i have 3 under my deadname- one stopped working for whatever reason so i just made a new one & a separate one for work. then i made one with a name i picked when i thought i was non binary, aaaand finally i have one under my chosen name.
probably gonna replace the work email with a new one under my chosen name once i come out at work, making it 5, soon to be 6
4, two with my dead name in them (help) 1 with 'girl' in it (why) and 1 is kinda cool because it technically is trick007, which, hah, yes, I tricked you. You thought I was girl, but no, boy time!
I'm thinking about starting another email with my chosen name though just because.
I’ve my own domains with my own servers. So i’ve an INFINITY OF EMAILL
UNLIMITED BOTTOMLESS BREADSTICK COUPONS
every time i create an account on a site i suspect will bother me with spam i create a new mail alias under my domain name. they start pouring into my main email, but if they start to annoy me i simply redirect them to my almost-never-checked bottomless pit account lmao
just delete everything every once in a while, the planet will thank you <3
Why's that?
Because the emails are stored on servers and the more emails you have, the more space is "consumed" on those servers, which means that they will need more energy to be upheld.
hmm... null@hostname? /dev/null but for emails

sameeeee lmao
200,000 accounts are ready, with a million more well on the way.
And in a single voice, they all cry out: “WE WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT YOUR CAR’S EXTENDED WARRANTY”
AS WELL AS YOU DIRECT TV SUBSCRIPTION YOU'VE NEVER ACTUALLY HAD! 😂
One for r/transclones
Huh. Cool subreddit.
What’s that one (fake) egg man quote about having like 20,000 alt accounts? Because this reminded me of that
Would you mean "YOU FOOL!I HAVE 70 ALTERNATIVE ACCOUNTS"
That’s it!
eggman? Like Dr. Robotnik eggman? Haven't seen that one, is it from that "shadow the hedgehog is a bitch ass motherfucker" video?
Yeah, it’s from Snapcube’s Sonic Adventure dub. Those two things are from the same episode actually. Go check out the Dark Story lol, but maybe watch the Hero Story first, it’s just better watching Alfred really make the character go off the deep end when you see him play Eggs with a semblance of sanity.
Episode 2 star wars reference 😏
waaay more than I need
I was going to say there’s no such amount but guess I dont *need* to risk a fraud conviction by double dipping on olive garden coupons.

Like 13 I make a new one each month to get free YouTube premium
that's a lot of trouble instead of installing Youtube Vanced (advanced but without ads)
NewPipe is cool :3
NewPipe!
Chads have both
Vanced so you can login, newpipe to download.
Vanced for the features, newpipe so you can watch age restricted
Where do I download all these cool things?
Vancedapp .com Only for Android. Newpipe .net. Also only fruit Android
Thank you kind stranger☺ *blows a kiss your way* Sorry, I don't do it on purpose, affection is a soft spot for me
Age restricted?
In europe you can't watch certain age restricted videos without giving google either your credit card or your id
which features does NewPipe lacks compared to Vanced?
The ones I like the most are the popout and the sponsorblock
NewPipe already does both (as in playing the video directly, and a popup on screen if you want). if the issue is whitelisting certain channels to show ads though, idk as much... open an [Issue](https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/issues) in the public repository or something, someone sooner or later might try to do stuff (even you can join and build stuff if you're interested someday) :3
Oh so that's what that means! Bruh how did I never notice that? XD
well I just saw a reddit comment saying this, I didn't notice it at first either :P
But isn't Vanced Closed Source? And maybe they're on an iPhone and installing apks is more complicated and directly riskfully then their way.
They're tweaking the base Youtube app, so it's closed source as youtube itself is closed source. Is it free?
Yea
Genius!
That was how most of mine started, then I recycled them all to make burner accounts for the purpose of spreading psychological terror across right wing social media during the Gropenfuhrer years. This may or may not also be why all of my devices have been perma-banned from Twitter until the end of time.
I finally pulled the plug and started paying for email (mailfence for $5/month) which lets me have 10 aliases
That sounds incredible, but my main issue is untangling the mess of subscriptions and accounts from the web of inboxes. It will be so much work to move everything over, and I want to settle on my chosen name before I start that process.

Lucky you. I wanted play Battlefield and make some dumb email with Shrek in it to match my 'Get-Shreked' name. So pathetic lol
That is honestly fantastic. If someone gave me an email address with Shrek in it, I would view that as the opposite of a red flag.
got 7 but lost the password to another 3 tho
You ever forget the password to the recovery email for the email you forgot the password to which is the email you need to access to reset your vitally important account password?
yup exactly what happened to those 3 emails lmao
It happened to this man. Let that be a warning to all of us. Either get a password manager or embrace the inevitable and use the same password for everything; making each data breach like a spark in a gunpowder factory.
17 accounts. Probably more Edit: I have 22
my main (my parents made) my second (made bc creating an account with my main email was messing up so i made another account with a.new email, which my parents know about) one for yt (never posted but it exists, parents dont know about) my gay one (the one i use for anything amd everything lgbtq+ related, parents dont know about) lastly, my school email (deleted when i became homeschooled)
I mange three at the moment. One was because my psychologist recommend I create a new account with my prefer name.
At least three
I only have 1 gmail, but I have like 4 other adresses+2 from university
I got 3, one with deadname, one with my name and one for a discord alt
7 One I made as a kid One I made for spam and subscription stuff One I made for secret accounts (mom checked my email) One made for naughtys One for work One for my high school One for my university
6 I think
Me too!
full blown gmail and the restraining orders over here
Four lol
I have two for each my deadname and my real name, one for gaming/unofficial stuff, and one for official things like school. I also have a dedicated one for registering to nsfw websites 😏
1 🏆
WAIT, THAT'S A TRANS THING? (like, 30 or 40)
Many, I don't know the exact number. I still use my old Hotmail now Outlook address because I am too lazy to update online accounts, etc., and I want to keep the stuff in my folders. I have emails for different uses and there are some that I have abandoned lol.
4
like 15? i made most of them to start more Genshin Impact accounts,,,
I got 7-10 and google told me there were more than max of the keep signed in accs lmao
4 inboxes on my iPad right now. Which receive emails from … 9 emails? With about 9212 unread emails. Plus maybe like four more that I don‘t check anymore.

5, I thought that was a lot but then I read the other comments
Just with gmail If you add a "." it looks like a new account to all the pages and if you use "+" it looks like a new one but isn't Examples "[email protected]" and "[email protected]" are the same mail but you can get different facebook account or similars and all the notifications go to the same mail same with "[email protected]" you can add whatever you want after the "+" So now I use just one mail to everything

Between multiple web mail services, two domains I own, a few aliases on a friend's domain, at least 11.
Two. One for personal, which I made when I was 14. The other is for professional and work related stuff.
only 3.
I do not know lol. I’ve had like three main ones in my life, plus other ones, some of which closed from inactivity. I don’t really know why I switched some of my accounts. In retrospect it seems weird.
You fool, I have 𝟳𝟬 𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗦!!!!!
I have 5 😔
8, I have 8 emails.
Had 4, down to 2 now 💪😤
I have 2. One for buissiness, and one for pleasure
Google Blocked my phone number, i can't make more GMail accounts xD
Way, way more than I need
2, a personal account I use for all the stuff I am out for, and one I use for all of my professional stuff and for communicating with people I am not out to.
1 I have 1

I have 4 I created, Plus one someone else made for me when Spotify wouldn't let me make an account.
42
"you fool, I have 70 ALTERNATIVE ACCOUNTS"
11..13..?
6, of which two are school, one is actually used, and the remaining three are spam collectors, and have outlived their original purpose.
Too many, brought a new domain name (for my custom email) to replace my old domain name containing my deadname
You win some you lose some lmao
Like, 5 of them, I mainly use one tho
I got 4 for some goddamm reasons
4 1 old one that I barely use anymore, another that I made as a hotmail with the same name, 1 for stuff like youtube and google fourms and stuff, another with the same name as my normal email just a hotmail
2 if you don't count my university accounts
I have so many that I just abandoned with thousands of emails in the inbox lol sometimes I use them just to sign up to websites I will only use once such as Quora
3. A purely recreational email, a standard/work email, and a career/hobby email.
one account with multiple addresses at protonmail :3
About 70 alternative accounts
just 3 atm but thinking of making a 4th
They won't let me create anymore....
proud owner of 20 email accounts i only use like 3 of them lmao EDIT: its actually 24 I forgot about my gmail accs
like between uh 6 and 814
I've got four. * One account that uses my real name that I use for irl and more professional stuff. * One account that's my main online account. Five, though four of them were created to gerrymander the Pokemon of the Year vote. It didn't work. At all.
I made too many over the years and it's a struggle to cut back on them especially when a few have important things I don't want to lose like one of my old Gmail's has Google app purchases.
I wanted to make more but this shit requires a phone number and ;---------;
2 One deadname and one with new name
4 or 5

Probably 5 Yikes
i have so many its telling me too many accounts are linked to my phone number and i cant create more
7 or something, I’m in the process of deleting a lot of unnecessary and old accounts. Including old social media accounts because ✨i hate seeing my old pictures online✨
Enough to count on two hands
2 for work and family stuff 3 for horsin around, have a lot of unnecessary accounts because I tried to sign into instagram one too many times and the sign up process alwasy got messed up.
I have two primary ones, but I’ve created at least six or seven. I have my regular/professional one and the Gmail account I made for a new PSN/XBL account and my gaming stuff in general. I actually kinda chose my name because my primary email address has my initials and I didn’t really want to change it.
5 I think. I only really use 2 of them though, and the one I made with my deadname I straight deleted.
5 Gmails, 1 ProtonMail, 1 Tutamail and 158 Aliases with SimpleLogin!
Pro-tip: Outlook allows you to create as many email addresses as you want on one account and change which one is your primary at any time.
Four I actively use. Old standard email One for more official purposes New standard one that doesn't deadname me New one for official purposes that doesn't deadname me
I think 7 lol
I have 3 :T
i don't even know how many i have but i regularly use 3
About 5-6 but I abandoned like 3 of them, now I have my burner(old main), my main(old alt), And ze school email God egg me was weird
Aside from school emails, about 6 gmails, one other email, and several attempts at a throwaway
I got rid if a bunch of them by resetting my phone, now I only have half a dozen or so.
like 14
53, 14 of which are currently lost to the aether of the internet’s void.
14 plus 7 more that I've forgotten the password of
Too many and one of them has over 20k unread emails

I've only got uhhh 7 and I think I missed some dang I don't have enough
WE ARE LEGION
Two for my current (and probs permanent name) now (a main and throwaway), one for my old, and like four for my deadname. I still have accounts on all of them and semi regularly use each one, it’s an absolute mess…
Three (technically seven, but four of those are obsolete, so three): One email for work and professional stuff One email for personal stuff with friends or social media accounts And a yahoo inbox full of spam
65 exactly
i have 3 under my deadname- one stopped working for whatever reason so i just made a new one & a separate one for work. then i made one with a name i picked when i thought i was non binary, aaaand finally i have one under my chosen name. probably gonna replace the work email with a new one under my chosen name once i come out at work, making it 5, soon to be 6
4, two with my dead name in them (help) 1 with 'girl' in it (why) and 1 is kinda cool because it technically is trick007, which, hah, yes, I tricked you. You thought I was girl, but no, boy time! I'm thinking about starting another email with my chosen name though just because.
Lost like 4 passwords so probably like 12-13 in total
4 including my outlook
let's see... one primary, one secondary, one work email, one university email... so four.
Only one with my deadname because my dad uses family link so I need permition to do anything in my phone
At least 5
YOU FOOLl! i have 70 ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS
WAYYYY more than I need xD (Also have a great day everyone! ^w^)
Bonus points if like a lot of your passwords are your deadname but you dont remember which🥲 Totally not me or anything
I have 12 I think?
I have 4 that I actively use, and 2 that I'm currently phasing out
I got 2
Close to 25 by now
I have 2, both are full of emails I haven't looked at.
19... i have a problem
Me too ahaha. I think I have…Uhm probably 10+
