That ought to be the definition, because it's absolutely accurate.
At least I think it's sufficient, but not necessary, to define a tragedeigh.
The last Lena I knew was the opposite, everyone constantly and incorrectly assumed her name was pronounced "Leena," so her parents fixed the mistake and changed the spelling to "Lenna" when she was in preschool.
"Dad, why is lil sis called Morning Dew On Rose?"
"That's because it was the first significant thing your mother saw after giving birth. Why do you ask, Two Dogs Fucking?"
Ah the guy called "Two Dogs" was part of a joke, by Terry Pratchett, his twin brother was "One man bucket" short for *One-Man-Pouring-A-Bucket-Of-Water-Over-Two-Dogs.* Someone thought the first kid's full name was "Two dogs fighting", response "He would have given his right arm to be called Two dogs fighting!".
Never heard of it being pronounced Lay-nuh that’s weird af. Where I’m from, the go-to pronunciation is Lenn-ah since, you know, that’s closest to
how it’s spelled.
its actually quite common for "eigh" to be pronounced as "ee" rather than "ay" from what i seen in this sub. i dont quite recall but there's a bunch of other ways it can go too...
I know, I was responding to the poster above me. I wasn't sure if the parents were just making it even more confusing. There was no "eigh" in that post.
Does your oddly spelled name make you feel special like your mom wanted?
In other words, did she correctly set you up for a good life?
Or are you forever spelling your name to eyerolls?
It sounds like your mom wanted your middle name to be Nicole, but when they asked, your mom sneezed as she was saying it, and that’s what they wrote down.
If you're in an English speaking country and your parents wanted it to be pronounced a certain way I see leigna making sense.
In the Netherlands Lena is a fairly common name, pronounced lay-na or leighna. (/leɪnə/) For those unfamiliar with the name they might think it's Lee-nah (/Li:nə/) (you can use 'ipa-reader DOT xyz' for the sounds)
It's one thing to intentionally change the spelling, but I'm constantly surprised by parents who just guess at spelling something so important and permanent as their kid's name.
My grandpa’s mom misspelled his last name on his birth certificate but she was a dirt poor sharecropper and the last name had two traditional spellings, she (or the clerk or someone) just picked the wrong one
My sister was talking to a woman whose young daughter was named Mallisa. When she asked why they'd chosen an unconventional spelling of Melissa, the woman said, "Is there another way to spell it?"
Oprah Winfrey's mother actually meant for her name to be pronounced "Or-pah". But Oprah just went with the logical pronunciation (Oh-pra).
My dad's middle name is Leroy. But it's pronounced "Lah-ROY" with the emphasis on the second syllable. His mother was only 14 & his dad was 16.
I believe Oprah's mother was young, too.
My aunt was named Penelope because her mom read the name in a book and thought it was pretty.
But because she learned the word from reading, her mom pronounced it like the fruit cantaloupe so she was Pen-e-loupe until she went to school and her teacher embarrassed her.
I was born in 86. I watched all my friends and school mates get married and have kids (they’d announce on Facebook) most of the names I was like 😬 And I would think “I bet the kid is gonna hate that when they get older”. They’re going to be correcting people their whole life”.
Now, I see these kids have grown up and are posting on Reddit and Tiktok and yep- they don’t like their names 👌🏻
She truly thought that’s how Nicole was spelled and until like 5th grade I thought it was spelled Nicole and spelled it wrong until I was old enough to see my birth certificate lol
It is hilarious that as a primary schooler you were spelling it correctly, and as an adult she didn’t! Even though the spelling is Tragic, the name is very pretty!
Yes, I'm sorry, but your first and middle names are both textbook tragedeighs. I know in the Ten Commandments it says to honor your mother and father, but in an extreme case like this, that doesn't apply. You should slap them, call them jackasses, and make them pay for your name change.
Girl, you're the exact same age as me! 8 years ago I got my name legally changed from the bullshit my parents gave me. I fixed the spelling of my first name and changed my middle name completely, and I felt such relief when the change was finalized and I got my new SS card and my new ID... I love staring at my ID now because I'd hated the old name since I was in early grade school and now my name makes sense at long last.
It took me a while to come up with it and I’m not even sure it works
But after Onesty and the other crazy one that I forgot but it’s somewhere in this sub, I thought there surely is a pre-stripper named Condolence in Texas or some similarly shittily naming place
It seems to be the common opinion in this sub (and I can’t disagree) that naming your daughter something like Chastity means sealing their fate as a stripper in the future. In mind that’s a “pre-stripper” name 😂
yeah, hate to say it but they did you wrong. the weird spelling plus the sounds... lee na na na na na na na no cole. probbly one of the worst middle names to go with your first name. it's pretty easy to change your name. Lena Nicole is a lot less messy.
What’s funny about Nocole is that every other vowel including Y would have been a better option and closer to the pronunciation of Nicole.
Necole
Nacole
Nycole
Nucole
Nocole is actually the worst variation. Congrats!
That you come from a family who makes bad impulse decisions and who also don’t like asking others for help 😊
Seriously though, I hope your family is doing good!
Your name sounds like a Viking trying to say “I have a head cold” but you can’t make him out because of his accent and the fact that he’s eating a whole chicken and his mouth is full

If you have to put another name in parentheses…not a good sign.
So they changed it to pronunciation "Leh-na?" Is that what they wanted? Isn't it usually "Lay-na" or "Lee-na?"
Name was spelled "Lena" and pronounced "lenna." They changed it to be spelled as lenna, so people said it correctly.
Depends on how you pronounce Lenna. Considering the other post where Cooper was pronounced Copper...
It’s pronounced “Throat-Warbler Mangrove”
"Dad, why is lil sis called Morning Dew On Rose?" "That's because it was the first significant thing your mother saw after giving birth.
Yea, and if the parents in that story had any sense, they would do the same as above and change the spelling to match how it's pronounced.
Lay-nuh and Lee-nuh are both common pronunciations of Lena. Lenn-ah is not. That's bizarre, where'd they get that?
Lena pronounced Lenna is a common middle eastern name. I’ve met at least 3-5 middle eastern women all named that all pronounced the same.
Never heard of it being pronounced Lay-nuh that’s weird af. Where I’m from, the go-to pronunciation is Lenn-ah since, you know, that’s closest to how it’s spelled.
its actually quite common for "eigh" to be pronounced as "ee" rather than "ay" from what i seen in this sub. i dont quite recall but there's a bunch of other ways it can go too...
It is, but it's also entirely unnecessary to change Lena to Leighna, lol.
I know, I was responding to the poster above me. I wasn't sure if the parents were just making it even more confusing. There was no "eigh" in that post.
I’m a Lee-na who everyone assumes is a Lenn-a. There’s no escaping it no matter which way you go 😂
My greatgrandma was called Lena. It never occurred to me to spell it any other way.
Lina
Lmaoooooo
It’s tragic 😂
Tradjique
The only reasonable exception would be if it is a name that is more common in a different language.
Great rule of thumb. Now, if you have to spell the better, more pleasing version in parentheses, hoo boy...
Parents making it clear that she’s not named Cole
Anything but Cole!
No Coles today.
No. Coles today!
One of her parents is Lionel Hutz 👏
But we’re expecting a new shipment of Coles next week.
She's Nocole after all
Parents changed their mind midway through registering the name. Q: What is your childs name? A: Leighna. No! Cole!
Neighcole 🐴
This would have been the consistent choice for a middle name though!
You mean middle....neighm 🐴
You son of a... r/angryupvote
I laughed way too hard at this
I SNORTED
Double tragedy.
Doughbal tragedeigh
This was the review I left for Papa John's
lol yes!!!!
Nocole is bad.
It’s so unpleasant to the eyes to read
I’ve been called NO COLE my entire life lolol
Even after being corrected I don't think I could stop myself. We couldn't be friends I'd have to step back before I became a bully lmao
I’m sorry we are all making fun of your name. You seem like a really cool person who doesn’t take yourself too seriously
Check out her newest post. She named her own daughter a tragedeigh
The circle of leighf
NO. It’s a double tragedeigh
Your middle name should be Slaw.
No coleslaw? Can I get fries with that?
Because that’s your name. English has rules
Some Cole is good though
Eh
But not too much, I'm on a diet.
I feel like mom had an ex called Cole
Nocole is pronounced No-Cole, not Nick-ol…1000% tragedeigh.
I think it’s actually “Knuckle”…
This is Knuckles, he’s an echidna
And he has a cloaca.
And nipples. And a multi-headed penis.
With a certain accent
I read it as No-koh-lay 🤷🏽♀️
Yodeled in the Swiss alps?
🎵 *no-ko-lay-hee-hooooo!* 🎵
*riiiii-co-laaaa!*
I read naw-cole
it's a damn catastropheigh
😂😂😂😂
Leighna Nocole instead of Lena Nicole? Double trouble
Doughbal Troughboul
This shouldn’t get funnier the more I re-read this comment but somehow it does
Lmaoooo
Does your oddly spelled name make you feel special like your mom wanted? In other words, did she correctly set you up for a good life? Or are you forever spelling your name to eyerolls?
My whole life I’ve been telling people no it’s not layna NO COLE or legna or legina or Leeann lol
🌟 Legina 🌟
Sounds like a legendary vagina.
Or a French one
ligma

My first thought was dang this user is really doxxing herself with a unique name like that, then I look up and see your user name lol.
I mean, if she hadn't said that was her name I would have never looked at the username and thought "that's obviously her real first+ middle name".
Not to mention the 87, giving our her age.
>Then that middle name comes in - edge of ghetto, Sorry but Cheitian Chicole is not the edge.
No edge about. Full on in there.
It sounds like your mom wanted your middle name to be Nicole, but when they asked, your mom sneezed as she was saying it, and that’s what they wrote down.
Like Shaytan, the devil?
If you're in an English speaking country and your parents wanted it to be pronounced a certain way I see leigna making sense. (/leɪnə/) For those unfamiliar with the name they might think it's Lee-nah (/Li:nə/) (you can use 'ipa-reader DOT xyz' for the sounds)
If I was introduced to you & then saw your name written out I would be confused ngl.
The mom wants to make herself feel special.
Your name and the sub title have "eigh" in it I think it would be a giveaway at that point
Lmfao didn’t think of that lol
Nope, your middle name is No-cole.
I don’t know how to tell you this but…your name is bad
I think the name is really pretty until you have to do a double-take when you see how horribly it’s spelled.
Yes I agree. When pronounced it’s a perfectly nice name.
Of O swotch all the "i"s and "o"s on a sentence, dies ot stoll make sense?
Ot konda dies, but anniyong as fuck.
Annyong.
Annyong? Hello!
If I heard it aloud, I would think it was pretty. But seeing it spelled like this…definitely a tragedeigh.
Holy fuck .. why
My mom wanted to be unique for my first name and middle name she simply thought that’s how you spelled it 💀
It's one thing to intentionally change the spelling, but I'm constantly surprised by parents who just guess at spelling something so important and permanent as their kid's name.
For real wtf. Look it up for your kid one time.
My grandpa’s mom misspelled his last name on his birth certificate but she was a dirt poor sharecropper and the last name had two traditional spellings, she (or the clerk or someone) just picked the wrong one
She guesses the spelling on something as defining as your name?!? Nicole is so common. She could have asked anyone for a spell check!?!
Hmm Leroy/Lah-roy could be an Americanization of Le Roi (French).
Yes and yes.
Have you ever met a guy named Nocolas?
💀💀😂😂😂😂
Saint Nocolas? The guy trying to reduce soda consumption?
It’s bad for your teighth.
Oh Darling. I hope you pick your favorite way of spelling the way you like having your name pronounced because, yes... those are tragick.
How is anyone supposed to figure that out. I’m sorry. Yes, tragedeigh x2
They never have or do lol
I was born in 86. I watched all my friends and school mates get married and have kids (they’d announce on Facebook) most of the names I was like 😬 And I would think “I bet the kid is gonna hate that when they get older”. I was born in 84 lolol!! That’s the killer part!!
Are... Are you the first one? Tragedeigh Origins?
Patient Zereaux.
Zeighro
Peighshent Zeighreaux
The main tragedy is how your parents had strokes while spelling your name...
Bro. I get so upset when people add an ‘h’ to Nicole. What has your mom done!?
She truly thought that’s how Nicole was spelled and until like 5th grade I thought it was spelled Nicole and spelled it wrong until I was old enough to see my birth certificate lol
It is hilarious that as a primary schooler you were spelling it correctly, and as an adult she didn’t! Even though the spelling is Tragic, the name is very pretty!
Wait, where would the "h" go??
I thought your middle name has a typo you didn't fix
I wish lolol
Yes. But it could be worse. Leighna Neighcole.

Yes, I'm sorry, but your first and middle names are both textbook tragedeighs. I know in the Ten Commandments it says to honor your mother and father, but in an extreme case like this, that doesn't apply. You should slap them, call them jackasses, and make them pay for your name change.
I’m 40 and have lived with it all my life lol! No one can pronounce it or spell it!! Its so annoying

Please tell me what your old name was lol! I’m so happy you are happy now
I'll message you with it.
The best you can hope for at this point is to move a space, and be Leigh Nano Cole.
😂😂
very Possobly so.
Absolutleigh.
You’re the poster child for this sub!
I really should be considering I am 40 and had this name longer then tragedeigh lol
Condolences.
Ko’Ndoughlensos
My brain broke.
It took me a while to come up with it and I’m not even sure it works But after Onesty and the other crazy one that I forgot but it’s somewhere in this sub, I thought there surely is a pre-stripper named Condolence in Texas or some similarly shittily naming place
What is a pre-stripper? Man, so many things i do not know!
It seems to be the common opinion in this sub (and I can’t disagree) that naming your daughter something like Chastity means sealing their fate as a stripper in the future. In mind that’s a “pre-stripper” name 😂
Leighna Nocole Tragedeigh. Sorry!
Omg first name is bad but nocole is insane. You should constantly harrass your parents over that
People who read it says NO-COLE lolol!
yeah, hate to say it but they did you wrong. the weird spelling plus the sounds... lee na na na na na na na no cole. probbly one of the worst middle names to go with your first name. it's pretty easy to change your name. Lena Nicole is a lot less messy.
I never thought about all of the Na’s lol
I don’t know where you’re from, but if you’re British, [this website](https://www.gov.uk/change-name-deed-poll) can help.
Alabama lol
Best of luck to you.
Things are adding up
Fun fact, one of the main reasons Ireland didn't have an industrial revolution like other European countries is the fact that it also had no coal.
The very textbook definition of a tragedeigh!
Two tragedeighs for the price of one.
Yes
Nocole is crazy
Oh geez 😞
You’ve got a double barreled tragedeigh on your hands. One of them at least is spelled the way it is pronounced; the other, well, I’m so sorry.
What’s funny about Nocole is that every other vowel including Y would have been a better option and closer to the pronunciation of Nicole. Necole Nacole Nycole Nucole Nocole is actually the worst variation. Congrats!
Certainly
*Sirtenleigh
It’s not a tragediegh. It’s worse. It’s an ATROCITIEGH.
I'm already judging you by your shitty name
Lmfao! What did you come up with lol
That you come from a family who makes bad impulse decisions and who also don’t like asking others for help 😊 Seriously though, I hope your family is doing good!
Yup
Yeghs (yes). The base names are fine though.
Yes to both. Lena Nicole is very cute tho.
Yep awful tragedeigh.
My condolences; your first and middle names are, indeed, tragedeighs.
I am surprisingly terrified by the name Nocole.
Nocole? I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that that is said to rhyme with Broccoli...
Your name sounds like a Viking trying to say “I have a head cold” but you can’t make him out because of his accent and the fact that he’s eating a whole chicken and his mouth is full
Yes. I’m sorry, girl.
As a Nicole, I physically cringed at “Nocole”…I’m sorry 😂
Leigh/nah no-coal. Definitely not Lena Nicole imo. 🫣 Tragedy for sure.
Your middle name is not Nicole lol, it is "no coal". Lol
WHY Nocole?? Did your parents have a stroke filing your birth certificate? Or did the nurse’s a look more like an o and nobody thought to verify?
Yescole, it is.
If it's pronounced Lay-na No-cole, you're fine
Nocole as opposed to yescole
We have terrible news Leighna Nocole…
Why they did that to you? 🤦
Ngl, I really like Leighna, it looks like a name from a fantasy books Nocole is terrible tho
I’m just seeing Layna lol
I’ve been called layna my whole life or Leeann or legna and NO-COLE
