Hi there -- If you're looking for information about reading the Transformers comics, this FAQ page might be of help: [https://reddit.com/r/transformers/wiki/faq/comics](/r/transformers/wiki/faq/comics)
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/transformers) if you have any questions or concerns.*
I love the skybound version but DEFINITIVE Optimus?? That’s such recency bias he hasn’t even existed for a year! Should’ve been G1 (original comics or cartoon), that’s what everyone thinks of as Optimus. This doesn’t give me a lot of hope for the rest of these polls
To be fair, Skybound Optimus is a well-balanced combination of everyone's favourite Optimus traits across incarnations: G1's kindness, heart and inspiration PLUS Bayverse's larger-than-life epicness, general badassery and raw power, which are quite synonymous with the modern image of Optimus Prime, beyond his "strong enough to be kind" schmick, imo.
Because calling Bayverse Prime the definitive Optimus Prime would be ridiculous. Skybound is perfect because it builds and balances elements of the character we've been given over the years.
Meanwhile, Bayverse Prime brings a much more violent, blood-thirsty Prime to the table. Not to call it a terrible iteration of the character, but it's certainly not "definitive"
I think it might be the Bumblebee movie
Takes all the new features introduced and popularized by the Bayverse (and we can't understate the impact that version of the character has had) while also blending in some classic G1 elements that balance out the character and make him more than just another Autobot soldier
I really wish they didn't mute his voice for like 80% of the movie again. Dylan O Brian voicing Bee was perfect, why must they take away such perfection? :(
I totally agree. I think it’s my biggest issue with prime- LET BEE SPEAK!
That said, my immediate reaction- though I’ve changed my mind since, it’s got some real potential- to the TFONE trailer was “I hope they show Megatron destroying bee’s vocal cords”.
I really liked IDW Bee for a good while, but he became very tedious in the Robots in Disguise arc on Cybertron. He just couldn’t catch a break and it forced him into being this dour failure. It also never made sense that he needed a cane when other bots have had their entire bodies replaced.
Ah did they? That’s fair enough then. I think it stuck in my mind as annoying as it’s just another layer to making the poor little dude miserable.
They really needed to counter all the gloom by giving him some more wins instead of making all his efforts fail.
Bayverse or bumblebee movie, reasoning is that bayverse was so impactful that it recaracterized him in basically every incarnation after, bumblebee cause it’s like bayverse but more refined
Love him or hate him, Bayverse BB is what most people think of when thinking of Bumblebee. Even if you have a different idea for what the character is, Bayverse BB probably had a major influence on it, save for G1.
Heck, even in Animated he's probably only present because of his movie popularity. He would have been Hot Shot, actually Hot Shot would probably have taken Bee's job completely if it wasn't for Bayverse reviving him. Hasbro had lost Bumblebee trademark after G1, and he had no appearances until 2007 movie.
Bayverse. It made the battle mask, door wings, and radio voice all iconic and recognizable character traits for Bee. Plus BBM/RotB Bee has an almost identical face.
Bayverse definitely set the standard for his design. I enjoy chubby little G1 Bee but I like the sleek bot mode with door wings and the muscle car alt more.
I do feel like they kinda forgot to give him a personality though. He’s just the loyal Autobot who does ninja kicks.
To be fair, that’s because Bumblebee was set in he Bayverse for a pretty solid amount of its development. Though I agree that he’s definitely the character most influenced by the Bayverse.
If it’s possible to vote for the first 10 minutes of the Bumblebee movie where he can talk… haha! Probably BBM but I wish he was able to talk the whole movie
G1 Bumblebee. I'm not his biggest fan, but I feel like every newer incarnation of him is missing fundamental parts of his character. Like, he's not supposed to be a hardened tough guy, he's just a cheerful likeable guy doing his best. I think Perspectiveend put it best
Bumblebee movie. Kind, a bit goofy, protective, still able to fight well, took stuff popular from earlier incarnations and mixed it with everything cool from bayverse
Honestly, for me I feel it’s a tie between G1 and Animated, both are just great takes on the character. Plus, I’m frankly tired of the speechless Bumblebee we’ve had for so long.
Honestly? Cyberverse. He's like the perfect homogenized fusion of all the most well known bumblebee character and design traits from across the franchise and one of the best entrypoints to the franchise for new fans.
I feel like Bayverse/BBM/ROTB Bee are close enough in design that they should all be one category, but in the event they aren't, my vote order is BBM > ROTB > Bayverse.
It's no secret Bayverse Bee defined the character in media to come. TFP was about as close as it got in TV series form after that. RID2015, Cyberverse, and EarthSpark switched closer to his more classic head/face design, whilst keeping the muscle car alt form and door wings in bot mode. His more classic design made appearances in places, but mostly because G1-style was the aethetic of the entire cast, like the Netflix WFC trilogy, IDW, Skybound, etc. Only other one that stands out is the WFC/FoC games, where his Cybertron form is more clearly inspired by his classic G1 design, while the rest of the cast doesn't necessarily have a blueprint they are following.
I'm gonna go with Cyberverse, he has the perfect mix of G1 and Bayverse (given the Evergreen design) and plus we get to him be both mute and have an actual voice
"Bumblebee" Bumblebee is a great solidification of the Bay design and makes for a wonderful live action earth mode.
That said, the WFC game version is a beautiful Cybertronian version. He's just so squarty and round.
Bayverse. All incarnations of Bumblebee after the Bayverse Bee took attributes from that design wether that be door wings, no voice, or muscle cars. Plus his design is just god tier
WFC. He had that eager little brother energy he was known for in G1 tuned to fit a more brutal setting. He had that youthful exuberance that was really refreshing bouncing off Optimus and Ratchet.
Personally, Animated had the best Bumblebee. As it was the last time Bumblebee was written as Bumblebee and not as Hot Shot/Hot Rod like in current media.
Prime Bee gets my vote. He's a nice middle ground between scrappy fighter and cute human companion. I honestly don't like the new Movie Bee that much, it feels like they're trying too hard to make him marketable.
To be fair, I'd say Skybound does seem to be a healthy balance of G1 and Bayverse's best without sacrificing the other-? 910 votes is a *whopping* majority!
Personally I say prime, it was accurate to his fun and bright personality but also his seriousness and passion when it came to his identity, his friends and his combat. He also had some really good episodes about his transformation being such a large part of him and the scene of him killing megs + regaining his voice was top tier
I’m voting for the Bee from the High Moon duology because he’s one of the few bees I liked.
But shout out to Bay Bee for his sheer influence(that I sometimes hate)
I hate to say it but Bayverse. My daughter was weirded out seeing B talk in the TF:One trailer. That's when I realized it's Bayverse Bee, unfortunately.
I WAS going to say TFP. But I think a lot of comments are right.
Bumblebee movie. His character has changed a lot over the years. And I think that's the best mix of them all
Honestly? Cyberverse. Was mute for a time before being able to speak. Overall a cheery guy you wanna protect too, but still competent on his own.
Not too G1, not too bayverse
If you were to ask Instagram which version is definitive, pretty much all of these would be Prime or WFC/FOC lol. I’m not gonna vote for now but I look forward to seeing how these posts turn out.
My Definitive Bumblebee is the one from Earthspark. He's just the perfect version of the character as far as I'm concerned, from the design to the voice to the personality. Alt-mode's pretty good too.
Generally I prefer my Bumblebee in one of two ways: a sweet cinnamon roll or a trash talking little shit. For the first one, that would probably be Cyberverse, Prime, or G1 while for the 2nd that'd be Animated or Bay.
Overall, I'd say Cyberverse or Animated are my definitive Bees.
As much as I hate to admit it I would say Bayverse Bee.
The public (non transformers fans) seem to think of this bumblebee when bee is mentioned.
People always go "hey thats bumblebee!" When they see a yellow camero and I dont think any transformer other than Optimus Primes truck has ever achived this popularity and recognition from the non transformer fans (normal people)
Between Bumblebee movie and Earthspark for me. I especially like the way Bumblebee is portrayed as a teacher in Earthspark.
I think overall I’m going to give it to Bumblebee movie Bee in the end though

Yeah it is WAY too soon to assert anything about skybound. It is going well but theres only 7 issues... Thats almost nothing
whoever voted bayverse should be... given a special reward
That’s rude. Imagine how pissed the Geewuners would be if it was the other way around.
With a nice helmet to wear around the house
I think it might be the Bumblebee movie Takes all the new features introduced and popularized by the Bayverse (and we can't understate the impact that version of the character has had) while also blending in some classic G1 elements that balance out the character and make him more than just another Autobot soldier

Grown ass Autobot must be a puppy child at all cost!
I felt that way about Johnny Yong Bosch in WFC only for him to lose his voice inFOC.
I’d say this or Animated. Much as I love G1, bumblebee’s one of the few characters that’s really evolved in a good way from it.
I love that movie! My only gripe is following the B can't talk trope. Give the bot a voice!!
I totally agree. I think it’s my biggest issue with prime- LET BEE SPEAK! That said, my immediate reaction- though I’ve changed my mind since, it’s got some real potential- to the TFONE trailer was “I hope they show Megatron destroying bee’s vocal cords”.
Can I say Bumblebee (movie)? Though really, it's IDW for me.
I really liked IDW Bee for a good while, but he became very tedious in the Robots in Disguise arc on Cybertron. He just couldn’t catch a break and it forced him into being this dour failure. It also never made sense that he needed a cane when other bots have had their entire bodies replaced.
I mean they did say it was psychosomatic.
Ah did they? That’s fair enough then. I think it stuck in my mind as annoying as it’s just another layer to making the poor little dude miserable. They really needed to counter all the gloom by giving him some more wins instead of making all his efforts fail.
Prime or animated
Animated
Animatd bee
Bayverse or bumblebee movie, reasoning is that bayverse was so impactful that it recaracterized him in basically every incarnation after, bumblebee cause it’s like bayverse but more refined
For how much I like other incarnations of Bee I have to agree here. It’s made such an impact that it is impossible to overlook.
Love him or hate him, Bayverse BB is what most people think of when thinking of Bumblebee. Even if you have a different idea for what the character is, Bayverse BB probably had a major influence on it, save for G1.

Hasbro had lost Bumblebee trademark after G1, and he had no appearances until 2007 movie.
I have to agree, even if I mostly despise the impact Bay Bee had on the rest
Tbh I just dislike his voice box, I love American muscle so I’m biased lol
To me it’s Animated Bumblebee
Knightverse
Transformer Animated. I always loved that is biggest weapon wasn’t his speed or stingers but his obnoxious attitude.
How do you make this comment get more upvotes?
Knightverse Bee
Animated and Prime
Knightverse bee
Animated or Earthspark take the cake for me
Animated
Idw Bumblebee, they did the heart very well.
He definitely had the rebellious teen angst to him too

To be fair, that’s because Bumblebee was set in he Bayverse for a pretty solid amount of its development. Though I agree that he’s definitely the character most influenced by the Bayverse.
Knightverse, Animated or Earthspark
I’m struggling but I wanna say either Cyberverse, animated or Bumblebee movie I’m leaning towards Bumblebee Movie
IDW Bumblebee. His growth arc to a simple follower to a great leader was overall done with heart.
Either EarthSpark or animated they're both good
Bumblebee movie Bee
Animated Bee ftw
WFC Bumblebee
This is a tough one. Most Bees are going for totally different things.
G1
This is far too low...
Ngl animated bee for me
I’m going Animated, that’s my childhood boy right there
Skybound
Cliffjumper has a Reddit account?
https://preview.redd.it/9hczoudiwfwc1.png?width=452&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4afea55f72578925dc375f285d0daa87830b77c Peak
I'd say animated because he's a mix of his g1 counterpart being small and able to sneak by enemies and his prime counterpart with his agility
Either Animated or WFC/FOC
If it’s possible to vote for the first 10 minutes of the Bumblebee movie where he can talk… haha! Probably BBM but I wish he was able to talk the whole movie
Animated for sure takes my top spot
G1 Bumblebee. I'm not his biggest fan, but I feel like every newer incarnation of him is missing fundamental parts of his character. Like, he's not supposed to be a hardened tough guy, he's just a cheerful likeable guy doing his best. I think Perspectiveend put it best
Animated cause I like funny little yellow robot
BBM.
TFP Bumblebee
Knightverse bee. Closed second is animated bee
Prime
Definitely Knightverse.
Knightverse has already won, But anyway, the War For Cybertron Game version.
I love how with tfp they tried to combine bay bee and classic bee
Knightverse Bumblebee for me
G1 is my vote.
G1 easily. Dats muh boi right there!
I think Earthspark
Bumblebee movie Made him more of a character than just a mute guy while also sticking to what he’s most known for now
Transformers Prime
Bumblebee movie. Kind, a bit goofy, protective, still able to fight well, took stuff popular from earlier incarnations and mixed it with everything cool from bayverse
For me it’s Bayverse Bumblebee. I don’t know why but when I think of Bumblebee, it’s that version.
Earthspark
I’m not an Earthspark fan, but I have to give them serious points for letting Bee talk.
I knew I wasn't the only one who liked that version the best.
bumblebee movie
Bayverse Bumblebee
Bumblebee movie
G1/War For Cybertron
Bumblebee 💯🫡
Knightverse for me.
Bumblebee movie Bee. He’s a good mesh of bayverse bee and g1 bee, design and personality wise.
2018 movie bumblebee
Bayverse
Knightverse Bee, it's a perfect blend of cute lovable character and expert scout in one version
Bayverse bee
BBM Bee, easily
Either TFA or WFC/FOC
Bayverse, as a kid in the 2000s that got introduced to transformers through the movies, that’s my definitive form. Especially the old 77 Camaro.
Prime bumblebee
Prime bumblebee for sure,I would usually say bee movie bumblebee but I think the prime bee looks a lot better
Skybound might have this round as well
Gotta be animated for me
Bumblebee movie
Prime and the Bumblebee movie are great incarnations... however I really wish they could have their normal voices.
Honestly, for me I feel it’s a tie between G1 and Animated, both are just great takes on the character. Plus, I’m frankly tired of the speechless Bumblebee we’ve had for so long.
Honestly? Cyberverse. He's like the perfect homogenized fusion of all the most well known bumblebee character and design traits from across the franchise and one of the best entrypoints to the franchise for new fans.
idw or animated
Movieverse bee if you think otherwise your coping
G1 it’s perfect incarnation of our favorite yellow Volkswagen Beetle the orignal too most are too kid friendly or has something else off about them
I feel like Bayverse/BBM/ROTB Bee are close enough in design that they should all be one category, but in the event they aren't, my vote order is BBM > ROTB > Bayverse. It's no secret Bayverse Bee defined the character in media to come. TFP was about as close as it got in TV series form after that. Animated, he’s a young bot with some attitude but a lot of bravery. And he can talk!
Earthspark
G1 obviously
Animated Bumblebee
I'll go animated, 2007 movie and Bumblebee movie one came close, but gonna stick with animated.
We should do a transformers alignment chart
Transformers prime bumblebee movie earth spark I love the bumblebee movie so much
Gotta say Animated
Animated
Animated
Can we all collectively vote the roft version of Jetfire just for shits and giggles please
Bayverse. All incarnations of Bumblebee after the Bayverse Bee took attributes from that design wether that be door wings, no voice, or muscle cars. Plus his design is just god tier
I’m saying animated personally
Animated.
It's Animated for me and it's honestly not even close
Where does the bumblebee below eartshpark and beside rid come from?
Animated Bumblebee.
I like the representation of the character in transformers animated , g1 , and wfc/foc those are the definitive imo
Bumblebee movie Bee
Either the War for Cybertron trilogy, or Prime
Animated by far.
Bumblebee from the bumblebee movie. It’s a great mix of g1 and bayverse!
Marvel, but mainly for while he was Goldbug so that may not count.
G1
WFC. He had that eager little brother energy he was known for in G1 tuned to fit a more brutal setting. He had that youthful exuberance that was really refreshing bouncing off Optimus and Ratchet.
TFP Bee is what I grew up with so it's what I'll stick by.
Prime
TFP for me
Personally, Animated had the best Bumblebee.
Rebooted live action universe or Earthspark
Prob bayverse
Skybound is definitive optimus? I’d have thought it would me more to the tune of G1 or Bayverse
To be fair, I'd say Skybound does seem to be a healthy balance of G1 and Bayverse's best without sacrificing the other-? 910 votes is a *whopping* majority!
Bayverse
Bayverse Bumblebee.
Bayverse. He’s the reason why kids say “bumblebee!!” When ever they see a yellow car that may or not even look like a Camaro
Hard call but honestly prime. Can see the argument for animated or bay tho
https://preview.redd.it/6p991r7qf2wc1.jpeg?width=1296&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4027d80ffbed73bbc85b731279340cacef43c93b
I would say IDW
IDW Bumblebee was such a tragic character.
Prime or Bayverse.
Bayverse
Hotshot
Personally I say prime, it was accurate to his fun and bright personality but also his seriousness and passion when it came to his identity, his friends and his combat. He also had some really good episodes about his transformation being such a large part of him and the scene of him killing megs + regaining his voice was top tier
BB movie
I’m voting for the Bee from the High Moon duology because he’s one of the few bees I liked. But shout out to Bay Bee for his sheer influence(that I sometimes hate)
Bumblebee movie
IDW
Gonna have to go with Bumblebee Movie Bee as well.
IDW
For me, it's either Prime or WfC.
Bumblebee Movie
Prime and Bayverse
Prime or Bayverse
Bayverse it started his hype
It has to be the bumblebee movie for me
I like them all but bayverse is my favorite, especially age of extinction bee I just love most.
Prime has some of the best designs
Cyberverse
Prolly just childhood bias but Bayverse ez
a hard choice but I'd have to say... Cyberverse.
And I think that's the best mix of them all
I think Idw is the best for me as it showed the innocence of the character while also having him progress into a leader like character
Honestly? Cyberverse. Was mute for a time before being able to speak. Overall a cheery guy you wanna protect too, but still competent on his own. Not too G1, not too bayverse
Bayverse honestly
Rise of the Beasts fight me
If you were to ask Instagram which version is definitive, pretty much all of these would be Prime or WFC/FOC lol. I’m not gonna vote for now but I look forward to seeing how these posts turn out.
I'm tied between bayverse, animated, and WfC/FoC
Bumblebee 2018 movie
Bayverse bee.
I think it depends on which century you were born in.
My Definitive Bumblebee is the one from Earthspark. He's just the perfect version of the character as far as I'm concerned, from the design to the voice to the personality. Alt-mode's pretty good too.
Knightverse bee
Generally I prefer my Bumblebee in one of two ways: a sweet cinnamon roll or a trash talking little shit. For the first one, that would probably be Cyberverse, Prime, or G1 while for the 2nd that'd be Animated or Bay. Overall, I'd say Cyberverse or Animated are my definitive Bees.
g1
Bumblebee (movie)
I think G1 is the vest to be honest, the closest for me would be animated.
FOC Bumblebee, is the G1 with more edge
As much as I hate to admit it I would say Bayverse Bee. The public (non transformers fans) seem to think of this bumblebee when bee is mentioned. People always go "hey thats bumblebee!" When they see a yellow camero and I dont think any transformer other than Optimus Primes truck has ever achived this popularity and recognition from the non transformer fans (normal people)
It’s gotta be his own movie version
Bbm/rotb just because they fixed his horrifying face from the bayverse films, that shit looked more scarier than any of the villains.
Between Bumblebee movie and Earthspark for me. I especially like the way Bumblebee is portrayed as a teacher in Earthspark. I think overall I’m going to give it to Bumblebee movie Bee in the end though
Honestly, the movies kinda get this character, especially the Bumblebee movie. The movies have such an impact on this guys entire legacy it’s crazy.
