I was a projectionist like 10 years ago and the projectors have HDMI on them so you can hook up consoles and shiz. But the legit new movies came on hard drives. They were locked with a special base64 type code that the movie distributors would give you the night before release to unlock and test before opening day
One of my buddies worked at our local theater and his grandparents owned it. We stayed late one night playing Rock Band on one of those big ass screens and it was incredible
You can hire the place out and rock whatever you want on the screen!
I'm going to do it for my next birthday, going to rock out some multiplayer games with the family and friends !

That's exactly what this is. My family owns a small single screen theater and people can rent it out and bring their own movie on Blu Ray or DVD, or just plug their laptop into the projector. Sometimes people even play video games on the big screen for a few hours.

We upgraded our living room setup a few years ago and the PS3 went to the bedroom, where it’s still going strong as a media device. Hulu support for it ceased recently, but for Netflix, Prime and physical media it’s still great.
I've recently dealt with a lot of Sony home theater equipment. They have decided to use the PSOS as the OS for all of their electronics. Not saying that this isn't a little sus, just saying that it wouldn't surprise me if they also are using that same OS for their higher end projectors.
I almost got into a fight with someone that couldn't keep their mouth shut and being disrespectful, last time I went to the movies theater. Got free tickets for the inconvenience, that was back in 2020. I'm not planning to use the tickets nor planning to visit anytime soon.
I have as well this was back in high-school I didn't have a lot of money then I had gone to businesses slutting myself out to do their landscaping with my grandpa's tools to pay for prom tickets and get date money and during the movie this group of dudes behind us wouldn't stop fucking around and making jokes I just got so fucking pissed I got up and yelled at them to shut the fuck up hahaha I'm the least confrontational person you could imagine I think everything just added up in that moment and I snapped I'm glad they shut up after that cause I hate fighting I wouldn't have wanted to do that. Anyways I have gone to the movies a million times since then don't let others ruin your experience it happens a few times but most of the time it doesn't and the movies are still a great time!
I got a group of 10 kids kicked out of the last Harry Potter movie within the first few minutes coz they wouldn't shut the fuck up.
I was only a kid myself and I felt so gangster sitting back down with my grandma after complaining.

I used to travel for work and they always put us up in the ghetto. Drunken fist fights in the motel. Fent zombies doing the stroll outside the hotel. Regular gun fire every night.
Just eat, sleep, shower and leave if you’re in the ghetto.
In Portland, Or, last year, I went to a showing of The Big Lebowski at the nearly 100-year-old Aladdin Theater. People dressed up and everything. Lots of Dudes, a few Walters, maybe just one person with balls enough to dress up as a pederast. No Donnies....eh.
What was the first thing on the screen? Somebody fumbling around with VLC Media Player. Also, there was an open bar, but they didn't plan ahead to serve White Russians.

This isn't trashy: this is a rented out theater for some event and people are having fun. Normal quiet rules don't apply on a private event (unless the event host says so) and saying this is what happens when you go to "hood" theaters just enforces negative racial stereotypes. Do better.
You can, most movie theaters will rent screens for private events. They have different AV hookups so you can screen whatever you'd like (within reason, I suspect), including video game consoles.
Most theaters have an inquiry page on their website to request rental rates. If for whatever reason they don't, give them a call and get a quote.

When I was in college, I played fortnite with some guys that hooked up their ps4 to one of the projectors in a big auditorium on campus. Was fun.
