The thing is, when you stay smaller & humble yourself, people have very little to analyze. But when you force yourself down the throat of everyone, make your life (and love life) a spectacle, and release coordinated passive-aggressive attacks on others in the industry, you will draw more ire than if you just stopped trying to make yourself the center of attention.

LonelyForever4316

This is why I think Olivia Rodrigo has longevity. During her first record she was EVERYWHERE! Met Gala, award shows, and magazines. I think she learned that wasn’t the kind of life she wanted and during her Guts tour, she’s remained down to earth and humble, avoiding any big events, except the Grammy’s. I feel like if Sabrina doesn’t pull it back a bit after her album drops, she might be overexposed and people will get annoyed. Especially if she keeps up the infantilizing act as she ages.

PossibilityOrganic12

I'm already annoyed with Sabrina

LonelyForever4316

Hard agree. I’m also annoyed with her tactics of having Espresso or Please Please Please automatically play after every song after an album that isn’t even the same sound! Ugh.

CountryPrevious4776

Well Sabrina has been trying for years to become famous and overall she hasn’t got her big break yet, until now so she’s trying to milk it for all she can. If you just act like you’re super famous people will believe it tbh

Medium-Reserve3793

I 'unSwifted' for this very reason. I perceived her as humble from the beginning of her career. She did an incredible job painting herself as an underdog. I bought that lie hook, line & sinker. I'm glad she "had to make" TTPD bc she was so honest & her lyrics revealed an absolute lack of humility & a very petty, mean-girl ability to go low. I spent 17 years as a loyal fan but her privilege & hypocrisy are now undeniable.

MidnightRain_ts-1989

These celeb don't understand that whatever goes up have to come down eventually it's happening for her i guess she can't just stay at top forever with popularity and fan following u have to give that type of content too and no by that I don't mean a gazillion cds and records to steal of off ur fans. That's pricely what she has been doing.

MidnightRain_ts-1989

Also she needed to realese that type of music to have an audience and to stay on top but she was busy trying to block up and coming artists

Louisvanderwright

I sold the legendary Congress Theater in Chicago for the last, admittedly somewhat deranged, owner. Despite his eccentricities, he obviously had a lot of insight on the music industry. One saying of his that comes back to me here is this: >Booking a venue is simple: you get them on the way up, then you get them on the way down. If you give them the platform when they are rising to stardom, they will stick with you even when they are outgrowing your venue and then they will come back to you after their star is fading and play your venue on the way down. Taylor might be headed for the backend of that statement.

Birdlord420

Has she ever really played all that many mid level venues though? I feel like she was pushed to arenas fairly quickly.

Fine-Dot6903

She’s going J. Lo on us

LynchianCraze85

I think there is a difference between the media feed and the exposure someone has and the actual social impact and public love they can achieve. She has all the coverage possible but you can't make the general public like you just because.

ice_cream4ice_cream

Taylor is very mediocre in a lot the only thing she really has is she writes her music but that's not saying much since a lot of her songs revolve around who she is dating, who she is currently beefing with and being a victim. Not very relatable (her brand) if you ask me.

optionsandheels

She’s going into overdrive with Travis bc it’s her only source of good publicity and that’s honestly all his doing and not her. She gets booed at his games. He’s adored by her fans (when he’s doing his job properly). The fact that Us flopped is telling. The hype for her is at her shows and online but nowhere else

dragonflyb

But this is a double edge sword. The general public was tired of the two of them being shoved down our collective throats during football season.

Origai

she will play the reputation card

Origai

, most likely filming a fake documentary as we speak

Queen-of-Mice

It will all be covered in her upcoming musical I’m sure

muvamerry

Yep. She’s finally getting cornered.

C10ckw0rks

We had to quit our drinking game during the super bowl because we would have died

eiileenie

My friend was the taylor swift camera that game it was wild when I found out

SoFetchBetch

Wow that’s wild! Do you mean they were the camera person in charge of filming TS?

C10ckw0rks

Please tell your friend that a lot of us had a hilarious time because of them

Bookr09

yo i did a challenge of 20 push ups each time she was featured. I think i did somewhere near 300 over the course of the night and my arms were DEAD by the end of the game

Various_Network_7548

Us sounds likes it’s trying too hard to be deep, when in reality it’s just a bunch of thesaurus words strung together

TrieshaMandrell

Really Im starting to wonder when this Eras tour is going to end? It's been over a year now, and I've never seen a tour be covered so heavily (the beginning and the end, MAYBE if a special moment happens, but not the whole damn thing, day by day)

Used-Cup-6055

I think TTPD lost her a lot of fans, but most of those people are too scared to outwardly criticize her. I think a lot of people are just silently turning away from her but it’s enough that it’s noticeable

rewdea

This. I have two friends that are more than casual Swifties (not diehards) and I still don’t want to broach the subject of anything we all talk about here. But they haven’t been bringing her up either.

kat_ingabogovinanana

It’s really telling that she’s become a third rail in conversations among friends. It’s like talking politics atp. I never bring her up unless I know I’m around non-fans.

Used-Cup-6055

I have three friends who I would consider Swifties and one is a diehard who I think would stop speaking to me if she knew I was active on this sub lol. One doesn’t talk about her very often and the other one is like me and thinks TTPD was trash and is rethinking everything about her.

pepinonation

I am 100% positive that my best friend would stop speaking to me if she knew I was on here. I have to use an alt because she knows my main. We are nearly forty years old.

Candid-Plan-8961

That’s so wild I am sorry this is how it is. I have friends who deeply love things that I flat out hate and we can laugh about it. I don’t talk down to them about the thing but I will be like, sorry can’t stand it but have fun.

MeineEierSchmerzen

Thats kind of sad if you mean this unironically.

UrBustedGrlFrmKY

😳

Origai

welcome to the dark side 🤣👀

sweetpotato_latte

I didnt even know one of my friends was a fan and I brought this page up when we were talking about Drake and she got defensive to the point that I straight up was like, “well if our friendship falters because of this I’ll just hate her more lol”

Candid-Plan-8961

Which is so wild, the fact that the mix of the fandom and just the general toxicity around her is so bad friends can’t even talk about this is really messed up to me? Sure fandoms get intense but this just feels like something else entirely. The fear people have of speaking out not just in the general community but to friends shows there has been poison within too much for too long

Cali_kk

I'm tryna sell all my TS merch I bought last Xmas while in my adhd Swiftie hyperfocus lol 😂 I can't bring myself to wear a tshirt or hoodie w her name on it for fear anyone thinks I'm still a fan. I'm an artist and like the rep era font and style, but I wish I could change the name. Ugh 😩

TGHbandandbookfan

"while in my adhd Swiftie hyperfocus lol.'' So relatable. I get you.

Blondeevenus

i still really like my folklore cardigan 😹 i’m glad it’s subtle but i don’t want to be associated with brain rot swifties. at least folklore is one of her better albums. 💀

Used-Cup-6055

I liked her rep era merch too. I have some stuff I have to get rid of as well

itsyaboiReginald

I think Taylor Inc. know that this tour is the peak and they’ll never be pulling in this money again so it will go as long as it can. Any sort of break and all the Swifties will have had their fill and go back to Disneyland.

errorcode1996

I honestly think the moment she takes a break they will find someone new. They were already ready to move on right before the tour started and then it revived her career. Without the tour I think people will go back to looking for someone else. That’s how Olivia got big. People were looking for a Taylor replacement in 2020 after lover imploded and Olivia was right there. Now we have a bunch of new pop girls to take focus and I honestly believe they already have. Sabrina, Chappell, and yes Charli are doing respectable numbers. I have this sneaking feeling that Chappell is Taylor’s true successor. Her music is way better but still pleases the same crowd and MORE. At the very least I think Chappell can get the universal respect Taylor will never have.

No_Temporary2732

As much as i like Espresso, Sabrina's career will come to a standstill after the eras tour. Her music is catchy, but very average compared to Billie, Olivia, Chappell Espresso in any other time would be a meme song. That's how much the eras tour PR machinery helped her

errorcode1996

I do think Sabrina suffers from being too closely connected to Taylor. She’s enjoying Taylor’s success but will she endure her failures as well? If Taylor becomes less popular, will Swifties still stream Sabrina’s music? Or do they like Sabrina enough that the young Swifties will latch on to her more? Only time will tell.

rmeatyou

I love Sabrina's music but it's very much pop nonsense (pun intended lol) and male gaze-y She and Tate McRae will occupy the same space in pop I think

SoFetchBetch

I’ve been a fan of Charli for so long so it warms my heart to see her getting recognition.

CarlPagan666

You nailed it

Origai

TTPD is a shit stain on her discography

True-Raccoon8209

it’s what happens when you’re more worried about controlling a narrative and stickin it to your exes than if your music is any good

Smooth-Operation4018

The exes, btw, who don't think about you at all

OhMyGod_Zilla

The exes, who are far happier without her in their lives.

Origai

more of money too, none of her songs since midnight have some souls in it Her new music are made for charting or just petty drama

demonsympathizer666

They are monotonous and all sound the same.

litlron

I totally believe she had ghostwriters for a few of her albums. There is no way that Evermore and Folklore were written by the same woman who came out with petty, narcissistic, immature garbage like Reputation, Midnights, and TTPD.

folklorebitch

i haven’t listened to her music in months, am i alone in thinking that maroon and you’re on your own kid were genuinely wonderful songs? i think the title of you’re on your own kid is incredibly cringey but the meaning always really did resonate with me

Conscious-Dot-8394

It's also what happens when you're surrounded by yes men who don't have the courage to tell you when you're making a bad move

12lbTurkey

My favorite bit is quote from anonymous friend of Joe’s saying he had heard the album and was “disappointed” Lol. She got the “I’m not angry, I’m disappointed” response from her longest relationship

continent34

she could do that and put some soul in it too, she just chose not to

GrayEidolon

I think the idea that songs are about specific exes is just marketing intended to drive engagement. People listen more than they otherwise would because they’re trying to figure out which song is about which person and which specific event or issue.

Mnewby9201

No, that they ARE about specific people is the marketing. People listen because she's in the news so when a breakup happens they don't have to say "which is which"; the next clearly breakup/relationship single that comes out is about the guy she just broke up with a few weeks/months before. The interest comes from wondering "what is she going to say." Hell, even earlier ones where she actually acknowledged her fault (Back To December springs to mind) have individual references that can be traced to each past fling

GrayEidolon

I’m going beyond that to say, even if a song seems related to a specific of a relationship, that that is just “in universe” and doesn’t represent any sincere feelings or thoughts she has had, nor necessarily any real events that occurred between TS and whoever. Taylor Swift in public is a character who happens to be played by someone also named Taylor Swift. My assertion is that *all of it is pretend*.

DawsonJBailey

I mean isn’t that what she’s always done? lol. The music just used to be better. She needs to realize at this point that no offense she’s too old to be doing this ex shit. She’s not a teenager so her fan base that grew up with her can’t relate unless they’re still stuck in a younger phase of their life like she is. Sadly I think a lot of her fan base is tho

Ecstatic_Sandwich_38

See, this is the thing: I can truly dislike/malign certain musicians as people and admit that a lot of their output is catchy. You can’t deny what your earholes enjoy. 🤷🏻‍♀️ And Taylor had some legit jams back in the day. I still think that Red, 1989, and Lover are albums with good songs. I heard that the Folklore stuff was good, but I tried it and found it boring. Ditto Midnights. I thought that ‘’Antihero’’ was okay but never voluntarily listened it while on a walk or anything. I was like, okay. I’ve heard it. I get what all the stupid I’m the problem, it’s me stuff is about. And I was curious about TTPD, before she became a special edition-releasing monster of insatiable greed and envy and I began to really dislike her*. And I found it basically unlistenable - just insulting in how basic bitch 8th grade journal her lyrics are, and how much of a genius she clearly thinks *she* is, and I cannot take her producers and their unrelenting sameness. The music itself is so dull and shallow, and I know that I sound like An Old (I am), but I’ve noticed that about a lot of pop as of late. It’s like it’s trying to replicate an eighties vibe, almost, but it just lacks all the magic and sheen. I think Chappell Roan (from what I’ve heard), Jessie Ware, and Dua Lipa have nailed it, though. Anyway, some musicians have a signature sound, and it makes the listening experience euphoric. I think of Dire Straits - that’s the first one to come to mind, so I’ll use that as an example. Nothing else really sounds like them. And I imagine Swifties coming for Mark fucking Knopfler, of all people, if he even hints at some critique of her. Just like they did Dave Grohl, lol. Anyway. Taylor has NO signature sound, really. Her attempt at being Joni Mitchell 2.0 is hilarious, and her pop music is vanilla AF. And she ditched country forever ago; she can’t just skip back to them. But I kind of want her to seriously attempt rap, because…come on. You know you’d laugh. We all need that these days. She just always has an essential theme: some dude she loves, might love, or no longer does. Or some woman she hates. *Actually, I began to dislike her at the Grammy’s. Just had to edit and say that. Also, sorry this is so long. I’m stoned and clearly have some thoughts, lol

KellyAnn3106

Definitely can't go back to country. Could you imagine a billionaire artist singing about working 9-5 or struggling to pay the rent?

cherrybombbb

Also she comes from money in Pennsylvania so her “country” persona isn’t even genuine.

littleliongirless

She did cover eminem, twice. I wouldn't call it rapping, but I also don't know what else to call it.

po21y

“Embarrassing” is what I call it

Adorable-Crew-Cut-92

It’s not rapping, it’s her singing. She just talk-sings.

mercut1o

People don't realize Taylor Swift buys her songs. Her first 5 #1s or so were Max Martin purchases. Some were originally offered to Kylie Minogue. Max Martin has written for almost every commercially significant pop act of the last 30 years, and is a figure well worth reading about in his own right, but Liz Rose is credited with many more Swift songs, and she had previously written for Jewel and Kylie Minogue. Here is Liz Rose talking about writing a song with Taylor Swift- “It was last minute; she just called me and said ‘I’ve got this thing and there’s so much and can you just come help me figure it out.’ It was a great day; it was a really great day." So my understanding is- at the least Taylor Swift's sound is heavily shaped by the Kylie Minogue songs that gave her initial success on the mainstream charts, and the people who trained and work with TS, as well as sell songs to her, come to her when she has a song in-progress and help shape it. She pays them for this time, and buys songs from them still. Kylie Minogue is, imo, also a sort of copycat pop act with none of the originality of controversy of a Madonna, she's just competent and attractive and propped up by the music industry. Taylor Swift is their latest product. It genuinely seems to me like her writing process is more akin to a celebrity fashion line or the process of working with a ghostwriter, or having a personal shopper, than any actual writing. All of her collaborators/vendors speak well of working with her...but it's not retrospective, they're on the payroll and that builds the brand and keeps them in work. She buys whole songs and parts of songs from incredibly established vendors. Something that I think has become sinister with this, though, is the potential for TS to abuse what songs are sold to other artists, but that's really tough to track. She's certainly shown a willingness to outmuscle her competitors through economic domination in other things that impact the charts. If she's willing to release a billion limited edition vinyls, why would she be above demanding exclusive rights to first refusal for the major songwriters? I think this has effectively already happened.

erin_bex

I was so excited she did a song with Posty, and then...he's basically not in it? His "feature" adds nothing to the song? He sings with EVERYBODY and always has an amazing verse that adds so much to the song, and she didn't give him a chance to actually do what he does. I listened to it, and the first...five songs on TTPD and was so underwhelmed I turned it off and haven't turned it back on, and that's from someone who was in the top 3% of Spotify Swift listeners last year and listened to Folklore and Evermore on repeat for 6 months straight. It's garbage.

Tricky_Knowledge2983

He really does do well with everybody. Im a casual listener of his and was kinda skeptical when he turned country, but he sounds nice! I was really skeptical when I saw Post Malone was a feature w/Beyonce on her new album but LEVII JEANS is one of my faves

Solid_Panda7877

Definitely. I think it’s her worst album next to her debut. For me that’s when I started REALLY disliking her.

RedStar9117

I think over exposure has finally started to catch up with her

Budget-Classic3076

“Shit stains on his geeetaaaar”  🎵💩👱🏻‍♀️💩🎵 (Edit: emoji placement)

fancyfruitbat

it is actually so embarrassing holy fuck. imagine being a 34 year old woman writing and releasing the line “I might just die it would make no difference” about a man, and ratty healy at that. how has her writing regressed as she’s gotten older? it’s both disappointing and fascinating.

NotoriousMFT

A while ago all the instrumental tracks were posted in succession here, and it sounds like all hold music. Just very bland and uninspired

granolabart

as a fan from 2006 to present day, I strongly agree. I can't even be bothered to try to like it. and I would defend every other album endlessly. I actively hate ttpd lol

TapGlittering9690

Also probably after her break up with Joe and the madness that ensued afterwards.

jiwufja

I think this made a lot of fans and casual listeners..not be a fan anymore (like me). Also just the over saturation since she started releasing taylor’s versions. She has been in the news cooooonstantly since then. With her relationships, her life, her tour, fucking everything. Usually you hear a lot about a celebrity when they start promoting an album. The past couple years, especially the last, she’s been EVERYWHERE. The nonstop positive news gets exhausting as fuck after a while.

z3r0c00l_

I don’t understand the “Taylor’s version” bullshit. My kid likes her, so we hear it every now and then. From what I’ve heard, “Taylor’s version” doesn’t sound any different than the original recording.

SomeRavenAtMyWindow

Based on what I’ve listened to, they definitely don’t sound the same as the original recordings. The “Taylor’s version” albums are, for the most part, not nearly as good as the originals. The 1989 Taylor’s Version sounded like a Temu knockoff, if I’m being honest.

snootfly242

1989 IMO is a terrible redo.

Alert-Significance66

Haunted is the only song I’ll listen to, and I’ll only listen to the original because I absolutely hate “Taylor’s version” its just, not right

FuzzyPresence8531

maybe it’s just me, but a lot of her songs off speak now tv don’t compare to the original, including haunted

Alert-Significance66

Not just you! When I first heard the tv version of haunted I was so offended I went and found a few YouTube videos that did comparisons on basically that whole album and everything really seems stronger on the original.

Apart-Expression-189

AGREED. I used to be a Taylor Swift superfan. I’ve been to 2 of her concerts and will be attending a third. However, even I am starting to get tired of her and ALLL the music she’s producing. There are too many Taylor Swift things to buy. All the CDs and merch look like cash grabs. Ex: she continues to release 4 different deluxe versions of CDs for TTPD. And her merchandise of t-shirts and hoodies are poor quality for their price. It’s like she’s taking advantage of her fans. Plus, she made her million dollar donation to her Eras Tour truck drivers very publicly in the media, probably to uphold her “humble” reputation. When, in reality, a million dollars means nothing to her since she has so much money. I’m still going to have fun at her concert, but I’m done wasting all my money on her stuff.

Arumeria3508

No joke I've been in the grocery store and a World Market the past few days and saw literal books with her on them. If I can't even buy some ramen and wine without seeing her face at the checkout counter we have a serious problem.

Sempereternity

I didn't mind her, I barely thought about her at all before she unleashed her bullshit surrounding Joe, Matt and TTPD variants. Now I think she's a horrible person and love snarking about her constant drama. She really nuked her own image this past year. Cherry on top was learning about the insanity surrounding her and the Kennedy family. Turns out she was awful the whole time and had a great PR team to hide it lol

Brave_Hoppy1460

do you by any chance have links or what to search for regarding the Kennedy drama?

Sempereternity

If you just search "Kennedy" in this sub you'll find it all peace meal between some posts, I don't think any one post captures the full insanity timeline yet. From what I recall: - Finds a photo of Ethel and Robert Kennedy, writes an entire song about their "love". She meets with Ethel around here I think. - Starts hanging around the family after this, gets invited to some things. Ethel likes her and they become close. - She begins to date Patrick Schwarzenegger, a Kennedy cousin and also Arnold's son. For whatever reason, it doesn't work out. - She starts dating 17 year old Conor Kennedy after this. She is 22. - She visits his mother's grave (she unfortunately passed away from suicide relatively recently to this event) and calls the paparazzi to meet them there, because of course she does. - She crashes a Kennedy relative wedding. She's asked to leave 3 times and refuses to leave. The brides mother confirms her being asked to leave repeatedly. - She visits and picks up Conor from HIGHSCHOOL. - At some point, she purchases a multi-million dollar home next to Conor. He freaks out and ends the relationship. She sells the house. I think that's most of it, I'm sure I'm leaving out something somewhere!

Brave_Hoppy1460

![gif](giphy|dB12mOQb99BwDlM83I) Thank you for explaining! That’s so unhinged

AMonsterAsIRot

And to expand on the last point about the house... about 2 months into the relationship, she bought the house next door to his family's. Like [right across the street](https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/08/14/article-2187795-148AEE1C000005DC-253_634x380.jpg). Psycho behavior.

Limp_Tumbleweed2618

she was trying to manipulate a high school student who lost his mother to suicide into marrying her...that's vile

nsaps

The Kennedy’s are old money now, they weren’t letting her in

rightcoast1

Man I had never connected how much she has absorbed you can buy your way into a life. And that explains so much of the tantrum / incel energy of TTPD that her success isn’t being rewarded with a committed partner.

Normal-Basis-291

I feel like she and her parents have always shopped around for the most all American iconic husband. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pushed her to hang around the kennedys.

myswingline_stapler

Oh fuck. It all makes sense now. Kennedys are “American royalty.” She desperately wants to be a princess.

Sad-Lake-3382

I did not realize RFK was connor’s dad. 1 yike please.

Negative-Appeal9892

[https://sg.news.yahoo.com/report-taylor-swift-conor-kennedy-call-quits-190421772.html?guccounter=1](https://sg.news.yahoo.com/report-taylor-swift-conor-kennedy-call-quits-190421772.html?guccounter=1) This talks about their breakup, but note the ages: she was 22, he was 18. But they started dating when he was about 17 and had just lost his mother.

Fun_Accident_2557

If she'd been a guy and he'd been a girl, it would've torpedoed her career. Without a doubt.

wwest1504

https://www.reddit.com/r/travisandtaylor/s/rdU9sRkIF5

Elizabeth__Sparrow

Joe was so good for her. He had a large hand in writing Folklore and evermore, her most mature albums bar none and among her most critically acclaimed as well.  Her being in a stable long term relationship lead people to feeling more positive about her than they did in her early 20s because when she stopped jumping from guy to guy it seemed she had finally matured. A lot of her fans are her age and just don’t relate to the continual cycle of heartbreak anymore. (Her specific brand of it anyway) Plus since she was more private it gave people time to miss her. People hate her now in part because they are just sick of seeing her everywhere.  But since the breakup she seems even less mature than she did as a teenager and she just won’t go away.

PossibilityGrouchy74

Yes this this this. I grew up with Taylor Swift. I played one of her songs at my wedding during the first dance with my husband. I was rooting for her and Joe to settle down and produce more folklore/evermore albums. When she collaborated with Bon Iver, I just about died. But then, tragically or not so tragically, her and Joe break up. I feel incredibly sorry for her. Ugh he seemed like the one, I thought. Then she releases, you're losing me, and I thought oh god what heartbreak. And then... she dates Travis Kelce, and also Matty but I could not be bothered. Once she started dating Travis, I was like, this is not the woman I thought she was. I think Joe Alwyn played a huge part in Taylor's pseudo-maturity. He had been her shield for several years even influencing her most mature music and inspired her on the Lover album. But I think after a while, seeing Taylor not actually growing and evolving, Joe said enough. So maybe, I'm really just a fan of Joe. Because I think when he left, he took all the best parts Taylor tried to claim as her own. They were all Joe. Thanks Joe. We know you tried but sometimes you can't save a broken woman.

SomeRavenAtMyWindow

I think she’s about due for another “disappearance,” like when she vanished for a year before Reputation. My guess is, when she finally breaks up with Travis, she’ll basically fall off the face of the earth again. Maybe not for a whole year, but at least 3-6 months. There will be no pap walks, no public sightings, no updates on her music or her next tour. When she goes into hiding and doesn’t leave any breadcrumbs for her fans to analyze, they’ll be foaming at the mouth. They’ll wonder where she is and what happened to make her disappear. Then, after building up the mystery and suspense for a few months, she’ll signal her return by doing something *incredibly* minor on social media - she’ll drop a “like” somewhere, maybe a new “follow”. Fans will see that she’s active again and sound the alarm. She’ll come back in full force with a new “story to tell”, in which she’s somehow the victim again, and it will only be a matter of time until her next big PR relationship.

3596u3l

I feel like the media and access to the internet has exponentially grown since her first disappearance. It almost felt like people could hide a bit more in 2016/2017 vs today. I'm super curious to see if she will be able actually disappear!

Fast-Purple7951

because TTPD was bad even for her and people were like oh. Gross.

alymars

Her actions over the past year have turned a BIG portion of her fans off. I’ve been a fan since Tim McGraw hit the radio but some of her actions recently have been inexcusable.

Suctorial_Hades

All I know is she better not get a single Grammy for that trash ass album and she certainly doesn’t deserve AOTY. The Grammy’s better keep it cute and actually focus on all the great artists out there. If they give her another participation trophy it will confirm what many already feel about them

_Repooc_

I’ve been disillusioned with the Grammy’s for years on the basis of their treatment of hip-hop/R&B. In terms of AOTY treatment, the Academy’s snubbing of MBDTF in 2012 and 1989 winning over TPAB in 2016 are the most egregious to me.

Sweaty-Car4097

I still can't believe that the Weeknd got zero nominations for After Hours. That album slaps. Five star. No skips. How in the world does that happen?? Good for him for boycotting the Grammys aka Scammys.

Admirable-Gap-9718

If AOTY goes to TTPD and not Cowboy Carter, I will be pissedddd

Icy-Mortgage8742

I like to imagine that TTPD gets several noms and she shows up to the Grammys with fanfare only to lose them all to chappell, sabrina, beyonce, billie and ariana. At the same time, if another artist could benefit from the honor of a nomination instead of wasting the spot on her... that would be more ideal lol. Grammy's are basically all about "gifting" to the voters though and she has the most capital to do so, so she'll for sure get several nominations.

Maleficent_Chard2042

folkmore was good, and she could have rested on the laurels of that for a while. She really should have. Midnights was okay. There were a few good songs. It wasn't at the same level as folkmore and did not deserve the grammy. However, she was still riding the high from folkmore, and it wasn't too bad. TTPD was the strange musical equivalent of a 12 year old vomiting out diary entries. Not good. Not at all. The decline she has been in for the last couple of years is finally catching up to her.

Solid_Panda7877

For sure. I also think folkmore brought in a lot of people who didn’t listen to her or liked her originally because it was getting good reviews. The decline in the quality of her music probably turned off many of her new fans.

Maleficent_Chard2042

I'm guessing it kills her that her most successful albums involved collaboration with Joe. Frankly, I think he had a far greater impact than he was credited for. I'd love to see him do more songwriting.

Solid_Panda7877

Yeah it’s interesting how those two albums had much better songwriting than any of her albums before and after. I agree that Joe was likely more involved in the writing than she would like to admit.

torturedDaisy

I’ve been saying this. That’s why she credited him and he got a Grammy. She didn’t “gift” him the songwriting credits that Swifties claim. Who? Capitalist Barbie? Mastermind business woman? No way! She was remaining within the law and protecting her assets.

Maleficent_Chard2042

It would be so cool if Joe becomes a goat and Taylor doesn't. The perfect revenge.

YouThinkYouKnowStuff

Folkmore also came out during the worst of the lockdowns from Covid. People were locked in their homes and desperate for something different.

drkatzprofeshthrpst

The summer of Sabrina / Charli / Chappell trifecta is also pretty hard to ignore. I like to think it bothers TSwift a lot.

Origai

People want fun campy pop songs which haven't happened in a long while

drkatzprofeshthrpst

Exactly- her trying too hard faux-poetic thing is wearing thin.

Hefty-Rub7669

I don’t know why they thought summer would be a good time for this album roll out. October/December would’ve made much more sense. (Not that it would make it any less terrible lmao). The only reason I could think is that they wanted to capitalize on the Eras’ tour. Rope the most loyal whales (big spenders) into purchasing another ticket for the concert they just went too for the new songs.

littlegirlblue2234

She wants to be Lana del Rey so bad bro, it’s kind of sad. I absolutely hate when people compare Lana lyrics to Taylor swift’s lyrics. One is written by a person who has gone through hella shit and one was written by a wanna be 14 year old at heart who only writes about her exes lol.

TrieshaMandrell

Why would I listen to Taylor Swift for Lana Del Rey when LDR is RIGHT THERE?? Who does Tree think she's kidding?

ashcoverdjollyrnnchr

And she’s not even good at it. Her songs are still pretty one dimensional. TTPD sounds like someone *trying* but failing to be a kate bush or PJ Harvey but she just doesn’t have it in her to write a song about a mother drowning her baby and begging for the water to give her daughter back. Or a fetus scared of the nuclear war happening outside its mothers womb. I’m not saying her songs needed to go that dark but the way people talked about TTPD I was *hoping* it would be more than just break up songs or “woe is me nobody has ever had a harder time in Hollywood than I queen of the charts”

errorcode1996

What’s funny is that Taylor is mostly known for her fun pop songs. With her being at her peak, if she had dropped a pop album full of bangers, it would have been another 1989 in terms of mainstream popularity. She decided to go slow and moody right when people wanted fun pop back and fun pop is literally her whole bag.

Tricky_Knowledge2983

Lol I am here for the 2nd coming of recession pop

erinsaysmeow

Of the 3 I listen to Chappell the most. I do think it’s refreshing that she calls out and denounces lots of things TS writes about. Prime example- situationships and how she really feels about them.

slapstick_nightmare

What’s funny to me is some of Chappells songs sound a bit like Taylor songs, similar beats and intros etc. But it’s like good universe Taylor, where she actually has a great voice, isn’t spoiled, a unique sense of fashion, stands up for causes, and owns a queer narrative instead of using it as a prop. I suspect Taylor is going to really dislike Chappell bc she’s hitting the notes Taylor wants to hit but doing it so much better, and is for now universally adored. I think Chappell is going to become who Taylor wanted to be in the public eye.

eternallynyx03

also adding in that Chappell has been trying to make it as an artist for 10 years and is from a small town in missouri

slapstick_nightmare

Yeeesss. That’s why I said isn’t spoiled lol. Like she was born in a trailer park, her parents did not buy her a record deal

small-feral

A big issue for Taylor is authenticity, which Chappell, even as someone with a stage name/persona, has no problem with what so ever.

slapstick_nightmare

Yes! Did you see the video where she burst into tears on stage, bc all the sudden fame felt really overwhelming? It was very very touching, and I can’t imagine Taylor ever doing something like that. I know she’s cried on stage but it’s in relationship to her songs. It’s hard to explain but being like I’m overwhelmed and kind of scared rn felt like more vulnerability than I’ve seen from most pop singers, not even just Taylor. It’s a moment of potential “weakness” and extreme humanness. Like I think Taylor could hit a similar note if she cried about how her actions hurt someone or wronged someone but I don’t see it coming.

Zorba_thesugarglider

Yes! "My kink is karma" sounds like if Taylor was actually clever, funny, and could hit a killer high note.

slapstick_nightmare

Yes that was the exact song I was thinking ok!

mrsbeerme

My kink is watching YOUUUUUU-

TheDuzzyFuckling

Calling it now, Taylor is going to write a song that is exactly like Red Wine Supernova but 100x shittier to try and recapture her audience away from Chappell.

slapstick_nightmare

I wouldn’t bet against you lol. Ugh about some random dude or queer baiting 🤢

Key-Investigator-879

And I love it!!! It feels like pop music is back to what it used to be. For like five years now it’s been dominated by taylor. When you think of pop music you would think of Taylor Swift, but now that we have pop artists making a comeback (Katy Perry, although it’s controversial), Chappell Roan finally getting seen for her talent, Sabrina, Olivia, Charli, Camilla Cabello, etc making music it makes me so excited!!

[deleted]

Taylor can’t sing about what those three can. Particularly Chappell. Saw Chappell at Bonnaroo — she was electric.

EzDrake1971

If you ask me, it was her announcement of TTPD at the Grammy’s that signaled the end of her reign in the public eye for the last year. Ppl were already getting sick of her overexposure, not to mention how the Swifties have completely ruined being a casual listener of her music. Then when TTPD dropped, the reviews were HEAVILY mixed; nearly every music critic I follow gave it a tepid review, with some being downright negative (understandably, as it is her WORST album). This lead to the Swifties doubling down by ensuring the album remained on the charts despite not a single track has Single potential (Fortnight is such a dog shit song that I avoided it like the plague, then only recently heard it on the radio in 7-Eleven and was like “wtf is this?” Lmao). I for one am so goddamn glad that Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter came out on top this Summer with their songs as Tay Tay completely dropped the ball with releasing an unlistenable album that only the fanatical fans will listen to. And with the controversy surrounded the re-re-re-re-RE (x37) release of TTPD blocking Charli XCX from the #1 spot on the charts, it was only a matter of time before we see her back as the villain

RedditoraDeGuatemala

plus that huge disrespect towards celine dion

blackbifairy02

I think she’s going to be one of those overexposed celebrities that no one can stand like Jlo for example

OkLavishness19

THIS! I feel like the Eras tour, the nonstop relationship coverage and TTPD and all of its album variations are the equivalent of Jlo self funding a $20m vanity project in the form of a documentary about her creating a movie about her own chaotic love life. It’s literally Taylor 10 years from now.

mulderswife

Idk if they think Delicate (TV) aka "my reputation's never been worse" will hit harder after a massive shitstorm but you really cannot convince me they ain't up to something. She's one of if not the biggest mainstream celeb currently out there and there's teams upon teams controlling her every move. Apart from her problematic mean girl behaviour, her relationship is so obviously PR, people have been catching on to her stupid variant release game, her tokenism has been very obvious and she's consistently linked with incredibly questionable people like Matty or Travis' friends. Or Gracie Abrams for that matter. Every sane PR person would tell her to immediately stop whatever she's doing bc it's all hurting her reputation but maybe ironically that's the whole point.

gks0307

ugh but it’s so stupid of her to do that because it won’t hit the same. in 2016 she was technically wronged (or it’s easier to prove that without looking a crazy, u know what i mean?) so when she came back it looked like she was coming back from being bullied. but this time she brought everything bad onto herself. ttpd, jets, etc, that’s all her own choices so it won’t hit the same when she says “my rep has never been worse” yeah no shit that’s COMPLETELY UR FAULT this time. i hope this was coherent lol

bipolarbear2222

I’ve thought a few times now that she really must be trying to make the “my reputation’s never been worse” line accurate for the re-release. weird flex but ok

Dangerous-Army8407

This theory has been around awhile and I agree with it but yeah it’s such a weird move bc last time she was forced into exile (sort of, we found out later how she framed the narrative of that phone call & wasn’t totally innocent) but this time no one is forcing her to hook up with questionable men, release crappy music, chart block and boss babe bully, etc. 🤷‍♀️ I really want Rep TV (especially if they rock up the album like the stadium versions) but I’m also gonna have to boycott it if all this shit has been one big marketing move bc I’m not here for that. You don’t earn my business that way. *Edit: still playing victim when u created ur bad reputation this time is so immature and unoriginal

Solid_Panda7877

This is a good observation. It is quite hard to believe Taylor and her team would be dumb enough to accidentally mess up her popularity by constantly shoving her down everyone’s throat and allowing her to release an awful album.

MioneHP

I hope so😭🙏🙏🙏🙏

mel-06

should've never released TTPD, If I was her I would just released the best song as just as a "chapter"

Summer_Thunderstorm

It’s because of TTPD. She could have gotten away with dating douche bag Travis if she’d just kept focusing on her tour and not releasing an album that is completely forgettable. TTPD is a detriment to her career.

Business-Celery8771

Omg yess it is about time man she starts losing viewers on her song especially after what she did to Celine Deion and Lana del ray

muvamerry

The Celine Dion thing was sooo gut wrenching to watch. It made me go from not being a fan to truly hating her in that moment. ([Grammy](https://youtu.be/0gPWB9vqlVQ?si=ZL9o7pLUku2yn3O9) moment w/ Celine — worth noting that she is suffering from “stiff person syndrome,” a debilitating neurological disease. This was her first appearance in over a year and Taylor couldn’t even make eye contact…)* Lana Del Ray is amazing and didn’t deserve the shade Taylor sent her way. I LOVED her response though. “She wants it more than anyone else” 💀 yep and she buys what she wants!!

EtherealZiraley

out of the loop, would you mind briefly explaining what Taylor swift did to them?

muvamerry

For sure! I updated my comment but this breaks it down. Just totally snubbed Celine. It’s worth noting Celine has been suffering from “stiff person syndrome,” a debilitating neurological disease. This was her first public appearance in over a year. :( https://youtu.be/0gPWB9vqlVQ?si=ZL9o7pLUku2yn3O9

Large-Page5989

The Gracie Abrams duet is unlistenable.

craftycalifornia

It sounds like a TS song, very hard to pick out Gracie's voice. Which is the opposite of all TS collabs where you can barely hear the collaborator ;)

Klutzy-Treat-4444

I disagree with the internet turning against her. I think we just live in an echo chamber being on this sub. I think there’s a decent handful of ppl on Twitter calling her out about the album variants and billionaire status and maybe a couple of scattered think-pieces floating around, but the mainstream media is still very positive towards her. She’s nowhere near being “the internet’s most hated person”.

Typhon2222

Hit the nail on the head. The massive ticket sales and her album sales say otherwise. For every sub like this, there are 30 celebrating her.

NamesAreForSuckers67

I also think that her behavior at the Grammys gave people pause…I know that, for me, along with watching Eras on Disney+ made me go, wait she’s making me feel…uncomfortable

IceWarm1980

It’s about time.

WarmNebula3817

I have not noticed the decline personally. However, I do take into account my job when saying this. I'm a dance teacher with a TA who begs me to use TS in my dances. I simply go "nah I have something else planned" *something much better*

Violet_Potential

Yeah I think for a lot of celebrities, they eventually become overexposed and that’s when public opinion begins to change. Everything she’s being criticized for now isn’t really new (although her latest relationship with Travis Kelce hasn’t helped) but now that people are irritated by her and tired of her being everywhere, it’s more acceptable to call her out.

HooKingQueen

When I first heard they were going to be teaching classes about her at universities, I legitimately thought it was for business economics and marketing… not comparing her to actual poets 😳

Employment-lawyer

My brother in law is a music professor who loves her and he is teaching a class about her music at a college. When I heard that I thought he was kidding. Then I told my husband and he said that my brother in law (who is gay) is going to give the conservatives a legit reason to hate “useless” liberal arts school classes. ETA - This same brother in law told one of my female friends on Facebook that if she doesn’t like Taylor Swift she’s misogynistic. My friend was critiquing Taylor for her carbon footprint/private jet and for being a billionaire dating a racist etc but according to my brother in law the man, the sole reason for not liking Taylor is sexism. Hahaha.

Last-Philosopher-517

She’s not the most hated celebrity on the internet by far haha. She’s #1 in everything!!! This is the only safe space for any kind of snark or Tay criticism lol.

Cultural-Treacle-680

It’s like a Purge safe house

Solid_Panda7877

True, most hated might be a reach, but I have noticed a lot of memes about her private jet use and variants all over the internet, and negative comments about her, her fans and her music in the comments on many videos about her.

Last-Philosopher-517

Okay, wow, surprised that critical comments are slipping through the barrage of “Taylor is #1” comments. Maybe they forgot to pay their “cancel-all-the-critics” people at these tech companies (joking).

FloofyDireWolf

Sometimes I wonder if she has bots.

muvamerry

She has variants. Bots aren’t a stretch lol

Abject-Measurement62

I think it’s just become too many to delete or cover up. That’s how you know her ship is sinking

bellrae

Speaking of this being a safe space - I finally blocked her on Spotify. I was tired of the algorithm constantly forcing her music on me. The algorithm is now giving me a huge variety, including lots of indie artists and I am suddenly wanting to listen to more music.

avocado_macabre

Omg same here!!! I would go to like, Bastille or Metallica radio, and WHY THE F IS IT MIXING TAYLORS SONGS IN THERE??????? I legit thought I was losing my mind!!!

chubgrub

cept for this sub 😎 this sub is #1 in Celebrities

dragonflyb

Imo, yes, her popularity is waning. There are a couple of combined reasons for this: 1. Oversaturation / overexposure - i’m not in the camp that believes this is being done to make her popularity go downhill. I think they’re still trying to fix both the Matt Healy drama and the TTPD rollout because this whole era has been a debacle. The Gen Pub was getting so tired of the Taylor and Travis show being everywhere during football season. It’s gonna get worse during football season again. You literally don’t have to do anything more than exist to learn about half of her life against your will. 2. Midnights was a whiplash from folklore / evermore and TTPD made it a thousand times worse. I am not a fan. I liked 1989. But I hate her Easter eggy marketing. I hate the way she plays an innocent ingenue and says she doesn’t name names, but then does give clues which all but name the people involved. She has weaponized it against too many men for “hurting her,” and created a vitriolic atmosphere that no man can share his side of the story. I thought folklore and evermore were her maturing. I tend to give people multiple chances and hear them out. I was impressed by both of these albums. And then Midnights and TTPD hit. I was hoping they would also show the same maturity and disappointed when they did not. TTPD just further cements, in my mind, Joe did some heavy, heavy lifting in editing and writing he’s not technically credited for… learning about his background this makes tons of sense. SIDE NOTE: I would pay for a Joe Alwyn album and be interested in hearing such if he ever decided to switch careers. I think he could be a phenomenal singer songwriter and here’s hoping we get to see at least a song drop for a future movie. Sorry for the tangent. 3. Genuine versus Fake - a number of TS’s relationships have been more marketing related prior to Joe. We finally saw her in a private, committed relationship. It was really nice! I was honestly rooting for maturity and accountability. I think that’s why folklore and evermore were such different albums and reached more people. But we hadn’t seen Swift in genuine relationship or one where the PR aspects took a permanent back seat instead of competing interests at the very least, with PR winning out. Not seeing that and then being presented with it… and then cheating on that relationship and openly saying so and then entering into this really public situationship - it’s very obvious now what genuine looks like for her and Travis isn’t it. And you can only fool the public for so long with fake. 4. The masters debacle - I could say so much here… but even if she was a victim in this situation (she was not), re-recording and re-releasing is the worst thing she could have ever done. It’s oversaturated her in the market place, you can see where she was more heavily edited and therefore, how she’s been able to start releasing worse work without input from anyone that isn’t “yes’ing” her to death. 5. Ana’s death and her total mismanagement of that. 6. Her seemingly endless greed / need to top the charts, extorting fans with special editions and using that to block other women from the chart. All that said: I also think Katy’s inevitable flop for her upcoming era (I was truly rooting for her but Dr. Luke is going to be a no from me) will throw a further spotlight on TTPD’s era’s troubles, both because I think Perry’s going to blame the blonde woman and (possibly?) Kesha? Especially indirectly. It would be entertaining to watch if we weren’t talking about women in their mid-to-late 30s. There is never one real reason why public backlash begins. It brews for sometime and then there’s one incident that just sparks the powder keg. She needs to disappear for between 3 and 5 years but honestly I think fame is what motivates her. It’s not really money, but I *think* fame is what earns her love from her parents and, seemingly, the public. That’s why I don’t believe the over-saturation to ruin the reputation for Rep TV is the plan. I think she will do anything to continue to get love from her fans and keep the fame going, including date a football player and refuse to admonish her fans.

dragonflyb

I forgot to add one: Her fans. Not bringing them in check is really pissing people off. They are out of control. It’s ridiculous. And it seems to have been amplified by the Travis relationship - where a ton of her fans went off the deep end from casual to cultists because of it. I think they heard BDILH and honestly believe she’s admonishing other fans / the general public for not letting her have Matty, so they’re being good little soldiers and going crazy for Travis and helping to push the relationship. Not allowing any criticism and swarming when you say an honest gentle critique is incredibly toxic and people are tired of watching what they say and watching a beige artist collect all the awards and be shoved down our throats at the expense of much better artists.

Tangerine-y

She’s oversaturated and mid, bad combo

OkEdge7518

It’s because TTPD really really sucks.

Little_Bike_3707

TTPD sucked so bad

Ash9260

She just wants Lana’s sound but it isn’t working for her

Financial_Bug3968

When you’re on top there is nowhere to go but down.

Bratbrbie

She’s too predictable, like there needs to be a major plot twist. Like date a POC or go back to singing country, sing about Jesus Christ rather then men. Like something different.

ztarlight12

She has absolutely peaked. IMO she jumped the shark by announcing her new album at the Grammy’s.

muvamerry

I have to agree. I think the documentary did a number too. Many people who disliked her doubled down, others who were indifferent started to dislike her, and some of her fans are starting to realize how she’s more of a corporate shill than an “artist.” Then people start to put together the puzzle pieces of: wait, she’s performing in a world tour and “wrote” an *entire album*? And one that’s based on her engaging in a pump & dump rebound from the man she spent the better part of a decade with only to make fun of his depression on her album? And dragging Kim’s kids into it? And seeing how her fans treat people while she eggs them on or stays silent? And NOW she’s with Travis Kelce of all people and they’re shoving it down our throats as often as possible — right when she’s getting flack. How convenient timing for her. Not to mention how she got her career. The fake accent, not mentioning daddy’s $500k to “get her started” lmao, along with all of her lies about business dealings, including Kanye. People are realizing that Taylor’s audience are just mean little bitches, just like Taylor.

Elizabeth__Sparrow

I think the insane Swifties are a loud minority. I think the majority of her fans can recognize her poor behavior and bad album for what they are and they’re not listening as much anymore. I’ve also seen several things that have made me wonder if the eras tour hasn’t been the sold out smash hit we’ve been lead to believe. It’s possible she’s never been as popular as we think.

webby-starfish08

The media is still shoving her down our throats but hopefully it is declining. Ttpd sucks. She also has pjgeonholed herself because now some people listen to her music just to decode it and when the album isn't good there may not be as many people who are listening again. Hence why she is dropping the variants - she's desperate to keep the album #1. She still has 2 "re-records" to shove down our throats but those greedy releases are almost done too. So I hope you are right.

melisha82

I was a fan until TTPD.

MySharpPicks

Over saturation. People mocked NFL fans when they voiced they were tired of sports shows covering her. And the media coverage only grew. Now people everywhere are tired of seeing her

bkat100

TTPD sent her career downhill

Paperdaisies

Growing up I was super anti pop, loved thinking I was a cool alternative girlie. I gradually grew out of that (phew) and then I was a brief Swiftie mostly for Evermore and Folklore. I tried Midnights when it came out and half liked it. When she announced another album at the Grammys it made me just cringe and I realised that over saturation just kills my enthusiasm for any artist. I need time to enjoy and absorb and I guess to anticipate what comes next. Gimme time to breathe please. I haven’t even listened to TTPD at all and the pendulum has swung so hard in the opposite direction. I cannot listen to anything of hers now.

feliciahardys

She dragged out the relationship with Travis too much. It started out cute but then just got annoying to see all the time. I don’t find them cute anymore. At all. Because they’ve been so shoved in our faces.

afuzzyorange

Didn’t even know she collabed with Gracie Abrams so I’ll take that as a win

Mineingmo15

people are finally becoming burnt out on her and are turning on her. She's becoming Nickelback. People thought they were alright until they were unavoidable, and it's exactly what's happening with her.

firelizard18

i felt like there was a turning point at this year’s grammy’s. she accepted the awards like an asshole and announced ttpd as a weird power move. it was completely tone-deaf and she did it at *the grammy’s* in front of *waaaay* more than just her fanbase. it was when i, a completely neutral non-swifty who has not tried to listen to her music since 1989, took notice of how actively annoying she really was. there’s also the stuff with joe and her other exes (which i know nothing about tbh), there’s her private jet logs, there’s her petty history with basically every other female pop star, and there’s her general vibe of inauthenticity… ttpd sucking yet still charting as high as it is bc 40 different versions have been released—that sure doesn’t help either… i have little to say about travis at this point. i can only assume this relationship isn’t gonna go the distance tho

gunduMADERCHOOT

If a guy made an album trashing each ex girlfriend he would be crucified, if he made 10 albums dragging his ex's he would be the most hated of all time. Taylor swifts music is basically revenge porn for blind idiots

Adorable-Crew-Cut-92

Someone on here showed me that I can block her on Spotify and I did. Some of her songs I actually like as Bops but there’s too much evidence for me that she’s a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” and I will never support the mean girl.
