What I really want is federally legal homegrow, home-concentrate, and non-commercial transport with zero to minimal licensing, like with beer, wine, and liquors. The equivalent to 200gal/year 15%ABV wine per 2 adult household is something like 8-16 cannabis plants equivalent (David Nutt study).
Two or three states just (experimentally) legalized THC cocktails and "beers" at sporting events along with the rare other licensed venue. I have a lot of hope for high-end weed going forward.
The best hash I ever smoked was Indonesian hash when I was 18. It was light green, and just a gram of it stunk up my entire 2 bedroom apartment and a bit down the hall of the building. My parents thought I had a large quantity of flower and destroyed my room looking for it. They had a habit of stealing my weed and smoking it, then grounding me to teach me a lesson, all while denying smoking weed until I caught them one day. They never found it because I had a stash spot for small amounts in my boom box's subwoofer speaker tube. I felt like a champ taking that grounding while still having my hash and secret stash spot! 😹😹😹
I used to go to the dispensary with my mom, but my parents went their separate ways around that time. My father is distant, but I moved to Oregon and my family is still in California. Now I just go by myself while my wife stays at home. 😹😹😹

Every once in a blue moon my pops hooks me up with a die sized piece is what I lovably call “hippie hash.” My old man loves to claim he’s been breaking the law for 50 years before legalization in our state. His buddies still hook him up with a puck of homemade hash every now of which I generally get a piece of.
It’s unlike anything else. I don’t have a hash pipe or anything so I’ve found the best thing to do is a tiny amount in or top off a small bowl with a tiny bit. Just a nice enhancer.

One of the dispos near me started selling "Temple Ball" hash. Seems pretty good, but seems stickier (wetter?) than the hash I used to get. Still nice to sprinkle some onto joints when smoking in a group to make sure everyone gets nicely baked. Big fan of using it in joints, or doing knife hits of it when making some music with friends and we just wanna jam out on a rhythm until it morphs into something we all like. Also, nice to have a solid recording setup to catch those moments, because we're likely not going to remember that cool part we all liked 12 minutes into a jam.
IIRC, temple ball hash is basically rolling what drops off the bud and sticks onto your hands, while trimming and plucking buds, collecting it as you go, and then keeping that going until it reaches the right consistently. Small plant matter, oils from your skin, and heat from your body, all combine into the final result.

I got curious and looked it up, seems like most "temple ball" hash that you find on dispos nowadays is only "Temple Ball" in name and is usually bubble hash which is a cold water extraction method that was pretty common in the late 90's through the early aughts. I guess that's probably for the best, the old method of temple ball sounds a bit unsanitary.. Glad it's not the like that coffee bean Kopi Luwak which is literally coffee beans picked out of the poop of a cat. and is the most expensive coffee in the world and that coffee sounds too crazy to be true.

That's the real shit! Temple balls are made in the foothills of Himalayas where the marinuana grows naturally and the plants grow like 10-15 feet tall!! The buds are carefully plucked and then rubbed on bare hands (old people do it the best). The resin, and sunlight cause the trichromes to stick on the palm which is then carefully removed and cleaned. Obviously the higher up the hills you go the better it gets. What's crazy is high, high up the hills there's a lot of mafia that pays farmers to grow strains which is then exported to Amsterdam etc. There's a good documentary to learn more about it in YT, it's called Strain Hunters (India episode). Gives a peek into the marijuana scene in the hills. It's the most zen place on Earth. People really live in peace and unity. It's full community vibes everywhere. Culture shock!

It’s hard to tell if it’s a butter or live rosin, which is typically closer to that creamy white color. If it is Rosin it’s the highest quality concentrate of the bunch. But it’s anybody’s guess what it really is.
I mainly do cold start dabs and I find the flavor of budder to be smoother than saucier consistencies. I’m not sure why but I believe it’s because it melts a little slower. If I want to take a quick hot dab right to the dome I’ll go for a sauce because they vaporize quicker. I also prefer budder consistencies for dab pens because it’s not as sticky and I can just drop a little nugget into the chamber as opposed to trying to smear it around and get every last little bit off the tool.

Brick hash is typically mechanically sifted and you get a lot of the stalks mixed in with the trichome heads. Bubble hash is washed in ice cold water and agitated which snaps the trichome heads off the stalks and then it’s filtered through various sized micron mesh so the end product is all heads no stalks

1. Looks like full melt 5-6 star hash. You would need to flag it (smoosh in parchment paper with fingers to heat trich heads and have them melt into a flag) and dab it.
2. Looks like rosin, could be either hash or flower, possibly flower due to darker color but different strains wash differently.
3. Old school hash. Often referred to as afghani/Moroccan, if purity is high enough it can be dabbed, otherwise on flower or hot knives.
4. Looks like hash rosin to me. Texture would definitely help discern that.

Depends on what I feel like, smoking, or vaping? For smoke the #1 hash. For dabs the #4 looks great. Concentrates get conflated to be same-y too often, but if you tried to dab #1 or #3 you'd be dying, if not actually on fire from a flash combustion.

Hash has been ‘the usual’ since I was a kid since I’m from Europe but I’ve never had dabs. Quality kief is rare too. So is high quality hash as well but it comes around and the one in the photo doesn’t look like top shelf hash anyway although it could still be high quality or even some lovely old school hash.

I'm not sure if it's much different but I believe you have to put the pinky together, the b0 kit comes already assembled if I remember correctly

Agreed, like I said to someone else, I'm just more used to seeing gooey rosin, so my mind went to it being budder first.

1 looks like cold water extraction freeze dried 2 looks like rosin, or CO2 extraction 3 is good old fashioned bubble hash! 4 wax extraction could be CO2, butane, or rosin but it's definitely been whipped or center fused. 1, 2 & 4 should really be dabbed. 3 can be dabbed but probably better smoked in a bowl or in a joint or blunt.
I recognize the hash and 2 looks like a few different waxes I've had but 1 and 4 seem pretty unique. I've seen crumble, shatter, sauce, rosin but never really anything like 4
I think there's probably a bunch of "names". Wax, buddur etc... It's most likely a solvent based extraction that is then "whipped" or stirred to make the consistency.

This is different forms of concentrate, and theres all different kinds. Not only is the way they are made is different, but that also can greatly affect the high (in a + way). Theres more forms.

Depends on what I feel like, smoking, or vaping? For smoke the #1 hash. For dabs the #4 looks great. Concentrates get conflated to be same-y too often, but if you tried to dab #1 or #3 you'd be dying, if not actually on fire from a flash combustion.

4, 2, 1, 3 in that order. Hash has been ‘the usual’ since I was a kid since I’m from Europe but I’ve never had dabs. Quality kief is rare too. So is high quality hash as well but it comes around and the one in the photo doesn’t look like top shelf hash anyway although it could still be high quality or even some lovely old school hash.
