It looks like this is a **progress pictures** post. This post should contain before and after photos at least one month apart. Make sure to list all the treatments you're on, including the dose and frequency. Tressless now has a dedicated website to keep a long term progress picture journal, which you can try here without waiting for moderation: [https://tressless.com/start-journal](https://tressless.com/start-journal) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. VoidMageZero

Looks more than good enough on Fin imo, you could have kept Dut in reserve for if Fin stops working, but curious to see how it goes.

nathansosick

Hair fall was more than I would like and sebum production was too high. I want to keep hair for as long as possible so I think dutasteride early as possible is best move for me. I agree with what you said though. My fin results were plenty good and I shouldn’t risk potential sides for a few more hairs. So many people on this subreddit have said that dut ruined their hair but have no pics to prove it. I can hopefully share my anecdotal experience in a year.

VoidMageZero

Hair maximalism lol, I hope you get a blond afro

DelewareTrails

Hell yeah bro, awesome gains!! I love seeing fin only progress, great job being patient, and good luck with your dut journey - looking forward to updates!!

nathansosick

looking back I wish I never panicked and worried so much. Finasteride was so good to me.

No_Choco_Tacos

May be slowly introduce dut .. don't stop fin immediately . And yes there will be shed

nathansosick

Im just going cold turkey straight over to dut, I have no fear.

No_Choco_Tacos

Wtf 💀

nathansosick

I thought about doing a long transition like everyone suggests but dut will start working eventually. If I shed it’ll be okay, might even buzz it to shock the girlfriend. I think if anything dutasteride wont give me any gains but I don’t think it’ll make anything worse. Only time will tell though. Im excited to see in a year.

No_Choco_Tacos

Cold turkey? Really dude? And u have gf too.. Nothing make sense to me now

nathansosick

not worried about shedding, if it happens it will come back stronger 💪🏽

_JudgeDoom_

Going cold turkey is absolutely fine I don’t know why so many people here are weird about it. Good luck with the Dut! Edit: Lol and the weirdos downvote the post as expected. Maybe “do more leg raise”.

freakingouthelp12

forreal, ppl who transition slowly to dut, still suffer a shed anyways, so whats the point . lol

DosPantalones

So what’s the difference between fin and dut?

nathansosick

Dutasteride is stronger and blocks both type 1 and type 2 of 5AR. Side effect profile is pretty much the same. There are more differences but that is the gist, you can see people on this sub argue about the two all day long. In a case like mine where there is hairloss but no dead-zones I think finasteride is all that’s needed. Im just greedy and want to see what the maximum gains I can achieve with only blocking dht and no minoxidil. If I don’t gain anything from dutasteride I will probably introduce oral minoxidil.

Time_Caterpillar2024

Great progress bro.

nathansosick

Thank you! 🫡

Reddituser1614

Your age. 15 months fin now but no changes. When did you notice improvement? 10-12 months?

nathansosick

24 almost 25yrs old. 10-12 months is when I really noticed my hair was much better. Hair continued to get better as time went on though. Feel free to dm me.

Total_Law3061

Great job! Let us update about your new journey with dutasteride!

USSTexasBB-35

Use a shampoo with selenium disulfide in it (personally I use Vichy Dercos Anti Pelliculaire&Anti dandruff shampoo) and a topical lotion contains Clobetasol Propionate (i use Dermovate), these nuked my severe sebderm in about 3 weeks and i highly recommend them.

nathansosick

Im always looking for new shampoo recommendations thanks. Ive tried selenium disulfide and it was semi effective. I posted another comment about all the seb derm shit I rotate through but nothing has been perfect.

No-Physics1091

It seems you have responded well to Fin - no further loss and some hair thickening. Hair greed is a powerful thing, but keep in mind Dut may not improve your current situation, infact it you can be a non-responder to it (rare but possible). Speaking from experience. I would try oral minoxidil in your case - 2.5mg daily long side with Fin. See if you respond well to it with out sides.

nathansosick

I have a history of heart problems, myocarditis and pericarditis so trying to avoid min as long as possible. but definitely in the cards for the future if dutasteride doesn’t do much.

No-Physics1091

Ok, in that case I wouldn’t touch oral Min. I couldn’t tolerate it as well. Now just sticking to topical. But gl with Dut, hope it does wonders for you!

SeveralPhilosopher68

did you had shedding bro?

nathansosick

Not that I recognized. Kinda just took the tablet and tried to forget about my hair.

Eren_2120

I am applying 1ml Min every day at night. I am 15 ,taking Min+ Fin will grow my receded hairline ?

Right-Might664

You just have a big forehead dog!!! Rock a haircut with low sides, a frohawk, high fade, high taper or a combover if your white

nathansosick

If you are only 15 I don’t feel super comfortable giving you advice. Your hair shouldn’t be receding at 15, if it is please see a doctor.

Roonii98

How did you manaage your sebderm?

nathansosick

Rotating between fluocinolone scalp oil, clobetasol scalp drops, zinc shampoo like head and shoulders, ketoconazole shampoo, and tea tree oil shampoos. Most are prescribed by my dermatologist. None of the above options are perfect but they all help.

Ok-Change1589

Same boat just took my first dut ln. im 22 been on fin for 3.5 years and slowly losing ground. Not sides just peeing more maybe its just my body getting used to dut. Lmk if u experience anything similar.

nathansosick

Yeah I think I was slowly losing. No sides and I’m on Day 4 feels no different. I am pretty hopeful that dutasteride will give us both gains. All the data says that it is a little more effective and we are young so might as well try to halt it as hard as we can for as long as we can.

Ok-Change1589

Yeah im hopefull also. I hope this peening issue will reside for me tho😂 i will be pissed to stop dut just cuz i have to pee every 20 minutes.

nathansosick

the bathroom is free, transplants are not! 🤣

Ok-Change1589

Lmao good point but all seriousness prob will stop it if it continues but hopefully it goes back to normal😂

Zoner1999

Does your family have a history of hair loss? Looking from the photos pre it doesn't look too bad but you of course know better

nathansosick

It was pretty bad, those before pictures were what I took to send to hims. I honestly was so sad I was loosing my hair and couldn’t even take a proper picture to send to the doctor. If you look at the hairline in the before pic and look at the hair quality in the pic in the comments you can see drastic differences in quality and thickness on the hairs. I was diffuse thinning a lot and also every male in my family is bald pretty much.

Zoner1999

Your picture in the comments somewhat reminds me of my hair which is why I asked, but I've asked multiple people, including a dermatologist if I was balding and I got either unsure or people telling me no, but also my Paternal grandfather had hair until his 50's and Dad still has hair entering his 60's which is why I asked.

nathansosick

my key signs initially were drastically lowered hair quality, like my hair went from thick brown to blonde and wispy. Also just lots of hair consistently on my pillow. my doctor immediately told me it was AGA

Zoner1999

You may not have a count but how much hair were you losing in the shower? My hair has definitely changed a bit in quality and if I comb it forward I can see a little bit of my scalp depending on the angle, but I don't see a ton of hair on my pillow and I usually lose 10-15 strands in the shower

General-Switch-5722

What kind of seb derm signs do you have? Itchiness? I am 3 years on fin and on the days i dont wash my scalp with keto it is fcking itchy

nathansosick

Thick sebum buildup, scaliness, over the crown and temporal regions. Dutasteride seems to be helping with that so far. I also use baby shampoo on days im not using a medicated shampoo product.

General-Switch-5722

Do you still lose hair (you notice) while showering?

nathansosick

very very little, before treatment I could run my fingers through my hair and come out with a decent amount. I would wake up to my pillow covered in hair.

General-Switch-5722

I am thinking of adding dut as well because i my scalp still itches on 3 years fin

Infomanager1

Mandatory sides question post. Any sides?

nathansosick

No brother, just maybe a little bit of dry eyes at the beginning.
