Swimming in a river in Paris? The shark is the least of your worries

4nr-

They are cleaning the Seine for the olympics

VK_Olav

It's more likely to have a duathlon than to have a clean Seine

fabioruns

I swam in the canal st Martin once and I was itchy af afterwards.

stlq333

They do say you might get it

Stephen_Hero_Winter

The shark could beat me in a swim and I could beat the shark in a run, so the race comes down to whoever is faster on the bike.

JD_SLICK

Gotta think Shark has an aero advantage

LooseMoralSwurkey

on the swim, definitely the shark has an aero advantage. But you think that still applies to the bike as well?

JD_SLICK

Shark shaped entirely like a jumbo visma helmet

LooseMoralSwurkey

You seem to have given this quite a bit of thought...

lookglen

Not hammerheads tho

cougieuk

It's not Visma ! (I usually stick with the old names until half way through the tour too)

bythebeardofchabal

*it’s not Jumbo (Visma is still a title sponsor)

Soft-Slip4996

It’s literally Visma-Lease-A-Bike.

cougieuk

I told you I'd not get it right til the tour. It's jumbo that's gone hasn't it. My bad.

transient_smiles

Surely this qualifies as a hydro advantage?

sn0rg

The shark will struggle to clip in though…

[deleted]

If you are going to swim a triathon with a shark it is probably best to draft off of it in the swim. You know you can get past him on the bike.

jwwin

Maybe the shark is competing.

GunnyWombat

It will get DQ'd, its not got a number on.

[deleted]

Also no swim cap.

I-Made-You-Read-This

Bigger issue are his flippers !! Additional help

Tikoloshe84

Using fins - straight to jail.

BaxterTheWall

Sure to have a strong swim leg, granted. Can’t see it doing well the rest of the way

PreviousRecognition1

It looks to be struggling, mid-pack on it's strongest leg. Going to be a tough day for monster shark.

jamiehanker

One more thing to think about as I stare down into the darkness

brdoma1991

Seriously, any water other than a pool, from the ocean all the way down to a 15’ wide pond that is chest high, has a great white swimming just past my depth of vision when I am in it. Even hilarious movies like this are a no for me dawg

tri_it_again

💯

matate99

r/triathloncirclejerk

rooftopweeb

He will have a amazing swim time but I don't think the bike or run part is in his cards, sadly.

fabioruns

I have a tattoo of 2 orcas riding a tandem bike. I’m sure sharks could manage too

Strivingformoretoday

I need to see that tattoo!

ReverendRGreen

The rules forbid tandem bikes tho…

RedditorStrikesBack

Obviously this isn’t an official Ironman Triathlon, I mean they delay & cancel swims for thunderstorms, riptide, choppiness, strong currents and fog. Clearly they also cancel the swim when legendary sharks are present.

Sussurator

Phew I’ve got one on the 8th would have taken it as an omen

TLee1981

I have a 1 mile open water swim race on the 8th. (In a lake) Just watched the trailer for this film. It's basically a modern version of jaws. I personally can't handle horror movies. I've even had my own personal encounter with a shark while surfing.

Rifter06

This is hilarious. I got to check this flick out

lk05321

WTF. My spouse is already afraid of OWS and she’s going to Nice this year. Netflix, this is some BS. Gotta delete the Netflix app until after the race. Thanks for the heads up.

Biggrub3

This might up the registration numbers to the sport. IM nice will benefit from this.

Swissdanielle

Legit I thought it was a joke. I’m so shocked it is an actual movie with a [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnCefPQIH98&t=98s&pp=2AFikAIB) and all 🧐🥹😅😳

Lord412

Sharks aren’t that big.

kerowan

Just in case somebody needs to read this... Please keep in mind, that shark attacks are rare. > "The University of Florida's International Shark Attack File (ISAF), a scientific database of global shark attacks, confirmed 69 unprovoked bites in 2023." Fatal shark attacks are usually less than 10 per year. Just to put it into perspective, look up how many sharks are killed annually by humans.
