Raising the kids on TØP Still spreading the bandito gospel I salute you |-/

EatThePeach

My youngest will make up his own words to the melodies, taking about his toys or our cats lol it's awesome

NotEnoughAlpacas98

"help me pull her eyes" are the best lyrics I've heard from a child. Would love a post that's a compilation of these made up lyrics!

EatThePeach

Omg yes that would be hilarious!

lepausch

That's actually impressive. He might be a very good improvisor in the future and more...

EatThePeach

Most of the time it's about farts in some way, so hopefully he expands in the future 🤣

corinneski

We've created a TØP child. It's so adorable to hear a 7 year old singing Paladin Strait

krimzonBlackstar

Not a cult at all ☺️

corinneski

What? No never! 🫠

Princess_Cora

i only have a 2 year old but shes growing up on them! i was 6 months pregnant with her when i saw them for scaled and icy!

christoefire

My newborn was born the day after the release date. Definitely had it playing in the delivery room and has listened to it a lot with us in the last week

akxCIom

My almost 4 year old asked me to play ‘hey kid get out of the road’ the other day…we made a dance for it 😂

EatThePeach

My kindergartener asked me to stop playing the Penny loafer squeak, we were trying to slow down what he says right after the countdown before that line so he got burnt out on that one for now lol

fuzzy_plays123

did you ever find out what he says then?? ive been wondering ever since i heard the song for the first time but i can never make it out ahaha

EatThePeach

Best we got was just "one" reversed lol

fuzzy_plays123

oh yeah it is definitely something in reverse i just cant make out what!

deathdisco_89

My 4 year old son loooves Next Semester. He always says "play hey kid get oudda da road!"

Matchew024

That's adorable.

idkitsmecassidy

My five-year-old recently asked what was playing when “Navigating” was playing at our house. Now they consistently say it’s their favorite song. 🥺

zjthoms

This is awesome, haha. Love to hear it Wish I had kids already (33 going on 34), just for this kind of thing lol

kwaters0814

43 year old mom of 2 with a short story for ya. It was 2015 and my oldest (now almost 25) was trying to get me to listen to tøp. The kid was into super heavy metal at the time and I had zero interest. For christmas, I got them tix to see the band near our hometown for August 2016. Fast forward to spring 2016 and I’m hearing Stressed Out on the radio. “Oh I like this song. Catchy beat!” And the oldest shouts “Mom!! This is twenty one pilots! I TOLD you you’d like them!” So I search them on Pandora and I start hearing older songs too. Quickly becoming obsessed with this band that has completely unexpected beats and flows. Might be needless to say, but I also ended up buying myself tix to that Aug 2016 show. Here we are, 8 years later… my oldest has seen them 3 times, my youngest’s first concert at the age of 10 (now 15) was Bandito tour and they’ve now also seen them 3 times. And I’m on shows 6 & 7 for Clancy tour. That first year, 2016, also happens to be the year my life fell apart in spectacular fashion. The music from Tyler & Josh became my self care. Life may have been complete 💩, but the consistent message of hope in their songs… it’s what got me through and I’ll forever be thankful for these boys. Okay okay… not a short story 😂 I don’t share much of anything on social media, but your post spoke to me and I had to share my story. Spreading the love of this band to others is what we do!! || - //

EatThePeach

I'm glad you did share! Love to hear the stories, especially from other parents, makes me feel a little less old lol I first heard Holding On To You in 2014, i was 7 months pregnant with my first, and my husband's cousin chose to leave us, that song always reminds me of her in the best way. I didn't really explore any of their other music until recently, but have been a casual fan of all the radio hits, always surprised to look to see who the band is and seeing it's them (that happened with stressed out, ride, heathens and level of concern. I thought Tear in my Heart was Weezer for like, 5 years lol) My oldest is 10 this year, but he's on the spectrum, the huge crowd and loudness isn't something i think he'd enjoy at this time, hoping when he's a little older he'll be cool with it. Our city has free live music every week at the civic center, going to introduce them to live music that way.  Hope you all enjoy the tour! Thank you for sharing your not short story 🥰

maddoxowo

as someone whos on the spectrum, tøp concerts just hit different. with some good ear protection, it's easy to lose yourself in the vibe of it all. especially once hes older, he will understand hes in a room full of people very similar to him. i hope when you guys do, eventually go that its a good experience!! also, i recommend getting pit tickets and hanging out in the back. ive done middle of the pit, seats, and back of the pit and back of the pit was my favorite. it doesnt feel as suffocating with all the people and you have a lot more room to move around and dance!!! i love seeing other people connect w this band as much as i do, its amazing.

EatThePeach

Thank you so much for this! He loves blasting music in the car, so I'm confident he'll have a love for live music in the future! We have good ear protection for when we go see the fireworks, so we'll be bringing those this summer to our first live music outing.

moondaisgirl

I (43f) started listening around the time Blurry face came out. I am a former (just older LOL) emo and alterna-teen and love their sound. My husband tends to listen to heavier, but likes their stuff as well. Our 2 kids (17f and 12m) are huge fans now, too. My 17's 1st concert was a Columbus show for Trench, and I got my husband to go with me for a Columbus show for SAI. We are taking both kids too see them in Columbus on this tour, and it will be my 12's 1st concert (we live in OH, so driving to Cbus isn't a stretch). I love that I can share this with my kids. ETA - my kids' favorite songs are off of Self Titled and Vessel, so we listen to all of it pretty regularly

Booski_Babe

Just wanted to add to all the parent talk. My husband and I have been fans since somewhere around 2015ish. My youngest son always jammed out when they were on. Took him in oct 2018 to his first show on the trench tour when he had just turned 8. Went on to see them 3 more times on that tour. Same son came with me 4 times on the SAI tour when he was 11. Now we’re going to see em in September 3 wks after his 14th birthday. He’s actually been more into rap/hip hop but I just think TØP just holds a special place in his heart and it’s been our thing. I love seeing all the families at the shows. I even met a mom and daughter last show I went to and they were 60 and 33. Their music is just so special. My 21 year old son who’s into nu metal even bought me vessel and Clancy on vinyl with a record player for Mother’s Day.

sesamalan

I'm curious to hear which songs helped you the most when everything fell apart. It was 2018 for me and my most helpful song was "Not Today". Played it multiple times a day just to get through the mess.

AriesTFP

Awwww ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

purplecat82

The upcoming tour will be my sons first gig, he loves them and has ever since I had house of gold on repeat around 2018. He'll be 10 by then

garffunguy

Someone at work asked me what song was playing (midwest indigo) when i played the whole album lol

EatThePeach

I finally put my finger on what nostalgic band Midwest Indigo brings to mind, Jane's Addiction! Love the whole album, start to finish

garffunguy

Midwest indigo reminds me of half alive a little bit

aloofauthor

Same here, it definitely shares that vibe

metajenn

A few months ago a car was BLASTING Ride at a red light. Of course i creeped up to see who the cliquee was. Awesome to see an old haitian man absolutely wildin to top. Made my day.

EatThePeach

All are welcome here, i love it. I know i only feel old because i think that way, nobody else cares 🤣

adlangston

I’m 48 and I have a 16 year old daughter. She & I love them so much. I’m slightly more obsessed than she is. However, we totally bond over the lore and the boys.

boombang621

My wife got her first new car the day before the album dropped. It was the first album played in the new whip and she named the car Clancy in honor. I'm the bigger fan but this album has her. Only problem is the car is white, but that's ok.

shawniegore

*screams in fake you out* OUR CARS ARE WHITE BUT THATS OKAAAY!

boombang621

Haha, next time I play it that's happening.

EatThePeach

Lol nice! What kind of car?

boombang621

My three year old asks for twenty one when we get in the car. Haha

EatThePeach

They know what's good 👍

boombang621

Hell yeah

somekindastoner

My 10 year olds favorite song is Forest. Been raising him on TOP for a long while, he doesn't even listen to music but likes TOP because I constantly listen to it when doing dishes or cleaning house. blasting it through my sound bar. lol 39 year old mom here. Even got a skeleton key tattoo, they have been my favorite band for years. Last saw them live on the Trench tour. Can't wait to see them again!!!!!!

AriesTFP

I wish I could see them on the bandito tour man 😭😭

somekindastoner

It was amazing, they put on such good live shows. I saw them in Indianapolis. ❤️

ansley_g

Love this!! I’ve been listening to them while at pickup too but perhaps I need to roll down my windows. Spread the love! 😆

mak_daddy15

I keep blasting it everywhere I drive hoping someone outside hears and likes it 😂💕

frostprincess78

I told my aunts, my older brother, and my dads nurse to definitely check this album out since almost every song has been helping me deal with my grief and depression over losing mom.

EatThePeach

This music is healing, that's a fact. I'm grateful it brings you some comfort

AnthraxJessicaII

There must be something about Lavish cus my Mom got back from work when it was on and it immediately clicked with her. She does already like TOP thanks to my sister liking them for years, but I'd had the Clancy singles on around the house and non of them hooked her as much as Lavish. It really is a banger of a song

customconverse

Wow that's exactly what I imagine happening (more like hope happens) when I blast music with my windows down, it's never actually happened to me though

Any-Living-3924

Geeze, my 21 year old texts me from the basement telling me we're rattling stuff of her walls when we listen to Heavy Dirty Soul LOL

EatThePeach

Lol that's hilarious. Reminds me of this NOFX song https://youtu.be/tAaKEZLs_BM?si=28DkASC8MRuDWk-O

Any-Living-3924

This triggered a core memory holy shit. Hubs fav band is the Crue... I'm a Misfits fan.. We are the epitome of this song. LOL

EatThePeach

LOL That's awesome

Baby_Penguin22

I also skip the craving because of all the feels. Great song though!

EatThePeach

It's gonna be the first dance at every wedding this summer, I'm calling it now lol

NevermoreTalon

"Older" 😥😢😭

EatThePeach

Lol honestly didn't really mean old, just older than me. Oldies Station hits a little different for those of us who used to tape our favorite song off the radio 😅

NevermoreTalon

🤣 honestly, I did take it the way you meant it, but at first glance, it hit a little.

shawniegore

I freaking love this post!!

EatThePeach

Aww thanks! 🥰

exclaim_bot

>Aww thanks! 🥰 You're welcome!

meemawyeehaw

I’m a 46-yo mom, I’ve been a casual fan for several years, cuz my kids. Their first concert was TØP in 2019. Awesome show, even my husband was impressed and he’s a hard sell. We have seen them 3 times now, though i still have remained a fairly casual fan. We then bought tickets to our 4 & 5 shows for September. So since there was a new album coming and a tour, i decided to dig in a little more. Went back and listened to their entire discography in chronological order and dug into the lore a bit more and then Clancy came out and now I am officially obsessed. I just hit shuffle and listen all day while im driving around for work. My daughter keeps telling me “i told you!”. Added bonus is that she and I are having fun being obsessed together. Bonding over music is one of the best parts of parenting teenagers!

Songofboners

This makes me excited for the future haha I have a 1 1/2 year old and he already loves twenty one pilots. Chlorine was the only song that made him stop crying at one point lmao he’d be in a terrible mood and as soon as the song came on he’d instantly stop crying lol

antihistamins

I'm a parent of a 5yo who loves TØP, can already sing most of the choruses on Clancy as well as almost the entirety of Overcompensate (English isn't even his first language), favorite song is Saturday, and does a super cute but thorough retelling of the DEMA storyline in his own words. And last week my mom texted me about how much she liked the new album and resonated with a lot of the songs. There's three generations of TØP love in my family🥰🥰 If they ever come tour in our country (I'm on one of the continents with no tour dates yet😂) I'm definitely bringing both of them🥰

EatThePeach

Thank you for sharing! Their love is worldwide for certain, i hope you get to experience them live!

Boltmews

"Music ‘brings us together, helping us reflect upon who we are, where we have come from, and what lies ahead." - Former President Brock Obama It speaks without you saying anything, giving the voice to the voiceless, helps heal what is broken, and can even make new friends. We are Twenty One Pilots, and we spread the message to help those heal and reflect on thier lives, and what to live for. Way to go! ||-//

EatThePeach

That is a because quote! I absolutely agree, it's something that can connect so many of us, i love it!

Matchew024

Spreading that TOP love! I wish I could experience this album as a non-fan. Love it, beginning to end.

EatThePeach

I've never watched reaction videos but I've been obsessed with watching them for this album, and anyone experiencing them for the first time with any song. D Rich did every album song by song

Matchew024

Oooooh, never thought of that. I'll check it out!

Quiet_Signature_1477

JUST STARTED FROM THE BEGINNING WITH MY KID...NO PHUN INTENDED REGIONAL AT BEST AND THE COVER SONGS INCLUDED

EatThePeach

The Unplugged is amazing Enjoy the journey! What a great way to connect with the kids!

wedway1969

Very well said. It's definitely a special one. I too have to skip The Craving in the car. As soon as I hear Jenna, I tear up. LoL

EatThePeach

Same! Lol

renewInfinityTrain

HOORAY!!! I hope that happens to me someday! I am constantly trying to introduce people to this new album and the band as a whole

Fantastic-Diamond407

Introduced my daughter (now 11) to the boys back on trench. She's now my TøP confidant in the family. She's coming with me to the Orlando show in September. She struggles to understand the lore but she'll get it eventually lol.

EatThePeach

Love this, the music is universal! Thank you for sharing

LegitimateClay47

Another Dad here. 46, and my 14 yo daughter has been a TØP fan for a few years now. She’s talked often about their music, but I never listened to much of it until just before Overcompensate was released. Fast forward to now. We have tickets to see them live on tour, we attended the listening party together, we share interviews and song reaction videos back and forth, and I have Clancy on infinite repeat. And all I can say is: What’s about to happen? WHATS ABOUT TO HAPPEN?

EatThePeach

Love this! What reactors to do like? I've become obsessed watching reactions lol nobody else i know likes them that i can talk to! Hence why I'm here haha Also which city are you going to? I'll be in Detroit!

LegitimateClay47

We like JLAnderson, Audio Lunch, and Reaction Therapy the best. D. Rich is fun to watch for the sheer joy he expresses at every song. All are on YouTube. We’ll be at the show in Raleigh!

EatThePeach

Love D Rich! JL Anderson great too, haven't heard of the other two, will definitely check them out! Thanks!

LegitimateClay47

Audio Lunch = former band mates and audio engineers, so they dig into the production side of things (which I find interesting). Reaction Therapy looks at their music from a mental health point of view.

EatThePeach

Reaction Therapy i have seen but hadn't subscribed! Love how he jams out and love his discussions! Checking out the other one, I'm a singer and have a little studio experience so I'll definitely appreciate that!

sideXsway

I don't like the craving other than the video

[deleted]

You have a child while using “too many feels”? Oh no

OkExamination8572

I agree
