My body has a literal physical reaction, like hair-raising goosebumps everywhere, every time I hear one of his screams lol. Nothing like the live shows where we get so much more than in recorded tracks. 💛
Him yelling ohhh at the end of one of Jumpsuit choruses towards the end is one of my favorite little lyrics of the song.
And the end of Car Radio is so good obviously.
Gotta love the man's XL size lungs. I was blown away when I first heard Jumpsuit, and then again when I watched the Livestream version of Shy Away. Dude's got so much power in his voice. Kitchen Sink is another worthy mention
The reason I love twenty one pilots as much as I do is because I feel like their music speaks for me. In that regard, I find Tyler's screams rather cathartic cuz there are days when I literally just wanna scream.
Its all part of Tyler expressing his emotions. He doesn't just "randomly" put in screams, they definitely show up in songs and at certain parts where he's trying to illicit a certain feeling of emotions. Jumpsuits scream happens right when Tyler begins running from Nico in the mv, so the screams give the sense of urgency. Car Radio has the screams at the end, repeating the words "Now I just sit in silence". The silence is driving him mad, and he's trying to quiet his thoughts by being louder than them. Heavydirtysoul, in some versions, he's screaming out, pleading for someone to save him. He's hurting and he's also trying to flee Blurryface in the mv. Another sense of urgency. Same for Goner and Fairly Local.
Screaming is just another part of the emotions Tyler is trying to imitate in his art. I don't think these songs would hit as hard without those screams. The amount of emotions he's able to convey with such a sound is remarkable to me. Ive listened to all these songs many times over, and not once has those screams not cause some sort of spike in emotion in me. I could be daydreaming, off in my own world, through the entirety of Jumpsuit, but be suddenly pulled out of my thoughts the moment Tyler screams "Cover me!" Near the end.
Those background screams embedded underneath choruses scratch the itch for me. Slowtown, Holding On To You, Guns For Hands, Fairly Local, Tear In My Heart, Shy Away... the list goes on. There's something comforting about singing along, because it makes those screams audible.
I love them. As you could guess by my username, I grew up listening to 2000s post-hardcore and metalcore, and Tyler is right up there with the best of them, especially stuff like Jumpsuit or Run And Go.
I’d kill to hear Tyler do a fully-screamed verse on a heavy song with like Beartooth or something.
Ive always thought that his screams were great. Showing that compassion at the perfect time. But when he did that scream during the Shy Away livestream I became obsessed with the screams and gained a newfound respect and appreciation for them.
In my opinion, Tyler's screams are ironically breathtaking. They are exciting and soulful and I get chills every time. It’s what I’m here for. Exhilaratingly arduous in a way. Tyler's songs are a whole roller coaster that I am ready to ride.
I think you came to the wrong place to asks this lol, everyone on this sub is gonna say they love his screams, I feel like you can really feel his emotions whenever he screams or at least I can relate to it
He really doesn't scream that much lol. Maybe Vessel has a relatively large amount of it? HOTY, Car Radio, Semi-Automatic come to mind - but that's still just a couple songs haha. Trench has the one in Jumpsuit and a small bit in The Hype? Blurry has 'em on a couple as well but like, he really doesn't scream that much i don't think
I don’t think anyone has mentioned the scream close to the end of goner.
Those final screams make the song even greater.
Hell fricking guns for hands, the pantaloon, trapdoor.
And if you wanna go way back, Save.
These screams just really make the songs so great and make them be filled with so much raw emotion.
I just can’t help but to repeat them
That's weird, a lot of bands/singers have people scream in their music. It's not weird, I guess those that make this criticism have a softer pref in music which is fine.

back when i was an insecure kid they were kinda off putting in how frequent they were over pop that "shouldn't be that serious" or smth but they give everything a lot of character and emotion and visceral-ness and i think those qualities are what separate them from other self-serious pop
At first when I didn't listen to them that much I thought it was weird. Now I love it. I saw them for the first time this year and I was just waiting for all his screams to hear live. It gives so much more emotions to the songs in my opinion.
I enjoy them thoroughly especially like Jumpsuit, I don't return to TOP often, but when I do the screams are a treat that I don't hear anywheres close to as regularly as my usual music picks
I think this is part of the reason SAI will never be one of my favorite albums . . . there's not very many spots where he can scream in SAI and have it sound natural.
SO much emotion in his screams and they happen at the exact right time in the songs. And seeing and hearing his screams live is just breathtaking. I love how he adds them to songs that aren’t recorded with screams, like heavydirtysoul. 💀❤️💀
My personal favorite tyler scream is in the TOPxMM sessions, during the end of HDS when he does “will you SAAAVE, SAVE MY, SAVE MYYYY” that last “MYYY” is just perfect.
I love his screams so so much.
I find that their older stuff has more screams compared to their newer stuff and it makes me sad.
So raw and really adds the emotion into the songs.
I can’t imagine not loving his screams, they’re honestly my fav parts in the songs where he does scream and I can never get enough of it, always goosebumps on goosebumps too!! Especially in Goner, Jumpsuit, and Shy Away live!!
So cool, tho. I think that is the best part of the song. When I first listened Goner, it made me shocked because the screaming is so loud and it highlighted the song. If anyone ask me "what is my fav Tyler's screaming moment", I would say that is Jumpsuit.
I've grown less partial to it over time. I still love them, but I used to be obsessed with them. I've started to grow more fond of his falsetto recently. There are some older songs where he sounds a bit too nasally and the screams feel a bit forced like in The Pantaloon. I still like these songs, but they don't compare to the songs where the screams are used to elevate the song like Goner.
The absolute best and most full of emotion is the one from Trapdoor in Self Titled. ‘AND FINISH HIS WASTE OF A LIFE’ it was such a powerful lyric and all the others are very emotional but it was so strong on this one
I think the screams connect me to his soul, personally. Like all the emotions he lets out in a single scream makes it so raw and intense and that’s why TØP is my favourite band. Because Tyler and Josh are not afraid to be different and experiment. There’s a real beauty to that.
the only people who think the screams are weird are the ones who are closed minded towards different music. they're extremely tame compared to what they could be
The screams are the best part. It's always so visceral and raw. So much emotion behind it What kind of crack are those people smoking?
shit that's obv not good enough
Agreeeeeee
My body has a literal physical reaction, like hair-raising goosebumps everywhere, every time I hear one of his screams lol. Nothing like the live shows where we get so much more than in recorded tracks. 💛
Him yelling ohhh at the end of one of Jumpsuit choruses towards the end is one of my favorite little lyrics of the song. And the end of Car Radio is so good obviously.
I agree but the end of fairly local too🛐
YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH
I love Tyler screams. We love us a good dramatic king
Exactly, it’s those other people that are weird for not liking his screams
Gotta love the man's XL size lungs. I was blown away when I first heard Jumpsuit, and then again when I watched the Livestream version of Shy Away. Dude's got so much power in his voice. Kitchen Sink is another worthy mention
It's all in the diaphragm, baby
Lmao yeah but I think he's also said that during an xray, a doctor told he that he has really long lungs
It really makes the songs! Not forced. Always at the perfect spots.
We need more of them!
The reason I love twenty one pilots as much as I do is because I feel like their music speaks for me. In that regard, I find Tyler's screams rather cathartic cuz there are days when I literally just wanna scream.
Exactly. His screams say everything I cannot.
His unique scream is the best!
I love the catharsis I get when I scream along with his screams, they are 🔥
Its all part of Tyler expressing his emotions. Absolutely love them. Still can’t work out how on earth to do it though
It’s called a vocal fry, you can scream for as long as you like without hurting your vocal cords
Chris Liepe is a vocal teacher that goes over this.
Is he on YouTube? I’d really like to learn
He actually has a video on how to sing like Tyler! https://youtu.be/Ao0ZxylMMvs
Thanks so much! Let’s see if this helps. Thanks for showing me this 😁😁😁
insanely good!!!!
Those background screams embedded underneath choruses scratch the itch for me. Slowtown, Holding On To You, Guns For Hands, Fairly Local, Tear In My Heart, Shy Away... the list goes on. There's something comforting about singing along, because it makes those screams audible.
Yessss! His layering of sounds is unmatched. Vocals, instrumentals, all of it. Insanely good.
I love them. I love them he puts so much emotion into his screams
Not sure if that is the problem, I would say more people will criticize his like chicken rap flow.
Ive always thought that his screams were great. Showing that compassion at the perfect time. But when he did that scream during the Shy Away livestream I became obsessed with the screams and gained a newfound respect and appreciation for them.
I love how you can FEEL his emotions through his screams. It’s like he’s screaming directly into my soul.
In my opinion, Tyler's screams are ironically breathtaking. They are exciting and soulful and I get chills every time. It’s what I’m here for. Exhilaratingly arduous in a way. Tyler's songs are a whole roller coaster that I am ready to ride.
I think you came to the wrong place to asks this lol, everyone on this sub is gonna say they love his screams, I feel like you can really feel his emotions whenever he screams or at least I can relate to it
I only posted this to prove a point, that it’s not weird that so many people are attracted to someone’s screams
Fair enough
They call it a fetish, but no one in the clique says it’s weird.
I live for his screams
Goner with no screaming wouldn't be as good
The car radio mtv version did this perfectly
DON’T LET ME BE!!!
IM A GONER
He really doesn't scream that much lol. Maybe Vessel has a relatively large amount of it? HOTY, Car Radio, Semi-Automatic come to mind - but that's still just a couple songs haha. Trench has the one in Jumpsuit and a small bit in The Hype? Blurry has 'em on a couple as well but like, he really doesn't scream that much i don't think
That’s why it sounds good
Right! He doesn't scream, just to scream. He places the screams where the emotions are strongest.
they're beautiful and i feel stupid when i'm singing a song where he screams and i can't do it
My favorite parts of the songs next to his falsetto
Yes! Nothing better! I'm glad we don't have to choose between screems and falsetto. Glad we can have them both.
I feel like they carry so much emotion and bring new feelings to the songs, they feel so... Visceral and personal. Idk, I loooove them
His live screaming is incredible. When they do Polarize live, he adds some fantastic screams.
Yes and in Heavydirtysoul too. It's just beautiful.
Is the best part
I prefer songs where he screams
i love them. screaming in songs can just turn into noise, but his are just so emotional
screaming in music is amazing, but something about tyler screaming just hits different for me <3
So people going to tell the guy what to do in his music? Let him be an artist. Love those screams, don’t ever stop.
his screams make me feel so empowered honestly. i can feel his emotion
I love it because it’s showing raw emotion
I love the energy of it when he screams especially when seeing him live
When I first started listening to them I thought it was OK but I love the screams now. Jumpsuit is the best of the screams in my opinion.
I think they're sick!
SO SICK!
I love them, especially in Holding Onto You
Love them. Especially in Kitchen Sink when he sing/screams "DON'T leave me alone"
I LOVE TYLER’s SCREAMS💓
My three-year-old is obsessed with “Tyler scream songs.”
they are sexy
I don’t think anyone has mentioned the scream close to the end of goner. Those final screams make the song even greater. Hell fricking guns for hands, the pantaloon, trapdoor. And if you wanna go way back, Save. These screams just really make the songs so great and make them be filled with so much raw emotion. I just can’t help but to repeat them
The songs he screams in are the best. I’ve actually disliked them the more poppy they’ve gotten.
always a special treat, wish we got more, it adds so much to the songs to me
have they never listened to like hardcore punk or any other type of music with screaming? I wish he screamed more, tbh
I LOVE IT HOPE THE NEW ALBUM DOES IT MORE
They are so good like wtf best one imo is probably goner only because I love to scream with it.
i wanna fkin scream too.
MORE OF THEM (please and thank you).
It is the best thing about the band
I’m curious why anyone would think it’s weird.
They are the best part
It’s perfect. It reminds me of Chester Bennington.
That's weird, a lot of bands/singers have people scream in their music. It's not weird, I guess those that make this criticism have a softer pref in music which is fine.
AND NOW I JUST SIT IN SILENCE
I love them
The one in March to the sea is great
Agreed. I haven't heard enough people talk about it.
Love the way he screams in all songs. I think the scream in the livestream version of shy is my favorite.
It feels like my agony is being torn away and thrown away. It's like his call is setting me free.
Love
I typically don't like scream music but Tyler just makes it work. I love his scream in the live version of shy away
I love his screams ! It opens up an emotion in me I can’t explain but can connect to! 💗💗 RAW UNFILTERED FERAL ENERGY!!!
There’s a reason why Jumpsuit is their best song
Young Tyler screaming to God in earlier songs makes my cold, dead heart actually feel something.
Same, I prefer listening to self titled, RAB, vessel and sometimes even NPI to hear young Tyler screaming
When the hell does Tyler scream?

ugh i love them so much. Especially at the end of Goner. It just adds so much more emotion. Like he’s screaming from within because it’s his pain
i like his screams, only problem i have is the music gets quieter when he screams. just let it be loud
I never really liked screaming in music in general, but I think it's kinda dumb to entirely dislike a band because he screams sometimes
I never really liked screaming in music - until Tyler. But his screams always have purpose, unlike other musicians who scream just to fill gaps.
its funny cause he barely screams in his songs
Regional at best?
how many people who aren't fans of twenty one pilots know about that album and of those how have listened to it
Ah that’s right, maybe I’ll just make them listen to RAB
RAB is rough. His voice may be putting them off, rather than his screams. Better to play live versions of their better known tracks.
I love it! It adds that extra emotion.
back when i was an insecure kid they were kinda off putting in how frequent they were over pop that "shouldn't be that serious" or smth but they give everything a lot of character and emotion and visceral-ness and i think those qualities are what separate them from other self-serious pop
oh also i just really like screaming in music in general which i had also not grown into at that point so maybe i'm a bit biased

It works on some songs more than others
I think this is part of the reason SAI will never be one of my favorite albums . . . there's not very many spots where he can scream in SAI and have it sound natural.
Idk, I think it sounds pretty natural on Never Take It
Literally the best 😭😭
SO much emotion in his screams and they happen at the exact right time in the songs. And seeing and hearing his screams live is just breathtaking. I love how he adds them to songs that aren’t recorded with screams, like heavydirtysoul. 💀❤️💀
I love when tyler screams! it always sounds so raw and full of emotion, especially in Car Radio and Guns for Hands

I like it, but my dad listens to hard rock, so I’m used to it.
I love his screams so so much. I find that their older stuff has more screams compared to their newer stuff and it makes me sad. So raw and really adds the emotion into the songs.
Fetus Tyler Joseph’s screams were something else
I love them
I can’t imagine not loving his screams, they’re honestly my fav parts in the songs where he does scream and I can never get enough of it, always goosebumps on goosebumps too!! Especially in Goner, Jumpsuit, and Shy Away live!!

Sometimes my soul just needs to hear it. And not just any scream/singing, but specifically from Tyler. Does that make sense?
His screams are integral to the storytelling of his lyrics, and he’s very purposeful in their placement. 10/10 would recommend
that's the best part for me!
The absolute best and most full of emotion is the one from Trapdoor in Self Titled. ‘AND FINISH HIS WASTE OF A LIFE’ it was such a powerful lyric and all the others are very emotional but it was so strong on this one

I love it!! Saw you guys live earlier this year in Chicago & you guys put on an amazing show!!
the only people who think the screams are weird are the ones who are closed minded towards different music. they're extremely tame compared to what they could be
There is something so soothing about a rage filled scream.
I love the screams. All of them.
[I like to listen to Tyler do this in Heavydirtysoul](https://youtu.be/CqZ7Y1z2Nfk)
