I love it! These are one of my favorites typewriters. The grey paper table looks awesome: nicely done, and the soundproofing is a fantastic touch. I've also removed the bizarre black 'snow' that is all that remains of IBM's original soundproofing on several machines. Nasty stuff. They are super loud without it (but I kind of dig the thundering power roller and clanking, clackity noises of an un-soundproofed model B: it scares people).
Wow! I love the looks of these machines, but I have never seen inside one and thus don't know how hard they'd be to restore. Does it have a rubber power roll? What kind of mechanism provides power for shift and carriage return?
Yes, it has a humongous rubber power roll that powers key action, envelope shift and the ribbon vibrator, but the carriage return is powered by a separate drive and clutch mechanism. It's a complex beast, but amazingly well-built and durable (which results in it's amazing weight - not something you want to move around much!).
