IRC they fixed it in patch 3. I had a lot less trouble with it after the patch anyways. Although I find that sometimes I need to turn it on manually, but that is a lot better than having it suck out all the oxygen while submerged lol.
At flank speed you don’t charge the batteries and the gyrocompass passively drains the batteries. At one tick below flank speed you do charge them but very slowly
Is your compressor working? The compressor draws more power than the engines produce on the type II
This was it for me. A sporadic bug on the type II leaving the compressor running indefinitely.

All I have running is lights and systems, no pumps, comps or any side shenanigans
At what speed are you sailing? Top speed all power is going to the engines, not to any dynamo for charging.
I think it’s been fixed in this evenings patch
