And how irresponsible would that have been. You just fell down the stairs bad enough to get a concussion and your team puts you in the ring? How about things that never happened for $10.
I know this is a joke but it's crazy how Amanda Nunes is one of the few female fighters whose biomechanics are on par with the male athletes, I'm not saying she's just as skilled as male fighters like Poirier of course, but rather that unlike most female fighters she actually looks like she's properly putting her weight into her punches and rotating her hips as she throws rather than just throwing arm punches with no balance.
She looked like if you had put Eddie Alvarez into the Women's divisions and just told him to go nuts. She just walked everyone down with the assumption that none of them had the power to hurt her.
I'll keep saying it. Amanda punches through her target while the others punch at their target. Every time someone in WMMA lands a shot, their momentum literally stops the moment it makes contact.
She has the shoulder width and mass for that force to carry over.
If you don't have the mass for that force to translate, you're actually better off touching / point-fighting, as you're just gonna slow yourself down for minimal power gains.
What you are talking about depends on the punch you are throwing. The reason you get one punch knockouts from Suga, Izzy, venom, holland, etc etc etc is not shoulder mass.
While obviously not every fighter is built for power even someone who's not built like a puncher can still benefit from properly shifting their weight into their punches, it's just a matter of the physics that go into a good strike really, someone like Volk, Max or Cruz are clearly not heavy punchers and their technique was clearly focused much more on speed rather than power, but they still threw punches with proper technique (even if unorthodox at times), rather than just mindlessly flailing like a lot of female fighters do.
Few? Nunes, Holmes, Joanna, Rose, Weili, Shev, Grasso, Yan, Cyborg. That's off the top of my head. I've seen it in other fighters if I took the time to review and remember.
Guess you could say it is a few or not.
Also, counterpoint, good lord there are a lot of men who can't translate their bulk into a punch.
Ufc marketed this as the return of rousey. Not promoting nunes as good as she was. Rousey was the catalyst for the UFCs wmma. If Rhonda were to fight now I don’t think she would be ranked without help from Dana.
When generations turn over it is so fast. It just takes a minute to catch up. Same when Cruz lost, and Aldo lost, etc etc.
Also, Rousey demolished Zingano in seconds and Zingano actually bullied and beat down Nunes (people forget that).
So it looked different before the fight. People didn't know how much a grappling-only style had become the past until after the fight.
Look at the 135 roster right now since Nunes is gone.. maybe 3 legit strikers in that lineup and i dunno if any of them could stop a clench throw and armbar from Rhonda. If she came back today with the same skills she left, Holm is still her biggest threat. I'm not even a Rhonda fan i still think she runs through basically everyone in the division today.
Nah. She still has an insanely expensive contract.
They would still put her in the title picture just because they have to pay her so much money. She come back and be 1 win or less from a title shot.
I don’t know what rousey is thinking, even at the time people where telling her to get a different trainer, he’s not helping you develop, you can’t strike! Why the bs excuses? Holly out classed her as did Nunez as we all expected because Rousey can not strike
Came here to ask this. Cannot for the life of me rationalize why she didn't learn at least some technical striking, whether it's boxing, Muay Thai, or kickboxing. Ideally all three. It's gotta be some combination of delusion, obstinacy, and subpar coaching.
Some people just don't seem to be able to strike. Look at Ben Askren. He was doing mma full time for a decade and looked like he had never thrown a punch in his life. Even if he had only spent 5 minutes a day practicing striking, that still adds up to hundred of hours of professional striking training and not even so much as an overhand right was developed.
She was at this point still the best grappler in her division, and yet never learnt how to shoot a double or single leg.
Her trainer was a bad boxing trainer in itself, but the fact that she relied on hip tosses after being in MMA for so long was always wild to me
Disagree that she was the best grappler in her division. Amanda would have ground and pound her in the same fashion and so would have the top 10 of the division,
Women’s MMA accelerated at in insane rate. Aka, everyone else got real fight camps and training.
Same thing happened in men’s MMA years before that. Mir talked about how fighting for UFC in the early years was a part time gig and nobody was practicing their craft as a full time job.
This fight was clearly lost due to the fact that her hair was pulled back too tight. Thus pulling on her eyelids giving her a slight walleye vision syndrome. Resulting in the straight punches seeming like they were going wide.
It’s not a new phenomenon. That’s why Edmond always kept his hair short when he was dominating the kickboxing circuit.
Surprised he didn’t pass this on to his star fish pupil.
When Nunes is bouncy and on the balls of her feet she's so much fun to watch. Anytime she fights flat footed she has trouble but when she's bouncy like this no one competes with her.
This was prime Nunes too. Still hungry. I think she got a little complacent in the end from basically dominating everyone, but injuries also take a toll. Honestly the only women's MMA fighter I'd pay to see.
Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk also stand out. They're both kind of getting into the Bellator stage of their careers though. That Joanna vs Weilei fight was one of the best fights I've seen period. Pena was impressive in both matches against Nunes, but apparently she's still on the mend and hasn't fought since their rematch in 2022. I think they're hoping Kayla Harrison can fill the void, but she's also at the downturn of her career. Someone will eventually stand out.
Edit: originally said Grasso instead of Pena. But Alexa Grasso is impressive too. I thought for sure Shevchenko would win the rematch, but Grasso got a chin and some fucking heart.
If I didn’t know better I’d think this was just a clip of the fight, but this is basically the entire fight save for a couple of punches. Nunes literally made her into a heavy bag and the ref had to step in in like 40 seconds
There's something so badass about what Amanda does about halfway through this video after the 4 piece. She knows Ronda is hurt, and almost has to slow herself down to not walk into something. I see fighters do this a lot when a opponent is hurt, and it's gotta be the coolest feeling
Amanda had no respect for anything Ronda could do to her. Just walked her down and beat the fuck out of her. Just shrugged off Ronda’s discombobulated attempt at a clinch.
She has the saddest stand-up game. She has mournful stand-up. It's like two suicide notes stuffed in a pair of MMA gloves.
Her stand-up is like a kid with progeria cracking his ribs trying to catch a nerf ball sad ...
[This bit especially](https://youtu.be/CdnSHBUaocM?si=47WuxJj6twpfVZgS&t=609) is like some Three Stooges shit. Legitimately hilarious.
I had to unsub from this sub for a while due to the unhinged Ronda dickriding that was happening before this fight. It wasn't just chodes like Rogan. A large chunk of the fanbase had completely lost the plot.
Bad mouth guard, fell down the stairs a week prior, sun was in her eyes, her dog stepped on a bee. There was some external reason why Nunes beat her, therefore she’s still the greatest fighter ever.
Nunes never showing her striking respect and just walking her down with her hands at her waist firing off boxing combinations was glorious.
People bought the Ronda can strike hypetrain because she knocked out a very talentless and athletically lacking Bethe Corriera
I do think the amount of hate people have for Rhonda is insane, but her striking looks insane how bad it was. She genuinely throws like she has a disability.
Guys, in a week from now Drowsey will say “I fell down 30 flights of stairs the day before the fight, I was not at 100% when I stepped into the octagon”…
Ronda fights like she doesn't know how to stand
Lmao. The bouncing
Chill dude result of falling down stairs…
I like how this B forgot she was great on the ground and garbage on her feet and then goes on to throw hands back to back.
And how irresponsible would that have been. You just fell down the stairs bad enough to get a concussion and your team puts you in the ring? How about things that never happened for $10.
The CTE step
She was concussed bro.
She was after. Got a fool proof excuse for her comeback.
She was definitely concussed after this fight. That’s for sure…
After you seperate in judo, judokas tend to bounce a bit. To restart
Yeah they shouldn't do that in the Octagon lol
I guess when you're concussed your habits kick in lol
I wish herb let it go on a bit longer lol
It should constitute a crime against humanity that the UFC didn’t have Mario Yamasaki officiate this fight
The right hook she throws after getting popped is so bad
Looks like somebody literally grabbed her hand and threw it for her
She fights like she trying to reach for something on the top shelf and it’s about to fall and hit her head
That’s accurate af.

What you are talking about depends on the punch you are throwing. The reason you get one punch knockouts from Suga, Izzy, venom, holland, etc etc etc is not shoulder mass.
That's why you copy Bas Rutten and start punching with you palms.
Yes. Power starts at the feet.

Guess you could say it is a few or not. Also, counterpoint, good lord there are a lot of men who can't translate their bulk into a punch.
She will tell us she bump her toe during the week therefore she was concussed before fighting and that's why she lost
She said that she’s “the greatest fighter that has ever lived,” like none of us have eyes.
Just because dana and bruce said that while double teaming you backstage doesn't mean its true
She said she fell down the stairs before holmes, I bet it was old Travis Browne
And that her shirt wasn't the right color
And that she had the crappy Mad Catz controller.
😂
Yea don't you remember. She has less fluid around her big toe caused her to be off balance the whole 15 sec fight
She’s lucky Herb Dean didn’t let Nunes knock her out cold. Saved her while she was still on the feet.
If that happened I’m not sure if she even would be in the WWE. Too traumatizing to step into a ring.
The herb deen REALLY shouldn't have jumped in so soon
Ufc marketed this as the return of rousey. Not promoting nunes as good as she was. Rousey was the catalyst for the UFCs wmma. If Rhonda were to fight now I don’t think she would be ranked without help from Dana.

That’s when zingano roared. Shit was primal
That is an interesting take. Gonna think about it.
It seems like the consensus was always that rousey lost this fight by staying on her feet and boxing instead of using her ground game
Nah. She still has an insanely expensive contract. They would still put her in the title picture just because they have to pay her so much money. She come back and be 1 win or less from a title shot.
Would have been a murder if Yamasaki was the ref
Early stoppage. Let hellfire rain. Clearly Ronda believes she’s the best. Herb robbed her that opportunity
TBH he should have let Nunes completely decimate her and stood by like Steve Mazzagatti
How hard did she suck dana to not have to do any pre or post fight interviews after her losses?
She was still out. Herb stopped it and she reset to her corner like the fight was about to be restarted.
Not enough head movement
The only head movement was when Amanda’s fist connected with her head
Her head went back like Mr.T in Rocky 3
Ed moovementt
I don’t know what rousey is thinking, even at the time people where telling her to get a different trainer, he’s not helping you develop, you can’t strike! Why the bs excuses? Holly out classed her as did Nunez as we all expected because Rousey can not strike
![gif](giphy|5h7sfN5OowexjKTeFX|downsized)
God, she looks so stupid lol
Reminds me of the little girl in that viral video that is beating up a plantain tree thinking she is badass.
It's the flaring up of the elbows on every straight punch for me. Like 101-level mistakes
I missed this SNL episode. Which season was it?
Fame got to her head and all the grifters wanted a piece of her and she let a bunch of scrubs tell her she was an amazing striker and she believed it.
Joe rogan was one of em
I’m happy when joe is wrong. I’m happy a lot
He cried cuz she was so amazing to him lol
Came here to ask this. Cannot for the life of me rationalize why she didn't learn at least some technical striking, whether it's boxing, Muay Thai, or kickboxing. Ideally all three. It's gotta be some combination of delusion, obstinacy, and subpar coaching.

Yep she tried to hip toss Holly holms but she powered out of it and when she tried to grab Amanda she was instantly shoved off
Disagree that she was the best grappler in her division. Amanda would have ground and pound her in the same fashion and so would have the top 10 of the division, Women’s MMA accelerated at in insane rate. Aka, everyone else got real fight camps and training.
Same thing happened in men’s MMA years before that. Mir talked about how fighting for UFC in the early years was a part time gig and nobody was practicing their craft as a full time job.
Delusion.
I guess some people find it easier lying to themselves rather than face an inconvenient truth.
I’ve seen more competitive fights on World Star
Children can strike and box better.
The crazy thing is Nunes was the underdog in this fight. Even crazier, she was also the underdog against Miesha Tate.
I miss the fight comps 😞 now worldstar is a bunch of onlyfans promos and celebrity gossip
Wish nunes didn't retire considering how awful wmma striking looks these days.
Which is why I appreciate female fighters like valentina and weili
CLEEEEEENNNNNCH
HEAD MOMMMENT
In all fairness maybe she thought she was moving her head but was really just dizzy from all those knuckle sandwiches she ate
Doesn't help that wmma is just... not that good. Amanda was an amazing fighter for sure, but the rest of the competition just wasn't up to standarts.
She was probably still concussed from that head kick
She's probably still concussed from this fight.
If I didn’t know better I’d think this was just a clip of the fight, but this is basically the entire fight save for a couple of punches. Nunes literally made her into a heavy bag and the ref had to step in in like 40 seconds
I don't know how the hell she didn't get dropped! She took some bombs.
She would've went down if it wasn't for the cage but she was definitly out on the feet
She had no business being in a ring with Amanda
Amanda just walked her down with zero fear of anything coming back
That wasnt the real Ronda. She was concussed still from the Holly fight and didnt have a good weight cut.
She also had a bad mouth piece for this fight or she would've won
And it was raining outside too
Hit her so fucking hard she ended up thinking she was Roddy Piper for a decade.
I miss Amanda…
It was like watching an adult beat a bratty child. It was glorious.
“I know I’m the greatest fighter that ever lived”
23 punches to the face in 48 seconds
Beat. Down.
She was surgical with those punches
Been watching ufc since vhs at blockbuster. Holm and Nunes destroying Rhonda are still my top two favourite fights
Still watch this and laugh
It's ... It's beautiful
Hard to feel bad once you hear her open her mouth. Insufferable
Rousey was a joke. Zero striking skill.
We were so spoiled by Nunes. Women’s MMA ain’t the same without her.
Rhonda standing with Nunes is fucking hysterical. No lesson learned.
HEAD MOVEMENT
One of the dirtiest beat downs oat. Especially when Ronda was still considered a "great" fighter, master class
Was she concussed going into this one too? 😂
I love how Amanda was so confident she didn’t have her guard up and just walked her down throwing Bombs
And barely missed a shot.
There's something so badass about what Amanda does about halfway through this video after the 4 piece. She knows Ronda is hurt, and almost has to slow herself down to not walk into something. I see fighters do this a lot when a opponent is hurt, and it's gotta be the coolest feeling
Boxing coach should be ashamed
Cte from too much head movement
I remember paying my tabs at the bar before the walk outs and telling my wife to get ready to leave because this was gonna be quick
Spanish announcers are so much funnier on this fight
Amanda had no respect for anything Ronda could do to her. Just walked her down and beat the fuck out of her. Just shrugged off Ronda’s discombobulated attempt at a clinch.
She has the saddest stand-up game. She has mournful stand-up. It's like two suicide notes stuffed in a pair of MMA gloves. Her stand-up is like a kid with progeria cracking his ribs trying to catch a nerf ball sad ...
What's up with her footwork? Lmao just hopping around on both feet.
It wasn’t her fault she still had that same mouth piece.
Ronda looked like she had never fought in her life.
https://preview.redd.it/b27hpd39ecsc1.jpeg?width=172&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=502b1ac82e434ef598395b91384b05b684d6fae5
This one is brutal However Holms was just humiliation
[This bit especially](https://youtu.be/CdnSHBUaocM?si=47WuxJj6twpfVZgS&t=609) is like some Three Stooges shit. Legitimately hilarious. I had to unsub from this sub for a while due to the unhinged Ronda dickriding that was happening before this fight. It wasn't just chodes like Rogan. A large chunk of the fanbase had completely lost the plot.
She needed a baby Ruth after that one.
The biggest mismatch I've probably ever seen. Ronda had no business in the cage with Amanda
Putting Ronda against Nunes was such a missmatch lmao. The definition of "you vs the woman she tells you not to worry abt" meme.
Always loved the “Rousey could beat a man” bullshit…. Look what happened here when she fought one.
Nunes annihilates everyone she fights
she wasnt there her toothbrush broke, and her mom would not reply to her Facebook Post
I have always been happy that Ronda actually believed she had a solid stand up game.
Whats her excuse for this beat down? She was always a "one trick pony". Claims to have a stand up game......this clip says otherwise.
This looked like such an uneven matchup.
Bad mouth guard, fell down the stairs a week prior, sun was in her eyes, her dog stepped on a bee. There was some external reason why Nunes beat her, therefore she’s still the greatest fighter ever.
Pity the fool that convinced Ronda she could strike, lmao
Ronda looked like someone trying to figure out the controls of their character
Can’t believe she’s now whining about getting concussed from a Stephanie McMahon slap. I’m genuinely not sure if she ever recovered from this fight.
WMMA evolved very quickly from Rousey to Nunes (at time of champion). It was like going from Royce Gracie to GSP over a couple of years
Edmond had her believing she could box.
Nunes is an animal, I bet she could handle even some male in MMA
First few punches concussed Rousey though so the rest of the fight doesn’t really count.
Great times
Amanda Núñez hitting a punching bag? I don’t get it
Nunes is the true female GOAT
I just rewatched this yesterday too lol For a bonus, peep her shadow boxing clips 😭
Ur supposed to block punches with your arms not face
Why didn't she shoot?
she went in there thinking she had superior striking LOL I remember something like "fear the return" or some shit 🤣
Nunes never showing her striking respect and just walking her down with her hands at her waist firing off boxing combinations was glorious. People bought the Ronda can strike hypetrain because she knocked out a very talentless and athletically lacking Bethe Corriera
"EED MOOMENT!"
If she would have moved her head she would still be champion.
That’s the goat in her prime.
I wonder how many flights of stairs she fell down before this fight that would explain why she wasn’t competitive at all
She wasnt there cognitively
How come nobody can ever spell "Holm" correctly?
Well she had fallen down stairs and see the liquid to her brain was cut off from a weight cut 😂 so totally would KO’d if it wasn’t for damn stairs
Sun was in her eyes.
Herb saved her damn life lol
Man herb should have let her fall on her own, we needed it!
Amanda was so disrespected in the promotion leading up to the fight , "SHE'S BACK!" 🤣 Rhonda came back alright
Ronda’s strategy is to block punches with her face then complain later
But... she was concussed!
I do think the amount of hate people have for Rhonda is insane, but her striking looks insane how bad it was. She genuinely throws like she has a disability.
She’s so pathetic only was a champ because she got in when the division was at its weakest.
Guys relax, she was also concussed and menstruating
not fair, she was still suffering concussion during this fight smh
then what she did to Cyborg
Ronda lost to a dude so there’s that.
That what you call “zero respect”. Literally chasing her and swinging like she’s a punching bag.
She just got knocked out. We should give her a confidence building fight. “Ok listen there’s this woman named Amanda nunes she just an up and comer”
Amanda was just on a whole another level compared to Rhonda
*Compared to every women fighter on the planet.
Guys, in a week from now Drowsey will say “I fell down 30 flights of stairs the day before the fight, I was not at 100% when I stepped into the octagon”…
Love or hate Ronda, she was great for the UFC. Her arm bar finishes were all awesome.
Yeah but never forget she would’ve been able to beat Mayweather in boxing
She’s was just trying stand up! Kkkk
Ronda should never have taken this fight.
Remember Rogan being brought to tears when speaking about how dominant she was.
Joe Rogan the idiot: Ronda could beat 50% of the bantamweight men in the UFC.
People don’t know she concussed herself that week falling down the stairs escalator
Ronda was hired for looks, not skill.
Someone needs a new mouth guard, I see.
Hey for all we know she had a flight out of Colorado a week earlier and was suffering from altitude sickness.
Shoe took it like a shit brickhouse
Those last two shots are brutal man, lmao. You know Rousey had never been hit like that in her life.
Early stoppage. Ronda was blocking those punches masterfully with her face.
"Head movement" "head movement" "head movement
What always gets me is the way she was hopping the whole time 🙆♂️
Head moooomement!!!
Dog walked her to into the WWE Arena 😭🤧
Her coach saying she is an elite striker lol
Why is she so stiff? It's like blue is stuck with her chin out.
The mouthpiece she says
The moron trainer had her believe she could box and that she was great at it. "HEAD MOVEMENT!!!"
“I got concussed by the music heading to the ring” —Ronda Rousey
She was concussed during every loss / failure in her life.
