OP has the mods' permission to post this.

tallalittlebit

Hi Reddit, Another difficult post for me to make but an important one. The mods have given me permission to post this fundraiser but please note it is not through [sp4ukraine.org](https://sp4ukraine.org) or [protectavolunteer.com](https://protectavolunteer.com) which are the organizations they have verified. However, I have verified this fundraiser myself and am 100% sure it is real and going to Grady's family. Grady was a Marine veteran who fought in Ukraine. He was killed almost a year ago, in April 2022. I know that for a long time he was listed as missing in action. Unfortunately I can confirm that he is dead. I can't say much more than that about this situation. Grady's family needs help with funeral expenses and this fundraiser is set up to help with that. I did not know Grady personally. But I do know many of the men who fought with him in Ukraine. Grady could lead men who couldn't be led. He was the father figure for men who didn't have fathers. I know what he meant to the people who fought with him and he meant the world. This is the [link.](https://www.gofundme.com/f/captain-grady-kurpasi-usmc-retired?member=26151859&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_content=undefined&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer&utm_term=undefined) I will do my best to answer questions on this if you have them but please understand that on this particular topic there will be some things I cannot answer.

Wumaduce

Donation made. I wish I had more to donate.

PhotonDabbler

Step up, folks. We can all skip a lunch or drink coke instead of a few beers and put the money instead to this worthy cause. I can't even imagine giving your LIFE to help people who have been wronged and are desperate. We just need to help with some money. This guy gave his life. Step up, folks.

clothespinkingpin

Yep, you’re right. I just donated.

SnooSprouts4376

Thanks for posting this. Keep up the good work. Money donated.

No they are not giving out any direct contact information.

Donated. Bring him home, help his family. I was not planning on donating this month because of taxes, taxes, and more taxes. But, this was too worthy for me, I had to donate.

I will donate to Ukraine defense funds in his honor.

huhzonked

What an amazing man. The world is a darker place without him.

pumpkin20222002

Sad. I did a lot of internet searches, nothing popped up about him October, any news on when or how he was identified?

tallalittlebit

I will leave that up to the family to make public.

1-2-ManyTimes

Donation made.Condolences to his family.

Downright_Observnt

Op, you should check with the mods on /USMC to see if you can post this there. It is an amazing community.

tallalittlebit

So they have a rule of no outside fundraisers but one thing I will say is that I've checked with ALL the military/veteran subreddits about posting what we do to help veterans. All of the mods were complete jerks to me except the r/usmc ones who were very nice despite me not being a Marine and when I have posted there on other things everyone has been nice to me.

JohnDodong

Donated. May his family find comfort in the knowledge that he helped an oppressed people stay free. RIP

Just-jephph

Done

PinguPST

This method charges 15% to make a donation. I donate a lot, and I was going to donate to this, but I've never seen a 15% donation fee before. If I use my CC, that means I'm charged 18%.

sonicboomer46

That's a "recommended donation" to GoFundMe. It's easy to slide the amount all the way to the left to 0. It can't withhold your amount to the fundraiser' recipient; but, it's notoriously slow in disbursing funds to the recipient (making money on those donations) so don't feel as if you have to add to their money-making schemes.

PinguPST

I actually tried to do that, and it didn't work. Oh well

sonicboomer46

Oh, strange. Always works for me. I only use a desktop and PayPal though; maybe it's different if you happen to be using a phone app or direct bank card?

PinguPST

It worked on second trial; I just never used it before. I'll go back

Dugoutcanoe1945

Donated. Fair winds and following seas, Marine. Semper Fidelis!

Playcrackersthesky

Til Valhalla, brother. Thank you for posting this and raising awareness for Grady.

[deleted]

RIP; donation made!

That final smile has a large 'Harley Quinn' vibe.
