More than half of citizens left, I work from home (IT), there was some trouble with internet and card transactions, as well as big shortage of cash, but for last 3 weeks or so there are a few stores that take cards (from Ukrainian banks), so it's bearable now in terms of food and stuff, well in my experience, but generally people who got their salaries in cash are struggling.
Generally it's not too much fun being here of course, next to daily sounds of distant explosions, I imagine almost everyone lost someone they knew in some degree, to the abductions and murders, mines too, later especially in the surrounding villages. 2 people for me, not someone super close though, thankfully.
I personally didn't get out of the house at all for the past few month now, just for supplies pretty much, but people are up and about, it's not like a ghost town or anything.
Pretty bad with medicine, or so I heard, don't really need anything. But I did have a hard time finding a medicine for my cat, and it did cost like triple the price it did before.
But yeah waiting for the counter offensive, hope it comes soon, I feel like if it's not coming before autumn that will be terrible, probably will try to leave.
Thank you, what we really need though is politicians finding their balls and get us the weapons we ask for, no offence. The because if it continues like right now, it's not looking good.
A large part of it is because we got to keep nudging Ukraine's closest allies in the UK, Europe and Britain. Even though we got some of the best armaments, there's this illusion it can be lightning speed. It would be entirely faster if allies transparently discussed the best armaments among themselves in the UK to speed up the timeline based on geographical reasons.
We can keep sending supplies via C-17 III's across the Atlantic and Ship Transport all we want but it doesn't mean abandoning domestic securities and demands either. Russia knows this was a shakeup on supply chains and armaments are not infinite as we'd like to imagine. That's why the buffering of NATO, European defense, and Ukraine's demands are largely dispersed to strategic needs as effective as they can be.
There's a ton of logistics that come into play and while it can be extremely complex, there's still more UK and Europe could be doing for Ukraine. I'll admit they are warming up, but they still need to be nudged a bit more.
I agree. 3 MLRS at a time in a C17 is about the slowest way imaginable to raise an army. Europe has ignored defense for decades and simply doesn't have much to give. My armchair general hat tells me we are holding back until a large scale counteroffensive is ready. Im talking millions of Ukrainians have completed training and all supplies are in place. It sucks because people are dying everyday, but I think we are at the equivalent stage of 1943 in WW2, everyone knew we were staging in Britain but it took a year of preparation to make sure things went well. My best guess is that the strategy is to bleed Russia slowly dry and launch the counter offensive in the winter when Russia's morale is at the lowest and UA is well equipped.
I did also forget to add the training on equipment also. That takes weeks as most of us know with publicly available information.
Anyways, yes. I agree. There is without a doubt precedence of and similarities to 1943 here. Much of it being due to political divides, strategic lethargy, a projected rise of extreme militarism, increased nuclear arms, and a changing landscape with powers rethinking their strategic renewables and fossil fuels, and global warming rising posing a severe and immediate threat in the next 50 years to underdeveloped nations. These immediate shifts in many different aspects of powers are what's causing these.
There's not much intelligence when, it could be any season within the next three-five years and may not even be in Ukraine. But it's not a matter of maybe, it's almost definite that NATO will be involved. This especially the case with the highlighted causes above.
I will say if Ukraine wins (which I'm confident will), Then the odds greatly increase in being able to restructure allied focus, domestic defenses, rethink supply chains and be as versatile economically across the Trans-Atlantic sphere of allies. This would also help to keep the stability of global humanitarian and economic obligations going. There are future threats on the horizon besides Russia atm.
p.s. To quote Former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis "We are watching Russia wither before our eyes."
I hope counter-offensive comes soon! Be strong.
Is it possible to say how much of people who didn’t leave is pro-russian/pro-ukrainian in avarage? Talking about Kherson obl.
Someone I went to wrestling class with was found hanged in his flat, with signs of sexual torture. He was police.
My somewhat far relative got blown up on a mine on a coast of Black Sea (kind of his fault).
Hi, I hope you use a good VPN all the time. Also setup bat file to quickly remove and deinstall VPN and history cleanup for case of unexpected visit. Use 2 browsers - one for stupid surfing without anything political, other for other uses, less popular browser is better,, also to be removed and cleaned up in case of visitors, test removal several times beforehand, it must work less than a minute.
Have removal bat program somewhere deep in folders, shortcut on desktop. Shortcut can be removed while program is running. Name removal bat in such a way that it looks like related to gaming, like steam related or something.
Trust me, computer checking by orks can go this far.
Edit: Sure, reddit browsing must be deleted :D
I know for a fact their software does not check for words in english. I appreciate the advice but you are overestimating them.
Seriously, we need to stop this narrative with russians being this top of the world superpower that has all the angles covered. They are just a bunch of fucking mentally deficient degenerates masquerading as a functioning country.
I am sitting here, a registered gun owner and my stepfather is ex military, I am not in my official residence now, but no one even visited that. So far I just removed my sim card from the phone, pretty much. Well and of course if I google something risque I turn on VPN. And this is not the first time I am writing this on reddit.
For real, if you are carefull to a logical degree, you are fine.
What's the count so far?
With these dipshits constantly returning to the same place and the Ukrainians stomping them again and again, it feels like we're approaching triple digits.
> I’m living in the future. 🛸
Cool, tell the aliens thanks for taking care of that Putin problem for us, and in gratitude they are welcome to keep Elvis afterall.
There's a cool little cartoon & song about Chornobaivka:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MJ_bD3rgqU&list=PLxnhY8HQmMc5YACfb3d4PKJpV58srNAI-&index=49
Text translation from Russian:
- What is it? A head?! 😮
- All's according to plan, no losses!
- Forward! 👉🏻
- What the fuck is going on?!
- Planned sinking of ship!
🌊🔥🚢🌊
- What the fuck!?
- Forward! 👉🏻
Sign "Welcome to Chornobaivka"
- Great. Here we are.
- Where?
- In a safe place. (Head rolls)
I couldn't find the words or translation of the song (I don't speak Ukranian, even though it has many similar words with Russian). Something like "Good night, sleep tight - sleep forever in Chornobaivka". 🙂
Think it's time for Russia to start building a next iron curtain...all Russians living in a prison is much safer and more relaxed for the world.
Unfortunately for the smart and peacefull Russians but Russia is big enough so hope they can create somewhere a free zone and from there retake Russia one day and maybe than borders can be reopened.
What I do not really understand is why Russia always want to make the West as an enemy...like if the Russians have Chinese or North Koreanen blood lines...and that there is some hidden anger in their blood against the West.
Everything Russian is an artifact from a previous century. Military hardware, doctrine, and strategies are little more than applying the same incompetent war of attrition as Stalin.
Therefore, anything Russian is to be referred to as an ***Iron-Oxide Curtain***.
Rust.
at what point does anyone in russian leadership realize,
"We have put new helicopters, resources, and manpower into this airport that has been attacked 22 times. We are that close to the frontlines that the freshly delivered US made M777 is very well in range of us and pre-sighted for our locations. Perhaps we should maybe move to a new airport.."
russian leadership fucked itself.

Eh maybe stupid question but why exactly are the most likely hypotheses not discussed, that another russian ammo and fuel dump was destroyed by himars, tochka, bayraktar or partisans/special forces?
I'm gonna go an a stretch here:
Didn't Arestovych just claim that Russians bombed their own troops?
Could it be scorched earth tactics? Are Russians bombing their occupied areas to deny use for Ukraine?
The airbase is quite valuable and holds a lot of fuel and munitions, so it would make sense to destroy it before leaving.
Or does Arestovych literally mean bombing them as in friendly fire?
You don't use artillery to deny resources to an attacking force.
a) the ammo cost, b) the accuracy and c) the ease.
Just a bit of explosive at the right place and all done.
Friendly fire happens in every war.
The only unusual part is reports of literal fighting between units of RF
I don't know if you are familiar with the saying "If it quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck it is probably a duck."?
If it slaughters like an orc and rends its fellows like an orc....
Okay, I didn't think it was artillery, I thought it could have been precision strikes from aircraft. Nvm.
The best would be, of course, to withdraw with ammo and fuel, but yeah, placing some charges is indeed way cheaper and easier to do, I agree.
Not to open rebellion but there has been famous incidents (eg a commander run over by a tank) and :
[https://thedebrief.org/russian-buryat-soldiers-get-in-a-shootout-with-each-other/](https://thedebrief.org/russian-buryat-soldiers-get-in-a-shootout-with-each-other/)
But intercepted conversations keep mentioning arguments eg :[https://youtu.be/eSdg3gKHaDQ](https://youtu.be/eSdg3gKHaDQ)
The main takeaway isn't a fermenting rebellion but that morale is stunningly low in some units.
A donkey never stumbles twice on the same rock.
Orcs aren't donkeys and it's good.
More permanent ruzzian soldiers in the region... there, there and \*coughs coughs\* here.
According to the ISW map of July 1, Ukrainian forces have made advances towards Xerson that might put the city and its surroundings within artillery range.
There was a spider in a warehouse and the Orcs decided to eliminate it for the "goodwill of Ukrainians"

Ooofff, that's a big one. Indeed there were rumours that it was hit again late yesterday.
I'm from Kherson, this was today in the morning https://imgur.com/a/5zWdhr3
How is it in Kherson now? What people think? Waiting for Ukrainian army? What is situation with food, medicine, work?

No offense taken. We Americans have been waiting for politicians to find their balls for decades.
Biden doing well with lend lease and NATO is doing OK. Good unity. Jets and more long range weapons and ammo is needed.

Stop waiting bro. They're not going to find them on their own. They need clear help.
