You'll probably want closer to 2 hours for the baths. Do yourself a real favour and book into Sally Lunns. It's not far from the baths. https://www.sallylunns.co.uk/

The_Crack_Fox_1

I second Sally Lunn’s Also, when at the baths, there is a water fountain where you can drink the bath water (it’s filtered and treated so it’s safe). If your travelling with others, make sure you encourage the other members of your party to have a cup full, really big up how wonderful it is and good for your health etc. the look on their face when they drink it will be priceless, it’s disgusting

MidnightSuspicious71

It's got a definite tang to it!

erin_mcmahon

What time would you recommend visiting Sally lunns for afternoon tea? Can't seem to make Amy reservations but just to show up

SCOIJ

Depends on the day really, sometimes you can just walk right in, sometimes it's gonna be a wait, longest I've waited is 20 minutes so it's not terrible

erin_mcmahon

I was looking at this! Possibly for the morning tea or tje afternoon tea. Do you think that's better than the pump room. Thinking maybe even try both?

SCOIJ

The pump rooms, while nice, is just pretty standard what you would expect from an afternoon tea. Sally Lunns is very unique and I would recommend it to anyone who is only in Bath infrequently

erin_mcmahon

Oo ok I think I'll do the Baths in the early morning and sally lunn in the afternoon then! Might be nice. Find a small lunch in between these two things or go to the Jane Austen centre in between

If you want to take in all the information I would say an hour is too quick. I'm not one to read everything when I go to something like this but I ended up doing it at the baths as it's such an interesting experience. 2 -3 hours is more likely. You can pretty much fit Wells and Glastonbury into the same day, they're only 15 minutes apart and although they're both interesting in different ways there's not all that much to do in either of them. If I had to pick one it would be Wells because I like Hot Fuzz and visiting cathedrals.

erin_mcmahon

Oo ok good to know thank you. Is there another spot for a day tour from Baths that a must or 2 full days in bath + day trip to these two towns is the best overall?

No_Witness9533

Take the train into Bristol and spend some time there if you run out of things to do in Bath, it's very close.

erin_mcmahon

Omg didn't even realise its where they filmed hot fuzz! That would be cool. I'll see if I can do both as I also love the look of glastonbury and king Arthur lore etc

The Roman Baths are an absolute must . Avoid at all costs the morning and afternoon teas. Overpriced, inadequate, boring and stale ( A prior poster mentioned Sally Lunns. A very good call - overlook the odd few unswept crumbs )

erin_mcmahon

Ok noted after reading a few comments i think I might do the Baths early morning and sally lunn afternoon tea or even morning then Jane Austen centre in the afternoon. Second day day trip Third day more look around, cafes, abbey and anything else I've missed! Is there anymore recs in Bath that I must checkout?

doogster1963

If you like Bridgerton there's a few locations worth checking out - what's now the Abbey Deli, a couple of minutes from the Roman Baths was a shop in the show, lots more info on Bath landmarks in the show here: [https://visitbath.co.uk/blog/read/2024/05/baths-starring-role-in-bridgerton-b86](https://visitbath.co.uk/blog/read/2024/05/baths-starring-role-in-bridgerton-b86) Enjoy!

erin_mcmahon

Thank you so much for this! I'll definitely check this out and hopefully plan a little walk around all tje locations ☺️

The_Crack_Fox_1

Personally, I’d recommend Stourhead over Wells or Glastonbury I’d certainly try fit it in if you can

sjw_7

The Baths are really interesting but I would definitely give it a couple of hours. You can 'take the waters' at the Baths and its perfectly safe to do so. It tastes and smells bloody awful though so be prepared.

erin_mcmahon

Just booked a 9am slot for the Baths. Thank you for that warning I'll mentally prepare haha. Thinking to do Afternoon tea at Sally Lunns alongside Jane austen centre that same day but leave the morning to be just the Baths and walking around to give me time

herefromthere

You've mentioned morning tea and afternoon tea - just so you know, "Afternoon tea" is a thing (morning tea is not - tea is an anytime beverage). Afternoon tea is a deceptively large meal often served on a tiered cake stand, consisting of a selection of finger sandwiches, pastries, cakes and often served with both tea and an alcoholic beverage.

blodblodblod

There's a Mulberry outlet in Shepton Mallet (between Bath and Glastonbury) if you fancied a new bag.

LopsidedVictory7448

I'm not sure that's still going

Zealousideal-Virus26

Was just there. Yes, first slot is good on the e weekend. We did that, spent about 1.5 hours, and walked directly to the abbey. Great visit. Check out The Raven for a great pub dinner.
