Coop is not the end all be all. Sure it’s a decent program but only 30% of students do it. You’re already in asper you’re in a better spot than most. Reflect on what you might’ve done wrong in your interviews/resume and go out and look for a summer internship outside of coop.

As an Asper student, you can still attend resume and interview workshops held by the CDC (just register on simplicity) if you want to improve in these areas. I know a lot of people who were able to get business-related jobs over the summer, and who were better off because they saved money from not paying the co-op fees. I recommend signing up for the stag group related to your major and attending their wine and cheese event to network. I also recommend checking simplicity and indeed for job listings and applying to a TON of jobs. After you get your first, it will be easier to either continue at that workplace or apply somewhere else. I have also heard of people getting into the co-op program who have more than the desired number of credit hours. It would be worth contacting the CDC and asking if it would be possible to apply next year. Make sure you are extremely polite and stress how important the co-op program is to you. They may still say no, but it's worth a shot. Good luck! Truly, I know a ton of people who never did co-op and are working great jobs in their chosen field. This will likely not make a huge difference in the trajectory of your life, so don't worry too much!

Find a job outside of co-op. I'm not in Asper but I'm in the exact same situation. All the summer jobs I've gotten, I got without co-op's help, so you can still find some companies that will hire you despite you not being in the program.

Don't they tell why your application got rejected? I'm a first-year so don't know about co-op. Best of luck for future though

Contact companies in your specialty and get your own intern ship. Never did coop because I got a summer job doing actuarial before I even got into Asper (did U1 first) Even if they don’t say that they’re hiring, an email doesn’t hurt.
