[The foreskin was put there to provide protection against injury and disease.](https://en.intactiwiki.org/wiki/Immunological_and_protective_function_of_the_foreskin) The natural moisture under the foreskin has some protective substances. [Balanitis has numerous causes, so one must have an accurate diagnosis of the cause before a suitable treatment can be chosen.](https://en.intactiwiki.org/wiki/Balanitis) Excessive washing and the use of soap can cause dermatitis that may be mistaken for balanitis. [Soap should not be used in the preputial sac and excessive washing should be avoided.](https://en.intactiwiki.org/wiki/Preputial_sac#Washing)

The soap helped clear blotchiness up, previously I just used water

If you have a chance listen to the podcast linked below. He spends a good 30 minutes on how to approach recurrent balanitis. As a fellow health care worker I think its excellent and very thorough: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2upPZlRDFHcghxp16wUMMM?si=H5oCExBGQ_KwATqtfF78Yg

Try terrasil balanitis relief cream and a calendula cleansing bar. Can get both on Amazon. If it’s a daily pain, you may consider adult circumcision. My grandfather had to go that because he rode a horse most his life and that combined with balanitis was unbearable.

The thing is there’s never ever any pain (except for the very rare times with the foreskin flares up, tightens and can tear - however this is easily avoided if I just don’t have sex or masturbate and wait a few days for it to go back to normal). It’s really just a visual thing, I know it doesn’t look normal

I have the same thing this started a year ago I just want to get rid of it and I don’t want to get circumcision
