Crisis Responders are GS-11 positions. I work for the organization, but not that position. It is tough work, for certain, but also rewarding, most truly love what they do. Keep in mind also that we are 24/7, so you can potentially work ANY shift, and must be prepared to do so. There is the classroom training (I think it is 6 weeks), and then you take calls with a trainer until they clear you to work independently. How long this takes varies by person.
Sorry I’m confused by what “tours” mean. I was hoping for specific hours, I’m interested in overnight hours, So do you have examples of what that may look like for 8, 9, and or 10 hour shifts?
I applied I’m March 22 got an interview on 6 21 22 they called my references on the 23rd got the job offer on June 15 and starting in August or September 2022.. super excited!!
No. After orientation you are given a training tour. Once fully trained, you will bid on the
shifts that are available. Once your shift is awarded, that is what you will work. Bids are done yearly (typically). You can then keep what you have, or bid on a new one.
Orientation and initial training is 6 or 8 weeks (I think), depending on your position. You take a test and then go to the phones. You will listen, and then start taking calls yourself, with a seasoned employee listening in. Those shifts are randomized and could be any shift, as it's a 24/7 operation. Once cleared to work independently, you will bid on a permanent tour. What you bid on depends where the need lies.
Thank you so much! Last question.. what do you like most about the position and what do you dislike?
I’m just eager to start 🙏🏾 praying I get the call. Looking forward.
I don't take calls. But as a culture...love working from home. Also, they are big on self-care, especially with the Responders. Those folks get a crap ton of OT, so there's that LOL
Hello there Ayitiboy I believe we applied for the job at the same time. I didn't get selected tho. I just applied again tho. How are you liking it so far?
Do you mind me asking, has your salary increased much more? thank you! Do you like the job? Can you tell me more about your schedule? Thank you, sorry for so many questions. Best Regards!
I'm just keeping my faith up and continuing to apply. It took a minute based on some other people post. So maybe it will be the same for us. Best wishes!
No other than it’s a call center type schedule so 24/7 nights and weekends so the hours will vary. I choose not to pursue it. However good luck to you guys.

Thanks for the info. I interviewed 2 weeks ago and waiting to hear about next steps. Are the shifts 8 or 12 hr shifts? Thank you
We have various schedules. There 8 hour shifts, 9 hour shifts that will have 1 8 hour day per pay period, and 10 hour shifts.
Oh not bad. I'm excited and hope to hear something from HR soon. Thanks for your response.
Best of luck!
What are the hours?
We have around 30 tours I think.

Tours of duty ie shifts. Overnights can be 1a-930a, 9p-730a, 11p-730a, 8p-630a, 930p-8a, and others.
Very helpful! Thank you

Oh okay I’ve been checking website daily. I applied 4/12 so hoping to hear back soon. But thanks now I know I may receive just a call. Good luck !!
No problem. Best wishes to you also!
Thank you very much for the insight.
For clarity, are you saying that one’s shift would change randomly? Like, does the shifts change weekly?
No. After orientation you are given a training tour. Once fully trained, you will bid on the shifts that are available. Once your shift is awarded, that is what you will work. Bids are done yearly (typically). You can then keep what you have, or bid on a new one.
Hi what is the typical orientation hours? As well has the training hours?

Thanks for this info! Is the orientation and training at a physical location? Or virtual?
We all remote, so you will work from home. I believe they use WebEx.
Can’t wait! Thanks for all this info ♥️
How likely will they accept my negotiation of bringing me in higher than Step 1?
I wouldn't count on it. But you can ask, the worst they will say is no.
They told me no
They told me no too. I didn’t take the job.
I was going to do that as well but then I thought I would use this as a tool to get further into the government at a higher level .
How’s it going?
Well I just received an offer this month . Plan on starting 2/12
Hoping for the best . Good luck to you aswell
Thanks! Good luck to you!
Hello there Ayitiboy I believe we applied for the job at the same time. I didn't get selected tho. I just applied again tho. How are you liking it so far?
What will your hours be? Do they give you an option of 8s, 10s or 12s?
Sorry for so many questions. I have just applied. I am hoping to get the job. How is the vacations time? I am so eager to hear your schedule! TY!
How much is step 1?
From the tentative offer “GS-11 Step 1 makes $66,214 in that locality area.” That was July 2022.
Do you mind me asking, has your salary increased much more? thank you! Do you like the job? Can you tell me more about your schedule? Thank you, sorry for so many questions. Best Regards!
