Ugh this is such a whole scam trend: "this dog is going to be euthanized. Donate so we can give him 7 more days to be adopted." Like it's fucked how they're doing this and some are legit shelters.
Next to this there is some trend of: my cat has blah blah blah and it needs surgery. And you know they're abusing the cats to get views and pity and donations. Accounts with 3 videos always reposting them and then they disappear.
Tiktok mostly is just non-stop ads and money scams
If they work with actual shelters directly, it's not a scam. When donating, always make sure it is through a reputable shelter.
Rescues are extremely over packed right now. This isn't the fault of rescues and their volunteers. This is the fault of shitty owners and breeders.
It's networking volunteers pointing out the reality of the situation. Without donations, adoptions, or fosters, they will die. That's just a fact. Pointing that out isn't scummy. The situation IS that dire.
Burying your head in the sand and acting like it's the rescues and volunteers who are the ones in the wrong for making you feel bad seems more scummy to me.
Besides shitty owners, just don't donate to kill shelters period. The only people that care about the animals there are the employees and volunteers.
The owners all live in big ass houses but you never see them there. They're run like a business, or basically a cheap puppymill: quick turnover aka quick euthanasia for max govt funding, no proper care until adopted, exploiting free employees...
No-kill shelters need your money, they need resources to actually help animals.

To be fair OP, this is what happens in PETA operated shelters. I don’t condemn PETA for it because I understand that they only put down severely ill or dying patients and are one of the few organizations actively working on the animals’ best interest.
