Liwi808

Saw like 4 stalled cars on my 12 mile drive to work today. Heat is ducking shit up.

xwrecker

Gotta stock up on coolant

VegasGuy1223

Gotta stay up to date on vehicle maintenance too. I consider myself incredibly lucky my Ford Fusion just keeps on trucking in this heat while I drive Uber on the strip

hackz88

Happened to me the other day when I had a broken radiator cap. A/C went hot and I had to pull over. Have coolant and check your coolant systems! (when cool of course)

MountainFee8756

Also carry extra water in your car!

-Joel-and-Ellie-

How

Party_Wrongdoer4157

Been having a friend follow me in his newer car and bringing a cooler everywhere I go because I’m worried my ol’ truck is going to just call it quits while doing some weekend house projects. Be safe out there kids and buddy up!

Healthy_navel

Duck? Memo to the inventor of autocorrect: IT WAS NEVER DUCK!

nvalle23

🦆

Formetoknow123

Taking my car in next week for a new ac system before it officially dies. And getting a nice amount of miles on my credit card in the process.

Liwi808

I was at Valvoline and they wanted to charge me $100 to replace my coolant. Does that actually do anything??? I'm reading that coolant never has to be replaced. Are they trying to scam me???

Slippin_Jimmy_269

I Can drain and fill your radiator for cheaper but in all honesty it won’t make your vehicle run cooler or anything. It’s good to do because over time coolant gets corrosive and can damage components.

Formetoknow123

Look into getting an ac recharge. But getting your coolant flushed can help prevent your car from overheating. So not a bad idea.

ryphi97

In truth your refrigerant should not leak out since it’s a closed loop. If it’s needing a recharge than bigger things are needed. I live here and at home I would invest in a temporary ac unit that can duct to windows. Get a 1 ton unit as a backup to help for obscene weeks like this that require extra help. As for cars…. Just don’t drive a piece of crap car over the summer for long trips in the heat. I also would not recommend driving to California this week because if your car dies along the way than you are absolutely fucked on the side of a road

Liwi808

AC recharge? Not sure what that means. Sorry I'm a car noob, I drive a Sentra lol.

LVDivorced23

Think of it like this ... AC recharge keeps the AC cold for you in the car. Coolant keeps the engine block, the main thing that makes you go fast while moving in any direction ... :-)

Formetoknow123

I'm not quite sure. But a friend did that on my camry and the a/c is ice cold now. Any mechanics reading this, feel free to chime in.

Slippin_Jimmy_269

I’m mobile too btw

RustyStevenson10

You should replace your coolant every 60k miles.

jgsanto12

Quack quack mfer

throwawaybeet-h

My hometown is currently at 120, but let me tell you, with all the concrete and asphalt here in Vegas, this feels worse. Depressing.

I do like the river down there! Mmmmm…. Waterrrrr

Melodic-Crow-7960

Mariah?

Beard341

I always wondered what law enforcement has to do when they have to put a guy in the ground in this heat because that sounds unpleasant for everyone involved.

awesometographer

had a handheld digital thermometer when I was a bike commuter. It hit 132 on my way home a few times. I hung a wall thermometer on my warehouses's bak wall that went to 140... it melted. Radiant heat that builds up is a real thing.

mortician0089

How do you go outside to go somewhere without sweating in your clothes?

PhatPackMagic

I read this as a dating ad for 118 (year old) Female

donotgo_gentle

GGGILF

Ill-Dot7027

Benjamin Franklin loved GILFs because they couldn't get pregnant. Don't judge XD

Notatallevil

Wait, how did you obtain that information and keep it as something you remember 😂

Ill-Dot7027

He mentions it in his autobiography about how he preferred older women and recommended them to a younger male nymphomaniac Benny was freak in the sheets

Notatallevil

I think I’m laughing because I already know this will be forever ingrained into my brain now too.

Ill-Dot7027

Well, I am glad I made you laugh

capt7430

A/S/L?

nvalle23

That sounds hotter than the temperature🌡️

IndieContractorUS

Barely legal

buttahfly28

Me too 😂

Apprehensive_Bill566

I saw someone fucking died from the heat in DV yesterday https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/motorcyclist-dies-suspected-heat-exposure-death-valley-rcna160636

OneManGangTootToot

We’ve almost hit medium rare.

iliark

119F according to NWS

throwawaybeet-h

120 officially. Insane.

True-Scarcity8048

Is the 118 F cute? She thick?

xam4206

She's hot; about 20 F over normal.

True-Scarcity8048

She should probably get to the hospital but I’m gonna hit first 😤

xam4206

My body temp runs a little low so looks like I've dropped her to 117.

True-Scarcity8048

“ma’am, stay still. I’m just helping you cool off” 😂

swool

She's a 47 in Europe

edog77777

This guy Celsiuses.

flat_four_whore22

My covered patio is reading 126 in Aliante.

MrSpock54

Isn't that Caliente then?

Dapper_Employer5787

I'm going to stick an egg outside and see it hard boils

isptga

Think you could toss some bacon out there also? I’ll bring mimosas.

istandabove

I’ll take mine over easy with cheese please

Kooky-Necessary-3963

I’ll throw a sheet of cookie dough on the dash and meet you in 20mins.

awesometographer

Unsafe to eat, but makes your car smell amazing for like a week.

MilitaryWeaponRepair

Batteries, tires and windshield wipers are three things that will die in Vegas heat no matter how name brand or expensive they are. I live in a dual air house. Trying to keep both units from running same time. Both at 80. Kids downstairs during day, upstairs at night. Fans on medium all day. Still terrified of this month's bill...

awesometographer

I replaced my battery in the fall... lasted 8 years (original battery) $500 to replace, but say what you will about Cadillacs / luxury expenses... sometimes it's worth it.

RoseClouds-

Hit 120 89119 an hour ago.

mylifeinCAisEffed

NWS officially announced it too (Harry Reid airport).

sig310

My electric bill about be $500 lol

Number1Duhrellfan

Even Mother Nature is sick of y’all moving here 😂.

DragonRancherJed

It all feels the same to me after 105. Hot.

Wounded_Hand

Yep it’s July in Las Vegas, no surprise

charlton11

The Vegas record high of all-time was 117. The average in July is 107. "Times are a changing"

Formetoknow123

You can tell who has been in Vegas a while and who is new.

Papa_PaIpatine

Reminder **MAGA Republican PATRIOTS**, climate change is a "*Liberal Demonrat Hoax*" be sure to stay outside under direct sunlight all day drinking beer like PATRIOTS to own the libs. Heachaches and cramping is just the LIBERALISM leaving your body.

Ding-dong-hello

Also, don’t forget to stare at the sun to show your allegiance! The longer the better!

riichwith2eyes

Papa speaks the truth.

freq-ee

If climate change is real and this isn't just a normal heat wave, you better move. A few more degrees and the city isn't really livable anymore. Are you moving? If not, then you don't really believe in global warming.

Solitude_Intensifies

"*If* climate change is real" LOL

Papa_PaIpatine

Damn straight Patriot brother! That evil mass murdering "*Doctor*" Fauci would tell you that skin cancer is bad for you! And that you should wear sunscreen to protect yourself from "*UV radiation*"! UV Radiation, HA! No one has ever even seen "UV rays" cause they're not real! While you and I both know that the sun is just God's flashlight giving you free Vitamin D! D, as in Donald "Jesus" Trump! Coincidence? I THINK NOT! The COMMIES at the CDC don't want you to receive this beneficial vitamin because they know that without it you'll vote DEMONRAT!!!

[deleted]

Go play fallout man

Formetoknow123

People forget that they keep putting in concrete and asphalt down, which hold the heat

finny_d420

Down by UNLV and van is showing 127

VegasGuy1223

Cars can be overly dramatic in hot weather. My car read 136 while I was ubering on the strip a few days ago at the intersection of LVB and Flamingo

too_tall87

My rental car was overly dramatic in the opposite direction. It ready 83 while driving for 30 min downtown. Pretty nice for July!

671sjk

119 over here and my husband and I are sitting comfortably in the house with a swamp cooler and the ceiling fan.

AppleCookieRose

119.3 in Henderson.

Michellenjon_2010

118 F..... "Feels" like 130 🥵

No-Rush-1174

Reason 1a why I reconsidered moving to LV. That and crappy Healthcare

xam4206

I'd change the subject but don't think it lets you.

True-Scarcity8048

Pretty f’n wild. And of course little old me, goes out last night, gets home late, and leaves the car out of the garage 😑. Guess I love the heat

JJLewisLV

You're pretty old grandma. How'd you get on this sub?

TheDollarstoreDoctor

I knew I was getting used to the temperature when I was sitting outside waiting for at least 20 minutes to be called for an interview in leggings, a long sleeved dress, and a blazer without feeling like I was going to pass out or even mildly uncomfortable. Yesterday I was at a night time pool party, it was maybe 85-90 degrees and I was legit violently shivering (before I even got into the pool). My house is 70-75 and I gotta bundle up like it's the deep Arctic. I used to be severely heat intolerant before moving here. Even last year when I worked outside I could barely handle it. But ig slowly over time being in this weather does weird shit to people.

Sbuxshlee

Yup. Now i cant tolerate winters! My hands and ears legit get hives when its under 60, and if there is any wind too, forget it. I cant go out without ear muffs and gloves otherwise i have a really uncomfortable time while warming back up. ..

ItHurtzWhenIPee

"but it's a *dry* heat, yadda yadda yadda"

definitely_not_cylon

I've seriously contemplated sunbirding. I'm remote anyway, so I could just take my job with me. Anybody have experience with this? I'd prefer somewhere I could drive to, so I'd have my car with me and can take all my computer equipment with me (I can do my job with just a laptop, but it's way easier with my full setup).

courthouseman

that's what I think is gonna happen a lot over the next 20-30 years. You mean like a "reverse snow-bird," right? Where people love Vegas and Phoenix, BUT FOR the 3-4 months of this hellfire spawn we have to deal with this time of year. I know lots of people who "work" in Vegas but live up in Montana or Idaho. Sounds really attractive right about now.

ChanceryTheRapper

When I lived in Utah, people called them the Sun City people.

Gchildress63

My friend remotes from her RV for the last ten years. Summers in Maine, winters in NM or AZ

Apprehensive_War6542

It is 65 degrees right now in Crescent City, California.

Quiet-Lengthiness-99

Missoula is lovely this time of year.

720pothead

Anybody going to pools in this, or just staying inside?

daddydaveeed

Now imagine having to work outside all day lol

DryScallion924

🙋🙋🙋🙋every day 340 ish days of the year

daddydaveeed

Same here pretty much lol. Just rn I’m doing it 12-14 hours a day. I’m a hvac technician the work just doesn’t stop rn

DryScallion924

I'm so tempted to get into that, but the process and such, difficult to start.

daddydaveeed

It’s not that hard tbh. Trade school is 4-6 months, plenty of company’s hiring it’s just hard getting that first job when you know absolutely nothing. Pay is good. I just don’t really recommend it unless you can handle working long hours outside. As a technician most of the time your are not doing really doing heavy work it’s more of a mental thing figuring out what is wrong with stuff. But you will have to do some heavy stuff every once in a while. Plenty of tougher trades out there but hvac is forsure not easy either.

DryScallion924

That I can understand, I've worked in AZ during the summer time & been working outdoors here in Vegas and Idaho since my mid 20's. Only thing I'd hate is the creepy crawly things tbh.

Defiant_Coconut_5361

Have you ever gotten heat stroke? I genuinely can’t make it more than like 20 minutes outside unless I’m in a pool after it passes 107*. I actually puked from the heat twice today 🙃

DryScallion924

No I haven't, I drink water, have pickle juice & prime. Also having a long sided hat helps.

Defiant_Coconut_5361

That’s amazing! Thank you for the essential, literal hard work you put in (almost) every day 🙏🏼

DryScallion924

Thank you, doing underground locating is tough work, between the crazy drivers, busy intersections, heat & dogs it's a lot, thank you for saying thank you it's appreciated.

knivesout0

My AC went out 🫠

sakinnuso

I’m outside in my car for hours. Security guard. On the hour, I do foot patrol. That tour is. BRUTAL in this heat. Now that the sun had gone down, it’s finally bearable. 118 no sun still super hot, but not DEATH. Just walk slow and breathe.

linda70455

According to the paper it’s 120F 🥵

Liceu

National Weather Service said Harry Reid airport reached 120°.

Perpetualfukup28

Lol ya try being without a car. I'm ready to die

_Cylon_

Wow you’re old.

ninjarunner13

Stay hydrated! It was 120F the other day

13Kaniva

I drive for UPS in Colorado. I can't imagine how the drivers out there stay alive.

birdy_bird84

Nice 84 where I am. Cooling breeze. I don't miss the days of working outside in Vegas.

Top-Yogurtcloset-421

Who would have guessed a desert would be hot?

CasuallySerious1103

Record breaking heat*

ChanceryTheRapper

Literally the hottest temperature measured in Vegas, but sure.

Top-Yogurtcloset-421

Literally still a desert, but ok 🖕

ChanceryTheRapper

It's almost like it's exceptionally hot even for a desert or something, huh?

Dangerous_Basil5899

Airport officially reported 120 … left for Pilates at 8am this morning . Ran errands , then home . Binged watched Netflix …
