"I wanna ask what you think is the best game ever, but it's been asked so many times I felt weird so I found/made this dumb picture of a burger to ask the same question that has been asked a million times before"
Don't repost bots have zero comment karma since they don't reply on posts? This "bot" has thousands of comment karma, unless they're getting smarter now lol
Basically some people will make a bot to automatically repost things to farm karma. I have no idea why, maybe to sell the account with high karma, maybe just to see big number go up.
If you dont know what is the cause of something its often just one thing - money. People sell and buy these accounts, companies often use them to make their ads more believable etc.
Many people including me often look for opinion on some product on google and type "reddit" at the end of the sentence to see what people have to tell about it and companies already caught on.
Most games in the last 20 years have intro scenes, and I'd also consider the tutorial segment an opening, and some games do those fantastically.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWWy7V9rCrA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWWy7V9rCrA) case and point
In my opinion, gameplay is the most important factor, period.
Thatās the whole point behindā¦playing a game. The best story, voice acting, cutscenes, graphics, etc. donāt make up for wack gameplay. If the gameplay isnāt good, might as well have just made it a short movie or something
Same. I donāt mind low res graphics, or lack of cutscenes, or awkward voice acting. A great story is always a plus but I will choose game play over everything, every time.
This is why mgs5 still works and is beloved by many because while it has arguably the weakest story out of all mgs games itās gameplay is far and away the best and one of the most fun games to play period.
I will play a game for hundreds of hours that has a dumb story, bad voice acting, and less than stellar graphics if the gameplay is enjoyable. It's almost all I care about.
Exactly. I havenāt sunk countless hours into the Hitman franchise because it has a good story, or good acting, or anything like that (because it doesnāt lol) I sink hours into it because itās just so damn fun and enjoyable to play. I couldnāt give a shit about the storyline. I couldnāt even tell you much beyond the obvious fact thatā¦wellā¦you play as a hitmanā¦lol.
Most of my favorite games, even the ones with great stories, itās just simply not why Iām there and itās not the reason for them being my favorite games. Itās always because of how much fun the actual guts of the game is to play and explore.
A great story can certainly enhance an amazing ambiance, which definitely adds to the experience, but if I donāt like the gameplay on itās own merit, Iām just not interested. The best story, music, and acting mean nothing to me unless the foundational reason for playing a gameā¦the gameplayā¦is purely solid.
Game play might not be everything to everyone but it is the one thing they is essential to have to at least some minimum level.
Many people can and do play a game with zero character development, zero narrative and/or meh art direction. On the other hand if gameplay is straight up trash no amount of great character, narrative or art style will make that game playable.
If gameplay is bad then the game is
This the story can literally be barebones/only really implied and graphics can be toaster tier and I'd still play it. Kenshi and project zomboid have pretty (deliberately) vague/implied stories that you have to go out of your way to find out about and the graphics are simple but the gameplay is fun enough to keep me around.
I didn't click with TW3 either, the overly stiff and unresponsive movement got to me, along with inputs failing to register again and again for pick-ups or mounting Roach was my bane lol.
Yet I respect the effort that went into making the game, a jack-of-all-trades kind of game.
If the game feels great and is satisfying, fun, rewarding, etc. it wonāt be shallow or meaningless. That goes against the definition of āgreat gameplayā
This is true, and it's also why Nintendo games are so good, gameplay is their centerpoint. Their design philosophy is all about designing everything purely around a strong game mechanic. In their games, absolutely everything, from the characters, to the storyline, to the setting, to the artstyle, all exist purely to support and enhance the core game mechanic.
In mainline Mario games for example, that would be jumping and platforming. You move by jumping, kill enemies by jumping, unlock powerups by jumping, and all the levels and worlds revolve around introducing and increasing the complexity of different platforming challenges.
In Mario Odyssey, it's all about throwing cappy, and that's how you attack, collect coins, interact with stuff, and even move around. In Splatoon, it's all about throwing paint and swimming in it, which is where they decided on the graffiti aesthetic, and the squid kid designs for the characters.
Even Zelda games are designed this way. Which is why, to the dismay of hardcore lore fans, Zelda games don't actually have a timeline in mind at all. Having a consistent story is not a concern when making the games, all the games' storylines and settings purley exist to support and showcase the core gameplay mechanic they came up with for each game.
I mean the burger is meant to be able to represent a lot of mediums as per the tweet, a show canāt have 10/10 gameplay.
Though the inclusion of āopeningsā makes me think the OP primarily had anime in mind regardless.
GTA: San Andreas, my favorite game ever, the only disappointing thing about the game is how they unfortunately had to handle Ryder, wished they killed him in the Green Sabre mission instead of having him betray the Grove at least, it would have been better and had the same impact.
You know, I've never thought of it being done that way. I always thought how unfortunate that they killed him off and had him betray, but I never figured he could have been killed at the reveal of Smoke's betrayal. It would have had a bigger impact I think. Smoke's betrayal, Ryder dead, Sweet in prison, CJ exiled.
God damn it. Now I have to build a time machine and get a job at Rockstar at age 11.
Mass Effect 2 is my favorite entry in general. The suicide mission, the gone-rogue feeling, the companion cast and romances in that entry were just top tier for me. That and they fixed a lot of the gameplay mechanics that made ME1 a bit clunky/outdated.
>Karen is by far the most compelling antagonist
"I've changed since our last encounter Shepard, Sovereign has... Upgraded me... Because I spoke to his manager and put in a call to corporate"
Saren is a great villain, especially if you >!successfully charm/intimidate him into seeing the error of his ways and convincing him to kill himself.!<
Andromeda has good game play and some decent characters. The story makes no sense and honestly would have been better if they had just focused on the already existing struggle between the native Andromeda species.
Getting Mass Effect 2 with all the DLC for PS3 after its exclusive period ran out for XBox 360 is one my favorite gaming memories ever. Weāll never see a trilogy like this again.
Cmon, ME1 gameplay is pretty darn rough. It's a fantastic game in every other aspect, and the sequels gameplay was great, but the gameplay on the original was decent, at best.
In my mid 40s and I've played video games since the coleco vision. That's A LOT of games. BG3 is the best I've ever played and it's not even close. It's on an entirely different level than everything else. There are about a dozen or so games I consider masterpiece material and BG3 is miles ahead of those.
You can have 10 people play the game all the way through and every person will have a very different journey based on decisions. That's amazing.
To this day Iād put RDR2 up against any game as my favorite. It even beats GTA5 for me. Lots will disagree but rockstar made an absolute masterpiece.
To me, there are 2 studios that come out with bangers every time. Naughty Dog and Rockstar Studios. All of their games are masterfully made and are some of the best examples of how to make brilliant games.
GAME : Nier Automata
SERIES: Breaking Bad/ Peaky Blinders
Movie: FUCK..... too many, the ones that speak to me the most is the imitation game/ LOTR return of the king
Yeah Witcher 3 is the only game I can think of that checks all the boxes. Blood and wine DLC was the only expansion to rival the undead nightmare dlc for the first red dead redemption. Only game where the side quests were more memorable than most of the main ones for me. I still remember looking for some dudes wife who got snatched by a monster and finding out she was fooling around with one of the farm workers when the monster attacked. Now I have to decide if I tell this poor dude that his field wasnāt the only thing getting plowed that day or not.
I built my life around it :) I kept working hard so that I can play it on better graphics, my last play through was on a 1050ti, I will probably later play it this year on a PS5
Steins;Gate is absolutely incredible. Itās a shame a lot of people donāt understand build-up and ditch the series after the first few episodes. Their loss.
You can, just keep in mind if you fall in love with bl2 first, there is a trend that you will dislike all the other borderlands games. It's more advisable to start with literally any other entry to see if you like the series
Yes, but borderlands 1 does contain a lot more story than people let on. It's janky and took a while to be fun, but it does pick up and enhances the story if you play it before 2. Especially the dlcs, which continue the story and are around half the game.
Nier automata for me, a unique story, fun gameplay, well written and voiced cast of characters, good animations (platinum games baby), god tier ost. Heart renching ending and thematic message about humanism.
I loved Replicant so much more, it hit much closer to home for me.
I had a blast playing through Automata but the characters and story weren't as compelling to me for some reason, its an amazing game no doubt but if you asked me, everything about Replicant is unmatched, the music, characters, world, plot and twists, it holds a place with me that Automata couldn't scratch
Final Fantasy 7 (Remake/Rebirth), MGS 1, 2, and 3, Final Fantasy 10, Sekiro, Resident Evil 2 (OG / Remake), Resident Evil 4 (OG / Remake), Dead Space Remake
Detroit become human. It is phenomenal. I'm a huge suck for those types of games, life is strange, walking dead, I love them both.
But Detroit become human is a masterpiece. Destroys pretty much every game I've played in that genre. Highly recommend.
In terms of storyline, setting, gameplay, music, characters, and fun - Chrono Trigger. Except it's not a bloated AAAA 500 million dollar game, so it doesn't remind me of something that would give me a fucking heart attack.
This one's easy.
Mass effect 2.
Best opening in a video game.
Story is spot on.
Gameplay is miles above 1
You love all the characters.
Music is gripping.
Amazing graphics for the time
Voice acting was next level.
"I wanna ask what you think is the best game ever, but it's been asked so many times I felt weird so I found/made this dumb picture of a burger to ask the same question that has been asked a million times before"
You can tell OP more than likely pulled it from an anime sub too with the "10/10 Openings" part.
Calling a repost bot an "OP"
Don't repost bots have zero comment karma since they don't reply on posts? This "bot" has thousands of comment karma, unless they're getting smarter now lol
Repost bots nowadays are also reposting comments from old threads
Serious question because I don't Internet much- what is the point of a repost bot?
Basically some people will make a bot to automatically repost things to farm karma. I have no idea why, maybe to sell the account with high karma, maybe just to see big number go up.
As a machine learning project to put on your resume
If you dont know what is the cause of something its often just one thing - money. People sell and buy these accounts, companies often use them to make their ads more believable etc. Many people including me often look for opinion on some product on google and type "reddit" at the end of the sentence to see what people have to tell about it and companies already caught on.
Haha I also type Reddit at the end of my Google searches sometimes. I believe in you guys šŖ
maybe it's a repost human
Well yea, they 100% did.
Most games in the last 20 years have intro scenes, and I'd also consider the tutorial segment an opening, and some games do those fantastically. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWWy7V9rCrA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWWy7V9rCrA) case and point
And people will still answer, lmao
"A picture of a burger that none the less has also been reposted atleast 60 time across this and many other subs"
And OP chose the worst picture to make their point, an extremely unhealthy and unappealing burger. Some might even say disgusting. š
It blows my mind how gameplay means absolutely nothing to so many people.
In my opinion, gameplay is the most important factor, period. Thatās the whole point behindā¦playing a game. The best story, voice acting, cutscenes, graphics, etc. donāt make up for wack gameplay. If the gameplay isnāt good, might as well have just made it a short movie or something

Like lethal company kinda, for how silly the gameplay can be
This is why mgs5 still works and is beloved by many because while it has arguably the weakest story out of all mgs games itās gameplay is far and away the best and one of the most fun games to play period.
I will play a game for hundreds of hours that has a dumb story, bad voice acting, and less than stellar graphics if the gameplay is enjoyable. It's almost all I care about.

And Iāll play a game with mediocre gameplay if the narrative and audiovisual presentation are enjoyable, though there is a limit

My exact issue with the Witcher 3
I didn't click with TW3 either, the overly stiff and unresponsive movement got to me, along with inputs failing to register again and again for pick-ups or mounting Roach was my bane lol. Yet I respect the effort that went into making the game, a jack-of-all-trades kind of game.
100% I've played like 8-16 bit games that are more fun than a "AAA" game simply because the gameplay just clicks.
For most single player games, there needs to be a reason to actually play further. Gameplay is important but it can't be shallow or meaningless
If the game feels great and is satisfying, fun, rewarding, etc. it wonāt be shallow or meaningless. That goes against the definition of āgreat gameplayā
There's a reason why minecraft and tetris absolutely dominate video game sales for as long as they have.
This is true, and it's also why Nintendo games are so good, gameplay is their centerpoint. Their design philosophy is all about designing everything purely around a strong game mechanic. This was obviously an anime meme.
It blows how mind how context means absolutely nothing to so many people.
these sorta call and responce "memes" are karma farmer posts. Like why is this a thing for the 9th time now just this weekend.
This post screams anime, thatās why thereās no gameplay 10/10. OP just copied and pasted without thinking.
I mean the burger is meant to be able to represent a lot of mediums as per the tweet, a show canāt have 10/10 gameplay. Though the inclusion of āopeningsā makes me think the OP primarily had anime in mind regardless.
It's sad is what it is.
CHESS
Oh yeah 10/10 voice acting š
you didn't get the voice acting DLC? how else are you supposed to know when the opponent is about to Google something
GTA: San Andreas, my favorite game ever, the only disappointing thing about the game is how they unfortunately had to handle Ryder, wished they killed him in the Green Sabre mission instead of having him betray the Grove at least, it would have been better and had the same impact.
to be fair it was an issue with the voice actor FYI the game is officially 20 years old as of this year
"Ah shit here we go again"
You know, I've never thought of it being done that way. I always thought how unfortunate that they killed him off and had him betray, but I never figured he could have been killed at the reveal of Smoke's betrayal. It would have had a bigger impact I think. Smoke's betrayal, Ryder dead, Sweet in prison, CJ exiled. God damn it. Now I have to build a time machine and get a job at Rockstar at age 11.
Portal 2
Literally the first game I thought of when checking to see if it matched each category.
This was a triumph.
my immediate first thought
Mass Effect trilogy
Playing through this trilogy for the first time blind is still one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time.
I will always remember the opening scene of 2 bring like what the fuck
Mass Effect 2 is my favorite entry in general. The suicide mission, the gone-rogue feeling, the companion cast and romances in that entry were just top tier for me. That and they fixed a lot of the gameplay mechanics that made ME1 a bit clunky/outdated.
2 used to be my favorite. Over the years 1 has firmly planted in first. Karen is by far the most compelling antagonist
>Karen is by far the most compelling antagonist "I've changed since our last encounter Shepard, Sovereign has... Upgraded me... Because I spoke to his manager and put in a call to corporate"
Saren is a great villain, especially if you >!successfully charm/intimidate him into seeing the error of his ways and convincing him to kill himself.!<
I donāt think anyone will ever forget the first time they hear the Reaper speak. That monologue is *ice* cold.
Sovereign is a great villain. Theming a Lovecraftian enemy into a Space Opera style story was ingenious.
Playing through it again but with different choices is also satisfying, and then reliving the excitement through the large lets play gaming community.
Youuu BIG STUPID JELLYFISH
Perfect trilogy (we donāt talk about Andromeda)
Andromeda has good game play and some decent characters. The story makes no sense and honestly would have been better if they had just focused on the already existing struggle between the native Andromeda species.
Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong. <3
Bio Shock comes close
Just a heads up that the remaster collection is on sale for 12 bucks right now!
Came here to say this
Baldurs Gate 3
I know it's recent, but give credit where credit is due! Superb game of all time
For some reason, games should be age to have value. BG3 is superb in every category.
This was my answer too, game just feels perfect.
YES
Halo 2
Halo 2 is my favorite halo game of all time. Especially on the master chief collection
Ocarina of time.
Even 10/10 for voice acting?
Hey! Listen!
HYYAAAA
For itās time yes 100%
This is the only correct answer. Though I will also accept Majora's Mask.
For me itās Persona 5 Royal. It has everything including an antagonist that you feel bad for.
Chrono Trigger. Absolute masterpiece
This is my answer too. There's hardly a single thing about the game I dislike, other than the fact that it ends.
Subnautica for me
This is my favorite game!
10/10 voice acting by the ship
Just waiting til itās on sale so I can buy it
It's currently on sale for like 66% off or something I just bought it
Been on sale for a few days now, will be on sale until the 21st.
Super hyped for the next game.
I've never played it but it's on my list. Should I play the first one and then below zero? Can I skipp the first one and only play below zero?
Red Dead Redemption 2
To this day Iād put RDR2 up against any game as my favorite. It even beats GTA5 for me. Lots will disagree but rockstar made an absolute masterpiece.
It's worlds ahead of GTAV, it's honestly surprising to me how you even compare those 2 games
To me, there are 2 studios that come out with bangers every time. Naughty Dog and Rockstar Studios. All of their games are masterfully made and are some of the best examples of how to make brilliant games.
I agree, RDR2 is a million times better than GTA5
It's a crime they didn't update it to 60fps on console.
Rdr2 is the best game of all time imo. And itās not close for me.
The last of us RDR2
GAME : Nier Automata SERIES: Breaking Bad/ Peaky Blinders Movie: FUCK..... too many, the ones that speak to me the most is the imitation game/ LOTR return of the king
Witcher 3
I had to make sure '10/10 gameplay' wasn't there when I read that lmao
Itās not a 10/10 but itās really not bad at all.
Yeah Witcher 3 is the only game I can think of that checks all the boxes. Blood and wine DLC was the only expansion to rival the undead nightmare dlc for the first red dead redemption. Only game where the side quests were more memorable than most of the main ones for me. I built my life around it :) I kept working hard so that I can play it on better graphics, my last play through was on a 1050ti, I will probably later play it this year on a PS5
Avatar the Last Airbender
Crazy how a show made for Nickelodeon achieved such perfection in every single layer of itās writing
Devil May cry 5.
Mass Effect 2. No question.
Assassinās Creed 2
The whole ezio chronicles are perfect š
Disco Elysium. Itās a really good game and I highly recommend it if you can.
I keep trying to get into it, I really want to love it like everyone else is haha
First āold manā game Iāve ever played and Iāve got to say itās amazing
Titanfall 2
anime: steins gate game: dark souls 3 movie: dark knight series: breaking bad
Yeah, 10/10 animation and voice acting in Breaking Bad.
They looked and sounded so real though
they used metahuman for the characters.
I sense edge in this one
never seen the anime you mentioned but every other genre you got spot on! just finished a BB rewatch. such a good show.
Steins;Gate is absolutely incredible. Itās a shame a lot of people donāt understand build-up and ditch the series after the first few episodes. Their loss.
Baldurs gate 3. It's just so fucking good
For me. Final Fantasy X. That's just me. The music alone I would fall asleep with the PS controller in my hand wake up and keep playing lol.
Borderlands 2
Can I play it without completing Borderlands 1
Absolutely. Go back to borderlands 1 later, itās much slower paced
I'm surprised this hasn't got more upvotes. It's the perfect game.
Always liked borderlands 1 better
The āwesternā wasteland vibe. Kudos
i loveddd the borderlands games. i played them w my bf. hopefully the movie they make abt it is good š
Devil May Cry series 1000% this is it
Nier automata for me, a unique story, fun gameplay, well written and voiced cast of characters, good animations (platinum games baby), god tier ost.
Replicant combat and pacing a bit dated
The last of us part 1

pretty sure that burger isn't good at all
