Yeah this, or I sometimes see people listing 'a bin bag full of clothes' along with the size the clothes are in, and a rough guide of what's included, like t-shirts, jeans etc
They're a thing jn the UK. It's basically a garage sale, but lots of people bring their stuff to one location (a field or parking lot usually) and sell their stuff from the back of their car (the boot).
I’ve always wanted to do a carboot. I don’t know the culture or the style behind it, where do I go to do it? Who do i take? Will i look weird doing it? How much should i charge? im just stuck honestly
honestly carboots are just a bunch of random stuff at stalls people are just trying to get rid of, ive been to quite a lot and most people selling clothes price them at 50p a piece or do like 5 for £2, so quite cheap. you won’t look weird doing it at all, maybe have a wonder around one or two to grasp the kind of ‘culture’ around them first and see if they’re for you :)
Hiya! You can google car boots near you and ones will pop up 😊 Selling wise is super easy, you just need bits to sell, a decorating table and a float for change 😊 You queue up, pay usually about £10-£15 (will say somewhere) to whoever is on the gate, park in a row and set your stuff up, and that's really all there is to it :)
Because I used to do it full time and then started a new job so now don’t have the time to keep it going on the side so have lots of stock left that I need to shift 😊
I haven’t purchased any new stock for ages! I’d built up a lot of stock over the years that I was a seller and now I don’t have space for it, hence why I’m trying to get rid of it
There's places like Cash for Clothes and We Buy Any Clothes that give you cash for bulk clothing.
Fastest would be donate them to charity but I'm guessing you want some money.
You’ll get about £14 for 15kg of clothes which is about 4 full black bags, and then they’ll claim some isn’t good enough quality and they’ll reduce it some more don’t do it, group into bundles and sell yourself
Take the time to list as outfits on eBay maybe? Use Pinterest for inspiration, for example - a jacket, a top/jumper, trousers/skirt !
But take pictures of it as an outfit too, if the pictures are pretty you’ll get a sale more quickly :)
I had to close my shop too, and I contacted the nearest charity that support women running away from abuse they picked up everything! (I used to sell mainly women clothes)
I’d suggest the car boot but it wouldn’t be in bulk. You might get a decent amount of money for it all but not without some work. A conventional auctioneer would no doubt sell it as a lot but it might get very little. The person buying would take it as car boot stock and they would get the money you would have got doing it yourself.
If you don't care about the money, put it on local buy nothing groups as a bag of clothes (in each size). People are really grateful for a lot of good quality stuff. Especially with cost of living at the moment.
You must live in a pretty small town then, most big ‘charities’ in the UK are not Non profit, look it up you’d be shocked. Oxfam, BHF, Red Cross (one of the worst, only donate 7.8% of any profit made in shops as any potential AID) I can go on and on.
I have 😊 it’s exactly the same with all the others except for example, store manager at goodwill earns 80k per year, CEO of BHF is on £218,000 per year. Don’t be naive they’re all the same, unless it’s one of the smaller charities they are all complete cons.
Goodwill made about £11k in the UK last year. It’s just not relevant as a charity.

That’s okay, I am aware they’re small here, it’s best to just state that to the OP instead of being passive aggressive is more my point as your logic was flawed and you clearly understood that they just meant- ‘give it to a charity shop’.
i cant help but always think these posts are only fishing potential buyers and its annoying tbh
It totally is lol look at their replies
Yeah, the shop on vinted is closed but they're happy to message loads of potential buyers on this thread separately for possibly only 1 or 2 pieces.
Why do people want to buy when you can't see what clothes there are to buy?
Oh they so are. A lot of their replies be like "message me if you are interested" trynna take people for fools here
Literally already saw this exact post before I stg
Put it on eBay as job lot auctions
Yeah this, or I sometimes see people listing 'a bin bag full of clothes' along with the size the clothes are in, and a rough guide of what's included, like t-shirts, jeans etc
the quickest way would be to charity shops ! however that’s only if you want to get rid completely!!
Doing a carboot might be the quickest way to shift most things in one day. Or eBay listings as lots?
Yea car boots are good - just need some sunshine to do them 😂
What is a car boot? I have never heard that before. 🤔

Thanks!!! Where would i go to find a carboot? Like a park or something?

depends if you’re in the uk they’re pretty common, i normally look for them on facebook or google ones near me, they’re normally every sunday
If you cannot get it sold, maybe donate to a shelter or a charity in need? They're unlikely to say no
Reported OP as a “shop advertisement”. Because there are many DMs for deals here.
hardly
You should have left it up on your shop and then people could actually see what it was you were selling and maybe do a bulk deal
[удалено]
Then why did you close it?? Seems like you went on a non logical whim and now you're stuck with the consequences of your actions lol
Because I used to do it full time and then started a new job so now don’t have the time to keep it going on the side so have lots of stock left that I need to shift 😊
You could've left your stuff up and not purchased more stock...
I haven’t purchased any new stock for ages! I’d built up a lot of stock over the years that I was a seller and now I don’t have space for it, hence why I’m trying to get rid of it
But how will waiting on random reddit strangers be faster than keeping your shop opened?
they’re just tryna fish for money on here don’t bother

You're not supposed to be fishing for potential buyers here. This is reddit not vinted. We all know what you're trying to do, we ain't dumb
That’s not a realistic price at all for a bulk deal. £1-2 is more the ballpark
Just put everything up for £1 each with 50% bundles if you want them gone quick. Or advertise the lot on Facebook. Someone will come collect it.
You also posted this on a depop page… https://www.reddit.com/r/DepopUK/s/Otj4l0dxfL
Consignment stores, yard sales, depop and other platform do bundles for really cheap
Catboot sale: You could probably sell all of it in one or two carboots if find a busy one
Yea I’ve done a couple already - just waiting for the sun to come out so I can do some more 😅🤞🏻
Take the time to list as outfits on eBay maybe? Use Pinterest for inspiration, for example - a jacket, a top/jumper, trousers/skirt ! But take pictures of it as an outfit too, if the pictures are pretty you’ll get a sale more quickly :)

This is the way to do it.
I’m sure you can become a seller at a vintage kilo sale
Charity shop will take the lot for you.
Is it vintage stuff?

I’d like to see some pictures please!
Car Bot Sale if you’re in the UK
Yea I’ve done a couple! It’s just waiting for good enough weather to do some more 😅
Covetclothing.com
Lookup Thrift app
Maybe put all the inventory as an auction on eBay. Good luck
Car boot ☺️
Will happily take it off your hands if you'd like 😄
I'll give you a tenner delivered.

donation

Is that a Burberry trench?! 🥹
Noo I wish 😭 I do have a vintage Dannimac one though that looks like a Burberry trench!!
Look for rag buyers. They pay by weight and take it all in one go if you can't be bothered finding donation bins, they're at most supermarkets.
what’s this ‘no personal info’ on every post
You have to put it in the title - it’s on of the group rules 🤷🏼♀️
Yeet them into the trash?
Take it to a charity shop, they'll take it for free!
Try depop, Mercari, etc. I know on Depop. You’ll definitely get by fast but sometimes it does take a while.
Take it to the charity shop
For a profit? Cause if not, see if there’s an lgbt center near you, see if they take clothing donations
Donate it to good will.
You mean goodwill which is a US company pretending to be a charity?
No, I meant charity
Yeah same as many of the charity shops in the UK (not all)
Really? We have 5 charity shops on our town and they are all legitimate.
You must live in a pretty small town then, most big ‘charities’ in the UK are not Non profit, look it up you’d be shocked. Oxfam, BHF, Red Cross (one of the worst, only donate 7.8% of any profit made in shops as any potential AID) I can go on and on.
No wonder why BHF has so many free bags and boxes to dump closes in for literally every uni accommodation…
At least goodwill is non profit so 100% off all profit made does go to charity.
Nah just google goodwill. You won’t be impressed.
I have 😊 it’s exactly the same with all the others except for example, store manager at goodwill earns 80k per year, CEO of BHF is on £218,000 per year. Don’t be naive they’re all the same, unless it’s one of the smaller charities they are all complete cons.

That’s cool, goodwill and good will are different, I’m sorry just not a fan of goodwill as a company sorry for the aggro x
Whereabouts are you?

I think postage costs would be insane (I buy job lots) but thank you!

I'll take it all depending on what it is tbh lol Best bet would be ebay/fb marketplace

Wow, do you have EU size 44 or 46?
I’m not familiar with EU sizing - do you know what that is in UK sizing?
It is an UK 16-18. But I wouldn't buy in bulk, so I don't know whether you would be willing to sell me anything. Anyway, good luck 😊
44 is a UK16 I believe.
