The only reason why I like the first one is because of how can hide the record player and lift up the thing to reveal it reminds be of those mid century record players that I’m currently obsessed with but I have seen reviews about the first one and how the legs are fragile
I have the first one and lam happy with it. I bought new legs on Amazon before I even installed the old ones since I was aware of the reputation. They are metal and have a gold trim that matches the handles. Definitely still a unit I empty and lift instead of drag across the floor whenever I’ve moved it.
If you have a collection, you’ll know how important record space becomes. If not, you’ll find out. So, unless you’re gonna keep the collection very lean, you may want to grab the first piece and plan for expansion.
That said, I still like the look of two 🤷🏻♂️
The legs were fine for everyday use, it must not have been packed well, and two of the legs broke off and damaged the underside of the cabinet and it’s useless now.
Also, I added this after having a 4x4 ikea unit, so storage was never thought for me. I liked the look, and that it covered the TT.
Not sure I’d buy the same one again.
My ex also bought one of these and even though it looks really nice, it feels flimsy and cheap. The dividers in the vinyl storage area wouldn’t lock into place, and it seemed like the lid for the right side would never sit flush in a way that looked nice. I’ve also seen lots of reviews that echo the fragility of the legs. You absolutely CANNOT scoot it.
By my standard, the inside isn’t deep enough to be a “one size fits all” solution. I wasn’t able to fit a Yamaha receiver into the left side, so we had to leave it on top of the left side, with the turntable in the space under the lid. Really frustrating all around.
IIRC there were no holes in the back of the left side to run cables?
It’s flawed, but you need to be perfect in assembly. I dont think their QC is great. Mine was flush, and everything joined well. If the legs didn’t snap I’d still be using it.
Oh yeah, I was extra careful when putting it together. Double and triple checked everything. I’m fairly certain there were horizontal slits in the back you could run cables through, but I could be misremembering. I know that I couldn’t get the sliding door closed to clear the receiver when I tried to put it all together.
The first link is the one from urban outfitters but if you want to save about 120 the second link is the pretty much the exact same thing brand and everything

I have the first one. I like the style of it, but the quality is not the best. The top sags a little after I had a small rack to keep records on the top left. If’s not even really noticeable, but it bugs me. I added racks to also store records in the bottom left below the shelves, which double the storage capacity. Line you, I just like the aesthetic. I also like to be able to put things away and not display everything all the time.
I have the first one and use the section under the record player to store my components (I put in shelves). The only reason I have it is because my TT is in the living room and need to protect it from a young kid. I do wish I had it out and visible.
The first one looks pretty cool but the second is way more functional. More room for records and no doors to get in the way, and, unlike the first one, it will work with any sized turntable.
Two would be ideal for storage, however I see in other comments you're worried about them being exposed. Check out the Fjallbo line at Ikea, they have TV units that can be slightly altered to better fit records with metal mesh doors protecting them
The second one is from urban outfitters but urban outfitters is way to expensive then if you were to buy it from the actual manufacturer itself the first link is from UO and the second link is from the company itself

My buddy had #1 and it's been fine for him. Heavier than it looks. Legs are kinda fragile but none broke when we moved it it was just heavy and awkward to move. The hidden player aspect is pretty cool. He had issues getting the door track to sit level so one door would slide open on its own
Second one - though I do not like those speakers next to each other - dump them, put a tube-amp in their place, and get nice, big floor speakers. But I don't like records in a rack where the turntable is. Flipping through the records (which I tend to do while a record is playing) may cause the needle to move.
I have the second one, and it did well until it needed to move the middle leg broke pretty quickly after I started putting weight on it. Super nice to look at, but not built very well.
In my opinion, the second one is better, but you should never put speakers on the same surface as a turntable… you will get a humming sound…
Maybe you can find self standing stand to put them on each side ..
Looks good
I'm curious. I'm not sure if the expedit from IKEA just brainwashed us all, but does nobody do browser or flip bins versus vertical? I absolutely hate vertical storage. The spines of a record aren't really great at relating any information.
When I have the chance I built all my casework to be flip bins like a record store. It's so great. The only problem is needing more space, because they've become pretty tight and it's a drag getting ready for a gig and having to pull things. When you have over 25+ linear feet or more of vinyl, my goodness does it end up taking over your life. Lol ugh
But serious question, does anybody choose to do their vinyl like this? https://goo.gl/photos/preJokPmXzok1GRX7
1, if your priority is how it looks.
2, if your priority is functionality.
But really - all up to personal taste, there is no right or wrong here. As LONG as you make sure whatever you buy is of proper quality, of course. 🪩.
#2, but with the speakers nowhere near the record player so the vibrations don’t affect the tonearm.
Speakers either side on stands if possible for the best stereo separation. They could be on the cabinet but would need to be isolated
I have the first one- can’t recommend it enough. The storage is becoming an issue, but I plan on getting a bookshelf for additional space.
The ability to close everything up when needed is great as I have small kids. Also the fact that the deck sits below where your speakers would be placed helps eliminate vibrations.
I reread and and they are some errors I want to clarify
1.i want a gallery wall with 10 pictures related to music and vinyls
2.coffee table books not coffee book tables
Second one for sure
Second one. Space for records is essential.
#2
I had the first one, it served me well until two of the legs snapped off in a move and it’s not repairable.

#2 but so much wrong with that picture. Speakers placed right next to each other. No amp in sight.
I was wondering the same thing like whyyy are the speakers right next to each other!
Same lol!
Second, I perfect everything to be open and visible.
Number 2
Whichever one you prefer.
2
I also like 2

*2*
second one would be more ideal in terms of storage and also more space to display trinkets 🤪
2
First one for me. I have a small space and that would fit better but I like it better too.
If you have cats; get the first but for expansion the second one
Definitely second.
Second one no question
The hand painting

Could I get a link to the one on the right please

Where are they made? I cannot find a decent solid wood one that can hold 800 records that is under2k so I’m planning on making one myself.

Books under the cabinet wtf lol

Who makes the second one ? I like it.

Two
Number one if you don’t care about listening and accessing and havigg be space for your records, #2 if you do.
second

Tough call. I like seeing them so I would go 2.
I had #1 and it started to buckle under the weight of my collection and the sliding doors would no longer work properly or stay closed. Avoid.
I like the size of the second but will definitely need something with doors to keep my cats out of the records

Second one
Second - I love having vinyl collections exposed like that
#1 is for a vinyl dabbler #2 is for a vinyl enthusiast
I got something like the second one: https://www.mybobs.com/furniture/living-room/tv-stands-media-centers/p/20083056001 Then I just removed the doors
I can't believe how anyone in this sub can possibly recommend option 2 based on the speaker position. Fuck that company and their staging people.

The first one with number 2's turntable and speakers.
