It was an earlier KMFDM record: Angst.
I had no clue. It ended up being one of my all time favorites.
Even it they’re not your thing, their album cover art is god-tier.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor- Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven.
I had pocket money, went in to Best Buy, and randomly picked the album up. Life changing.
I did the same thing with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - No More Shall We Part, and Morphine - Good.
I’ve hade some amazing luck with album cover based choices.
Morphine “Good” is awesome. I just picked up “The Night” the other day. My first Morphine buy on vinyl. Thought it was interesting that they went with double album at 45. So only a couple songs on each side. Lots of flipping, but it sounds great.
Iron maidens first album, when I seen it at a record store. Just because of the cool artwork . I didn't know who they were then. When I took it home to play it, I was glad that I liked it. Then a couple years later I seen them open up for Judas Priest.
Love Space Ritual became a life long fan after purchasing it. Then saw them live at the Academy of Music. 14th street ,NYC. They where ahead of their as the venue was half empty
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway

The best Neil Young album not by Neil Young, btw
Killing Joke- Laugh? I Nearly Bought One
Had no idea who this band was. Thought the cover was hilarious/ridiculous. Turns out it was a “Best of” for a band whom I love.
Lost In The Dream- The War On Drugs. Saw it on the “new release” shelf back in 2014 and liked the cover, read the stellar reviews it had that were also on the cover. Ended up working its way into my top 10 favorite albums ever. It was everything I didn’t know I needed to hear
https://preview.redd.it/40yswvwmj25d1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41a35f5fccaa4ea7b6ce1e84d36901140e5e64e4
Spleen and Ideal is the second studio album by Australian band Dead Can Dance. It was released on 25 November 1985 by 4AD. The album spearheaded the group's sonic transition from their post-punk and gothic rock-influenced roots towards a neoclassical dark wave style.
Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother. I was a kid and bought it at a yard sale for probably a buck. I didn't know who Pink Floyd was at the time. Gave it to my dad who had a turntable and pretty impressive record collection but oddly enough didn't already have that album.
I thought a cover with just a cow in a field was a super cool image.
I like the album, but I like the cover better, lol.
For anyone that doesn’t know the Baroness singer/guitarist/band leader John Dyer Baizley does all the art himself and for a while was the go to artist for a ton of other metal bands. He did some great covers for the likes of Kverlertak, Pig Destroyer, Black Tusk and Skeletonwitch.

I mean. C’mon! How do you not buy this?
It’s good, but not great.
Prog-pop is about the best description I can come up with. Boston meets Rush, but somehow less.
There’s the bones of something great in there, but it’s lacking the edge needed to take it to the top.
Not the cover but I bought Living Colour - Vivid because of a review in free music magazine, distributed at my college. I had never heard of the band and never heard a song before buying, but it turned out to be one of the best albums of all time.
Not a band but a composer the Children of a Lesser God (Soundtrack) by Michael Convertino easily in my top 5 movie soundtracks ever
https://preview.redd.it/eh9ptvsjt15d1.jpeg?width=980&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dee6a5ef973f90b131f50359bbd21caeeeb64044
I’ve got a handful but the two that immediately come to mind:
Frijid Pink by Frijid Pink - found it in the bargain bin, it was this cool looking, bright pink album cover, so I snagged it. Turned out to be an awesome psychedelic rock album
Down to Middle Earth by The Hobbits - never heard of the band before but the cover looked super cool and I love Lord of the Rings, so I snagged it. Turned out to be a really fun psych pop album from the late-60s
Here’s the Frijid Pink cover for reference
https://preview.redd.it/iumf96e1x15d1.jpeg?width=276&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5e75b909a6f8e46121e23ac327a5959da0e51fc
RX5 - Alvin Lee
it has a sweeeeeeeet robot playing guitar and it was in the 5 dollar bin so I said screw it, absolutely love that album. Turns out the guy who designed it was the same guy who did the bulk of Iron Maidens covers too
Coquelicot Asleep In The Poppies: of Montreal (2001)
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea: Neutral Milk Hotel (1998)
Both around the time of release and purchased from Love Garden Sounds (my favorite local record store growing up).
Kasabian's self titled debut. I was in best buy with my buddy and saw the cover and needed it.
Not the same, but in 1994 a friend was oversees with his family. He was 9 at the time and saw Oasis in a small bar. Came back talking about them. I saw definitely maybe with my dad and bought it one day. Life altering for me after that
Dreadzone - Second Light. I have NO other albums of this genre but I absolutely love this album. I just picked it off a shelf at a record store having never heard of them or the album, and I have no idea why. Glad I did.
Eighteen Visions: Self titled (2006)
Airborne Toxic Event: Self titled (2008)
Bought as an angsty teen, but pleasantly surprised by how much I still enjoy the music now
UB40 - Rat in the Kitchen, found it cheap and mint condition in a thrift store, had never heard of them and I'm not usually much of a fan of reggae but the art in this album is so cool I almost had to buy it, decent music too
https://preview.redd.it/2xf0c1e0f35d1.jpeg?width=907&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca2f3313cb2cd27448e8e7567c63545576e8af9e
Look at it, I would hang this on my wall if it were an actual painting

Yuck - Yuck, expected shitty band, got one whole amazingly great album
The Damned. The black album. Ended up being one of my all time favorites I still remember the moment nearly 40 years ago finding it in the record bin in a record store in the west village NYC
https://preview.redd.it/9o3pw0kt555d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66dfe4f2e6c04e48d9837c47e02cc199f899ba52
Martha And The Muffins - This Is The Ice Age
To this day, in my top 5 albums..
Mo Roots Taj Mahal
It’s funky, it’s rockin, it’s groovy, it’s irie, it’s black, it’s Cajun, it’s American, it’s danceable, it’s pretty, it’s jamming.
https://preview.redd.it/tr32ul98o65d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=140db01c0af1c6fecbe84e7d345dd4b77d97bf45
My older brother saw the album Seven by James. The name of the band (which is my first name) is what first caught his attention. He thought it was worth a try. He loved it, and shared it with me. It’s one of my favorite albums.
The X-rays - Double Godzilla With Cheese
Who could pass up a name like that? And it just so happened that I was entering my garage punk listening prime. Perfect
White Zombie La Sexorcisto Devil Music Volume 1. Back then, CD’s were packaged in like foot long cardboard boxes. They were great for adorning the walls of my teenaged bedroom. It was in the metal section of Peaches. I’d love to hear a remaster of that album because it’s great, but the sound engineering isn’t.
Bloodgood self titled. Saw it a few weeks ago st a flea market and didn’t get it then but bought it today. Sounds really good and they remind me of Helloween.
Finds like this make up a good portion of my collection. Highlights include
Floydband - I Burped and Puke Came Out My Nose
Jackie Ross - Full Bloom
Fad Gadget - Gag
The Resisters - Slutrock
Icicle Works
Fiends - We’ve Come for Your Beer
The American Ruse - Death By The Gun. 80s Punk, love it. Quite rare, I can never find it to stream (for free) anywhere. I bought the album after seeing some dude wearing a t-shirt of the band in an old tv interview. Internet rabbit holes can lead to these cool things. Nobody I talk to has ever heard of them though!
https://preview.redd.it/dcb1ncpnd35d1.jpeg?width=3396&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=671d21453535c723712d7d11643ddd5529fb3c96

Ghinzu-Blow Belgian indie rock that opened the world of Belgian rock for me eventually discovered Evil Superstars who ended up taking the crown but I still like this album.
Also Neutral Milk Hotel's In the aeroplane over the sea.
The debut from RATM. I saw the picture of the burning monk and had no context or knowledge behind that picture and thought it was an original artwork. I bought the album intrigued by the artwork. I remember listening to the album for the first time and thinking to myself what the fuck is this? This is so so good!
Dead Kennedy's Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death
https://preview.redd.it/e2bglrwxp35d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74304d8b1f9fc2f295a8565fbea8f752a2677e36
My two favorites are probably Earthbound by The 5th Dimension and Spellbound by Spellbound. The song Lean On Me Always off the 5th Dimension album has gone on to be one of my all time favorite songs
There’s been a few for me over the years, but Linkin Park: Hybrid Theory was probably the most notable. I picked it up from Best Buy bc I thought the name and album cover were cool.
https://preview.redd.it/x9e8ys5pa45d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c43b125c13f26ddc4e31512c71b797c5021e88fb
Jane’s Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual. Changed everything for me musically, although weirdly it took me a while to get onboard with Perry’s vocals.
Also TIL papier maché nudity is enough to trigger the NSFW bot, so here's the censored cover instead, which was not the version that caught my eye as a kid.
Hellnation - Your Chaos Days Are Numbered. found it in either the punk or metal section, i can't remember... the back cover had the full list of 37 songs, and only two of them were over a minute long. that's when i knew i had to get it
https://preview.redd.it/dj78t14zm45d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c527644fb4174bb61e4b523afee0ee97eca32602
Nordic Nomadic. Definitely a favorite.
it has secured a spot into my late night and early morning jams.
https://preview.redd.it/dzqpwn1ks45d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12fed9e4adb08e6a9093b784504c858a31f1bbbd
Bird Nest Roys Flying Nun Records I knew of the label and I bet it was Kiwi Pop inspired from the sixties by looking at the album. I was floored when listening to it.
Mirage by Camel
I picked that album because it looked like a pack of smokes and found it hilarious. Didn't expect it to be something special, yet I bought it.
When I put the needle on I loved it pretty much instantly.
Back in 99 my brother and I saw the Slipknot CD. It looked bizarre and once we saw the Roadrunner label…we said “no way it’s going to blow”.
I’ll never forget the looks on our faces when we played it! Epic!
Klaatu... can't remember the album title, but the cover was actual art, and the music really quite entertaining. They also apparently put out an album that sounded so much like the Beatles that many thought it was an actual Beatles album lol.
https://preview.redd.it/y5y9alxj855d1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eee64f808a352f3b2b3b8e16f164305fc51356c
Manmade God. Really loved this album cover, couldn't resist.
Recently it was This Could Be Texas by English Teacher. Never heard of the band at the time but I really liked the cover, and now it’s one of my favorite releases of the year already.
When I was a teenager I didn't know who Emerson Lake and Palmer was (even though I knew King Crimson lol). My friend and I saw a copy of Tarkus. Has a giant armadillo tank on the front. Couldn't say no to that. Feel pretty stupid not knowing who they were in hindsight
Bought a CD of Revocation’s Deathless and they ended up becoming one of my favorites. The album was cool as shit. I bought it with no clue as to who they were or how they sounded.
Same thing With Avatar’s Hail the Apocalypse. Now I have seen and met Avatar.( Pretty cool dudes)
The Spotify album cover is different than the one that was on the CD, but ["Violence is Golden" by Scanners ](https://open.spotify.com/album/6SdsKxTsMr2xEILvdDMcd9?si=01suWf8DQv2GkNh3Lq04xA) is such an incredible album. I used to go to this music store and they had a "Buy 3 get 1 free" deal, so my buddy and I grabbed that as our free, and I remember listening to it on the way home and being blown away at how good it was. Dancy, catchy, kind of gothy, good mix of electronic and the garage rock revival kind of stuff that was going on at the time.
I didn’t know of the connection to the Residents at the time, but loved the cover and ended up buying everything I could get.
https://preview.redd.it/wb67vul6265d1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f0e0713949c87a240101e99f8e957b5b5554535
City Boy -- Dinner at the Ritz. It's not the most striking cover by any means, but something about it stuck out to me. Alongside Deep Purple's Machine Head, it was one of my first albums I bought alongside my first turntable (a used Yamaha P-26) and it's still one of my favorite albums, along with it being one of my favorite examples of what made me fall in love with physical musical media. It's a lot easier to find those random bands you've never heard of when flipping through music store bins compared to streaming services.
Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentlemen we are floating in Space Worked in a cd store when it released and came across this when stocking it.
https://preview.redd.it/y6bsl6cq565d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80a94d94c30bcc6074171f523dd4aed098056930
Shit! Back in the 80s, growing up in a small town in the boonies we didn't have rock radio and all our info came from metal and rock magazines. So all the good shit like Ride the Lighting, Peace Sells, Spreading the Disease, Speak English or Die, Reign in Blood, etc, even fucking GnR was unheard of. We bought most of it from album art on ads or just what we saw in the stores. Wound up with a lot of great stuff but some real turds too! 😂
The first Toadies album. Never heard of them at the time and I was in a tape shop in Boston in the 90s. Picked it up because of the cover and liked the name do the songs so blind bought it. Been rockin it ever since
"Twin Plagues" by the band Wednesday. Lovely album, my introduction to the band. I saw them live a little while ago and got my copy of their first album signed.

Pypy - Pagan Day. Bought it because of the cover, now it's one of my favorites. This one rips -- great mix of psych/garage rock.

This. Blood, Sweat & Tears-Blood, Sweat & Tears 3. Never heard of them before, bought this and their 2:d LP (the self titled) both are fantastic, actually all their albums are. Sadly their considered a “cover band” and they are mostly that but some own compositions to.
*
Back in 1982, I was in a record store in Costa Mesa, CA. As I was looking thru the stacks of vinyl, the album Rose Tattoo caught my eye. I gave it a try, and I was blown away by how good it was.
They are from Australia and sound very much like AC/DC.
They kick ass. I still like listening to the album.
https://preview.redd.it/0nj0gcxs9a5d1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=910cf7c6b04bd3f66f6bb341f34f56d62d38ae70
Unsolved by Karate. Saw the record at my store and it reminded me of OK Computer, so I grabbed it. A masterpiece of slow core and jazz that sent me down the rabbit hole of their discography. They are now one of my favorite bands. I guess sometimes it’s good to judge a book by it’s cover.
I got a Don Nix album which I don't recall the name, but it was on Shelter records. Insane album and artist. I got his autobiography and it was incredible. From early Memphis/Stax associations to Leon Russell and the concert for Bangladesh. Hanging with George Harrison, the guy did it all and is a complete unknown.
It was an earlier KMFDM record: Angst. I had no clue. It ended up being one of my all time favorites. Even it they’re not your thing, their album cover art is god-tier. https://preview.redd.it/evnnsclcn15d1.jpeg?width=628&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6bed64325c3a41aa139fe53c59c4d7926c271599
Stronger than ever like never before!
No majority for the pity! Love their work and their art is always interesting.
❤️❤️❤️

Underboob
it’s such a rare find nowadays, you had a great eye!
Re-issue with 15 unreleased tracks up for pre order today!!
Amazing that we live in a world where Godspeed You! Black Emperor can be found in a Best Buy. Like your taste.
And this was back in the early 2000s. Once I learned about Godspeed’s politics, it became very funny to me that I found it there.
Morphine “Good” is awesome. I just picked up “The Night” the other day. My first Morphine buy on vinyl. Thought it was interesting that they went with double album at 45. So only a couple songs on each side. Lots of flipping, but it sounds great.
This is easy: Roxy Music, Country Life. Bought it for the t*ts, kept it for the tunes.
you can say "tits" on reddit.
I won a Roxy album in an auction for like $2 and it was a fun one!
They're amazing - their worst album is better than most other bands' best. I'm lucky that I stumbled into them!

It originally came wrapped in solid green shrink wrap when it was first released. What a great surprise when I opened it and saw the cover!
Nothing but Thieves self titled album.
Fucking banger of an album

Iron maidens first album, when I seen it at a record store. Just because of the cool artwork . I didn't know who they were then. When I took it home to play it, I was glad that I liked it. Then a couple years later I seen them open up for Judas Priest.
Hawkwind- space ritual
Hawkwind is seriously underrated. While I didn't discover them in this particular manner, I did stumble upon them and was blown away!
Love Space Ritual became a life long fan after purchasing it. Then saw them live at the Academy of Music. 14th street ,NYC. They where ahead of their as the venue was half empty

Fantastic album. Shame he’s such a dick! And depending on the pressing, ‘worth’ a fair bit too!
Pretty much every record released on the 4AD record label in the 1980s.
You got the Sort Sol - Marble Station 7”? Amazing
Nonpoint - Development
Killing Joke- Laugh? I Nearly Bought One Had no idea who this band was. Thought the cover was hilarious/ridiculous. Turns out it was a “Best of” for a band whom I love.
Nice! I have a couple KJs in my collection! ❤️
Love that band
Lost In The Dream- The War On Drugs. Saw it on the “new release” shelf back in 2014 and liked the cover, read the stellar reviews it had that were also on the cover. Ended up working its way into my top 10 favorite albums ever. It was everything I didn’t know I needed to hear

That's pretty cool tho! My folks were also big PF fans 🙂
Bought a cheap beat up copy to put on the wall!
Baroness All their vinyls have amazing artwork and their music fucking rules
For anyone that doesn’t know the Baroness singer/guitarist/band leader John Dyer Baizley does all the art himself and for a while was the go to artist for a ton of other metal bands. He did some great covers for the likes of Kverlertak, Pig Destroyer, Black Tusk and Skeletonwitch.
The Durutti column – valuable passages
First heard them on a 7” on the Sordide Sentimental label. I think Circuses and Bread is my favorite LP.

It’s good, but not great. Prog-pop is about the best description I can come up with. Boston meets Rush, but somehow less. There’s the bones of something great in there, but it’s lacking the edge needed to take it to the top.

Uriah heep-demons and wizards The moody blues-on the threshold of a dream
The Pictish Trail - Secret Soundz Vol. 1 & 2 (2x12", LP, Compilation) on Fence Records 2013.
Future Echoes on RSD pulled me in after having never heard them.
Elder - Reflections of a Floating World *I pulled up one song to be fair
I don’t listen to metal much, but Elder is probably my favorite metal band. Just really good music.
For sure. Omens came out at the peak of the lock downs and it felt like going to a different planet.
Great album

RX5 - Alvin Lee it has a sweeeeeeeet robot playing guitar and it was in the 5 dollar bin so I said screw it, absolutely love that album. Turns out the guy who designed it was the same guy who did the bulk of Iron Maidens covers too
I might have to add this to my watchlist! 😁
Marianne Faithfull - Broken English
Coquelicot Asleep In The Poppies: of Montreal (2001) In The Aeroplane Over The Sea: Neutral Milk Hotel (1998) Both around the time of release and purchased from Love Garden Sounds (my favorite local record store growing up).
Aphex Twin — Richard D James album
Kasabian's self titled debut. I was in best buy with my buddy and saw the cover and needed it. Not the same, but in 1994 a friend was oversees with his family. He was 9 at the time and saw Oasis in a small bar. Came back talking about them. I saw definitely maybe with my dad and bought it one day. Life altering for me after that
Dreadzone - Second Light. I have NO other albums of this genre but I absolutely love this album. I just picked it off a shelf at a record store having never heard of them or the album, and I have no idea why. Glad I did.
I'd love a copy of that album on vinyl.
Jade Warrior : Last Autumns Dream
Eighteen Visions: Self titled (2006) Airborne Toxic Event: Self titled (2008) Bought as an angsty teen, but pleasantly surprised by how much I still enjoy the music now
UB40 - Rat in the Kitchen, found it cheap and mint condition in a thrift store, had never heard of them and I'm not usually much of a fan of reggae but the art in this album is so cool I almost had to buy it, decent music too https://preview.redd.it/2xf0c1e0f35d1.jpeg?width=907&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca2f3313cb2cd27448e8e7567c63545576e8af9e Look at it, I would hang this on my wall if it were an actual painting
This is an awesome song though!!
Yes, Rat in Me Kitchen is my favourite song on the album
https://preview.redd.it/em2lnepyp35d1.jpeg?width=316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=847c51ee9c2415c04250285a43d1ea29599a66ff Yuck - Yuck, expected shitty band, got one whole amazingly great album
French Press by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever
The Damned. The black album. Ended up being one of my all time favorites I still remember the moment nearly 40 years ago finding it in the record bin in a record store in the west village NYC
Menomena - Friend and Foe
https://preview.redd.it/9o3pw0kt555d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66dfe4f2e6c04e48d9837c47e02cc199f899ba52 Martha And The Muffins - This Is The Ice Age
Dream Syndicate - Medicine Show
Ozric Tentacles - Jurassic Shift
Baja Marimba Band.
Death Grips - No Love Deep Web (iykyk)
Crazy Pink Revolvers- First Down! I was just looking for a cheap vinyl and was flipping randomly through the crate and found it.
To this day, in my top 5 albums.. Mo Roots Taj Mahal It’s funky, it’s rockin, it’s groovy, it’s irie, it’s black, it’s Cajun, it’s American, it’s danceable, it’s pretty, it’s jamming. https://preview.redd.it/tr32ul98o65d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=140db01c0af1c6fecbe84e7d345dd4b77d97bf45
Such a good one! Cajun Waltz is insane!
Extreme Pornografitti in my opinion the best hard rock album ever
My older brother saw the album Seven by James. The name of the band (which is my first name) is what first caught his attention. He thought it was worth a try. He loved it, and shared it with me. It’s one of my favorite albums.
Great album
The X-rays - Double Godzilla With Cheese Who could pass up a name like that? And it just so happened that I was entering my garage punk listening prime. Perfect
https://preview.redd.it/xrxxj11ao15d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=180241d444a78fdad5a193a7a647ae0f65d15c9f God bless the flea market
Didn’t exist in the 80s twisted sister
The Leslie Drayton Orchestra-Turning A Corner. Super solid jazz-funk fusion album. The album cover is also very badass.
The Del Fuegos Boston Mass...album cover isn't even that cool, but my gut told me to buy it.
https://preview.redd.it/xzk2g1f6925d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa4bd9f8c9cbd72333af08fdcb6030c1d5f041fb

Unfortunately never got a vinyl release, but Kingdoms by Broadway.
Manowar- Kings of Metal
Khemmis
White Zombie La Sexorcisto Devil Music Volume 1. Back then, CD’s were packaged in like foot long cardboard boxes. They were great for adorning the walls of my teenaged bedroom. It was in the metal section of Peaches. I’d love to hear a remaster of that album because it’s great, but the sound engineering isn’t.
Called a longbox. Made to fit the record shelves so stores didn’t have to get new ones for CDs
The Power Station - The Power Station
Demons and Wizards - Uriah Heep
Bloodgood self titled. Saw it a few weeks ago st a flea market and didn’t get it then but bought it today. Sounds really good and they remind me of Helloween.
Finds like this make up a good portion of my collection. Highlights include Floydband - I Burped and Puke Came Out My Nose Jackie Ross - Full Bloom Fad Gadget - Gag The Resisters - Slutrock Icicle Works Fiends - We’ve Come for Your Beer
I do this a lot, but the best so far: Moho - He Visto La Cruz Al Reves
Tarkio by Brewer and Shipley 40 Blue Fingers… by Chicken Shack
Suicide Commandos - Make a Record Great name, looked cool. Played the absolute hell out of it.
The Disconnection by Carina Round
Painkiller by Judas Priest
The American Ruse - Death By The Gun. 80s Punk, love it. Quite rare, I can never find it to stream (for free) anywhere. I bought the album after seeing some dude wearing a t-shirt of the band in an old tv interview. Internet rabbit holes can lead to these cool things. Nobody I talk to has ever heard of them though! https://preview.redd.it/dcb1ncpnd35d1.jpeg?width=3396&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=671d21453535c723712d7d11643ddd5529fb3c96

Also Neutral Milk Hotel's In the aeroplane over the sea.

Black Sabbath - Never Say Die (really)
The debut from RATM. I saw the picture of the burning monk and had no context or knowledge behind that picture and thought it was an original artwork. I bought the album intrigued by the artwork. I remember listening to the album for the first time and thinking to myself what the fuck is this? This is so so good!
Piece of Mind, Iron Maiden.
Wet tuna - warping all by yourself
https://preview.redd.it/1mb7qi5fo35d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb5fe34794bcaebfba395307c50a532125fd3f69

Infämes second album I believe infäme ii sick hxc
My two favorites are probably Earthbound by The 5th Dimension and Spellbound by Spellbound. The song Lean On Me Always off the 5th Dimension album has gone on to be one of my all time favorite songs
Mukimukimanmansu - 2012
There’s been a few for me over the years, but Linkin Park: Hybrid Theory was probably the most notable. I picked it up from Best Buy bc I thought the name and album cover were cool.
Gove Scrivenor - Shady Gove
https://preview.redd.it/x9e8ys5pa45d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c43b125c13f26ddc4e31512c71b797c5021e88fb Jane’s Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual. Changed everything for me musically, although weirdly it took me a while to get onboard with Perry’s vocals. Also TIL papier maché nudity is enough to trigger the NSFW bot, so here's the censored cover instead, which was not the version that caught my eye as a kid.
Madonna. “ Like a virgin” when it came, and I did to.. (joke! The last part)
Hellnation - Your Chaos Days Are Numbered. found it in either the punk or metal section, i can't remember... the back cover had the full list of 37 songs, and only two of them were over a minute long. that's when i knew i had to get it
https://preview.redd.it/dj78t14zm45d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c527644fb4174bb61e4b523afee0ee97eca32602 Nordic Nomadic. Definitely a favorite. it has secured a spot into my late night and early morning jams.
https://images.app.goo.gl/VEJZ6kDEfneg2fDD7 Was on sale, so why not. Turned out to be some amazing triphop.
Alice Cooper - Love It To Death
https://preview.redd.it/dzqpwn1ks45d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12fed9e4adb08e6a9093b784504c858a31f1bbbd Bird Nest Roys Flying Nun Records I knew of the label and I bet it was Kiwi Pop inspired from the sixties by looking at the album. I was floored when listening to it.
in 2003, I bought "Lateralus" by Tool because of Jack from " The Osbournes" Woow, that took me on a ride I didnt expect
Lenny White's The Adventures of Astral Pirates! My second most-beloved fusion record after Romantic Warrior.
Sloan - Twice Removed. Found it in a bargain bin in the 90's and have been a fan ever since.
Mirage by Camel I picked that album because it looked like a pack of smokes and found it hilarious. Didn't expect it to be something special, yet I bought it. When I put the needle on I loved it pretty much instantly.
https://preview.redd.it/hs3zx5i0355d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79f1de88034f41cf6d61fa2c24d7028c6114efd9
Steely Dans Can’t Buy a Thrill in 1972.
They also apparently put out an album that sounded so much like the Beatles that many thought it was an actual Beatles album lol.
https://preview.redd.it/y5y9alxj855d1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eee64f808a352f3b2b3b8e16f164305fc51356c Manmade God.

Mt Joy- self titled debut album.

Too many to list
Blue Oyster Cult. The first album. Was stoned out of my mind and ended up loving it.
the bends - radiohead
https://preview.redd.it/yrn3s539w55d1.jpeg?width=1822&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4277378fe9ba823abc94ad0b789ea9460e51f095
Same day still 2 of my favorites The Queers-Don’t Back Down Leftover Salmon-Ask the fish live
Been rockin it ever since
Yes!!!! Nice Score!
"Twin Plagues" by the band Wednesday. Lovely album, my introduction to the band. I saw them live a little while ago and got my copy of their first album signed. https://preview.redd.it/2fs83214865d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d65377bcf9de52b39253216385ec7382a8c7b74f
Memoirs at the end of the world
The Buggles - Adventures in Modern Recording. Outrageously pretentious album but Trevor Horn was a real visionary
https://preview.redd.it/2t1w0f2pk65d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4facfdb2b05c1516b84f033e47027d798e52556
Windowlicker by Aphex Twin. I always heard about what amazing music he made, but it was Richard's AMAZING tits that got me to buy the record.
Sparks - Angst In My Pants
Not a band but, Goddess by BANKS. An amazing debut.
Hurry Up & Wait by Dune Rats (album art is very cool, but got it for the zoetrope)
Ape Skull, italian psych rock band. Amazing work
Pypy - Pagan Day. Bought it because of the cover, now it's one of my favorites. This one rips -- great mix of psych/garage rock. https://preview.redd.it/ppmn935qd75d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e13ae74dbfd83a6a9da23fa752d2280ea338f4a

Never heard of them before, bought this and their 2:d LP (the self titled) both are fantastic, actually all their albums are. Sadly their considered a “cover band” and they are mostly that but some own compositions to.
Life, Sex and Death - by Cult Of Fire.
* Back in 1982, I was in a record store in Costa Mesa, CA. As I was looking thru the stacks of vinyl, the album Rose Tattoo caught my eye. I gave it a try, and I was blown away by how good it was. They are from Australia and sound very much like AC/DC. They kick ass. I still like listening to the album.
Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
https://preview.redd.it/0nj0gcxs9a5d1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=910cf7c6b04bd3f66f6bb341f34f56d62d38ae70 Unsolved by Karate. Saw the record at my store and it reminded me of OK Computer, so I grabbed it. A masterpiece of slow core and jazz that sent me down the rabbit hole of their discography. They are now one of my favorite bands. I guess sometimes it’s good to judge a book by it’s cover.
Adding that to my wish list as we speak
Fleet Foxes' debut.
I bought Spliff/85555 while trawling through World Of Music in Nurnberg. I thought it was a funny name. It's become one of my treasured albums.
Never heard of them. What kind of music is it?
Early 80s German pop/rock, but kinda chill. Easy to find on YouTube.
Eric B & Rakim-Paid in Full
I got a Don Nix album which I don't recall the name, but it was on Shelter records. Insane album and artist. I got his autobiography and it was incredible. From early Memphis/Stax associations to Leon Russell and the concert for Bangladesh. Hanging with George Harrison, the guy did it all and is a complete unknown.
Yeah, I never heard of him... Definitely going to check him out!
