One?

-NittanyLion-

one of many

MikeComeBackToLA

Anything by Ween that doesn’t cost at least $100.

whatsupwithurface

I got a copy of The Mollusk on Amazon around 6 years ago for like $12. Have never been able to find anything else for a reasonable price.

Valeclitorian1979

Quebec was on Amazon a couple years ago for $25, i had the money, i assumed it was back on sale so i thought "i'll get it soon"... big regrets

Intelligent-Sir1375

Used to be tool aenima until I up my arbitrate rule of only 100$ on a record lol

MKE1969

MKE1969

Proper. Thanks Friend.

ethadonald1

I found a really clean one on eBay the other day

manwiththehex18

I actually just found one that fit that category: Beast from the East, by Dokken. Been looking for it for years, but just never had any luck finding it until a week ago. Next on that list would probably be A Night at the Met by Robin Williams.

ProgramAppropriate97

Seaweed- Spanaway.

Ok_Food_7511

Say I Am You by the Weepies.

PittieYawn

Their music is simply beautiful and sadly the vinyl is outrageous $$$

Pierre_Barouh

I somehow got this for $30 a few years ago…. One of my most prized rekkids

-NittanyLion-

Rory Gallagher - Irish Tour '74 ...1st pressing...in my possession 30 minutes ago. I like to hunt in the wild...record stores are too tamed for me. https://preview.redd.it/5m7ow9s3je5d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a9bcf164a839a93f3b6a579dfd1ba1964ae87d5 Bam! Five buck chuck.

littleneedyneddy

Walk on hot coals followed by Who's that coming is a treat for the senses. A superb no nonsense man.

-NittanyLion-

A Million Miles Away with a nice drink in hand will do the trick as well.

littleneedyneddy

An incredible piece of music, always loved the pinch harmonic picking of the strings on A Million Miles Away. I listened to 74 tour last night, also spun Rory's 1st Taste album. I went into a frenzy when Sugar Mama came on. The real deal.

Purple1829

The Gits - Frenching the Bully I’ve managed to track down two copies of Enter the Conquering Chicken, but can’t find that one

Atticus_907

Me too. Same record exactly.

Purple1829

I keep eyeing the one that is $175 on Discogs, but I just love the experience of having a white whale to always look for. Enter the Conquering Chicken is my favorite all time record, and I searched every single store I went into for years upon years. Now I still check the G’s for Frenching the bully. I have all the 7 inches, the Evil Stig 7 inch, and the Dancing French Liberals of 48 album, but this one eludes me

deadmanstar60

There have been many but I go every week to used record stores so the list just smaller every year. At the moment it's Street Songs by Rick James. Very common album on vinyl (used copies go for $20 on discogs) but so far no luck in the local stores near me. Edit: Found one today. Too bad it wasn't still $8.99. https://preview.redd.it/4se2n8reqs6d1.jpeg?width=840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73eaf9dd81596ac718368a3acbe0334e0e251d29

-NittanyLion-

Yeah found his earlier albums in the wild but can't seem to get my hands on Street Songs. There are too many hunters now.

deadmanstar60

Found one today. Still in the shrink. Too bad it wasn't still $8.99. https://preview.redd.it/a2zxyrn5qs6d1.jpeg?width=840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c68ad5286d7304c1df85d2992f630b985ac550d

Miserable_Wrap_4914

Congratulations 🎉🍾🎊

deadmanstar60

It's a keeper. I showed a picture of it to a coworker and he had never heard of it before but was so intrigued by the cover he looked it up on Spotify.

mastakhan

Killer record.

HORSE the Band - Pizza EP

BiggsDB

“Happiness Is Being With the Spinners” by The Spinners. I can easily get it through DisCogs, but I frequent enough record shops and swaps that I wanted to “come by it honestly.” It’s been 3 years, and HONESTLY it’s a little frustrating.

Miserable_Wrap_4914

Yeah. This is what I’m talking about! At 43 I can’t believe Iron Maiden is now considered a mild prog band. But it’s their rare cover of Maiden Japan that I lust. I could go online and pay the overinflated price a seller or two are asking, I’m sure. Or hunt for what I perceive as a fair market price (or at least what it’s worth to me). And I’ve seen it at “that price” I have in mind once or twice but ultimately waited too long. It’s frustrating but that’s what also makes it fun!

-NittanyLion-

You can't put a price on when you flipped through all those records then suddenly...oh sh!t can this be the day...pulled the record out...damn it all scratched up...faaaaaak! whhhhyyyy me!..still thinking about it for weeks. But but I can get it on the Internet...naahhhhh!

Miserable_Wrap_4914

Yes! This! This was the spirit of my question! Thank you so much!

gizlizard

Compulsion- andrew hill Conference of the birds - dave holland

Fallom_TO

I saw someone post conference of the birds a couple of months ago, probably in the vinyl jazz sub. Very jealous.

kasualanderson

Kool & the Gang - Light of Worlds. I could order it from someone, but I’m hoping to find it someday in a shop.

Reesepacito

Any venetian snares record, every record store I go to has a venetian snares or breakcore section but is always out

PAXM73

Mansfield.TYA’s Twenty Years After. 1000 copies on Bandcamp and finally found after years of trying. Posting on message boards. Posting on Reddit asking if someone would part with it. One attempted scam on Reddit. And then someone who I don’t *think* was an actually trying to scam me, but just really flaked out after I bought it. They communicated way too much for a scammer. Anyways, I got them banned from Discogs. Eventually, somebody else put it up for sale. Didn’t even realize they were that popular, but maybe they are in France and throughout Europe. So I guess this doesn’t quite fit the bill as it stopped eluding me finally. The great irony being that I think I enjoy listening to all of the other records more than this specific collection. Such is the way of the completist.

dallasdude

I want that first Kool n the gang can’t find one don’t want to buy it online, more fun to find one in the wild

rileypoole1234

Paul's Boutique. Never seen it in a record store, ever. Annoyingly hard to find.

deadmanstar60

One of my local record stores had a used copy. $200

citizen_of_europa

Rush - Caress of Steel. Still hoping for a re-release on 180g.

bmcmennamy

I have this one, great sounding release. https://www.discogs.com/release/6705408-Rush-Caress-Of-Steel

reddebian

Caress of Steel is such a masterpiece of an album, especially "The Fountain of Lamneth" - this album and this song was my intro to Rush

Atticus_907

I think it's crazy that someone else mentioned this album already, but my white whale is **'Frenching the Bully", by The Gits**. I grew up in Seattle at exactly this time, and the record is very personal for me. I've been chasing it for years. I offered a Discogs seller $500.00 for a copy a couple years ago, but I was apparently outbid. The waiting game continues... ArturoRimboldi

Many, but one that comes to mind is 24 Carats Black - Ghetto Misfortune’s Wealth.

Elegant-Technician24

Spiderland, Slint. Might give up and order it online

mcdrunkagain

Great album!  Are you familiar with the pre-Slint band Squirrel Bait?

Elegant-Technician24

I am not, will definitely have to check them out now though. Thanks for the rec!

The_Omnimonitor

This is always an odd question for me. There are many albums I want and some portion of those are albums I have never seen in person. However, I am positive if I really wanted to, I could fork out too much money and buy any of them online now. So, are those albums eluding me or is what I’m describing something else.

liviheare

Herb Alpert - Whipped Cream and Other Delights. Everyone says they find them constantly, and I've never seen one in the wild. Edit: grammar

devil_n_i

Smashing pumpkins Siamese Dream original cover color

indierockspockears

It's MCatIS for me, I've never been a huge fan of smashing pumpkins but i love that album.. it's just so expensive

Poop_Cheese

I used to own the 1st melon collie, was my absolute favorite album growing up.  However, outside of collectability/fan completionism, the current pressing is far far better. There's alot less inner groove distortion, and it's sonics are massively improved. I'm the biggest 1st pressing guy, but the original wasn't done well and was completely squashed to fit on 3 discs(ontop of adding 2 more songs). The fidelity is rough and noticeably drops towards the end of each disc since they crammed 20 minutes on each side. Hell 2 sides were close to 25 minutes. Not only that, the feel of the album is completely butchered since they changed the tracklist to squeeze all the songs onto the disc. Also, if they cut from tape, it would have definitely been a duplicate due to having to rearrange the songs, and being made in UK.  The addition of a fourth disc massively improved the sonics right off the bat. It went from the inner songs being heavily distorted to none at all. Its really well done in comparison, and ontop of that the remaster itself is great. I sold it because while a top 3 favorite album to me, the one that really got me into music, I just couldn't justify owning something so expensive that sounded worse than the remaster I had. The only reason i kept it so long was for tonight reprise and infinite sadness for completions sake. But I didn't have the money to justify holding onto it unfortunately, especially when both songs are just throwaway instrumentals.  I totally support buying one just as a fan, I wish I could have kept mine, just don't expect a better experience than the current remaster. I just mention this for people who may spend alot expecting something better than the current pressing. The only real value to it outside of collectibility is the novelty of hearing the album in a different tracklist plus the added instrumentals. However it's just not good, where I can't see anyone who owns both ever choosing the first one. It's one of the most noticeable improvements of a non audiophile pressing I've ever heard, the current remaster is the best it's ever been on vinyl.

devil_n_i

Yeah I hate they went that route. 100 for an album is crazy

deadmanstar60

I saw one last year in a local used record store but it was $400 so hard pass from me.

devil_n_i

Oh god! I’ve seen some on eBay for 150. Not sure if it’s the original but for that price it better be

Scotster123

I'm not telling you because if you see it you'll buy it and then I won't be able to buy it and then it will elude me forever and then I will be even sadderer.

Miserable_Wrap_4914

😂🫵🏼

MeltingParaiso

I feel you, I don't really want to post mine either since it has only been pressed once for a grand total of 300 copies.

Scotster123

Cool. Good luck! I was just kidding, hence the lack of punctuation and repetitive “and then”s.

Talosian_cagecleaner

How about class? Beatles albums. Of course I can be a citizen of the 21st century and pay for something but that is not what makes me happy. I like finding an "affordable" copy of a classic album. And The Beatles, not once have I scored. Not once. What I have is what I've had for decades and that's just how it is going to be until I go to join the choir celestial. I've given up on reasonable Beatles albums in the wild.

-NittanyLion-

"Wait"... don't give up. Last year, there was a guy ahead of me picked up an OG Rubber Soul and Meet The Beatles (I already have both) then walked away...the way he was looking at them I knew he wasn't a true music fan...I circled back later they were back in the stack. True fans don't give up that easy. I still see Beatles now and then.

Vorilex

Worldwide torture by Jazmin Bean and I Disagree by Poppy.

Extension_Patient_47

Disco Elysium OST by British Sea Power. 600-1200 dollars based on edition. And Oceania by Smashing pumpkins is 150 min used :(

LeBon_Bush

The Scarface OST. I'm getting closer and closer to just caving and buying it online.

SabbathBl00dySabbath

Two expensive RSD movie soundtracks Hackers & The Cable Guy

dgroove8

I found a really nice clean copy of Bound To Happen by William Bell for a steal. The package arrived cracked in half. I might never find it for that price again.

ninjahosk

I've been trying to find Usher's "Confessions" and Holst's "Second Suite in F" out in the wild. Trying to avoid going through Discogs.

VaderPrime1

Witchcraft - Legend. It was going for more than I was willing to pay about 2-3 years ago, then they did a 10yr anniversary re-press or something a little over a year ago and I completely missed it and only found out about a month ago.

Royal_Caribbean_Fan

A Beethovens Ninth Symphony record that doesn't sound like someone taped It to the bottom of their show and then ran a marathon

SavedByThe1990s

black crowes - by your side that thing just will not come up for reissue!

rosemarysbaby

Kraftwerk - Electric Café. It's not even a rare album; I just can't seem to ever find it in person.

JayAreEss

Freelance Whales - Weathervanes. Would punch a baby for a repress of this.

lemon-key-face

I will NEVER find an OG pressing of "terrifyer" by Pig destroyer. NEVER.

HickoryRanger

Recovering The Satellites, 1st pressing.

never0101

The past year I've been trying to land a copy of Girls. by Ballyhoo! It's the last one I need for their discography and it's apparently unobtainable.

disappointer

Sam Coomes - True Death This came out in 2020, limited to 300 copies, private press, no digital version. I'd like to just hear it once, even.

raaustin777

Walk On by Boston. I get that it was released in 1994 so there probably weren't many pressings.. but I've got the first three albums and want to complete the set! Preferably without spending over a hundred bucks or so

reddebian

- Love Maze by The Tempress - Save The Waves by The Surfdusters (music used in SpongeBob thought it'd be a cool nice vinyl)

backintheussr1

The social network OST

cubbies1973

I would have to say one of the most wanted albums is Van Halen's 1995 release of Balance. Can't find it for less than $100. Ebay has multiple original sealed copies for anywhere from 250 to 1000. I just got a sealed original copy of OU812 for $100 including shipping.

BarkaBarka21

Going Back To Brooklyn - Dave Van Ronk. I know I could order it online cheap, but I want to find it in the wild!

GregzillaKillah

Oysterhead - The Grand Pecking Order

I-STATE-FACTS

Zwan - Mary star of the sea

Dangerboy73

Motley Crüe self titled, that’s really the only one I’m looking for at the moment. But I don’t have an arm and leg to spare.

DrivingMishCrazy

I’ve lost in countless eBay auctions last minute for a copy of Tracy Chapman’s album

Romero1993

For the longest time, it was Nothing More's "first" album "The Few Not Fleeting" That is until, I found it.. *on their website*

Miserable_Wrap_4914

burnerthrowsway14131

Drake Bell - Ready Steady Go

pregnantcartifan

Death Note OST Volume 1

Dangerous-Tear-5353

Lou Reed : Rock and Roll Animal. I'm not sure if there has been a second pressing.

staggere

None so far. If I want a record I buy that record.

Gregalor

Internet marketplaces exist. How can “a vinyl” elude me?

saint_trane

Some things aren't readily available on online marketplaces and need to be searched/hunted for.

Miserable_Wrap_4914

Maybe the price wasn’t right. Maybe someone purchased it before you. Maybe you passed because you were $500 beyond your vinyl budget for the quarter. I realize this is the Internet where snark and confrontation is expected, but it doesn’t have to be.

BikeCritical4021

Also… I’ve bought stuff online, but I prefer the excitement of crate dipping. A first pressing of Metallica’s Kill ‘em All is one that springs to mind.

printerdsw1968

Plus hunting in the real world wilds affords one the chance to inspect the goods personally.

Miserable_Wrap_4914

Right! Boom! I love it! 🤘🏼🤤🤘🏼

No-Celebration6437

Personally, they elude me if there isn’t a copy available below $150.

Scaevola_books

None. I don't get this idea within the vinyl community. There's something called the internet. If I want an album there is no "struggle to find it." Do people really engage with this astronomically expensive hobby by limiting themselves to the albums they stumble across in stores? Wild. Edit to be clear I prefer crate digging too but I don't let not being able to find it at one of the few dozen shops near me prevent me from buying an album I love.

Fallom_TO

Delayed gratification is a thing. If I bought all of my wants online I could easily drop $20k and then have a huge pile of records without the time to properly enjoy them. Coming across them in stores is exciting. I found Squarepusher’s Ufabulum last week and I’m still smiling about it.

deadmanstar60

Poor grading by sellers on the internet. Nothing worse than buying a record online and getting a poorly graded album arrive in the mail. Also those mail carriers are rough sometimes with the records.

Miserable_Wrap_4914

It’s not unlike a kid who purchases a new video game and ramps up the difficulty to hardest. He could mow through the entire game on an easier setting and pat himself on the back, but he’s not that basic. He relishes the journey as well as the destination. 😃

Scaevola_books

Like I said I enjoy the journey and prefer shopping in person. But If I had limited myself to what I stumbled upon my collection would be a quarter the size.

Miserable_Wrap_4914

Agreed.
