Wont say the name, but it is someone listed in the credits... just follow album-making signal flow, last person to touch it before it goes to the plant.

A near mint + no skips Robert Ludwig "RL Hotmix" original press of Led Zeppelin II with a mint condition cover and inner sleeve. I've seen worse condition ones sell for $300+. Probably worth close to $400. Absolutely insane and all thanks to my mom!
a OG copy of Songs in the key of life with the booklet but minus the single. The vinyl was NM and the cover VG, cost me £0.25

Nirvana - Bleach original pressing radio station cut out promo for 10$ back in 2003. It has the radio station call letter written with a sharpie and ‘hardcore’ written on top. I like it because it is the their first message in a bottle they sent out to stations. The sleeve is beat up a little bit but the record is in great shape

That’s sick. I got a mint in shrink original Seeds debut LP at a yard sale in May, but I gave the lady $20 for it. No complaints. I need “Web of Sound”!
Man, I got their original album from a yard sale too for next to nothing. The people having the yard sale were selling their father’s old records. He worked as a DJ for a radio station in the 80s and I paid $20 for a box of mostly garbage, but it had that album as is.

Record itself is in mint shape, it was so cheap because the sleeve was damaged on the back so the seller didn't want to charge too much for it. I guess at a party back in the 90s, the original owner had spilled Rum & Coke on a stack of records and that resulted in damaged sleeves.
Found one of the 2500 copies of Metal Massacre, Metallica’s first appearance on vinyl, in a box of records on the street at around 3 am, in the Haight Ashbury district of San Francisco, in 1992

I've gotten lots of free records including 2 whole collections of rarities, but the best purchase ever was a thrift store find original pressing of John Coltrane's *My Favorite Things* for US.80c. Got it home and found that there was an original copy of Johnny Cash *Live at Folsom Prison* attached to it for some reason.
Easily was Supertramp - Crime of the Century, 1999 Speakers Corner German repressing. Found it for $15 at a record store, had no idea its value I just wanted to listen to School on vinyl. That store for sure did not know what they had. I sold it a year or so after, I cannot believe how much it’s worth now - $400 CDN.
Found this one in a record store in Vermont on RSD for $8.99 with my student discount. Paul had instructed stores to sneak these copies in with his normal discography as a surprise to fans. I don't think I'll ever be so lucky ever again!

I snagged a copy of Tori Amos’ “From the Choirgirl Hotel” years ago from a vinyl store in Ann Arbor for $15. It’s now highly sought after since she never reissued it, and Tori fans are currently paying $300-$400 for it.
When I had my own store I would buy records in bulk from folks. Generally it was older folks that were moving, or kids trying to get rid of their parents stuff. The majority of times I'd spend like $100 and take whatever the lot was. Usually it was mostly just shit that wasn't worth selling, but there were definitely some gems. I remember a lot that had hundreds of rare 60's garage/psych albums. Galdalf, Druids of Stonehenge, Southwest FOB original pressings.
Probably my copy of the Christmas Album by the Jackson 5, the cheapest I ever see it is at least £25-30 on discogs, and this is sealed, and from 1982, so idk what this seller was thinking putting it up for £10, it hasn't been touched, so I consider myself lucky

Got this 1965 Canadian garage rock ripper in an auction lot which worked out to around 50 cents a record.
10p for Ziggy Stardust, 25p for Blonde on Blonde. 10p for clockwork orange soundtrack. Not sure if they are rare or collectible. But they are the ones I remember
Before it was reissued.. I got first edition Songs for Cleaning Guppies, by Chis Knox at a Japanese used record store. I think I paid 1500 yen for it and sold it for over $300 a few years later. It had only 300 pressings at the time and I had one of them that the cover was hand made and signed by the artist himself. Never thought I would find such a limited pressing in a used record shop in Japan.

I recently just bought an original 1st pressing of 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul on a bid on Ebay for about 40$. It's one of my favorite albums of all time, and I would've spent hundreds on it, but getting it for $40 was pretty awesome.

1st UK pressing of DSOTM for around $20 at a record fair – VG+/VG. A lady sold her records because she was emigrating. Also found a 1st pressing of Abbey Road - with the misprinted apple – for the same price but in a worse condition (G/F).
Every Depeche Mode album from SPEAK & SPELL through MUSIC FOR THE MASSES including most of the corresponding 12" singles, all for free because my uncle had passed and no one else in the family was a Depeche Mode fan.
That was 1990 and I only got a record player in October of 2023.
They all still sound perfect.
Interesting story. Years ago when the electronic music genre called Vaporwave was huge, it generated an off-shoot called Dreampunk. At the time, the record to get was Birth Of a New Day by 2814: everyone wanted it, few had it, so naturally it was really quite expensive.
I joined Reddit - which I was new to - to join the Dreampunk subreddit & discuss the album. Eventually someone offered to sell me their copy. I was extremely hesitant and explained I had never bought a record online from a complete stranger, so I appreciated the offer, but had to decline.
He spoke for a while and he decided to just send me the album for free on the condition I don't flip it. I gave him my address and assurance I'd keep it. Within a few days it arrived in a mailer decked out with Vaporwave stickers and included a wonderful note. It's a great album and I still have it. This is probably the 'coolest' record story I will ever be able to tell. :)

This is only a bargain because I have had it for so long. I picked up a UK Saucerful of Secrets at a going out of business sale, for around $4 and 50 or so years later it has appreciated in value considerably.
Neighbors adult children were clearing out their late parents house, told me they had a huge record collection, and let me have first picks. I got 5 crates of classics and things I didn’t already have in my collection. Stand outs were some first pressing velvet undergrounds, and my favorite find was a UK pressing of Rolling Stones Aftermath signed by Bill Wyman
I got the Johann Sebastian Bach - Henryk Szeryng – 6 Sonaten Und Partiten Für Violine Solo BWV 1001-1006 3xLP set for $10. Not a massive deal, but it can go for around $40-80, depending on location. It's a beautiful recording.
I *criminally underpaid* for an OG UK copy of Still Life on Vertigo from 71, a 72 UK Island pink rim copy of Nick Drake’s Five Leaves Left, and an OG UK copy of A Toast To Panama Red by Masters Apprentices. I live in the middle of the USA so I always get excited to see UK pressings…especially when the seller isn’t aware of their full value.
I once found a second state butchers album for 1$ at a record sale. I’d just gotten into collecting and had no idea what it was - just grabbed it because, it’s the Beatles. Started doing research a half year later and figured out what it was.
I got a copy of "a hard days night" for €1, I essentially convinced the record store salesman that there's no guarantee it would play since it had a massive ring around it. Took it home. Threw it on, works 100%, absolutely no audible damage. I still feel like I robbed the place XD
I got the Soundtrack to Repo man on vinyl for $1. I love that movie and it has some great songs.

I give it a better look , Big dummy almost lost an original press Mono near mint vinyl and the insert, VG+ Cover, Not bad for a buck,,,
I received a promo of David Lee jr evolution for free. Buddy got a stack of records for free, asked if I wanted any. I had no idea who he was just grabbed it because the artwork was cool. After realizing how valuable it was, I ended up selling and split the cash with my friend.
I used to frequent a flea market in Vineland, NJ to get records. I befriended a guy there that knew more about psych and garage records than anyone I've met before or since. He'd display a few gems for higher prices ($40-$80) and the rest of his stuff was all in crates. I'd buy one of the higher value records and then he'd just throw in multiple records to sweeten the deal. He once threw in a free copy of *Boom* by The Sonics because I spent $20 on a Judas Priest record.
They were the first band I saw coming out of the pandemic and blew my face off. I was ten feet away on a Sunday night. It felt like a gift. Nice guys, too!
I got a copy of Velvet Underground and Nico with most of the banana sticker still on it for under $1, it was at a Goodwill that just had things thrown into bins. The record was in one bin, the sleeve in another. Hell the sleeve alone would have been worth it.
Og 1st pressing of The Wall for $1 at goodwill. Records completely new and unplayed, sleeve has some water damage but didn’t soak all the way. Really only 1 of 5-6 records I’ve found at goodwill but def the best

Some of the first albums I bought were OG Evil Empire, Either/Or, and OK computer copies for 15-20 dollars each. I didn't even know what I had at the time, but later would come to realize they're worth 80-120 each. Of course I'll never sell them. More recently, I bought a "scratched and dinged" All things must pass for 8 bucks. It isn't the prettiest copy, but it plays perfect and should be worth more
Yeah it was a great find. It took both a person and a store not knowing what they had for me to get that deal. I feel like every store is on discogs these days, so this kind of find is getting increasingly rare
i got a retail copy of "sleep token - this place will become your tomb" in march and now it looks like they are out of stock because discogs only has 7 copies starting at 70€ (special editions triple digits) and no retailer got them left aswell.
Bought a mint copy of Zappa's Sheik Yerbouti from a charity shop for £6. I picked up an excellent copy of Hounds of Love for £3 at the same time too. This was probably 15 years ago, but they were still great bargains at the time. Still got em, still play em, they both still sound fantastic
The best bargain for me was probably a copy of Tom Waits Rain Dogs before the recent remaster for $8.99. I just happened to be at Bull Moose when they were putting out a recent trade-in and they had it priced as generic "used vinyl" instead of my title.

MCIS #16xxx for $160 about 2 years ago. It was framed and the guy wanted to make sure I knew how much he paid to have it framed. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that the frame would be in the trash in a few hours. Seems fitting my favorite album of all time is my best score.

I got a 1st UK Abbey Road for $8 and a 1st US press of the Velvet Underground’s Self Titled album for $5. Neither are in stellar condition but both play without skipping and the covers are really nice so I can’t complain
I bought a of records in the early '90s and late '80s when they were being closed out to make room for CDs. This was a response to CD longboxes being discontinued meaning CDs could no longer fit into LP size bins. Many were $2. Some were a little more expensive, MoFi Sgt. Pepper was $8. All brand new. I doubled the amount of records I had probably spending about $200 total. I'd go there everyweek after I got paid.

I've gotten a lot of first-rate jazz for well under the going rate but the best ones:
First mono press of Coltrane's A Love Supreme for 40$ (probably worth \~$3-400) and My Favorite Things first press for 10$. Mingus's The Clown first press for 10$.
My most exciting one was Neighb'rhood Childr'n at a record show for 15$. I didn't get around to this table until the end of the show and nobody pulled out the psych rarity all day. It was waiting for me.
I found the Dark Side of the moon for $1.95 at the salvation army. It was in a sleeve for the best of the Doobie Brothers and when I got home and pulled it out I was pleasantly surprised with DSOTM.
I once found a copy of Eminem's Infinite on cassette for $15 and Eminem's Slim Shady EP on CD for $10. This was after MMLP came out and when Eminem was the most popular artist in the world.
I sold them for $400 and $1200 respectively in the late 2000s and regretted it so much that I ended up buying a signed Infinite Tape from someone else.

The one in the picture. I bought a copy of Beatles ‘65 from a seller on Amazon. The description said it was stereo and had writing on the cover. It arrived as described but the cover said stereo, the disc was mono. Which I prefer anyway.
So the seller threw in a free mono copy of Sergeant Pepper. Cover is in bad condition but the disc sounds great with visible scratches but very little noise. Literally my favorite record and it was free.
Bought a purple 'The Drug in Me is You' by Falling in Reverse from discogs for about £20 when the average price was around $50. Current average price is $143 and lowest one on sale is $225
To this day, the best deal I got was on an original RL press of Zeppelin II... for $30. The sleeve is in Good condition, but the vinyl is NM and still sounds absolutely insane.
I'll add this since I saw someone else mention it too. Songs in the key of life, original press, with booklet. Didn't have the 45, but the shop owner said "hang on a second," and rummaged around the loose 45 section and pulled it out. All for $9. Plays great.
In Rainbows box set MPO press for 125$ w shipping. Now it's 202$ w/o shipping on discogs.

I don't know what's considered a bargain because I don't know how much some of my records are worth otherwise. I definitely didn't pay as little as $1 for them. Most of mine are new when I buy them, with a few exceptions.

Found this one in a record store in Vermont on RSD for $8.99 with my student discount. Paul had instructed stores to sneak these copies in with his normal discography as a surprise to fans. I snagged a copy of Tori Amos’ “From the Choirgirl Hotel” years ago from a vinyl store in Ann Arbor for $15. It’s now highly sought after since she never reissued it, and Tori fans are currently paying $300-$400 for it.
When I had my own store I would buy records in bulk from folks. Generally it was older folks that were moving, or kids trying to get rid of their parents stuff. The majority of times I'd spend like $100 and take whatever the lot was. Usually it was mostly just shit that wasn't worth selling, but there were definitely some gems. I remember a lot that had hundreds of rare 60's garage/psych albums. Galdalf, Druids of Stonehenge, Southwest FOB original pressings.

Before it was reissued.. I got first edition Songs for Cleaning Guppies, by Chis Knox at a Japanese used record store. I think I paid 1500 yen for it and sold it for over $300 a few years later. It had only 300 pressings at the time and I had one of them that the cover was hand made and signed by the artist himself. Never thought I would find such a limited pressing in a used record shop in Japan.

That was 1990 and I only got a record player in October of 2023. They all still sound perfect.

Interesting story. Years ago when the electronic music genre called Vaporwave was huge, it generated an off-shoot called Dreampunk. At the time, the record to get was Birth Of a New Day by 2814: everyone wanted it, few had it, so naturally it was really quite expensive. I joined Reddit - which I was new to - to join the Dreampunk subreddit & discuss the album. Eventually someone offered to sell me their copy. I was extremely hesitant and explained I had never bought a record online from a complete stranger, so I appreciated the offer, but had to decline. He spoke for a while and he decided to just send me the album for free on the condition I don't flip it. I gave him my address and assurance I'd keep it. Within a few days it arrived in a mailer decked out with Vaporwave stickers and included a wonderful note. It's a great album and I still have it. This is probably the 'coolest' record story I will ever be able to tell. :)

I *criminally underpaid* for an OG UK copy of Still Life on Vertigo from 71, a 72 UK Island pink rim copy of Nick Drake’s Five Leaves Left, and an OG UK copy of A Toast To Panama Red by Masters Apprentices. I received a promo of David Lee jr evolution for free. Buddy got a stack of records for free, asked if I wanted any. I had no idea who he was just grabbed it because the artwork was cool. After realizing how valuable it was, I ended up selling and split the cash with my friend.

I used to frequent a flea market in Vineland, NJ to get records. I befriended a guy there that knew more about psych and garage records than anyone I've met before or since. He'd display a few gems for higher prices ($40-$80) and the rest of his stuff was all in crates. I'd buy one of the higher value records and then he'd just throw in multiple records to sweeten the deal. He once threw in a free copy of *Boom* by The Sonics because I spent $20 on a Judas Priest record.

I got a copy of Velvet Underground and Nico with most of the banana sticker still on it for under $1, it was at a Goodwill that just had things thrown into bins. The record was in one bin, the sleeve in another. Hell the sleeve alone would have been worth it.

Some of the first albums I bought were OG Evil Empire, Either/Or, and OK computer copies for 15-20 dollars each. I didn't even know what I had at the time, but later would come to realize they're worth 80-120 each. Of course I'll never sell them. More recently, I bought a "scratched and dinged" All things must pass for 8 bucks. It isn't the prettiest copy, but it plays perfect and should be worth more

Yeah it was a great find. It took both a person and a store not knowing what they had for me to get that deal. I feel like every store is on discogs these days, so this kind of find is getting increasingly rare
i got a retail copy of "sleep token - this place will become your tomb" in march and now it looks like they are out of stock because discogs only has 7 copies starting at 70€ (special editions triple digits) and no retailer got them left aswell.
Bought a mint copy of Zappa's Sheik Yerbouti from a charity shop for £6. I picked up an excellent copy of Hounds of Love for £3 at the same time too. This was probably 15 years ago, but they were still great bargains at the time. Still got em, still play em, they both still sound fantastic

I bought a of records in the early '90s and late '80s when they were being closed out to make room for CDs. This was a response to CD longboxes being discontinued meaning CDs could no longer fit into LP size bins. Many were $2. Some were a little more expensive, MoFi Sgt. Pepper was $8. All brand new. I doubled the amount of records I had probably spending about $200 total. I'd go there everyweek after I got paid.

I've gotten a lot of first-rate jazz for well under the going rate but the best ones: First mono press of Coltrane's A Love Supreme for 40$ (probably worth \~$3-400) and My Favorite Things first press for 10$. Mingus's The Clown first press for 10$. My most exciting one was Neighb'rhood Childr'n at a record show for 15$. I didn't get around to this table until the end of the show and nobody pulled out the psych rarity all day. It was waiting for me.
I found the Dark Side of the moon for $1.95 at the salvation army. It was in a sleeve for the best of the Doobie Brothers and when I got home and pulled it out I was pleasantly surprised with DSOTM.

I once found a copy of Eminem's Infinite on cassette for $15 and Eminem's Slim Shady EP on CD for $10. This was after MMLP came out and when Eminem was the most popular artist in the world. I sold them for $400 and $1200 respectively in the late 2000s and regretted it so much that I ended up buying a signed Infinite Tape from someone else. Still trying to replace the SSEP CD which is now a pain because of all the bootlegs.
The one in the picture. I bought a copy of Beatles ‘65 from a seller on Amazon. The description said it was stereo and had writing on the cover. It arrived as described but the cover said stereo, the disc was mono. Which I prefer anyway. So the seller threw in a free mono copy of Sergeant Pepper. Cover is in bad condition but the disc sounds great with visible scratches but very little noise. Literally my favorite record and it was free.

To this day, the best deal I got was on an original RL press of Zeppelin II... for $30. The sleeve is in Good condition, but the vinyl is NM and still sounds absolutely insane. I'll add this since I saw someone else mention it too. Songs in the key of life, original press, with booklet. Didn't have the 45, but the shop owner said "hang on a second," and rummaged around the loose 45 section and pulled it out. All for $9. Plays great.
In Rainbows box set MPO press for 125$ w shipping. Now it's 202$ w/o shipping on discogs. Low Roar - Once In A Long Long While Grey Galaxy for 91$ w shipping. No copies been sold since march and the median on discogs is around 150$.

I don't know what's considered a bargain because I don't know how much some of my records are worth otherwise. I definitely didn't pay as little as $1 for them. Most of mine are new when I buy them, with a few exceptions.
