VTOL VR is made for VR controllers (it does not even support hotas as per the vision of the dev) and is definitively worth checking out, it is my favourite sitting VR game excluding racing sims.

YoPimpness

Ultrawings 2 (and probably 1, haven't played) was a lot of fun too. More arcade-y than VTOL VR.

hitechpilot

Also jetborne racing. Is this on your exclusion list too? JR supports HOTAS natively but can be played without. Easier to play with, though.

RedRaptor85

Is it only multiplayer (how many people are currently playing it)/ what can you do? I see it is currently discounted, I know this game was an experiment made by the dev to fund multiplayer for VTOL VR as a small stand-alone game. With racing games, I was mainly thinking about iRacing.

PenOdd1685

Not OP but uhh, what do you like so much about vtol? I tried it for a couple hours and i feel like i must be missing something. My impression was that the graphics are horrible, controls are difficult, it didn't feel especially immersive and i just couldn't find anything fun about it. Maybe i'd have felt differently about it in 2017? This is a genuine question by the way.  All the best~

RedRaptor85

For people who like flight sims, it is like a wet dream, unless you only care about graphics. It has never stopped improving over time. It's like being in a last gen fighter with all important systems accurately included but not in an overcomplicated manner. You can interact with everything in the cockpit. It has a lot of workshop missions and campaigns, and it has multiplayer. Coordinating in a team to complete an online campaign is absolutely thrilling. It has in-game voice chat as well, which you control from the cockpit. In less than 1h, you can learn everything you need to go fly on your own.

lulrukman

War Thunder is my go to sitting VR. War Thunder Sim. Found a YouTube video on how to setup for controller. Works really well. No need to touch the keyboard (game supports multiple inputs for an action, so pressing 4 buttons to retract landing gear is possible. It's actually retrieving flaps and landing gear at the same time). Looking for the planes is awesome. Being inside the World War 2 cockpit propeller planes, insane view. Looking over the side, seeing the flames out of the exhaust. Or when in strike aircraft, seeing an engine on both sides, when looking left or right. That's da shit! Needing the plane home, after taking damage, the euphoria after landing it (every landing you walk away from is a successful landing). I don't play to win games, I play for the views. I do love the 190 tho, being up high, diving on Spitfires at nearly 800km/h. Amazing views, really. It's just arcade enough, not too hardcore simulator

hitechpilot

Only for fighters. Bombers get no love.

B1rdi

Definitely the "I expect you to die"-series, all three games are great. I bet they're on sale tomorrow when Steam the Summer Sale starts

Orange_Lux

Very big +1 for this recommendation. It's very beginner-friendly, very well made and has lots of accessibility tips.

storm_the_castle

Vox Machinae

PriorFast2492

Red matter 2 was fine sitting down

piratinha28

Tentacular, Trover saves the universe, Moss, Moss 2(Winner of The Game Awards' "Best VR/AR Game,"), Mixture VR, I expect you to die, Demeo, Demeo Battles and Hellblade Senua's sacrifice if you have a powerful PC.

NEARNIL

>Not including racing and flying games, I guess you mean simulators. In this case i like Runner, it’s a arcade type cyberpunk rail shooter.

zhaDeth

resident evil 4 for quest is really good sitting down. I really like how they moved the holster forward so it's not in your couch.

gieserj10

That's why I love the way Arizona Sunshine 2 does it, you get to pick where the holster goes, how big the area of interaction is etc. Every game should have this, once I saw that I couldn't believe that option isn't in every game as a basic calibration setting.

octorine

Moss 1 & 2 were both like 90% fine sitting down, and were both great games. Lucky's tale is fun to pick up and play whenever you have 5 minutes, and works great seated. Stellaris: Ghost signal is a great seated game.

Keepin_It_Real_OK

For a split second I thought you were going to say Moss is at 90% discount. 😞

octorine

Well, the Steam Summer Sale is coming up, so it could still happen.

Rich-Suspect-9494

In a wheelchair. I tried a few. Golf isn’t working for me. Fishing works pretty well. I’m enjoying the new twist on Angry Birds. And it’s on sale now.

a_sneaky_tiki

angry birds is a great one, reminds me of boomblox from the wii

Rassirian

Ugh a boom Blox game would do amazing on the occulus!

a_sneaky_tiki

i know, right? someone get Steven Spielberg on the phone…

dratseb

No Man’s Sky I play sitting

ilostallmykarma

Max Mustard is good. Tetris Effect is great also, although the quest controls aren't that great. Tetris doesn't work well without a d pad. I kept laying bricks in the wrong place and I didn't have that problem with a regular controller.

a_sneaky_tiki

i play tetris effect on steamVR with an xbox controller and it's great, and you're right it definitely needs that d-pad

Puzzleheaded_Fold466

Consider a swivel chair, then you can play any game while sitting down. I find I can actually turn faster than standing up and a good chair has a thin enough seat that you can still do the walking motions, though you can’t physically crouch. Add a ceiling mounted cable system and you’re golden. For [exemple.](https://www.cybershoes.com/product/cybershoes-for-quest-steamvr/) or [this one.](https://www.rotovr.com) There are a few others though some of them are way over the top stupid expensive.

stlredbird

I Expect You To Die Phantom Covert Ops

Klautsche

Those 2 came to my mind to. I'll add Fallout 4, played a good chunk seated as well

wizardpsx

Ghost Signal: A Stellaris Game Found this Gem. A great space rogue lite where you slowly upgrade ships and put on harder objectives to complete the game. Try to find when on sale

PenOdd1685

I play everything seated.  Firewatch with the vr mod. it's very easy to get running. Wanderer - AAA quality (fuckin hate that term) time travel adventure game in VR.  Contractors showdown  Into the radius  Not what you asked but don't miss out on watching movies on bigscreen or skybox vr. Watching downloaded movies on my quest 2 + taking paxlovid made having covid for ten days a vacation for me last year. The sense of scale, familliar theater environment, and real-time screen reflections on the walls, really are surprisingly effective especially with a nice set of headphones and when you can be cozy in bed.  All the best.

uceenk

Drums Rock, Euro Truck Simulator 2

Ramattei

The first hell blade is really cool. Also lived playing stray with uevr

Fit_Bowler9375

Vegas infinite

ryansmith1129

I Expect You to Die 1, 2, and 3. The best and most entertaining seated game I've ever played. The missions and puzzles are unique, challenging, hilarious, and interesting. Highly recommend.

Urnoobslayer

Vegas infinite. I have spent I really long time in that game lol

Cangar

Surprised I haven't seen Demeo yet. I think it's very well done, and demeo battles also is a pvp version of it

tigerf117

Tons of games supported on UEVR, it is perfect for those. I’m playing some arcade racing games with an Xbox controller right now, going to start Vampyr soon, among many others.

bushmaster2000

I played hellblade 1 in VR sitting down using a console controller.

Adekus

Subnautica with VR Enhancements

xendelaar

Subnautica

Accomplished-Knee710

I play all of them sitting down.

Tazling

puzzling places toy trains epic rolller coasters

Raist999

Real VR Fishing is a great sit and chill game

Ryan86me

Downtown Club on quest is fantastic; easily the best virtual steering wheel implementation I've seen in VR. This definitely breaks your no racing game rule, /but/ it has a free drive mode for cruising around fairly large and open environments (only one right now in early access but plenty more planned). One of the most immersive things I've done on the headset, especially since quest lets you queue up your own playlist in the background while you're driving.

QuinrodD

Pinball games. FX2, Star Wars, and VPX, which is free and with hundreds of pinball tables

ittleoff

Underdogs, but honestly that's misleading:). You do need to play seated but it's a lot of arm movement. Moss games are pretty great for seated play

TheBirdGames

Iron rebellion, basicly titanfall, but only the Titans in vr (early access rn, but the devs are very active with the playerbase in their discord)

toooft

Virtual Virtual Reality is a great game, and is suitable to play sitting down.

rdesimone410

Get [OVR Advanced Settings](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1009850/OVR_Advanced_Settings/) and use the space-drag feature. That makes almost all VR games playable seated.

Suspicious-Sector934

Skyrim vr after a config file change.

Onphone_irl

Surprised I didn't see the kayak game here. Put a podcast or music on, and get a workout in while distressing in some pretty areas

chalez88

rdr2

BMXBikr

Trover

TheDarnook

Ghostwire Tokyo. Soulstice. Spyro Reignited. UEVR is your friend.

Maxwell_Perkins088

Blaze Rush

Balgs

Pacific drive, not a racing game but very car centered

SensingWorms

This sucks because so many people get sick playing these games.

marcocom

Man I play every VR game sitting down. They almost all have controller-based rotation and movement, just like using any game-controller (especially any games ported to VR)

NGC6369

Moss, Pond Scum, Max Mustard. VR platformers are great for this.

Ahris22

Moss is really good for sitting down but you can play a lot of games seated though they're not made for it like Skyrim, Fallout4, No Man's Sky, Half-Life Alyx etc. all you need to do is alter the default height a bit.

Imscomobob

Mothergunship forge and VR Pinball!

MalenfantX

Mothergunship Forge is a running around dodging missiles while you shoot at enemies game. It is not made for sitting down.

Imscomobob

You are standing on a stationary platform that is like 5 meters wide… not much movement. You dodge back and forth and there is a sitting mode where you use left stick to move… have you played it before?

RelevantCommand4374

I think lil bro got it confused for Fortnite cause Mothergunship forge is the opposite of what he said

Kondiq

My friend played it seated while I played standing. It's easier to dodge bullets while standing, but it's playable seated and we both had fun.

We_Are_Victorius

I have a broken leg right now, and have been having fun playing Max Mustard. If you like platformers like Mario, you will enjoy this.

itz_butter5

Truck sims, NMS, demeo

fiah84

> Not including racing and flying games, especially ones where you need a hotas/wheel setup. but those are my favourites!

fantaz1986

Trevor save a universe

TotalEatschips

Quest: Puzzling places (3d puzzles of cool as heck buildings and locations, you get to see the little details from real 3d scans of buildings as you put them together) Walkabout mini golf (you don't even have to golf you can just sit on the beach or a raft or hunt for hidden golf balls, watch fish, etc) Virtuoso (music making) Patchworld (music making) Lost recipes (chill cooking game) Gravity Sketch (3d drawing) Little cities (City builder) Spring (app lab, chill puzzle game with bouncing similar to billiards with gravity meets rube Goldberg) Virtual virtual reality (psychedelic inception VR experiences and mini games) Spacefolk city ("city" builder in space very cartoony like toejam and Earl) Gods of gravity (real time strategy vs other players, think Risk but with planets and stars instead of countries) Bait! (fishing) Liminal (meditation) I hope you enjoy these games sitting down 🙏

TotalEatschips

Damn I spent a lot of time making this list , sucks to be down voted, I wonder why. trust me it's a legit sitting down games list.

DavidManvell

On the PS VR2 there's basically three modes sitting down standing in full room. Each game is listed as to what categories they work in so you can full of list of just the ones that support that mode

Typical-Gap-1187

Most Vr games are way better standing up, but Tetris effect works fine seated.

fdruid

Chess.

ThatOneExploiter

War planes WWII is stupidly amazing... worth every single cent.
