Hi, my name is Lina. Is this Sharon? Oh I am so sorry, I must have the wrong person! I am from Singapore but currently living in Los Angeles. May I know your name? My hobbies include managing my investment portfolio, do you have WhatsApp?
Nah don’t fuck around with like asset inheritance like that some places will just forfeit your assets to the gubment, some states do have next of kin laws
I’d write down on a paper your assets and how to access them and then hide it with your important docs for them to find in case something bad happens
That's crazy to think tho how will someone find it if you pass? Who would find it is the better question because you'll have to tell them ahead of time.. and then they might use the information against you
I do tattoos for good prices. I'll do any area as well. Just let me know the pas...I mean tattoos you want and I'll make sure it'll be the most useless tat you have!
Seriously this. My buddy died suddenly last week. He told me he gave his backups to another mate. He didnt. $200k that couldve gone to his sister is now basically burned…
I know this first hand. One of my clients passed away, the next day four people in her condo building went into her unit, and cleaned it out.
About 3 weeks before we set up a security system, because they were package and she thought that maybe they would break into her unit.
Well they had video of the condo being cleaned out. Everybody who did it was sent a copy of the video and told to bring it back or they would file theft charges. Everything came back.
That taught me a lesson to trust nobody and to take video pictures of everything you want to leave to people behind.
The first 40 000 blocks or so (the first 13 months of Bitcoin from jan 2009 to feb 2010) the diffuculty of all those blocks was 1. This pretty much means that outside of Satoshi Nakamoto there were barely any other computers mining Bitcoin, otherwise the algo would have upped the difficulty. (more guessing power leads to finding blocks faster than 10 minutes, which changes the difficulty to make the guessing range larger so that the time goes back to 10 minutes)
Now between block 0 and block 40 000 some 1 million BTC have never moved, a good 60% of everything that was mined in those blocks.
It's there for assumed that a good 4% of the supply belongs to Satoshi Nakamoto and might never ever move.
If it ever starts moving, it will have a big effect on the market.
I mined 2,500 doge coin in 2014 that was at time valued at 2.6c up to 25cents. Now worth $261. I mined that in one day of mining. Formatted hard drive. So if anyone made some money on doge coin your welcome I helped remove some from circulation.
I mined BTC in 2011 with Nvidia hardware, which sucked at the time compared to mining with AMD. But mining all the time meant I could not play videogames. And it also made my room so incredibly warm.
So I only mined solo for a week or so, never found a block. If I had extra money in those days I might have bought a decicated machine and placed it in a basement at my parents house or something. But alas, broke as fuck in those days.
Really Bitcoin has never made a poor man become rich. It's only made the rich more rich, and the inbetweeners rich and the 90% losers paid for that with their impatience and their buying high and selling low.
If you are really poor you can't afford to put any money in to crypto whatsover.
That guys is always crying every rallies but never get back to the game.
He would have sold after it 2x if he had access to his coins. He don’t trust Bitcoin can still go up, because he could still get back in but he doesn’t. If he’s not rich yet after having been in Bitcoin for so long and yet not being rich, I’m sure he’s just LARPing
I’m watching peaky blinders for the first time and just saw an episode where they checked behind the guys balls for a tattoo 💀 hearing this twice in the course of 2 hours is wild
I turned $200 into $18k in less than 12 hours with Doge in 2021. Paper handed the entire ride. Sold and rebought about 10 times over those 12 hours. I did so good that the IRS sent me a bill for more than I made. 0/10 would do again.
I think my single best play was 3k in 10 minutes on Litecoin a few years back. I watched the order books get eaten though, poured everything I had on the exchange into it, watched it soar when no asks were left, and then dumped it all when it started crashing back down. The funniest thing was that I was at work and spent the rest of the day in a daze.
Second best play was setting limit orders overnight, and waking up confused as to why I had an extra 8k in my account. Price crashed overnight, triggering buys, then exploded up, triggering sells. 1k/hr while asleep isn't half bad. I miss that crazy volatility.
Hahahaha jokes on you! I spent ~$400 when it was less than a penny and had like millions of tokens………I sold 2-3 months before it’s ATH where I would have been a millionaire. I held it for years and never thought it would go up then it got close to hitting $1
That's actually pretty easy if only your gains count, but not losses.
Bought for 10k sold for 20k -> 10k gain
Bought 20k sold for 5k
Bought for 5k sold for 10k -> 5k gain
Now you ended up with same 10k as at the beginning , but with taxes on 15k profit
>Maybe I’m regarded but…you should put your losses on your taxes then too. Am I learning
yes, the logic behind their comment is likely them misinterpreting wash sale rules.
Just found out one of my biggest shitcoin investment was abandoned. Technically a $2k loss but since I can’t even cash out due to zero liquidity I can pretend it’s just forever unrealised 🤡
> while this cunt pumps and dumps
Goddamn whales out there pumping and dumping $410k making everyone else holding $20 loose their life savings I tell ya!
A cold wallet is basically a hard drive or some other device that stores your coin, not connected to the internet. There was a good Dark Net Diaries podcast about a hacker who had been mining bitcoins since they started and he has $20M in bitcoin on a hard drive…in the evidence locker because he got popped for hacking and they kept everything. $20M just sitting there on a hard drive, in an evidence locker, and the feds have no idea.
Edit: had no idea*. I’m sure they know now
He’s already out. They won’t give it back to him because it has other evidence on it. This hacker was the one who leaked John Brennens credentials and a bunch of other FBI and Intel dudes to Wikileaks. He has told them that he will unlock the drive so they can get whatever evidence they need but they won’t play ball.
Trophy is the perfect word for it, this hacker is the one who went after the intel agencies and leaked a bunch of their credentials to Wikileaks along with tons of other docs. He also went after the head of the CIA, hacked all of his shit, leaked his info and even called him on his personal phone haha. They aren’t giving that back to him ever
Kinda crazy how much 8 btc is worth right now. The first time I ever heard of bitcoin was from it being the top searched word on Baidu and the price was about some $500 in 2013. Sadly I was in high school that time with a weekly allowance of $20.
First time I heard about it it was worth just a fraction of a penny. I got stoked about trying out mining it, but my friends made fun of me for being excited about it and the community I was part of and based half of my personality on called it buttcoin, so as a self-conscious kiddo I abandoned the idea. Oof.
How difficult was it to mine bitcoin at the time when it was worth a penny? How many btc would I get from running it on my laptop that can’t even get 32 fps on counter strike for 8 hrs every day?
Back in like 2010 I could mine quite a few BTC in a single day on a decidedly average pc, no gpu needed.
In hindsight, A week of mining was more than enough to make one an extremely wealthy individual, down the line.
Of course, barely any of us actually kept at it, we tried it out, forgot about it again and any mined coins got lost/sold .
I actually got back into the scene a bit later, BTC had gone up to like 70$ then. I did buy some crypto then as an investment but money was tight so I decided BTC was too expensive for me.
Biggest mistake I've ever made.
Honestly , if my parents hadn't raised me to be as financially cautious as I am.. I would've been extremely wealthy by now. I've had the right ideas a few times over the past 2 decades but I could never pull the trigger due to that mindset.
Damn you, overly financially conservative upbringing.
At least I'm trying to avoid repeating the same mistake once again, I firmly believe quantum computing has all the potential to make early investors extremely wealthy.
It doesn’t matter even if you did mine some. You would’ve sold them all early on as price went up. I know quite a few people that had thousands of bitcoin but sold at varying prices for huge returns but nothing in millions.
I did this and ended up selling 3.5 btc to make expenses I didn’t anticipate. Wish I just kept my job, I just started working again after 3 years. Still have ~10, never putting myself in a seller’s position again.
Bitcoin are divisible (otherwise they would be useless). The current smallest unit of BTC are the "satoshi" or "sat". There are 100,000,000 sats in 1 BTC.
Can exclude $250k of gains from tax as a single filer, $500k as a joint filer. Not sure how that shakes out when it's a divorcing couple/when they sold the house.
For folks who might not know this aspect of mortgages, they're usually set up so the payment amount doesn't change month to month, but [early payments are almost entirely interest and very gradually they shift to less interest and more principal](https://assets.themortgagereports.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/amortization_schedule_30year_fixed.gif).
Thus 10 years into a 30 year loan very little principal has been paid.
You can speed up the payoff of your loan by paying extra each month -- the excess amount goes entirely to reducing principal.
I love bitcoin because of how ANGRY it makes people. If it crashes, everyone blows their pud just to tell you how dumb you are. When I goes up, first thing people say is “cash out now or else”. I’m holding until chezburger levels. It’s literally the only chance for idiots like me to ever own a house that doesn’t have wheels.
I mean, it might never pay off and you might lose it all, but it's a helluva lot smarter than the collective billions that people spend on lotteries every year.
This gave me an audible chuckle lol. Anyone that ever tried to buy/trade/barter goods with btc feels this in the gonads.
I want to make a purchase or xfer in btc? go ahead and add 25% onto your initial cost to cover fluctuation over your 1-3 day transfer. Some days I ended up on top with btc increases but mostly ended up on the shit end, spending upwards of 25% extra to cover conversions and price movement T\_T
I love it, but like - without a house or job, are you gonna slowly sell it off for living expenses? What's the plan between now and it mooning? Hopefully you have some fiat cushion so you're not having to whittle it down until price spikes?
If you're smart you'll cash out now and take your winnings. But you put your life savings into Bitcoin, so we already know you're not smart.
Shits insane though. I put $2K into a Canadian Bitcoin ETF earlier in the year and I'm up 95% right now.

I wonder how much bitcoin is inaccessible due to death or lost passwords.
30% of all bitcoins are lost forever due to lost thumb drives and passwords. It’s baked into the value.

I think there is a lot more to this story. You don’t pay more taxes than what you made.
That's actually pretty easy if only your gains count, but not losses. Bought for 10k sold for 20k -> 10k gain Bought 20k sold for 5k Bought for 5k sold for 10k -> 5k gain Now you ended up with same 10k as at the beginning , but with taxes on 15k profit

They know. But they know they probably can't touch it either. It's just a trophy at this point, unless they get really desperate for a rainy day fund.
So does this mean that once the dude's out, he can get his money back? Hard time would probably feel less hard with a cool ten milly at the end of it.
He’s already out. They won’t give it back to him because it has other evidence on it. You’re assuming he had a paid off house. He likely had an $800,000 house with $200,000 equity.
~1.2 million house, owed 490k, got $310k after all was said and done. Bought the house for $582k in 2014.
Losing compounding gains to taxes. Truly regarded.
Can exclude $250k of gains from tax as a single filer, $500k as a joint filer. Not sure how that shakes out when it's a divorcing couple/when they sold the house.

Still owe $490k on a $582k loan after ten years of mortgage payments. Nice.
Amortization is a bitch.
People will just refinance over and over and not realize this. Just buy below your means and get a shorter term loan

I’m holding until chezburger levels. It’s literally the only chance for idiots like me to ever own a house that doesn’t have wheels.
You just made me understand why people buy into crypto.
I mean, it might never pay off and you might lose it all, but it's a helluva lot smarter than the collective billions that people spend on lotteries every year.
It's why poor people gamble the most, if they win they could buy something they could never save for.

I recently bought a car with BTC. We agreed on a number of sats and I sent em.
Just imagine when Bitcoin hits 100k
In about 3 1/2 months?
Q11, 2021
This is how legends are born.
This guy will fuck in 5 to 10 years
Or equal chance be fucked (behind the Wendy’s)
It's a win-win
use a cold wallet. this will age like fine wine in a few years.
we chillin
RemindMe! 5 years
Man, imagine not buying a whole coin in 2023.
What could go wrong?
One of the biggest exchanges could fail and we find out they financed their orgies in the Bahamas with customer funds.
Financing tropical orgies with embezzled funds actually legitimizes crypto as a part of the financial industry.
This man Wall Streets.
Psht… like that will ever happen…
God speed, sir 🫡 See you in Valhalla

Legend
Flex on that bitch 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I love it, but like - without a house or job, are you gonna slowly sell it off for living expenses? What's the plan between now and it mooning? Hopefully you have some fiat cushion so you're not having to whittle it down until price spikes?
You will be rewarded well.
*regarded
Go get that Lambo money king
Bro is rich rn
Motherfucker
If you're smart you'll cash out now and take your winnings. But you put your life savings into Bitcoin, so we already know you're not smart. Shits insane though. I put $2K into a Canadian Bitcoin ETF earlier in the year and I'm up 95% right now.
this is r/wallstreetbets
Do you know what the halving is?
No you are gonna halve to tell me
I have no idea why you are being downvoted. Bitcoin spot ETF Q1 24 and bitcoin halving Q2 24. HODL!
Selling now would be like selling at 12k a few years ago
