He was probably some rookie that was forced into the war through mandatory service from some fuckin village in Siberia.. it looks like he was reading something, perhaps a letter from home. This might've been the only chance he had to lower his guard in weeks and just when for a split second he thought he was safe, he realizes that his life is over. If you don't think that's sad then honestly I feel kinda bad for you.

On Russia there is mandatory service that everyone has to go through. Unfortunately many of those mandatory service soldiers are sent to the front lines instead of experienced veterans because the average lifetime of a soldier ok the front lines is about 24-48 hours. They don't wanna sacrifice good fighters in the meat grinder so they send the reserves and rooks there. So for a 18 year old kid who doesn't know about life outside his village which probably doesn't even have electricity, no there is no other "choice" that you claim everyone always has. That's the sad reality of Russian life outside of Moscow.

It's called combined arms. It's no different than using other aircraft, or artillery. It's just more precise and less risky. There's no point sacrificing someone's life to do something if you cna trivially and with little cost use a machine to do the same thing from a safer distance. Makes better use of the materiel, as well.

Drone warfare seems like it should be a war crime. Silent, no way to defend,no way to prepare. Maybe I feel this way because it is a much closer view than say a C-130, but this is sad. I know war has always been war, but seeing it like this, on almost every social media platform, is disheartening.
