I think all three additions are good in their roles.
The primary next move is probably going to be some kind of dump of a combo of GP2, Looney and even Moody or Wiggins. There's a lot of positional overlap on the roster right now.
Splash cousins seems pretty on point. Hield is from the bahamas too, and klay has ties there. Curry and klay are already brothers, and klay and hield are cousins, which makes curry a distant cousin... ok I'll stop
Yea, I was half joking. He has some limitations as a player, but can absolutely shoot the rock, and that's valuable. Even if that's the only thing he can do on the court, it has value.
I sincerely apologize MDJ i was not familiar with your game
edit: getting Buddy for 2 years 18 million is amazing and having him for a potential 4 years is pretty hype
I don’t know. We have some redundancy now with our wings, I still think moody gets shipped out for something. Where the hell does he fit in this roster now? He’s going to be asking for a trade if he’s still getting 10 min a game with DNP-coaches decisions.
Yeah I like Moody but he just doesn't ever seem to know where to stand or be on offense or defense. He's not a great fit into the Warriors style of basketball but could be a great player on another team.
Nah I think there’s still one bigger move coming. If it’s not Lauri, then I think it will be Lavine or Ingram. I think MDJ realizes that we still need one more piece to really push us into the playoff picture.
I think if not Lauri then it's gonna Ingram most likely.
Tbh I would be fine with Ingram on the squad and plus I imagine in an Ingram trade we wouldn't have to give up Kuminga.
I’d be fine with Ingram honestly if we can’t get Lauri. He’s in his prime, he can put the ball in the basket, he can get his own shot. That’s really what we need. If we don’t have to give up Kuminga I think that’s big too.
In 2 years if Hield is still performing, he becomes a must-trade-for contract where a contender will just hand over a late first round pick for him. If he’s toast by then, no big deal.
Brilliant move with the contract details.
Even if we consider Moody could play some SF we also have Wiggins and JK needing minutes there. He can't be the 3rd string SG/SF somethings gotta give. Not to mention we still have GP2.
Most teams don’t even use their TPE’s, Dunleavy got Buddy + Slo Mo.
A sign and trade requires 3 years minimum, at least one year guaranteed. Wonder what the contract looks like. If it’s fitting into the rest of Klay’s traded player exception, he’s not getting a high annual, so maybe Buddy has a player option in year 2/3?
e: 4yrs, $21M guaranteed. $18M through first two, partial guarantee in year 3 ($3M), some type of player option in year 4.
Looks like they can get out pretty pain free after two years, eating that $3M would let them avoid a potential 4th year player option in Buddy’s age 35 season. Basically a 2yrs, $21M deal at that point… $11M a season seems pretty reasonable for Buddy, but I guess I didn’t really watch him much this season.
If he’s getting around $7.3M in year one, how does he jump all the way up to $10.7M in year two? Pretty big percent raise, some type of cap fuckery?
Even if Buddy can’t play defense, $7M/yr seems like a pretty good deal. At worst, he’s a good regular season body, and I’m not too worried about potential playoff performances right now lol
e: Comes out to more than 7M/yr with the guarantee, but that still seems like a pretty good deal
I'm so used to being up in cap hell so we always have to settle for vet mins for a year meaning we have to find new guys every year. This is so exciting being able to sign solid vets to multiyear contracts. If we can pick up a 2nd option guy on offense or Kuminga can be that guy then we can make some noise for Steph's finals years.
So we lost Klay & CP3, used the TPE, signed slomo, Melton and Buddy, got younger, taller, improved D and hopefully Buddy when paired with Steph can go hog wild on wide open 3s (that Klay and Wiggins would often blow) - and reduced our payroll by like $60 million bucks, well under the aprons. The man is cooking (especially considering what he had to work with). Now all he has to do is a multi team trade for Wiggins, Moody and picks for Lauri. If he can pull that off (Im not counting on it), he’s the GM of the year.
really great guy to have off the bench with kyle Anderson. i think melton starting at 2 with steph seems to be the move due to his defense and solid outside shooting
Same. Especially if we get Markennen we're really gonna need Melton's defense. With TJD protecting the rim and Melton the PoA, it let's Dray go back to his free safety roll.
I love Looney, but he's not a rim protector, so the pairing wasn't great, especially with neither being threats to score. Expecting a 12ppg/9reb/1.7blks season from TJD.
I wonder what contract terms are? Has to be at least 3 years, and what’s going back out? He can be great as a gunner off the bench, in the role they most likely wanted Klay to fill.
Na, he’s not good enough on offense to warrant his poor defense next to Steph. At least not against the tough play off teams of the west. But I would love him coming off the bench as instant offense, just jacking 3s next to slow mo lol melton, as an athletic ++defender with long arms, who can also shoot it, seems like a great fit to start next to Steph and either Wiggins or JK
Na I said melton starts. He’s basically GP2 but he can shoot 3s and is 26. I agree about Podz. He’s scrappy and smart, but will still get cooked by SGA, Jamal Murray, Ant, Kyrie. I like Podz as back up pg personally. Or in a trade for a better player lol
Excited for the melton signing then anything else, I felt like he and slow mo cooked us whenever we played them while they were in Memphis. Melton just needs to stay healthy.
IMO, Podz is going to have to up his 3 point attempts next season with klay out. He has a quick release, controls the ball, is durable for the regular season and is a 39% 3 point shooter (42% in college). He had a really bad start on the shooting end last year and i think he put his head down into the role of facilitator last year. I can see a world where podz can stretch the floor while still providing his other net positive attributes in the future.
It’s gonna be Podz. You need a scrappy defender besides Steph at this point.
Not a sexy option but if The Warriors can somehow grab Markkanen without giving up Kuminga, you’re looking at a decent starting 5 imo
Great move.
Getting the 7th man production we'd want from Klay but without the pouting. Shooting-wise Buddy is the next-best thing to Klay and defensively it's a wash (only because Klay has fallen off badly). Buddy has also been very durable.
Most importantly, Buddy knows he's a role player, so Kerr can manage him like one.
Might be time to move on from Lauri and go get Ingram before someone else does. This team will be competitive if we can get either of those guys and don’t want us to miss out on
I think I have enough faith in our teams sports medicine department to manage his health throughout the season (I could be wrong here once the season starts and he already goes out)
Buddy's great as a sharpshooter but he's always seemed more interested in hoisting than winning games. I guess that's not a major issue if he's just coming off the bench for spacing. Basically what we were hoping Klay could do. It'll be interesting to see what kind of percentages he can put up playing next to someone with Steph's gravity.
Honestly great job by the front office, few players could have replaced the Klay role and he's one of the best 3 point shooters in the league. Unfortunately the backcourt defense is suspect now but hey this is the best we could hope for
He's gonna get insane spacing . No one gonna defend him like they did before with steph around. MDJ just needs to make one big trade to get that certified #2.
Aight we just need a lob threat who can bully ball a lot of 4s and set hard ass picks. Doesn't have to be able to shoot well but needs to be an interior presence. Then I like our odds.
I mean, without much wiggle room, getting Melton, Anderson and Hield who together cover a lot of key areas of the game, this is a win. However they have to someone like Lauri or Ingram for it to really matter.

So long, 2031 Dallas second-round pick and thank you for all the memories. Jokes aside, this is a great roleplayer addition.
That 6th grader doesn't even know what just happened to him.
Jokes aside, I have seen so many 6th grader middle school memes across bb subs the last few days I start appreciating the 7 year rule on pick trades.
Same vibes as the SNL "meet your second wife" sketch I guess lol https://youtu.be/MJEAGd1bQuc?si=NKcK1fXKtXmEzJ1j

Strength in numbers?
Im cool with losing thise guys, except moody. I think moody has potential
It’s in the Nick Young mold, but a better shooter - and much else. Send him in, hope he goes off, if not, take him out.
Nick Young’s TM% was much higher tho. (True Memes Percentage)
bro he hoops at my gym he's the same eternally faded guy the memes show in real life as well its so funny
Swaggy was probably a better defender tho, right? He was, as I recall, quite decent for us in his limited role (on a historically stacked team)
Oh really, I honestly don’t remember that part. I only remember him bombing away, whenever he got the opportunity.
By 2031, Podz is gonna be owning the league so it's an irrelevant pick.
LFG
Can you imagine pairing Steph with a *second* elite 3-point shooter? This team would be unstoppable.
What would you even call such a pairing??
Something clever and catchy that rolls off the tongue. "Two guys really good at shooting basketballs" has a nice ring to it.
3 amigos but there’s 2 of them
Leonard of Quirm? Nice to see you out & about
Splash Buddies
I was gonna say Moist Besties, but I think yours is probably better.
bruh
this is it
Splash Acquaintances at this point

Swish Siblings!
Splash cousins seems pretty on point. Hield is from the bahamas too, and klay has ties there. Curry and klay are already brothers, and klay and hield are cousins, which makes curry a distant cousin... ok I'll stop
Can you imagine pairing Steph with another 7ft shooter? They would be even more unstoppable Let’s cook more MDJ 💪
Buddy about to learn what all the fuss is about regarding Steph's gravity.
Except on the defensive end
Like Steph but bigger
"I can fix him"
he was good for the pacers so he’s definitely got some juice left, the sixers spacing was pretty bad so he didn’t really have a great run for them.
He’s well over 40% on catch and shoot 3s which is the exact role he’ll be in with Steph/Dray/Podz doing most of the ball handling.
Yea, I was half joking. He has some limitations as a player, but can absolutely shoot the rock, and that's valuable. Even if that's the only thing he can do on the court, it has value.
I sincerely apologize MDJ i was not familiar with your game edit: getting Buddy for 2 years 18 million is amazing and having him for a potential 4 years is pretty hype
He’s not done yet 😈
Give us that 7 foot fucker from Finland
![gif](giphy|4QV3FkPYyZI3jhM1Ob|downsized)
Lauri still up for grabs 😈
I think he's mostly done for the season
I don’t know. We have some redundancy now with our wings, I still think moody gets shipped out for something. Where the hell does he fit in this roster now? He’s going to be asking for a trade if he’s still getting 10 min a game with DNP-coaches decisions.
Yeah I like Moody but he just doesn't ever seem to know where to stand or be on offense or defense. He's not a great fit into the Warriors style of basketball but could be a great player on another team.
We have so many guards lol, you’d be crazy to think we aren’t shipping some of them out
Nah I think there’s still one bigger move coming.

Ingram would be a good fit because Ainge is a tightwad. Lauri is too expensive for what they’re asking.
Ingram is a terrible fit
Revisit our current roster… Also, who can you pick up in FA Market? It’s open for discussion… Your opinion counts! Not disagreeing.
I wouldn’t touch Lavine’s contract and has injury problems. I think Ingram would be a good pick up
I would take Lavine if they also bundled the Bulls 2029 FRP.
Unprotected
I think we all are getting familiar with his game.
If he keeps this shit up I’ll delete all my comments previously hating on MDJ
I’ve been hating on him for a min but I kept that shit to myself. Glad I did lol
In 2 years if Hield is still performing, he becomes a must-trade-for contract where a contender will just hand over a late first round pick for him. If he’s toast by then, no big deal. Brilliant move with the contract details.
36/4 but with only 2 years guaranteed and the third year if we need to stretch him only counting as only 600k per season.
Math is not my strong suit lol
Mike D with the master plan I said, Ooh my-my and Thank you, ma'am
He’s Mike D and he gets respect. His cash and your jewelry is what he wants next!
When he’s making his moves they screamin’ Ooh god damn!
My dawg is cooking rn! Heild for 21 over three or Klay for 50?
RIP Moses Moody minutes
Has to be a significant trade coming, otherwise this roster is way too heavy on guards. Even worse than prior seasons.
You don’t like the three guards lineup ? ![gif](giphy|7TbzY48V7btcVP4jWk)
We like 5 guard lineups actually.
Even if we consider Moody could play some SF we also have Wiggins and JK needing minutes there. He can't be the 3rd string SG/SF somethings gotta give. Not to mention we still have GP2.
You forgot who’s coaching lol. Kerr loves his guard lineups.
Moody is a wing.
What will the rotation look like?
Don't know but I know y'all gonna complain about whatever Kerr does.
Yup, that’s my thought too
Better than last year, so far. Melton and Hield should definitely get fewer minutes than Klay and CP3 did last year.
Warriors need to trade him for his sake at this point. Get him on a team where he can at least rely on consistent minutes off the bench.
Man got his ring. Time to go get his PT. I think Moody can stick in the NBA. Just seems like it has to happen somewhere else.
For cheap too! Only a second round pick for him. Wonder what else Dunleavy is cooking 🤔
Besides a trade for like Markkanen, vet mins only
If that Markkanen trade goes thru we’re back in business🤣🤣
Is that Seth Curry's music?!?
I’m hoping that’s the case. Sounds like they are trying to move Wiggs to get some picks. Let’s see what happens.
I don’t think someone is willing to give picks for this version of Wiggins
It’s possible that we could shuffle around positive assets+Wiggins to get picks in a big multi-team deal for Lauri.
If the Markkanen trade does not happen, we need a big man desperately and we have way too many guards lol. Steph, Melton, Hield, Moody, Podz, GPII.
Most teams don’t even use their TPE’s, Dunleavy got Buddy + Slo Mo. A sign and trade requires 3 years minimum, at least one year guaranteed. Wonder what the contract looks like. Yes I think it has to fit into the same TPE, so around 7mil a year, either 3 or 4 years with a player option to convince him I'm assuming
Even if Buddy can’t play defense, $7M/yr seems like a pretty good deal. At worst, he’s a good regular season body, and I’m not too worried about potential playoff performances right now lol e: Comes out to more than 7M/yr with the guarantee, but that still seems like a pretty good deal
Yeah. Duncan Robinson is making $19.4m this season. I don't think they are that different if players.
to me he might turn into trade asset
I'm so used to being up in cap hell so we always have to settle for vet mins for a year meaning we have to find new guys every year. And it's all possible because he dumped that anchor contract in Poole the year before, at very little cost.
We got Buddy Hield for a middle schooler. LFG
4th of july warriors news we are so back and back with a BANG
Sometimes you land KD, sometimes it's Buddy Hield.

Damn I’ll never forget 4th of July 2016
Keep cookin MDJ. Making the most out of this situation.
Shams is so eager to get this news out
That’s his job
Man wants to enjoy his 4th
So if I have this correct, they used the picks and TPE from Klay trade to gey SloMo and Hield? That's a pretty damn good return.
Yes
No Gui Santos included in the deal

lol her man went from smiling to the “this is fine” face
Hield also doesn't miss games. 79 gp average at 15ppg is not bad. Edit: Dude played 84 games last year 😮
Wonder if they couldn’t fold the deal into a multi-team Lauri trade and that’s why this took a sec
I think the hold up was the $ negotiations between Buddy and GS hadn't been ironed out yet
Yay!
really great guy to have off the bench with kyle Anderson. i think melton starting at 2 with steph seems to be the move due to his defense and solid outside shooting

So who’s starting at the 2? Podz? We’ll get cooked even more on defense. At least buddy can stretch the floor and take away triple team on Steph.
Na I said melton starts. He’s basically GP2 but he can shoot 3s and is 26. I agree about Podz. He’s scrappy and smart, but will still get cooked by SGA, Jamal Murray, Ant, Kyrie. I like Podz as back up pg personally. Or in a trade for a better player lol
melton. good defender and a decent 3 point shooter
Excited for the melton signing then anything else, I felt like he and slow mo cooked us whenever we played them while they were in Memphis. Melton just needs to stay healthy.

GIVE ME LAURI NOW PLS

Let’s fucking go 🔥

Most importantly, Buddy knows he's a role player, so Kerr can manage him like one.
Ive always liked Buddy, ever since he was at OK. I’m starting to like the team a lot, I think we’re better than last year already.
Lost a brother but got ourselves a Buddy
![gif](giphy|13LlAxmDwAkopO) Let him cook, 👨🍳
For a 2nd round pick is insane value
MDJ inherited a challenging situation (no shade to Bob) and has done a really good job, imho. I like the move, given our financial situation!
one bahamian out, one bahamian in–– these are the rules
Very solid pick-ups. We’re DEFINITELY better than last year.
We’re one Finnish boy away from another ring 😈
IN THE SPOT AND I CAME WITH THE FELLAS 💪 We are SO FUCKING BACK don’t give us shooters
Let’s go! We got Klay at home
I strangely want a hield warriors jersey
I want that splash buddies merch
Might be time to move on from Lauri and go get Ingram before someone else does. This team will be competitive if we can get either of those guys and don’t want us to miss out on
ingram doesn‘t move the ball, he doesn‘t fit.
We have stackhouse his childhood mentor now on the coaching staff
He will learn in this scheme. We can’t be too picky, there are only so many options out there to get a second guy next to Steph.
i dont want another oubre
Now let’s all pray we get that 7 footer being held hostage in Utah 🙏
MDJ been in his bag since last summer. Dude is making logical, planned moves and not ones based off emotions. At this point I’m trusting him blindly.
So far, hated losing Klay but I like what they are adding.
I like all these moves just worried about meltons back injury
I think I have enough faith in our teams sports medicine department to manage his health throughout the season (I could be wrong here once the season starts and he already goes out)
Holy shit, amazing pickup
I remember him being comped to Steph during his draft season. Now he gets to play with him
Lauri or ingrim next and we can finally compete for play in again
With Lauri we're a lock for a top 6 seed.
If curry and dray don't miss much games yea 6th seed might be open
And yet these days in the West, it's been like 1, 2, 3, 4 then 5-12 interchangeably...
The difference between 3 (Minnesota) to 4 (Clippers) is 5 games. The difference between 5 (Mavs) to 10 (Warriors) is 4. 11-15 aren’t really close.
What move could make us a playoff team again?
We traded a Bahamian for another Bahamian
Now we just need Kerr to not overplay him
Damn Im ngl , i was clowning on the GM a couple days ago. But gotta admit he did great.
As Lauri fan, please Shams, announce the Lauri trade already.
Wow he went from 20+million a year to 20 million for 2 years + po thats some business
Splash... guys?

Hield is going to LOVE Steve Kerr
Aight we just need a lob threat who can bully ball a lot of 4s and set hard ass picks. Doesn't have to be able to shoot well but needs to be an interior presence. Then I like our odds.
i love this
I was screaming for this move years ago, seems like a good fit now, hopefully he’s consistent
Can someone explain the Moody obsession from Warriors fans? There is nothing in his game that truly stands out. Great kid but a very mediocre player.
WE GOT OUR GUY. EVERYONE GET IN HERE /s
I mean, without much wiggle room, getting Melton, Anderson and Hield who together cover a lot of key areas of the game, this is a win. However they have to someone like Lauri or Ingram for it to really matter.
Uhhh what 😮

MDJ IS COOKING
based off previous rumors, he’ll be taking up the rest of the TPE from the Klay deal
Cool. You’re not done yet MDJ, keep going sir…
Weird contract, and we still don’t have all the details. seems like it’s 4/36, with easy outs in years 3 and 4
Let **MIKE D** cook 🧑🍳
