A three piece is what I have , top with teeth , middle piece , and bottom. Grinders with a screen have a fourth piece that holds the kief at the bottom.
Grinders like that are better in a way, the keif that gets shook off the bud get reshook into the ground bud at the same time so instead of having it separate its together and your weed isnt losing strength (as opposed to the keif being separated out to be smoked later)
My friend also swears by this. I’ve tried it myself but have found that personally it just gets in my dang way all the time lol. I’ve never kept it in my grinder long enough to see any difference. But again, my friend has been doing it for years and her grinder is always cleaner looking than mine but I couldn’t say for a fact that it does anything or not.
Happens to me all the time i usesually need to brush it out with a toothbrush every couple of days or so becouse i am to lazy to properly clean my shit aparently
Some weed just doesn’t lose the Keef. Some types lose more than others. A sticky bud is going to generally have far less Keef than a nice dry bud that you can crush between your fingers. Love both but I enjoy a more Keef covered bud personally. So my grinder fills with Keef quite fast, while someone who prefers a nice sticky icky ( sorry I know I know, but I had to say it 🤣) bud will get much less Keef, this isn’t always the case but it’s been my experience the past 20 years lol.

Stainless grinders are awesome. Once they get too dirty to use, you can just throw them in a little tub of rubbing alcohol for about an hour (or while your at work thats what i do) and then take it out and put it back together after it dries. Do Not, grind weed with a grinder with wet rubbing alcohol on it it is bad for you and the weed

In principle, this is a mixture of traditional dry sieving and cold extraction (like bubble or butane hash production) just try it out with a small amount and look forward to delicious trichomes 😉
Exactly, just put a small coin in the sieve compartment, chop up the weed, then put it in the freezer and you leave it in for 10/20 minutes, then gently shake it in a circular motion. A few seconds are enough. (Don't shake for too long otherwise you will get plant material)
I've tried it with different types of weed, the yield is always higher than with normal grinding.

It depends on the weed. Strength and quality don't seem to have an effect on how much you get, but ive noticed if its a little dry it makes more kief. really sticky weed doesnt shed kief as much in my experience.
Ive got some really strong stuff at the moment, Grinded loads and hardly any kief at all.
I threw a dollar coin in, Sacajawea to be precise. And now she knocks off the keef and makes sure the mesh stays clean. Every so often I thwap the grinder like a can of dip to make sure the coin hits. I've heard of people putting a dime in the keef section to make sure it gets knocked around and starts making clumps. About once a week or so I take a nice dip from my keef and layer it into a bowl.
Might want to start by cleaning the screen. It might be problem and it could be something that just needs to be replaced altogether.
Before that replacement though, after cleaning try shaking the grinder after grinding. Not up and down, but side to side. This should help any keif go through the screen instead of just sitting on top.
Make sure to take catcher off before emptying grinder as well. If you still not collecting any, then replace screen or grinder altogether.
Pic has yours looking to be in fairly good condition thou, so who knows.
You might need to clean your grinder. Once you get a sticky bud in there the Keef will stick to any spot that the sticky is left over and it will take every bit of your Keef. I always have to clean my screen once it starts to get caked and then also won’t let the Keef thru. Your screen might also not have small enough holes. You just have to try a few things to see which it is for you.
I got an electronic grinder that looks like a flashlight and it produces a lot of keef with every grind. I ended up saving it for a while to make homemade moon rocks out of it. Now I mainly smoke dabs
Taking the scoop out can help. It breaks everything up when it’s in there and sometimes if your grinder’s in your bag or getting moved around a lot the keif will shake back through the screen
Idk how real this is but I tend to notice more Kief when I smoke bowls regularly. I feel like I get more when I grind smaller buds, but I’m not 100% certain
Hey friend. Most kief gets stuck to the grinder. So i suggest what i usually do to keep my grinder from sticking up and stuff. Is taking a brush ((a nail brush tooth brush or my favorite those little brushes to clean your elecrical shavers with.) And be sure to do this over a wide tray or table cause it will fly away somwtimes if you brush to hard. But gently run it slong the edges and there will be a very nice pile at the end. Hope this helped
Also if yiu are trying to get kief. Place a quarter or some kind of change into the bottom of grinder and shake it about for abit. Back and forth in a circle a few times. Also helps knock kief down. Also can hold the frinder upside down when you grind so it grinds the bud for a longer period creating more kief
The real question is why anyone wants the kief not their joint. People strive to grow amazing weed with lots of trichomes so that you can smoke them inside said joint and get higher. Trying to slowly intentionally separate a bunch of the trichomes as they oxidize and go bad at room temp instead of smoking them in your joint is a waste of good trichomes. You’re not getting anything of value by separating the kief that way. And in this day and age people make amazing hash and rosin products that you can buy to add to your weed instead of taking trichomes away. The best grinders don’t have kief screens for a good reason. Just food for thought. ✌️
It's all in the weed man. I've been thinking the same thing, I remember back in the day it would fill up quick it seemed like. But I got some but the other day and it nearly filled that bad boy up. Tripped me out lol
start running like a little flat bike skrewdriver over your screen and tap the screen causing the trapped kief to fall into the Honeypot. may need a better screen but also sift thru your weed and get a little of the excess to come off and stay in the filter for later. also if your smoking more sativa then indica you'll get less of the dust you desire by the nature of the tree you smoke. one cool way you can get some encouraged keif is breaking down pre rolls and running them thru the screen they usually are ground so fine that it should be easy to get some. happy smoking bruv
You need better bud or your grinder screen is completely caked up with resin and nothing gets through anymore. If that’s the case just buy a new grinder
While it is good stuff it’s not the biggest deal in the world. I guess I’m just spoiled with dispensaries that sell it by the gram for ~20 bucks. I stopped using grinders with kief catchers.
I don’t use the grinder portion. I just use scissors and cut weed on top of the screen. I get so much kief.
Even and 1/8 would produce more kief than that for me.

More information required, can you please Show a picture of the screen? Maybe check the screen to make sure there isn't some factory plastic protector on it maybe? I think even a shitty screen would have more than that.
For everyone wanting to get more keif out of their grinder. Put a dime in the part that collects the weed as you grind it. After every smoke session take your grinder and shake it. For a minute or longer. Promise you it'll triple the amount of kief you'll usually acquire. Been doing this for the last decade
I got a rubix cube grinder off of Temu and I’m telling yous all it’s the best grinder I’ve EVER had, catches unreal amounts of crystals when the greeen isn’t sticky, cost me £7 including delivery
I never really got why people try to save their kief anyway. It loses it's after a few weeks/month and it's nice to use it as you get it. Why have sub-par joints when you can have a good joint every time
I've found there are some dealers that will take the bud and shake it to break off the trichomes and fine particles that make up kief. They will keep it and resell it or use it themselves.
Note: this does not apply to all. I just know some who do and have heard of it happening. I know dealers who sell the kief separately, which is bullshit. I don't buy from them.
If you consistently have fresh sticky herb, the trichomes/keif won't fall off as easily. If you want a good amount of keif, you gotta work at it and shake it or smack it against your palm like a pack of smokes. Just using it as a daily grinder will take forever to gather a decent amount of keif. Also clean the screen if it's gunked up.
I've been keeping my grinder in the freezer when not in use and the amount of kief that falls through the screen when used is kinda what I'm using to make moon rocks.
Try hitting the screen with a lighter or torch it’ll stink like hell maybe do it outside…should see a little blue chemical on the screen burning from the middle to the outside…I do this with all my new grinders if you’ve already done it you might need to do it again depending on how fresh your buds are…if that doesn’t work throw it in the freezer for ten minutes and put a clean coin on top of the screen and shake the hell out of it…hope this helps 🤘🏻🫵🏻
I put a nickel in my grinder and shake it back and forth. Also some strains just don’t give off a lot of Kief and that’s ok. If you wanna clean it and try to get more I also freeze my grinder and smack it on its side kinda hard on something solid and that clears the screen as well
Pro tip throw a nickel in the part with the screen and put it in the freezer for a good 15 to 20 minutes when it gets done violently shake the grinder and then see how much kief you have after you’ve shaken it for 5 minutes. Also I would leave the nickel in while you grind the weed and while you freeze and shake the grinder. This has been the easiest way for me to yield high amounts of kief from my grinder
Take your scraper out of the kief trap lol. The kief is spose ti stick to the bottom, you are agitating it and sending it back through the screen. I see people do this all the time, kief trap is for kief only. A coin above the screen? Sure. Even keep the scraper there. But leave the trap empty
Mine looks almost identical, just orange. The screen is garbage and when I dump it out you can see all the keif still stuck to the screen and bud. I usually have to brush it out.
I use brilliant cut grinders (grinder for life) , it has been amazing. Nothing it doesn’t instantly grind & no kief chamber so you get 100% efficiency from your bud.
It also depends on what kind of weed you're smoking. If you usually have pretty sticky weed, you won't grt much keef at all. Or if it's a low thc strain.

As I understand it, the coin, as you grind, knocks trichomes off your freshly ground bud and helps push those trichomes through the screen.
The science behind it makes sense lol. I think I’m just entirely too OCD and impatient to leave it long enough.

The screen is fairly clear but it is sticky…think it’s time for another grinder.
Try some isopropyl/rubbing alcohol and a small brush if the soap & hot water doesn't clean it.
You can take soap and water to it with a tiny brush and get every bit of it off. No need for a new grinder!
And you take their word for it? That keif is going somewhere. I cleaned my metal grinder with 91% alcohol. It’s not like new but better.

Your bud might have been kiefed before it landed in your hands

Damn that’s crazy I’ve been using a new grinder for about a year and even I have WAYYYY more kief. Tbh it could be the screen or you’ve smoked it all before it got to the collector half. I also heard you can put a small coin and shake it to help
Screen is clogged with the sticky stuff. Use some alcohol to clean just the screen, grind some bud up , and you will see keif again almost instantly.
That black thing is actually a very quiet tiny vacuum. Don't ask me how to empty it. I don't know.

More information required, can you please Show a picture of the screen? Maybe check the screen to make sure there isn't some factory plastic protector on it maybe? I think even a shitty screen would have more than that.
Depends on screen ,every couple of g's I use a safety pin and lighty run over screen , don't cheap out on grinders
For everyone wanting to get more keif out of their grinder. Put a dime in the part that collects the weed as you grind it. After every smoke session take your grinder and shake it. For a minute or longer. Promise you it'll triple the amount of kief you'll usually acquire. Been doing this for the last decade

I never really got why people try to save their kief anyway. It loses it's after a few weeks/month and it's nice to use it as you get it. Why have sub-par joints when you can have a good joint every time
Clean the screen out.
I've found there are some dealers that will take the bud and shake it to break off the trichomes and fine particles that make up kief. They will keep it and resell it or use it themselves. Note: this does not apply to all. I just know some who do and have heard of it happening. I know dealers who sell the kief separately, which is bullshit. I don't buy from them.

My grinder looks like the same model and I don’t get a lot of keif out of it either. Sometimes I’ll scrape the screen and that helps a little.
If you consistently have fresh sticky herb, the trichomes/keif won't fall off as easily. If you want a good amount of keif, you gotta work at it and shake it or smack it against your palm like a pack of smokes. Just using it as a daily grinder will take forever to gather a decent amount of keif. Also clean the screen if it's gunked up.
Had the same exact grinder pissed me off and only got it bc the guy told me it was great at collecting allot of Kief

Be careful collecting your broken down material, at least with my fat fingers I feel like everytime I touch the mesh screen I clog it.
I've been keeping my grinder in the freezer when not in use and the amount of kief that falls through the screen when used is kinda what I'm using to make moon rocks.
I have a cali crusher and have about 2 oz of kief right now that I’ve collected since Christmas.

Try hitting the screen with a lighter or torch it’ll stink like hell maybe do it outside…should see a little blue chemical on the screen burning from the middle to the outside…I do this with all my new grinders if you’ve already done it you might need to do it again depending on how fresh your buds are…if that doesn’t work throw it in the freezer for ten minutes and put a clean coin on top of the screen and shake the hell out of it…hope this helps 🤘🏻🫵🏻

I put a nickel in my grinder and shake it back and forth. Also some strains just don’t give off a lot of Kief and that’s ok. If you wanna clean it and try to get more I also freeze my grinder and smack it on its side kinda hard on something solid and that clears the screen as well

I've always been told if this happens to put the grinder in the freezer overnight, and then the next day hit it to shake the kief off the screen?
Pro tip throw a nickel in the part with the screen and put it in the freezer for a good 15 to 20 minutes when it gets done violently shake the grinder and then see how much kief you have after you’ve shaken it for 5 minutes. Also I would leave the nickel in while you grind the weed and while you freeze and shake the grinder. This has been the easiest way for me to yield high amounts of kief from my grinder
Take your scraper out of the kief trap lol. The kief is spose ti stick to the bottom, you are agitating it and sending it back through the screen. I see people do this all the time, kief trap is for kief only. A coin above the screen? Sure. Even keep the scraper there. But leave the trap empty

Mine looks almost identical, just orange. The screen is garbage and when I dump it out you can see all the keif still stuck to the screen and bud. I usually have to brush it out.

New strands of weed are very resinous ehm only way is to oven dry them before grinding them but it will make the taste less weedy and more smokey

I use brilliant cut grinders (grinder for life) , it has been amazing. Nothing it doesn’t instantly grind & no kief chamber so you get 100% efficiency from your bud.
Gotta toss it in the freezer it will help separate better you can move the screen an the weed will fall off best it can
It also depends on what kind of weed you're smoking. If you usually have pretty sticky weed, you won't grt much keef at all. Or if it's a low thc strain.
