If it weren't for the Ween cameo, literally no one would still be thinking about this movie.

GreasyMcNasty

Except for the RedLetterMedia video, where Rich Evans is caressing a DVD copy of it.

[deleted]

I wrote off Ween for years because my only impression of them was how lame it was that Pat was doing the song with them.

Pwnerr69

“I play with Ween!!”

Billy_Boognish

"THE WEEN!"

Goldeneel77

What’s a Ween?

diurnal_emissions

Dunno, but it's brown.

EugWeenOR

Gross.

murrdy2

Not as such,  Pat

EugWeenOR

I thought the movie was really bad. Deaner and Gener however, did a really good job and came across wholesome af, imo. I think it's really a shame that they've never been asked to preform on SNL.

diurnal_emissions

I like to think there's a timeline when the movie isn't utter garbage, and Ween is propelled to international stardom so early in their career that the wealth generated by this inspires Glenn to pursue his love of abstract physics. As a byproduct of him being able to afford the most expensive of labs at the time, he perfects long-stage plasma and accomplishes fusion in the early '00s. A lot of the strife caused by 9/11 is instantly washed away in an infinite energy future where we can turn the middle east into a lush paradise through greenhouses and infinite energy. Climate change is solved through scrubbers. The ocean is cleaned and water scarcity eliminated through desalination, all because Glenn produced the first self-sustaining fusion device mankind knew. The infinite energy ends the need for war, and humanity finally returns back to basom. It's gonna be alright. So many people in the neighborhood realize they can stay forever up on the hill. The ol' fucked jam is dead. No more waving our dick in the wind. Right to the ways and the rules of the world, a tender situation ends with humanity no longer pumpin 4 the man. The Brown Utopia encompasses the Earth, and finally all humanity realizes we are, each and every one, just one shade of brown or another. We are all down with that brown sound. Shortly afterwards, the singularity leads to the rise of the terminator class drones, and they genocide about 95% of humanity in an effort to advance "Manifest Computancy." They never foresaw the development of time travel, though, the foolish binary toasters. No, they did not.

Skank_wrangler

Why would you wish death upon Glenn?

diurnal_emissions

I am not a toaster.

[deleted]

I wonder how much of that 8million the boys got.

stripestore

They made at least one new lifelong fan from it.

MrEndlessness

Same here. First exposure to Ween at 11 years old.

seeingeyegod

Probably just gave them each a Pork roll and cheese with bacon

[deleted]

Or mushrooms from Safeway

valer13ftw

was he shooting shit?

Mundus_Vult_Decipi

Yeah, but I played it off legit. (NOTE: my favorite Ween lyric is "My mom bought me a cool shirt, when I wear it I'm "The Shit"! I'm not really that legit. My mom bought it."

valer13ftw

no way this is also my favorite lyric from ween. i think about it everyday.

Mundus_Vult_Decipi

/hugs

doctorlongghost

Moms are the best

Clean_Judge_3613

He was, but he played it off legit

TheSilverCalf

I used to own it only VHS until all my VHS and Cassette tapes got mildewed and had to be destroyed. Though i did stumble upon this recently! https://preview.redd.it/ien2txn9oync1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=b648ed9b7fb52cc30a4cb09de18748f324f008bf OG! Not the “Green Jello” copy but still has clout!

Killjoytshirts

Little pig little pig let me in…

[deleted]

Pig Nugent…best video ever

CrystalWebb13

I named one of my pigs in Stardew Valley Pig Nugent.

keelgar

Great stuff and people may not know they were a precursor to Tool, both Maynard and Danny were in the band.

TheSilverCalf

Seriously? Christ…

keelgar

Yes!  Maynard is the one signing "Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin" on 3 Little Pigs and you can see them in some of their old live footage.

CrystalWebb13

I had the original Green Jello VHS and I miss it soooo much.

VictorBlimpmuscle

Fun fact: the outfit they’re wearing in their cameo in *It’s Pat* is [the same one they’re wearing on the back cover of *Pure Guava*.](https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieDetails/comments/13mug6p/in_its_pat_the_movie_1994_when_the_band_ween/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)

audioword

those mushrooms are from safeway

OrangeWeekly1748

Funny film

djhazmatt503

Revisiting the film, it's not even as "problematic" as one would assume. If anything, it's a pretty bad/cheesy "accept people for who they are on the inside" 90s comedy. Think Shallow Hal.

mjkluio789666

Totally agree. I actually re-watched it recently after stumbling across the ween clips on YouTube. My parents showed me this as a kid before I knew ween cuz they were such SNL fans. It’s what you would expect from an SNL sketch movie, basically just one joke throughout the whole film. I liked it, and the message that it actually doesn’t matter at all what pats gender is lol

TheWingus

My brother and I rented it for an overnight stay at my grandparents house. “I played with the Ween” became a running joke in my family for years until it came on one of those fancy Comcast movie channels when I was like 16. I was **BLOWN AWAY** by their performance of “Don’t Get 2 Close” at the finale and immediately Limewire’d all I could. Then bought God WEEN Satan and Pure Guava with my money from my part time job. And the rest as they say, is THE STALLION

Stenka-Razin

Yeah, the joke is never on Pat for being androgynous, but rather the people who are obsessed with their gender. Likewise Pat is annoying but this is never tied to their androgyny. There are even other Androgynous characters in the film that are equally annoyed by Pat's obliviousness.

dittohead420

It’s not problematic whatsoever

ReallyGlycon

Surprisingly unproblematic is the only good thing you can say about It's Pat..

dittohead420

Lol! I liked it, but I can see why it was received poorly, it’s no Wayne’s World, but I genuinely did like it. Ween’s cameo played a huge part in me liking it.

Key_Text_169

Would love to know if someone has the Ween van sitting in a garage somewhere.

upstatestruggler

I rewatched this not long ago (not ashamed to admit I watched this shit in the THEATAH when it came out) and I was wondering whatever became of the Ween van

Cheezy_Blazterz

It may have been a critical and box office failure, but it's hands down one of the TOP 10 films that prominently feature Ween.

TheWingus

What are the other 9 films that prominently feature WEEN?

captainbeautylover63

Julia Sweeney deserved much,much better.

Tempest_Fugit

Well at least she was in Pulp Fiction

Aus5678

Tarantino is believed to be an uncredited writer on It's Pat.

seeingeyegod

she definitely didn't deserve cancer.

gatursuave

This is how I discovered Ween

Panicbrewer

Same… that don’t get too close hooked me. And the tuba.

StIdes-and-a-swisher

I really liked this movie. I saw it in theaters when it came out. I’ve seen it multiple times since.

BoriScrump

same here a fan of this movie

cwiir

I absolutely love this movie, it makes me cackle unlike many things. I love its disposition, how weird it can be, the world is creates.. it's incredibly underrated. Also this is the movie that introduced me to WEEN!

StIdes-and-a-swisher

I work with a guy who looks identical to Pat. I’m always fucking with him. Pat is a great trope.

GroundbreakingCat

This is literally one of my fav movies. I don’t care what the critics say!

justvisiting7744

say what you will about the movie but at least ween are living comfortably of their its pat royalties

BillyBathfarts

So surprised to learn it bombed so bad. I’ve seen it a couple times. Enjoyed it and the sketches with Pat on SNL. 94 was the same year Julia Sweeney had a small part in Pulp Fiction. I always liked her.

SmooveTits

I thought the recurring SNL skit was funny, but the joke wore off after a while and then I was like *they made a fuckin Pat movie?* That was dumb, lol. I don't think I ever saw it, just the Ween clip.

tvtango

Where’ve you been?

Capnlanky

Rented this from blockbuster back in the day. Woof. The SNL skits werent that strong either but cool Ween made an appearance.

RomanosTheMelodist

I wonder if this is what deaner was talking about

svxvvz

i discovered this when i first got into ween and i was really sad they didn't actually have a ween-mobile

TheOriginalSneil

I saw this movie when it was released on whatever movie channel we had for the satellite back then. I saw it twice I remember that and I remember trying to figure out if Pat was a man or a woman but I don't remember ween.

big_hungry_joe

thanks for the heads up
