I worked at Wendy’s in high school and can tell you exactly what happened. Guy working fries only had that much fries left and instead of telling you to pull forward and wait on more fries they gave you what they had left and didn’t fill the container
One time I pulled up and I was the only car there with nobody behind me so I asked if I could just wait at the window and the employee nearly turned red in the face before throwing their hands up and demanding I pull up.

Because all fast food drive thrus are on a timer and the longer a car sits there the more trouble they get in. I am a former fast food manager and this is simply the reason. Don’t get irritated at the staff if they ask this. There is obviously a reason why they do this. It’s not just to irritate you. And I’m sure they appreciate the fact you wanted to “save them the walk” but yet you still asked for a reason because there were no cars behind you which was literally what everyone does in this situation. Not accusing you of being a jerk about it. But 99% of people ARE.
Used to work at mcd’s, they get press bout their time being high or them trying to keep the drive thru time low. Me personally, I used to be understanding bout it because I experienced it… but once I got pulled up 3 times straight and I just couldn’t take it anymore and refused to pull up. It pissed em off but I understand both ends. I still pull up 99.9% of the time it’s a people thing and an issue that will never not persist, I think both sides can have good reasons to be reasonably upset
If you know the reason why this is done why are you also a dick for refusing to pull up because you couldn’t take it anymore. Lmao. Don’t go through the drive thru and take your ass inside then.

I’ve contacted Wendy’s corporate a couple of times and they’ve always responded in a timely manner and resolved the issue.
