This is a cockpit panel but was part of Nasa's test simulator.. The paper about this particular system can be found here. [https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/19900017998](https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/19900017998)
You can also use the "underscore" before & after the desired tex to format _italic_, __bold__, or ___bold italic___ text.
1 underscore = italic, 2 = bold, and 3= bold italic.
Mine doesn’t either but I’m on iPhone, I might be completely wrong but I think the options are just a PC thing, as they show up on my home PC but not my phone
Yes, the Skylab orbital workshop was launched using a modified Saturn V originally meant for one of the cancelled Apollo missions.
Crew flew on smaller Saturn 1Bs.
This is the SpaceLab Control Panel R7. As Oryihn point's out, it is probably from a simulator. An illustration of this panel can be seen in the SpaceLab News Reference release, Page 3-38 (pdf page 58):
God I love people who are into space/ flight! Yall are nuts with the speed/ efficiency of your responses and God the accuracy! Yall act like pilots in the knowledge space!
Kid's gonna have the only blanket fort on the block with a real spaceship control panel.
NGL I'm kinda jelly.
I'd build a spaceship fort as an adult to play with that.
Family that worked around this stuff. I have a folder of “top secret” (probably no longer top secret) photographs from my grandfather detailing all kinds of prototype aircraft/missiles/etc. He was a Vietnam Vet E-9 Navy guy for 25+ years who spent the back half of his life testing all that stuff for Northrop Grumman, McDonald Douglas, Bell, Boeing, etc.
Meh, just store it next to the corvette in the garage, it'll be fine. Or at every single room in your residence at the golf course.
There, I managed to piss off both sides, probably.
Not an aircraft panel, this is a panel that was used for ground testing of the [Spacelab module](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacelab), which flew in the cargo holds of space shuttles during the early part of the Shuttle era.
Also, it’s a way cool thing to have. No practical use now, but an interesting bit of space memorabilia.
It's still cool af and there can't be more than a couple more in existence. I watch a LOT of the Antiques Roadshow (the original and the usa version), and they ALWAYS stress to DOCUMENT the provenance.
Buddy that is a functional aircraft panel which is amazing sometimes pieces of aircraft are given out when that aircraft performs well beyond its intended service life or mission set set to be honest what you need to do is take a good solid picture of the control panel reverse Google search it and see what comes up because that could be a several hundred thousand dollar component. Also do not remove the plastic caps on the connectors
It’s part of a training simulator for military/space flight students. Was able to find some of these online and doesn’t match any exactly but seems most similar to the Apollo 10 group to me.
its complete trash, please have him send it to me and Ill pay ya scrap for it /s
actually- thats one of the coolest things Ive seen on reddit in a while. . .
I got one of these with my japanese bidet as well. I particularly enjoy the fire suppression function! I have yet to try the “experiment safing” functionality out of abject fear.
That's an aircraft panel. If it's from a modern aircraft that is in production, and it's a functional panel (I don't recognize it though), it could be worth upwards of 100-200k to the right folks.
That is very very cool, you guys should make it into a display somehow, mount it in a wooden or aluminum panel. It would be really cool if you could get a power supply for it so the lights work.
Get ahold of Steve Jurvetson. He has more money than God and likes to spend it collecting space-related hardware. If this tickles his fancy, he’ll pay real money for it.
I don't know, but it looks like it came out of one of the Apollo Command or Lunar modules, or a simulator for astronaut training to pilot them. Very cool!
Although it says non flight, I would say it's a training panel for the astronauts. You know, duct tape it to a cardboard box and cut little windows in the box and train.
Spacelab was a science module fitted to the space shuttle on some missions. And this thing definitely looks like a part of the shuttle’s control panel.
Looks like the British R7 control panel from the Spacelab orbiter…used for the AC control. https://www.esa.int/About_Us/ESA_history/How_we_made_Spacelab
It’s a panel for a simulator, it’s cheaper then using real panels because in aerospace there’s expensive testing and tighter tolerances, it’s cheaper to get one made because it doesn’t have to be FAA rated.
If he wants to sell it I bet it would be worth a decent amount of money on RR Auction [https://www.rrauction.com/departments/space-exploration](https://www.rrauction.com/departments/space-exploration)

I was about to state the same. Quick draw McGraw.
That's what she said
Only once.
It’s because you are so pretty
To be fair, this stuff is designed to be very close to actual equipment. So it's kinda like it's a real panel.
*To be fai-uh*
Letterkenny is awsome
Still pretty cool
cake cake
Hey Babalouie.
EL KABONG!
Thanks for the info.
Had to update the response a bit as I found more information.. See above! Super cool item to have!
How does one put a line through their response ? That alone is pretty neat imho

Thank you so much for this!
You can also use the "underscore" before & after the desired tex to format _italic_, __bold__, or ___bold italic___ text. 1 underscore = italic, 2 = bold, and 3= bold italic.
Good to know!
Coolest thing I’ve seen today

What! My phone doesn't give those options. Must be because it's an android.
Mine doesn’t either but I’m on iPhone, I might be completely wrong but I think the options are just a PC thing, as they show up on my home PC but not my phone
Two tildes on either side of the word or words you want to strike through. \~~word~~
Ha, I was really sitting here contemplating, just how dumb I may be. I didn't think it was an option on any phone..lol
Not dumb at all! It’s not intuitive knowledge
So true. Thanks
https://www.reddit.com/r/raerth/comments/cw70q/reddit_comment_formatting/?rdt=51393 That's the site I reference when I forget how to do fancy things.
_you are special to me_ _thank you_
Lol no problem and I hope you enjoy it
OMG you've opened Pandora's box. This is so cool and I don't know why. Thanks.. I feel complete.
Exactomondo
Ahh yeah was on my computer
Reddit has a collection of how to make things look a certain way on mobiles. I had to google it, but there are several.
On my phone tilde tilde word tilde tilde ~~word~~ Tilde -> ~
\~~word\~~ By using ‘ \ ‘ backslash before operators, you can prevent formatting from taking place.
Ikr?!? Lol
\~~tilde tilde\~~ = ~~tilde tilde~~
Google "reddit formatting guide," or find it in the help menu. Lots of neat stuff. Just don't go overboard, redditors like things tidy.
Wow! Thanks!
lol what kind of friends does this kid have whose gifting this thing? And to a kid? lol it’s pretty awesome honestly.
Yes, Space Lab vs SkyLab
Spacelab was the shuttle based research pod created by the Europeans but launched on Nasa Shuttles.. Where Skylab was a stand-alone research sattelite
And Skynet sees humans as a threat to its existence.
And visa-versa.
“He started iiiiiiit!”
I don't care who started it you're both going back to 1984.
George Orwell approves
Wasn't skylab more of a space station that NASA put up?
Yes, the Skylab orbital workshop was launched using a modified Saturn V originally meant for one of the cancelled Apollo missions. Crew flew on smaller Saturn 1Bs.
Still awesome though
Thanks for the time spent on your thorough answer. It's very interesting.

Ngl...that's a cool piece of aviation electronics
Kid's gonna have the only blanket fort on the block with a real spaceship control panel. NGL I'm kinda jelly. I'd build a spaceship fort as an adult to play with that.
agree, history right there
Probably to a simulator because the sticker says “Non flight Hardware” very cool tho.
How does one even get gifted this
Family that worked around this stuff.
Agent "X" will be arriving within the hour to retrieve said Top Secret information. Do not attempt to flee.
Meh, just store it next to the corvette in the garage, it'll be fine. Or at every single room in your residence at the golf course. There, I managed to piss off both sides, probably.
Lol, McDonald Douglas https://preview.redd.it/2kvh4ou60q7d1.png?width=935&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e62620002f0cb2caac121b484a4552d04944f11
Lol, good catch. I’m leaving it for the laugh haha.
That's what I came here to ask! Lol
That's a tractor beam control board found on a Death Star.
Discarded because the Borg decided they didn't want it.
It was found at jar jar binks's garage sale
This is Reddit. We use bananas for scale.
Right? What’s the croc to banana conversion scale?
Or a cat paw
I’ll take what falls off a Boeing jet for $400
i would have no need for something like this but i would love to have something like this.
Same
That's a cool piece of history.
I think I can tell you, but I need to know what size the croc is :) Thats an awesome gift. Your stepson is super lucky!
My uncle was a photographer for NASA until last year. He’d love this.
Looks like simulator equipment NASA used. Apollo 13 movie had one in it. Keep this, not many of these floating around. Great piece of history
It's still cool af and there can't be more than a couple more in existence. I watch a LOT of the Antiques Roadshow (the original and the usa version), and they ALWAYS stress to DOCUMENT the provenance.
It’s a freakin amazing gift is what it is. Whatever it is.
I thought we used a banana for scale. What's this croc stuff? I feel old.
That’s dope. That’s what it is. dope
Also, you can put your weed in there.
'croc for scale'...Americans really will use anything but the metric system
That’s because a croc sucks a lot less than the metric system.
Metric system for scale? How does that work. Obviously OP is a newbie that has no bananas.
The first picture looks like a CROC next to some type of electronic device. I'll show my way out.
Pretty sure it’s for the right foot.
‘Space lab’ panel from a rocket capsule ?
I like the Croc for scale. 🤣
Something from Area 51 maybe?
Something touched many times by real astronauts? So cool.
Don’t worry, without the uranium it’s useless.
It's super fucking rad is what that is
Cool as fuck that’s what it is
A Croc, available in various sizes ranging from toddler to adult, is not a very effective scale reference
I don’t care.
Yeah keep the caps on, you don't want to get any FOD in those connectors, since that might make the connector unreliable when it's used again
That is the flux capacitor control panel from the DeLorean. Doc and Marty have been looking for that since 1985
How cool, lucky Kiddo!
I would look into the voltage of all the indicator lights and get a matching transformer, light em up!
It’s part of a training simulator for military/space flight students. Was able to find some of these online and doesn’t match any exactly but seems most similar to the Apollo 10 group to me.
Is it a shuttle ground simulator panel?
One panel from the apollo block 1 sold for $31,000. I'm sure there is good value in that panel as well. Super awesome gift.
Post it on Strange earth watch them go hog wild.
Stage lights
Spacelab was a module that fit inside the Space Shuttle cargo bay. It was used for scientific experiments. This could be a panel from it
its complete trash, please have him send it to me and Ill pay ya scrap for it /s actually- thats one of the coolest things Ive seen on reddit in a while. . .
Really cool though
So cool.
Damn you guys are lucky. That thing is awesome.
[I’m so sorry, I just had to…](https://www.reddit.com/r/Shittyaskflying/s/TgCJ3TJror)
That looks like how I operate my bidet. Educate them while they are young.
Boeing 787 door control panel.
Wierd opinion. It looks like a mechanical mock up. Used to check for fit, so they're minimally wired and populated.
Mach up board.
Boner material. That's what that is, right there.
I got one of these with my japanese bidet as well. I particularly enjoy the fire suppression function! I have yet to try the “experiment safing” functionality out of abject fear.
Flux Capacitor
Whatever you do, don’t stir the O2 tanks.
Awesome is what it is. From an aircraft cockpit I believe.
It's non flight equipment
Biggest tv remote I’ve ever seen
https://images.app.goo.gl/fCsHVdfG4XEDnEct7
its a insturment panel from a space shuttle either real or replica. googling SPACELAB would have said as much.
Probably simulator, given nonflight sticker?
yep. the training lab module is on display in germany. so probably from the other simulator stuff they made for training
Read the labels and get back to me on that one.
Fascinating that this is even around.
gifted?
Lazy man's work shoe
That's an aircraft panel. If it's from a modern aircraft that is in production, and it's a functional panel (I don't recognize it though), it could be worth upwards of 100-200k to the right folks.
Ya I see you people all the time
sensory board for a toddler?
Many hours of imagination fun.
IDK BUT if you don't want it I do it looks cool
That is very very cool, you guys should make it into a display somehow, mount it in a wooden or aluminum panel. It would be really cool if you could get a power supply for it so the lights work.
CRM-114?
Awesome item to have!
Awesome ! Put some bolts around the edges using the original holes and put a glass top in it for an awesome table !
It says spacelab on it
Get ahold of Steve Jurvetson. He has more money than God and likes to spend it collecting space-related hardware. If this tickles his fancy, he’ll pay real money for it.
I was thinking commercial air craft until I saw that non flight sticker so space craft is a good bet
I don't know, but it looks like it came out of one of the Apollo Command or Lunar modules, or a simulator for astronaut training to pilot them. Very cool!
NASA
ummm... it's awesome.
How the hell did your kid get gifted this?!
That’s government property!!
About $500 to $1k in parts that the contract agency sold to the US Govt for a million, +.
Why don’t you just ask the giftor what it is?
Looks like a control panel for a jet or a helicopter
I gotta hand it to their engineers. Their layouts are gorgeous.
That’s the millennium falcon.
Who died?
It looks like a gray panel with switches on it… just saying that what it looks like
Elon is looking for that. Please give it back he said.
Mother board for the original flux capacitor
Still cool a thing to have
One thing for sure, it’s upside down!
Would you be interested in selling this? Would make a great flight sim add on.
Although it says non flight, I would say it's a training panel for the astronauts. You know, duct tape it to a cardboard box and cut little windows in the box and train.
Cool!
Turn this into a launch control for model rocketry.
This is incredible. I would have loved to have this as a kid (or as an adult)! Very cool.
part of a viper cockpit from Battlestar galactica. but looks to be part of the LEM module from an Apollo moon mission ¹
Cockpit panel from a space vehicle don't look like any airplane panel unless it was an experimental
A kick ass gift is what that is! Also my best guess is it’s part of a flight simulator, and seems to be about fire suppression. 🤷
It’s an extra control panel for a F-14 tomcat
I dunno what this is, but I’d wire up some LEDs and epoxy the top and make it into a dope ass coffee table…
Part of a control panel from an aircraft. Unsure which. Maybe a pilot could answer thatasI am only a daughter if one who's deceased.
Spacelab was a science module fitted to the space shuttle on some missions. And this thing definitely looks like a part of the shuttle’s control panel.
Stolen Government property?
TR-6
So. Uh. Could you plug all the electrical in the house through this and be in control of everything?
Looks like a modular synthesizer
Looks like the British R7 control panel from the Spacelab orbiter…used for the AC control. https://www.esa.int/About_Us/ESA_history/How_we_made_Spacelab
No but it's your last day.
Fuck off.
No. Did I ask you for it? Mind your own business.
Time travel panel
Nifty
Clearly it’s a Soviet era nuclear launching device /s
wow i could really level up my sim rig with some of those components omg i love aircraft/military style electronics holy cow
It’s a panel for a simulator, it’s cheaper then using real panels because in aerospace there’s expensive testing and tighter tolerances, it’s cheaper to get one made because it doesn’t have to be FAA rated.
Unbelievably cool
HMI from Chernobyl.
I'd love the part numbers off those switches.
I know those are Glen Air connections on the side used in the navy army and aerospace Industry
If he wants to sell it I bet it would be worth a decent amount of money on RR Auction [https://www.rrauction.com/departments/space-exploration](https://www.rrauction.com/departments/space-exploration)
It s à cockpit command for croc.
New console for a TARDIS. I'm joking, but it is pretty neat.
r/vxjunkies would love this
