My 6’3 goddess. As the only shorty of a family full of skyscraper ladies, I love it when tall women dgaf and take up space. Even her hair deserves its own room
She’s clearly having so much fun with fashion it’s contagious! She’s another one of those celebrities who I’m always looking forward to seeing on red carpets
Same here!! I totally agree with you u/citrustaxonymy
I think her vision for each theme and outfit has her personality and vibe.. Hope she comes to Cannes, can't wait to see what she can bring there..
The hair reminds of this iconic Vogue September issue with Grace Coddington

I just read the short story that the theme is based off of (found in a comment further down). I could see this transparent/opaque cape representing the outer petals of the time flower. And at one point the time flower is compared to a rose. So perhaps it’s symbolic of the time flower itself?
She's got us all on a leash. She walked out like "Don't speak the old words to me, I was there when they were written." And just stomped that catwalk *DOWN.*
I feel very conflicted here. I love Gwendoline Christie, but the top is giving deflated Marie Antoinette in a windstorm, and the bottom is giving evil queen from a Disney movie. Something is just not working.
I don't like the wig. It looks like my childhood dolls after a bit of time when it turned crispy fried looking. The dress and cape are OK to me.
I love her so much though. She's amazing no matter what.
Love this! I bet she’s so fun for designers to dress since she has this theatrical vibe. I just hope the hair is a wig because otherwise that is going to be so hard to detangle.
i think the hair was one step too far, especially as the cape itself is enough drama. it does look like she's enjoying herself though, which is always nice to see on the red carpet
I think it may be the pose that’s setting me off, but the hair, the dress itself is fairly dull and the hair is wild. I love Gwendoline though, so this to me is a rare mis step.
Agree, as much as I adore Gwendoline and particularly her love for capes, this one’s a miss. What with the hair, it’s all a bit too much and doesn’t feel cohesive. It somehow looks both unfinished and too busy at the same time?
'The Garden of Time' inspired by a short story written by J.G. Ballard.
ETA: Here's a link to the short story in case anyone wants to read it: [https://lithub.com/read-the-1962-short-story-that-inspired-this-years-met-gala-theme/](https://lithub.com/read-the-1962-short-story-that-inspired-this-years-met-gala-theme/)
I’m conflicted here. I wish there was more texture on the dress or ornaments really. I would have loved her runway look here instead or a variation of it
I like it!! It’s interesting to look at with all the whimsical angles from the hair, to the black shawl, to the way her dress is accentuating her waist.
*Not one of my faves.*
*Not digging the whole bride of*
*Frankenstein look. sorry*

She is magnificent!!!
My 6’3 goddess. As the only shorty of a family full of skyscraper ladies, I love it when tall women dgaf and take up space. Even her hair deserves its own room
That is exactly what I said when I saw these pics. 😍 She’s amazing.
How did I come here to say the exact same thing. 😍
I too echo that feeling.. She's bringing the drama.. She is a literal gift to us!!
She’s clearly having so much fun with fashion it’s contagious! She’s another one of those celebrities who I’m always looking forward to seeing on red carpets
Same here!! I totally agree with you u/citrustaxonymy I think her vision for each theme and outfit has her personality and vibe.. Hope she comes to Cannes, can't wait to see what she can bring there..
She looks great and clearly is having fun with her cape.
I would have fun with that cape too!!
2nd cape I’ve seen so far, hopefully more. I love capes!
I am new to my love of capes but after this I am forever in love with the magic of capes!! 😍
That red is so….deep. I love it. I want to touch the fabric!
It’s truly so good
Gwendoline Christie deserves applause for this performance. She is giving fashion. BRAVA!
That’s exactly what this look is. It’s a performance. This is amazing.
Love it! Her hair goes great with that look.
Floofy hair!
I love her and I really love the texture of the hair and the velvet, but it also totally reminded me of ![gif](giphy|W6adpgjL8wI8)
Yes, but the sweeter cotton candy version!
Bride of Frankenstein vibes
It's giving wicked stepmother and I love it
I was thinking queen of hearts!
I would have so much fun in this outfit! So cool!
Love love love! She clearly loves fashion and I love her.

The custom design perfectly complements Gwendoline Christie's unique style and presence.
I love her and I love this. Pic 3 makes the cape look especially cool.
It's given villian!!!
I saw her and the first thing I thought of was the apple that tempted Eve. She looks amazing!
Now that's on theme!
What is your interpretation of the theme? I’m not seeing it but I’m very open and curious to your thoughts
I'm not seeing how it fits the theme either, I'd love to hear some other thoughts

Hm interesting. Guess I know what I'm reading before bed tonight
That's a very unique and avant garde look. Love it!!
Omg this is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
She's the fashion maven I never saw coming. I need her, I love her, she's iconic. Put her in more runway PLEASE. I love everything they put her in!
That porcelain walk was MOOD. She coutures like couture was her very provenance.
She's got us all on a leash. She walked out like "Don't speak the old words to me, I was there when they were written." And just stomped that catwalk *DOWN.*
I thought the vines were part of the cape in pic 2/3. Im glad she's getting her model moment but I'm not that enamoured with the look
fuck yesssss what a serve!!
I wish there was more of a connection between the cape and the dress, feels like two separate but gorgeous pieces
Insane clownery by which I mean 👏👏👏
I feel very conflicted here. I love Gwendoline Christie, but the top is giving deflated Marie Antoinette in a windstorm, and the bottom is giving evil queen from a Disney movie. Something is just not working.
I don't like the wig. It looks like my childhood dolls after a bit of time when it turned crispy fried looking. The dress and cape are OK to me. I love her so much though. She's amazing no matter what.
She looks like Weird Barbie. High fashion! But still. I also love her (and weird barbie). This just isn't it for me.
Love it! The HAIR!
Love this! I bet she’s so fun for designers to dress since she has this theatrical vibe. I just hope the hair is a wig because otherwise that is going to be so hard to detangle.
Sorry, no. This is very Hocus Pocus-coded.
you say that like it’s a bad thing!
i think the hair was one step too far, especially as the cape itself is enough drama. it does look like she's enjoying herself though, which is always nice to see on the red carpet

I'm getting Nina West myself
What is the theme?

She looks like she should be on money.
"Am I the villain? Maybe I am"
I’m conflicted here. I wish there was more texture on the dress or ornaments really. I would have loved her runway look here instead or a variation of it
She look incredible!! The hair, the dress, her makeup all come together beautifully. Magical ♥️🖤♥️🖤♥️
Love her! Queen shit. I want to see more large (tall & well proportioned) women. I’m 5ft7 with broad shoulders and I always feel so massive.
I loveee the color of her dress!
I like it!! It’s interesting to look at with all the whimsical angles from the hair, to the black shawl, to the way her dress is accentuating her waist.
She looks like a mucha painting!
I’m not getting how this relates to the theme :/
not one of my faves. not digging the whole bride of frankenstein look. sorry

She’s so beautiful but this dress is atrocious! Just horribly ill-fitting and downright ugly. Who designed that garbage???
John Galliano.
She’s so gorgeous! Love how she uses volume. The red dress is only okay compared to other choices
I love all the contrast in colors and textures, plus her face card is eating DOWN, she looks so powerful and sexy.
STUNNING. It's giving Remedios Varo.
i'm always happy to see gwendoline at fashion-related events and this look is not exception!
AMAZING.
This is so fun and theatrical and camp! That’s what I want to see at the MET. Love the hair ❤️
![gif](giphy|XmiTYLQ5qXTqM) This is fabulous!
It's giving Mugatu and I love it
This woman knows how to pose. Majestic.
MOTHER
I love her so much! Gwendoline just leans so much into the fun and camp of fashion and it is so refreshing.

Gwendoline Christie is such a fashion girlie I love this.
Yes gawd
It’s giving the witch from Into The Woods
Her hair reminds me of The Birch, ngl. But nice dress!
Gorgeous and she looks like she’s having so much fun!
she’s like the perfect designers muse… she has a time traveler vibe
She looks stunning in Maison Margiela.. That net cape gives such a regal vibe to the whole look. And that red is just wow! 🔥
