Do you happen to go to my school but have the numbers wrong? There are 6000 students on my schools campus in Michigan and I'm pretty sure eits one of the only schools of it's size, at least in the US, outside of NYC.
I remember writing a story for an exam about someone being followed by some being (the person heard footsteps behind him etc) and I ended it with him realising it was his own footsteps
I actually like the idea of having this short story about a paranoid dude, but in reality everything really is in their head. Not the most original, but it sounds fun.

Ngl teachers complaining about this trope made me want to write about a story that's literally about a world in a dream, just so I can pull this on them in a way that's actually good

I had a little journal during 5th grade where I would write short horror stories. They sucked ass like I had an ending where it turned out the random woman who warned the protag to gtfo of the dangerous area was actually his long lost missing sister and I made no allusion towards it the entire story until the end
I remember, when I was in elementary school, I wrote an entire story about the first school day of a little girl. I wrote about a kid that answered the teacher's question before she could, and ended the story with a sentence like "And then the little girl looked at him with a cold look for her entire life"
I still laugh about it
Its basically an “easy way out” nothing interesting actually happened, it didn’t mean anything, anything creative or interesting that could’ve resulted amounted to nothing, I’m not a teacher but that’s how I see it at least
One time in French class, we had an essay test. You were allowed to write about whatever you wanted, but you had to use certain words. I didnt know what to write about, so i ended up writing the beginning plot/ scene to the Thief game (the remake one), which i was playing at the time. When we received our tests back, she complemented me on how interesting it was.
I wrote a few fanciful stories in elementary school that ended like this, then I finally had a teacher tell us we shouldn't do that because it undermines our story, so I made my stories 100% more ridiculous to where you absolutely expect it to end with the main character dreaming but it would just end up with everyone in the world dying or something.
