This is a bottom shelf single malt. This particular version is interesting due to the cask finish.
It’s ok for the price. As a gift - any free whisky is the best whisky.

It definitely is enyoable neat. It is, however, nothing that will blow anyone away that has had more than 1 whisky from each region.
I would be happy to have it gifted to me, as it shows the giftgiver cares enough to not "just" take Glenfiddich 12.
I actually like this stuff. In fact I got bought a bottle by the MIL when my son was born. I’ve kept it in his baby box and we will open it together in 16 years time.
In terms of taste, I didn’t get much smokiness at all which is a good thing as I don’t like peat. Also as it’s a speyside it’s unlikely to have any strong smoke notes anyway.
Got a bottle of the Glen Moray Chardonnay Cask for my birthday a couple of years back. It’s not a high end or expensive single malt, but it was absolutely an enjoyable drop. I imagine this would be similar.
Glen Moray are mostly entry level single malts so you won´t get anything mindblowing in terms of flavor, they are bottled at 40%(chill filtered) and most of them are NAS. They do experiment quite a lot with different cask finishes though, and since they are so cheap they are e a good option to test different flavor combinations to whisky.

My priority is making sure it will never meet a drop of cola or anything like that to be considered enjoyable.

If this is all your budget can afford, there’s nothing wrong with it. At least it’s a single malt.
