We know for certain the strength and conditioning guys have been gutted and replaced that many times? News to me that they ever made any major overhauls in the last 5 years. Applies to the Bulls too ofc
After 2021 They got rid of Allen Thomas who had been here forever and mainly took over for herm Schneider and hired Geoff Head to be Sr Director of Sports performance. He had been the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Reds before that.
The next year they hired Goldy Simmons to be the director of Strength and Conditioning.
Eloy has been getting hurt since 2018 across everyone who has worked for the training staff
He should be able to run the bases. Guys in NFL or rugby are much larger than him, run much more often and more dynamically than him, and somehow their hamstrings are fine
I have a PT acquaintance who said his running mechanics are whack - said he runs up on the front of his feet and at 6’4” 265 lbs he said there is zero chance of not continual injury.
Gotcha... feels like Reinsdorf's teams are double doinked then with mediocre training staff plus loads of injury prone guys. Still gonna put most of this on the dudes who get hurt over and over. Just seems like guys like Eloy and Yoan don't give a fuck about maintaining their fitness. Yoan just wants to look buff and probably never stretches and Eloy is a fat ass
Wasn’t it a few years back that the Bears consistently had a rash of injuries every season for some time? It would be just like Reinsdorf to hire that incompetent staff for pennies on the dollar.
Just based on how goofy he is with the media, I would be willing to bet that he doesn’t take the training seriousness enough. This is all on him. It’s not like an ACL or Achilles that just gives. These are muscles that can be conditioned to perform. The injuries he gets are similar to old man ball injuries. Just cut bait and watch him get healthy again.
I’m trying to think of a comp in any sport. I’m not talking about torn ACLs, achilles, broken bones, etc. But how many repeatedly injure their hamstrings over multiple seasons? How many are baseball players? There are NFL and NBA players who have returned from high grade hamstring strains and finished out the season strong. Some have even come back from torn achilles (Cam Akers, as an example). The physical demands of those sports are much greater than baseball.
I just don’t buy this theory that his body is failing him due to wonky genetics. I think it’s more likely that he’s failing his body and not keeping it in game-ready shape.
I dislike that I feel this way because i know its not fair but it just makes me hate the man. Like if I hear "HI MOM" ever again I'm going to have a rage stroke.
Who was it that famously said “You can’t pull fat”? I feel like that applies to a lot of these guys. They are so ripped with 0.5% body fat that they can just twitch a little and something gives way, they are so tightly packed.
He’s FAR from being that lean, and he’s not that jacked. Body fat and muscle mass don’t have much to do with injury, neither does stretching. Look at pro rugby players and many NFL guys, all of them are jacked out of their minds and actually rarely tear a hamstring. Eloy just doesn’t work at rehabbing it and our training staff and physical therapists probably suck.
The fact that Getz allowed this guy on the roster this year just shows what a clown he is. All indications is this guy is not good in the locker room and is not ever available to play.
Getz should have sent a.message to the team that the culture was changing and DFA'd him.
His body just might not be built for baseball... ... Or the Sox training staff is atrocious... ... or both.
I’m willing to bet we found our S&C staff at the dollar store.
I have no idea how good our staff is. But it’s the same exact guys getting hurt over 4 or 5 s and c staffs. At some point it’s these guys own fault.

I think Eloy is just too big for his own good

Love the flair
Probably found them in Missouri
Five & Dime
Crazy they went from Herm and avoiding the IL being a huge strength to this. Bring back Herm!
I don't think his body is built to move
If they were competent Jerry would lose one of his biggest scapegoats
I don't even know. Which leg is it? Is it the one he does the stupid fuckin toe turn on in his batting stance?
exactly. dumbest looking stance in the history of baseball and i'm guessing it's also the least effective.
This whole organization is awful. Sadly, Eloy needs to go but so does the training staff, coaches, and ownership.

I watched him in his rehab while in Charlotte - not a serious bone in that boys body.
He's built for chess
I’m out of jokes for this
You must have hurt your funny bone
It hurts, but not Eloy level of hurting. Ooo, got it back
I mean you really can't even write jokes this funny anymore.
Shit that Jimenez jersey I bought back in 21 is looking like a good purchase. Worn it about as much as he’s played.
Same
At this point I think we can assume that Eloy is actually just a giant hamstring muscle pretending to be a MLB player
I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, he has the body of a Greek god with the hamstrings of a malnourished chicken
Body of a Greek god?????? If so, he was the giant they locked in the basement
It's Achilles' distant cousin, Hamstringgus!
Is this satire? Like this has to be fake rights
Mr. Glass. The guy has the worst body on the planet. I'm going to guess he isn't flexible.
Can we give him back to the Cubs? He’s yours - just take over payments!
Is he really hurt all the time or is he just constantly faking injuries so he can get paid to do nothing?
He is honestly the first time I’ve ever suspected this lol
Just fucking retire 🤡
dude, just retire at this point
You can’t make this stuff up…I would bet Eloy texted Yoan and said “I am back!” after the game
As soon as I saw him get a single instead of a double...sigh
This isn’t an accident. Byron Burton plays more games than this guy.
Get this guy a full-time Pilates instructor or something.
Right? Do some yoga man.
This guy stayed healthy in the minors, right? Can we figure out what he was doing down there that he’s not up here?
😂
Couldn't even last 1 game lol
It’s hilarious to me that his picture here looks like he just woke up with his hat crooked.
He literally couldn’t run. Why the fuck was he on the field.
Man injures himself just getting out of bed, gotdamn
Water is wet
DeVry University ass trainers on this fuckin team. How is this bum hurt yet again

Called it back when he returned last time. Right before the all star break
I.L. Jimenez Sit him down for the season he done made of glass
I didn’t even know he was back lmao
Haha… if an Eloy comes back and gets immediately gets hurt, did he even come back at all?
Smh…just smh…I would not be shocked he signs on elsewhere and all of a sudden, boom, all his potential unleashed or whatevs
Time for him to leave
Dude is trash, just cut him or some shit
Get rid of him
Does he even have a hamstring anymore? Or is it all just scar tissue?
Every time this happens I'm reminded why the Flubs got rid of him. They probably saw all this coming
how does this even happen...
This genuinely made me laugh out loud
Eloy is injured and the sky is blue. Glad to see some things never change. Like ever.
Is this guy made of glass???
lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
I dislike that I feel this way because i know its not fair but it just makes me hate the man. Like if I hear "HI MOM" ever again I'm going to have a rage stroke.
Who cares
Is Eloy Italian ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ERYcpBc2dI
Fuckin bum...send him home permanently
Eloy can fuck all the way off at this point
EJ is a lousy bitch
I had him out by the 6th inning yesterday. Close! So close!
what do these players do in the offseason? is the problems his body? is the problem the training/medical staff?
Please DFA him today!
Trade him and moncada for a bucket of BP balls and a used equipment bag!

Jerry bought him the “Joe Biden 5 steps to Flexibility” video…
I'll bet the training staff all went to Trump University...

If you are going to say Eloy isn't great in the locker room you might as well say Abreu
Jerry isn’t going to eat the contract
