I think this might've originally been uploaded to some other greentext sub and OP might be a bot that just saw the words "wholesome" and decided to post it here because the sub has "wholesome" in the name even though it doesn't fit at all. The account name at least doesn't make any sense whatsoever so it's got at least one point in the probablr-bot-column
while i have no gripe with the term "wholesome" i can sympathize with anon, I for one absolutely hate tik tok speech, especially the term "unalive" used in place of dead or killed, it's incredibly stupid and most importantly it is borne of the censorship of the tik tok algorithm and advertisers who think for some reason that putting their ads on anything that isn't incredibly sterilized and family friendly in an almost puritan way is bad for business.
He doesn't say it, but it sounds like he thinks "wholesome" is a new word? Or being used in a new way? It is not.
https://www.etymonline.com/word/wholesome
to be fair, the English language kind of changed "that's sweet" from meaning "that's cute/adorable/wholesome" into meaning "that's cool/epic/awesome" in terms of slang so I can kinda understand
I haven’t used the word “sweet” to mean cute or wholesome in my entire life, and I’m a middle aged woman who frequents too many cat subs. I wonder how old this person is, and where they’re from.
For me it's the word "literally" which used to mean "not in the figurative sense" now it basically means nothing because of how often it was misused to add emphasis, it's been redefined.
...No no, anon´s got a point here. A lot of reddit slangs have spread around a lot to the point we don´t really use much the actual words anymore, especially with english speakers.
Evil mature or old ladies that are somehow very stupid, very evil, or just entitled shits? We don´t call them witches anymore, we call them Karens.
Date going slowly wrong with some things to nit pick so we can somehow guess a persons whole personality? Red Flags.
On the other hand, saying single words to refer to something slightly complex its always very practical.
How about the fact that "whoa" is not, never has been, and never will be spelled "woah". Fuck outta here with your literal pocket dictionary being unable to spell shit.
Aww, what a sweet and wholesome green text.
Thats it one of my neurons just killed herself
i think this guy would fucking implode if you told him about the entire field of semiotics and intension
Yeah, he seems like a prescriptivist fr fr
This post is not wholesome
You're right, "wholesome" shouldn't be a replacement word for "retarded"
Doubleplus unwholesome
No way they'd keep "wholesome" in Newspeak, but yea.

Anon is new to the internet and doesn't understand that language and the use of words evolve/devolve over time as culture shifts around them.
he seem to understand that but he doesn't like the most recent update, i mean it's really just a matter of tastes.
Updates land, metas shift, good old days gone. It is what it is.
oh yeah absolutely, but i can sympathize with not liking specific changes, everyone has something they think was better in their previous iteration.
"murderously angry" tho. Bro needs to touch grass lmao
oh absolutely lol, let's not forget anon is a 4channer so he should touch grass regardless lol.
i hate prescriptivism as much as the next guy but i gotta say wholesome has become so overplayed for me i don’t like it anymore

Unalive needs to go. Normalize the word terminate if they're so inclined not to use the word kill.
Terminate unalive!
just say `sudo kill -9`
People are emigrating from TikTok to Youtube and using the term “unalive”. It’s so stupid
Wholesomadeeznuts
I sort of get it, there are a few phrases or specific words that irrationally piss me off, I know it's stupid but they irritate me for no reason.
He doesn't say it, but it sounds like he thinks "wholesome" is a new word? Or being used in a new way? It is not. https://www.etymonline.com/word/wholesome
Ikr, this was my first reaction as well

Tangential to this sub’s purpose lol. Also, why is dude mad about synonyms?
not a synonym tho; wholesome - 'conducive to or suggestive of good health and physical well-being'
Sweet was killed by Southern moms who use it as an insult.

If you know southern mothers, you know that sweet is a way they tell you you're pathetic or pitiable while still keeping that "southern hospitality."
Oh, my sweet summer child...
Part of me wants to disagree and the other part thinks of how annoying the phase “let them cook” is.
language is defined by its users, not academy
People like this think too hard about things
Fake and wholesome
aw thats sweet, anon is mentally ill
Anon will straight up got send to an asylum if he see a zoomer utter the line “no cap fr fr”

bro doesn't understand English language OR neuroscience
Anon is a prescriptivist who thinks languages shouldn't change and we should all be speaking the one true correct version of a language
I thought it was bread

Wholesome
OP doesn't know how languages work, thinks things should always stay the same, forever.
Bro doesn’t understand how languages work
NEW THING???? NEW THING NOT BETTER THAN OLD!!!! GGRRRR ME ANGRY!!!! ~irritating people, time immemorial.
Local man furious that language does not stay the same eternally
You can also read this as "I hate semantic shift and linguistic alterations over time waaaaaaa!"
Spent a solid minute trying to figure out why this post was here
How about the fact that "whoa" is not, never has been, and never will be spelled "woah". Fuck outta here with your literal pocket dictionary being unable to spell shit.
It's over.
Sweet!
Unwholesome
Anon doesn't understand how language works
Language changes you genius
Anon dislikes newspeak
Very meta post
Call me fabric because felt
