baz4k6z

Cadunkus

I was gonna say Abraham.

EquivalentSnap

Same

naturerosa

Also same 😂 Edit: wanna make it clear the laughing is because so many people misread that line, not the content itself.

EquivalentSnap

Drag0n647

wersenthefuuck

Boop-Chicken192

Just like you always do

beardedliberal

‘Til the blue skies chase those dark clouds far away

ItwasmeSecondAccount

So will you please say hello to the folks that I know?

EquivalentSnap

Tell them you won't be long

AbbreviationsBig4863

OOP is like 60-70

MadOrange64

ITotallyGetThat

nice

Tayrok

But not yet, not yet...

Nachoguy530

Similar moment with my wife's grandmother, who was dying from rapidly progressing dementia. She randomly had a moment of clarity and sang "Amazing Grace", she died about a month later.

GlizzyGulper6969

o7

FoundWords

Ima do that with my kids when I die, except the song will be Friday by Rebecca Black

Viridono

No there shouldn’t.

EmilieEasie

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn? Remember how she said that we would meet again some sunny day?

ItwasmeSecondAccount

Yeah.

EmilieEasie

This isn't the next line but it should have been

ItwasmeSecondAccount

Hahahaha I could tell it was a bit of some kind but it was going over my head, what’s the reference?

EmilieEasie

LOL it's a Pink Floyd song. It's really short though, song might be kinda a misnomer, maybe more like an interlude? One of their most famous albums, The Wall, is also a movie of the same name. Both deal heavily with how the aftermath of WWII impacted Britons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl20jlVnvYs

Chadstronomer

this song is the only reason I know about Vera Lynn

EmilieEasie

It's not the only reason I knew of her but it was definitely how I first learned about her

ThtOneGuyUKnw

Vera! Vera! What has become of you?

EmilieEasie

Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?

169bees

goddamit you made me cry

a_goestothe_ustin

Always remember the Pink Floyd song that starts out "Does anyone here remember Vera Lynn. Remember the way she said 'We would meet again, some summer day'..." Dude's dad must've been Syd Barrett. Edit: https://youtu.be/bCawgpFg_Bg?si=eN0dog1qubjhhbhQ

LordoFlames

I've always wanted to have this be how I go out, ever since the first time I heard the song.

beautifulcosmos

Fuck. I'm in tears.

Uglarinn

I'll never forget the last phonecall I had with my grandfather. His last words to me were "I'll always love you."

sir_guvner50

A real boomer using 4chan? Good on him though, and hope him and pops meet up again.

Dystopiq

>Nothing wrong with him. Then why is he in the hospital!? riddle me that

Ninzde999

I also misread in the same way 😂 I guess we both can't read

Cunny-Destroyer

What do you mean "nothing wrong with him" that's not how it works lmao

fUSTERcLUCK_02

I think OOP just meant, it wasn't a terminal illness or anything. It was just his time. 2 of my grandparents went the same way. Mentally they were just ready to go, so they did.

Techniq4

I wish mine went the same. 3 of them went because of illness

fUSTERcLUCK_02

Yeah, my other grandparents went from Illness. 😞

RuralJaywalking

What do you mean “meet again”? He’s dead.

Asmardos1

Syr to break this to you but that is not how death works....

Canotic

If life transcends death Then I will seek for you there If not, then there too

Asmardos1

This

GrowthAdventurous

Lots of personal experience?

Asmardos1

Kinda, there are not many family members left that could die any more...

Dark_Knight2000

Most sympathetic atheist. And before you say it, I’m an atheist too, it’s just I don’t feel the need to say anything when people talk about the afterlife for their own comfort.

DexanVideris

Also being an atheist doesn't necessarily mean you are 100% certain there is no afterlife. It just means you're not a theist, i.e. you're unconvinced that a god/afterlife exists. I guess a lot of people would just call that agnosticism, but really those terms are not mutually exclusive. One can be an agnostic atheist, or an agnostic theist. Edit: Why the downvotes lmao, it takes literally one google search to verify.

Dark_Knight2000

Correct

bawapa

Agnosticism means you believe in some greater force, but not necessarily a (or several) sentient god(s) Atheism means you believe this is all there is, no metaphysical thoughts about higher planes or karma or god or a form of heaven or whatever. There's no god/force that exists in the universe other than natural law

DexanVideris

No, actually, that's not what those things mean. It may be the way they are used in a colloquial setting, but it just...isn't what the words mean. Atheism means you are not a theist (ie you are not convinced of the existence of god(s).) Agnosticism just means you think that whether or not a god exists is unknowable. A Christian that believes in god but believes it's impossible to know for certain whether or not god exists is, by definition, an agnostic. Again, google will verify this. It isn't a crazy, radical concept.

bawapa

You literally just said what I said but in fewer words

ItwasmeSecondAccount

If you think that you have a few screws loose. You said agnostics believe in some greater force but not necessarily a god. They said agnostics think that whether or not a god exists is unknowable.

BlackTheNerevar

WoW you really showed op, #iamverybadass
