Right now my girlfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. VR is a great way to bridge that gap. I get to interact with her, “see” her body language, and feel her presence while we do stuff together. It beats video calls and texting by mile, imo.

My mom and her Guy are long distance and she tells me all the time about their VR dates. They're both in their 40s and it's just absolutely adorable honestly lol they watch movies together, fight zombies. Its so cool. She's happier than she's been in any other in person relationship.

It’s made it so much easier to do stuff. Plus like…I’ve only gotten to spend one day face to face with my girl but I know her mannerisms and body language fairly well because of it. It’s not the same as having her in my arms, but it’s close enough that it makes the distance less of a factor.

Huh? This meaning is that a guy playing too much VR decides to stop playing, make his place nice and get a real girlfriend. The original order is a guy pretending to have a happy life with a cozy house and girlfriend but in reality is alone in the dark. They're...complete opposites...

It's because there is no transition between scenes that mark the change, it feels like the dialogues are connected, and the set-up and VR headset already puts you in the mindset of illusion. Plus, the original order uses the positioning of stuff in both rooms to tell us it transitioned from reality to VR. The whole room is posotioned exactly the same in both scenarios. That's why I think it does not change the meaning by just reversing, but it's a step indeed.

You should read some of the stories from the main comment thread (you have to go a little bit down but it gets wholesome; the start of them is a comment by Viligans), it’s a beautiful because people can be connected by VR when otherwise they’re so physically distant.

So maybe you can settle the argument then - are the dark panels *before* the light panels, in the sense that his GF came over and he really decorated and made a fire? Or are they concurrent IE, the decorated room & fire are all virtual, along with his gf's presence, and he's really experiencing it all virtually while sitting in the dark? The first one would be wholesome, the second would be perfectly representative of the stuff that gets posted here everyday which is not wholesome at all.

i find it very difficult to show my friends and family vr because whenever i started playing vr (around 5-6 years ago) they didn’t have any games that are as immersive as they are now all of the games i had were just standing still and messing with little puzzles and what not, so i could get used to games as they got more advanced whereas now the most of the games are full 6 DOF where you make your character run and jump around doing whatever you want sure it’s much more fun and immersive and worthy of the money but it’s not as good for introducing vr

My boyfriend really loves VR, and in the first year of our friendship we would play VRChat and spend so much time just talking or exploring worlds together. It might be cheesy or "impossible" to see VR as bringing you closer to a partner or friend, but it worked for us. VR gets a really bad reputation because of people who exploit it, but with the right friends and people, you can really learn a lot about a person by how they react to the world and people around them - even if it happens to be virtual.

I made that choice! I gave up video games and learned how to dance. (Line dancing is super easy fyi). Lost 10 lbs a month for 3 months and then lost a additional 15 over like 6 more months and now I’m back to my highschool weight and a health bmi. That’s how I met my girlfriend/fiancé line dancing. We’ve been living together for a few months now. It’s easier said then done, I only left my comfort zone after being alone for 8 years. As someone with Asperger’s, if I can do it you can too.
